change your name servers in just a few minutes okay so before we go ahead and dive into this brief tutorial consider subscribing if you haven't done so already or if you're new to this Channel and that way you'll stay updated with actionable videos and tutorials designed to equip you with the skills knowledge and tools to help your small business Thrive online and with that have you know out the way let's go ahead and dive into the process of updating your name servers thank you [Music] okay so let's go ahead and get started how can you change your name servers now for the purpose of today's tutorial what I want to do is create a WordPress website using one hosting provider and I've already purchased a domain name using a different domain provider so I want to make sure that my domain is pointing to my website and we can do that by changing our name servers so even if we've purchased a domain or email service with a different provider then the provider that we're using to create a website we can connect the two together through name servers and today I'm going to quickly set up a WordPress website inside hosting it and then I need to change my name servers inside hostpaper which is a different provider that I use to purchase my domain name now if you want to learn how to create a website from start to finish set up your business emails and domain name then what I'll do is add a beginner's tutorial up above and down below in the description that will help you with this if you currently do not have a website okay so I'm just going to quickly go ahead and navigate through the process of setting up my WordPress website I'm going to come down and click Skip and create a new website and I want to use WordPress then I just need to add and create my WordPress login details then click on continue I'm going to skip this for now and then quickly choose a theme and this is where I want to connect an existing domain so I want to use a domain that I've previously purchased at another provider I'm going to go ahead and click on select and then type in that domain name down here and this is the domain name that I purchased through a different provider now it doesn't matter what provider you're using I'm just going to show you the steps for edgy changing your name server so depending on the web hosting provider that you use for your website you just need to find the option to use an existing domain okay so I'm going to go ahead and click on continue and if I navigate up here these are the existing name servers that I'm currently using for my domain however if I want this domain name to work with my website then what I need to do is update those name servers with these new name servers over here and that's going to point my domain name that I purchased at hostpaper to my hostinger account meaning that my host puppet domain is now connected with my hostinger website okay so first what we want to do is copy this name server up here go ahead and copy the new name server and then head over to the provider that you use to purchase your domain name and here we are inside my host Papa account now as you can see I have the domain here that I've purchased I'm going to go ahead and click on manage and then what you want to do is locate name servers for your domain then navigate down here and you can see I'm currently using the web hosting name servers what I want to do is go ahead and use custom name servers by clicking here and then updating the name servers so under dns1 what I want to do is add the first name server that I copied from hostinger okay so once you've pasted in the first updated name server we want to head back to our Hosting account or the company that you're currently using to host your website then come down and this time what we want to do is copy the second DNS the second name server and then I'm going to head back to my domain provider and then paste in that updated name server in here and as you can see I've gone ahead and added both these updated name servers then come down and click on update DNS servers and as you can see the name servers have been updated successfully now if you can't access name servers you will need to get in touch with your hosting or domain provider they can also provide you with your name servers and update your name servers for you okay so I'm going to head back to my Hosting account where I'm hosting my WordPress website and then I'm simply going to navigate down and click on continue now you might have to wait a moment depending on the provider that you're using now just quickly before I get back to this video I just want to mention my all-in-one digital Playbook that you guys might be interested in called go digital now the ultimate small business Playbook this Dynamic book took me a year to create and is ideal for small business owners new and existing that are looking for a clear-cut digital roadmap for setting up the right tools the way let's go ahead and get back to this video and that's taken me back to my dashboard now it looks like my domain has already been connected now usually DNS changes will propagate within just a few hours however it's important to note that it can take up to 48 hours for your domain to propagate all across the internet however what we can do is head over to what's mydns.net and we can check our DNS status simply navigate up here and add the domain name that you want to check then navigate over here and click on name servers NS and simply hit search and you can see that my DNS record information has nearly been updated across all these different servers located all around the world again you might have to wait up to 48 Hours however that is how you can simply update your name
