hello everybody welcome back to the next episode of city skylines with me biffer and here we are in seaport and you might be wondering why we're looking at this piece of uh coastline over here yes today is the day we are gonna put in our port yeah and the crowd goes wild we're gonna put our porting down over here oh so many questions i get asked when's the port coming in when you get this tea port but there's no pool oh what are you doing yes i see all the comments and i've just been leaving it i've been mulling it over i've been thinking what are we gonna do and what i would like to do in here is something a little bit different so we're gonna pause the game and there's a few reasons for this little something to be different i'm gonna do i can't buy any more tiles i've got the 25 tile mod i don't want to use the 81 tar mod um and i can't buy another tile otherwise i could have sort of put what i'm going to do in here instead what i'm going to do is work with what we've got and i'm going to start off by flattening this down so if we how do i do this so i can get the there we go that's what i want when i see the terrain and stuff so if we up our brush size in fact we'll go this big that'll do so what i would want to build what i want to build is a port that is on an island an island port build that is the idea so what i'm going to do to start off with is i'm going to clear out a chunk like that and the island is going to be in the middle here that is the idea let's get rid of these trees around here don't want underwater trees been there done that no more underwater trees there we go excellent and then this section in the middle here we go back to this one we're gonna grab this height here i'm just going to make this a little bit smaller so let's have a look let's have a look yeah that i grab that height there and just yeah that's the height i want that one there so we're going to go and that's going to give us the height in the middle sort of like that so again it's going to take a bit of messing around to get this working exactly as i want it there we go maybe a little bit wider than that now i'm not an expert at terraforming but i'm gonna do my absolute best to try and square this off using some key walls and that sort of thing and that will give us a pad to start building on aha now i think what i'm gonna have to do is let the water come in first and then we can start working on it so let us do that [Music] okay there we go that gives us our platform to start on i just want to take a look at the let's have a look now the cargo hub thingamabobbies that we've got in here and just sort of gauge the size yeah that is roughly what we're looking at that's fine because we're gonna have a lot of stuff in the middle here we're gonna have some roads coming over the top connecting to our infrastructure yes nice okay right so let's add in some more stuff we are gonna put in here i've got an industry looking key with tyres on the side which i don't know whether the tires actually appear i've not ever seen those i did a quick practice of this um a while ago and yeah we'll just see how it turns out so let me just pop these down here okay so i've just popped a little road in there let's let the water physics run for a bit just to give us the sort of size that we're looking for and then the next thing is let's level this out is to get our quarry wall around the outside and as i mentioned i've got this industrial key i said quarry didn't i i meant key industrial key with tyres so let me just run this around here as well aha there we go we have our flat platform that we're going to be working with let's just have a zoom in over here oh yeah there we go look there's tyres on the side of this key wall fantastic look at that looks beautiful good okay excellent so now what do we want to do next let's just pause the game again while there's no water everywhere we are going to grab our cargo hubs and i would like two of these on here and they are nicely reaching out here to our root so i do want to sort of line these up they don't necessarily have to be in the middle and i would like them up here because i have a plan about what we're going to do so let's just grab if i just pop that road over there like that and do that and then what we can do is we can add this road back onto here and we can see it wasn't quite lined up so we will grab this and just oh do you know what it's so lined up as to be almost perfect yeah that'll do fantastic very good and then what we're going to do next is let me think how am i going to work this out i want a road coming down the middle that's going to split at the end and come up either side so we're going to use some industrial roads now i don't have a one-lane one-way industrial road the two-lane one-way industrial road will be fine so i'm going to go down like this i'm going to go down like that and then i want these two to line up so if i go like this we'll delete that go there and go there whoa excellent that's what we want and then we need to try and find the middle of this as well which we'll get to in a minute uh these need to turn around the other way so these are going to go up and these are going to go up and that's going to go out and that's going to go out that way that looks like it's the middle there but i bet it isn't let's have a look i want a four lane road four lane one way no there'll be a way there'll be a way of measuring this let's delete those two there we go 20 length road on each side that is the middle right there so let's get our four-lane road this will be interesting oh actually can i get that lined up oh it's so close almost right in the middle if i turn off those guidelines no if i turn off grid yes there we go that is the one that i want let's do a little bit closer i think that's going to be near enough yep good so let's get these lined up there we go excellent so now we can run this road let's go back to this let's put all of these things back on and this one's going to come all the way up the middle here that seems to be snapping weird well that's about let's go to there there we go excellent and then we'll turn all these around good so the plan is they're going to come in the middle here and then they're going to turn either up there or either up there because i'm pretty sure this is still part of the game if you've got two cargo hard cargo stations whatever near each other the nearest one to where people come in is the one they will always choose so i'm hoping by lining this up as accurately as i can that we're gonna find that there'll be a randomness about it and they'll all pick different ones so we'll see what happens let's do control h set it all the same size as that perfect look at that so this road here is gonna come straight out let's turn that on across here and i want that to come all the way to the other end i don't think this has got a bridge part has it no that's the only thing oh well we'll just go with the flow excellent there we go so that's going to go across there and then we're also going to add on the end of this because thinking ahead i know what the traffic's going to be like um around about that one is probably going to be too big let's try this one i think that one's going to work better there we go i've got a plan in mind that i'm working to i gave this a little test earlier upgrade that now i'll come back to that roundabout there's something i want to do but i'll come back to that roundabout so let's upgrade that that's the road going in perfect then come down there turn out and come up either end right so now we need to change these roads i've got the touch it mods so with that just open i can touch these roads here that just unlocks them and then we can change those we'll upgrade them there we go to these one-way roads excellent and then these are going to come let's bring it to the end like that one and then that should we go back to this turn into a bridge perfect so we'll bridge all the way out to level with that one there we go excellent then we're going to delete those two and we're going to curve these into here so there's a node right there we'll get that one curved into there and we'll get that one curved into there and then this road here what's that going to be that is going to be a bigger road i want this to be a four-lane road got two lanes in two lanes out do we have like an industry version of that yes this one here there we go perfect perfect perfect perfect now this round about here what is going to happen is anyone coming in coming down this way they're going to go round and they're going to go down there everybody coming out these ones coming out can just leave these ones coming out i've got to go all the way around to leave so we'll see how busy it gets whether we need to just change the direction of this roundabout change the setup or do anything funky with it if not whoops there we go if not we will go with that okay so let's continue with this road where is this road this road's going to hook in over here so we're going to go there and we're going to go there and that's going to give us all the all the lanes that we need i want that one to line up with this let's bring that one down a bit further let's say there that looks good perfect that's going to curve around there and then of course i left prop and triana key on when was that on i ask you that's okay we use the movement mod to fix that so down here why is it looking like it's rained don't have weather on in this city that's weird down here we can set up some dedicated tourney lanes this has got two lanes for going out one in each direction which is great and we're going to say you give way this may end up as a little roundabout we'll see i'm thinking this should be enough backlog for everything well that gives us a good start doesn't it look at that now something else i'd love to add along here is the shipyard yeah that's great we haven't used that yet um i was thinking about i don't really what i'm going to do with this is i'm now from now on i'm not going to try and make it symmetrical i think that's going to make it look more realistic so my initial thought is to pop that there but then this is going to get a ton of traffic coming in and out so we are going to pop that down the side here is that going to clip in okay if i turn off anarchy that's going to clip there absolutely perfectly we'll get the touch this mods there we go we'll touch that we'll close that down we can then change that road to this road there we go excellent let's turn that round and then we'll join this up there we go so having the two lanes is gonna help and then we know that this needs all of these items so we'll get working on that in a moment we may actually put the storage for that in here so these are coming down here we could have a road coming off and then go past the storage before they pick it up we could have it curve around yeah we'll have a little think about that we'll see what's going to happen so we've got some other cool cargo things that i'd like to add on here let's turn this round the other way so when we come in here this may end up being a little roundabout as well but i've got these little things i'd like to add let's jump into our cargo so we've got a lot of these little cargo yard generic sort of things that we can put down we've got a few other different shaped ones as well which i think could look very cool we've also got some cranes that i'd like to add in so let's pop those in first and we've got these as well contain container gantry crane which looks fantastic but these big train uh cranes keep saying trains these big cranes here we're going to pop these over the end like this just turn that around so it lines up with that road can we anarchy that i think we need prop and tree anarchy on there we go so what we're going to do is we're going to pop that there already looking good we're going to pop another one there yep that's nice and then actually we're going to pop a third one let's pop a third one on there as well excellent there we go let's grab our we've got some ships that i can place we've got a vanilla cargo ship which we can place in here it's a bit wonky it says their building must be placed inside a park area or roadside which to me wouldn't make any sense at all if i put anarchy on let's turn prop and triana key off yeah so i can sort of place it up there and then i can use the move it mod to drag that in here turn it around and that can act look at that like it's been filled up which is really good we could even add a second one in there let's get the movement mode got to be careful sometimes if these sort of clip and get in the way of something else it makes the cranes whoa let's grab the right thing there we go it makes the cranes disappear don't know why perfect look at that look at that excellent right so i'm going to now lay out a little roads layout in here and then we'll add some more detail to it [Music] right so this is what we've got so far and um i'll just give you some of the names of these things these little things down here are just called containers like abcd with some end caps these things here are called container ports and there's something special about these and these ones here the container gantry crane because if we just go into here like this and i unpause the game give it a second and you can see things start moving up and down look at that they're lifting things up they're moving them around they're doing all sorts of clever stuff which i like i've just put a little road going up through the middle here i'm just sort of imagining maybe some trucks going up there picking up some things up so what i might just do is with these roads in the middle here i'm going to do some stuff i'm going to get my speed limits and i'm going to put these down to 10 going through the middle there and then i'm going to get my thing that banned stuff i'm going to hold shift oh no okay we'll just do it this side and we're going to ban everything apart from the trucks which go through there and we do it this way as well there we go yep that's not right that one and that one there we go excellent so any trucks can go up through there very good and we need to get some water pipe so that's going to give us a lot of moving a lot of action things are starting to start looking really nice and then over here i want to add in the warehouses for these so the timber the plastics the glass and the metals now obviously we've got access to warehouses within our game here and they're probably gonna have to be the pretty small ones we do have these long ones which actually they're quite good how much do they hold capacity 100 000 what are these whole 250 000 and for what we're trying to do with this thing yeah i mean these other ones are just massive we're never going to get those in are these any bigger hundred and forty thousand under forty thousand we'll go with these ones here and we should be able to fit four of those in so what i'd like to do is have the cars come down the middle and then they come off up here and go past all the warehouses and then come out and go up there is that gonna be feasible at all let us oh jumpy game let us have a go and see what we can do no it's not not not setting out this way let's see if i can come up with something else okay after a little bit of finagling around we've got a one-way road coming in here and then look out access to all of these then a one-way road going out and then they can turn up there and drop off the stuff that they want which is great so it's plain timber plastic glass and metal so i'm gonna set these to full uh plain timber plastic glass and metal oh full there we go uh so then we know we've got everything we need right here to keep these things at there we go excellent to keep these things at 150 percent hopefully making this lots and lots of mueller good right what's next so i made that space by the way by just moving these things up here so yeah that works [Music] well i've added a few more warehouse yards here and there around the place these four here are going to double up on those goods there this one here i think i'm going to have it on empty and just put what should we put in it animal products doesn't really matter these two have got a specialized goods unique factory products which are going to be shipped out so if there's any overflow needed that will help there and then i just want to color some of this in uh we've got our surface tool here this is the pavement one let's go for a bigger brush size and just sort of fill in some of these areas oh and i've also popped down a few offices just to there we go which we're going to need around the place here and there just for people to work in actually i'm going to just fill up there we go some random spots there some offices we'll leave that blank uh let's see where else let's just fill this in with some concrete all along here as well already we can see the cars and trucks coming in which is fantastic so we start to get an idea of how this is all gonna work oh look at these guys heading in fantastic fantastic hopefully it won't start backing up too much now what else we need to add on here is our train lines we haven't got those yet have we so let's grab um not quite sure where these are going to go uh let's get that set like that so i'd like this all to be exactly the same height as everything else and lined up with everything else as well so if i bring that all the way across to there oh that's perfect and then we'll do that one on this side as well let's line that up oh look at that look at those bridges all those bridges look good do we actually need to do yeah that one's all set up let's just follow this down here so what's good about having four lane roads through the middle and the two lane roads coming off is at each of these junctions i can do that and we get dedicated turning lanes which is great uh we'll do it there we'll do it there we'll do it there now some of these junctions are very close uh which is fine i'm happy with that there we go i don't think i probably need to do that on all of these little junctions as well we'll see how busy it gets uh that's fine that's fine that's coming out that's coming out good that's going back to the beginning yeah but i've done that deliberately i think that just sort of adds to the chaotic feel of the place which in my mind is how a cargo port should be i'm liking the look of this side i thought we could just do don't know why these keep disappearing over here it's a bit odd isn't it we could just do a bit of gravel in there just to finish off that section and maybe just a bit of gravel in this one just for the gaps just to give it a bit of something a bit different there we go excellent and i think with the roads flowing down and then up and out i think that's going to work together quite well and then hopefully these soon we'll start getting some some goods in we could also do with adding some now let's have a look what about a waste transfer facility for dealing with all of these people here and we could have that up here off of a little road couldn't we um how about off of this road because then they can go in and join everybody else down there bit of a factory look there what i'm going to avoid doing is putting any industry down here at all i don't think that would be a good idea this feels like it whoops this feels like it needs a load of containers and things down here so let's go back to those ones that we used before and we've got these different lots here lots c and lot b that's a bit smaller actually which road is that i'd like that to attach to this road not the main road i'm trying to keep effort inc not being attached to these main through roads so all of these face this outside road all of these are on the side roads these are going to face you in the roads it makes sense doesn't it and then our end caps can we squeeze a little end cap in there no we can't maybe just another another cargo thing up here let's get that big one yeah let's pop that in here how's that looking oh this is really starting to look like a port now isn't it i'm liking the look of this i'm like a look at this i feel like we need another warehouse over here i'm gonna grab another one of those and we'll have that in the middle there and then we're gonna fill this in with a little bit of concrete and just to make sure everything is on the same level let's just turn that on i'm going to grab everything and i'm going to do control h and set it all to the same height as this hopefully that didn't break anything oh that's all looking nice and flat that's all looking nice and flat maybe just a little bit of the land needs flattening out i can do that well what a surprise seems like i've lowered the whole thing a little bit too much and unfortunately the last thing i did with the movie mod was move something else so i think i'm gonna have to just uh lift this all up again let's give this a go there we go and let's just raise it all up and see how we go right let's check things out our junction is working fine this is all working fine no problems here yeah this is all leveled off and working okay still needs a few more details we will get there whoop jumpy game just add a few more of these loaders at the end i like the look of them and we may oh look at that we've nearly finished our first boat that is absolutely fantastic and we make something like yeah 22 000 21 000 odds on each ship hey and there it goes now we're going to make another one oh that is just brilliant we're going to be making so much money and i guess these are going to be keeping up they must be yeah excellent that's good so now we want to get our rail lines uh connected up so let's have a look over here so we've got this line here which goes outside slightly flooded that's my fault don't worry about that so we need to add some sort of junction off of here i just think we're gonna go for nothing too complicated a nice standard like y junction like this so it can go in both directions and i think that should be fine [Music] okay i think that should be okay i'm just checking all the junctions just to make sure they're all connected so each one goes out to its own little junction there on the main line i think that should be good and then we just need to sort of fill in these little gaps here i'm just wondering whether another little office complex would actually just finish that off nicely with a few maybe a little bit of decoration in the middle well why the heck not let's see what we can do let's grab i want to just run a little path through here for no other reason than people might want to walk to get different places let's do that there we go and we'll have that connect up to there yep there we go and then we'll grab our offices and you know what i'm just going to fill all of that in and then just see what we get down here i'm going to sort of alternate maybe some different sizes there we go and then that i'm going to put a couple of buildings there and we'll just have a small one there oh god we'll do that one as well excellent just some administration buildings that i think would finish that off nicely oh i'm liking the look of this i'm liking the look of this let's just check out the traffic well absolutely humming along things might start changing now that we put our train lines in uh we need to give that something there don't we let's put that on empty on special unique factory products as well yeah excellent and i think the last thing i want to do is just grab the gravel just because i'm gonna fill this one in the ends here with a bit of gravel there we go [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] do [Music] yes [Music] [Music] do yeah guess who managed to block up his entire train network by putting some nodes too close together yeah even i can make that silly simple mistake they're starting to move now i'll show you what i did wrong let's come all the way down here here we go we remember this this has been working fine but i put this node here too close to that node there and it just meant that none of the trains could get through so they had all backed up all up here all out the city but it's slowly slowly unclogging itself oh dear oh dear but that is gonna sort itself out let's just give it a minute there we go a few minutes later and it's all sorted so i think this is an epic start to our port for tea port any other ideas you've got of things you'd
