today's mission is to tear down this porch and rebuild bigger and better step one the steps have to go [Music] [Laughter] [Music] and now the steps going step to get that roof off and then just let out a tin roof is off now to get the rest of that skeleton down save these for something a little project [Music] now this the tv111 sighting it's got to be replaced before I start the porch it is time to start building I have just dug up 6 recycled foot blocks I'm gonna put one beside that one on the side this one one beside this one it's gonna be 12 feet long 8 feet wide there'll be three three blocks out here here the rotten setting is gone in the new settings going up on day one of porch build we've got lumber on the jobsite the footer blocks are roughly where they go they still need to be leveled and squared up and then we can start with the 12 by 8 for frame the idea is to put four per force they're gonna go up and we have a slanted roof come down it is the next day the setting has been replaced prom and the chair rail is on the trimmer on the door zone and all the third blocks are Square and level it is now time to start building I just took my two by six by twelve to cut them off exactly 12 foot long now I'm gonna go mark every two foot for every floor joists for a four-dose ago it's 12 foot long so there'll be seven floor joists and if you'll notice that these cinder blocks are going we're lowering it down by eight inches use the four inches blocks that have eight inch blocks to get the width of eight feet you cut up them to 93 inches that gets rid of three inches that's the width of the two two by six by twelves [Music] [Music] so the corral boards for that country look [Music] we're getting close to halfway deck that's going pretty fast what I did the first board is a full length 12 footer 4 foot was cut off of it then 4 goes here you cut one in half eight goes there a goes here and the next one is a full 12 footer then it starts over four and an eight and an eight and a four and then the 12 that keeps your little pattern lines consistent and then when you put the 12 on that straightens up all your cracks some of these boards are wider than others you got to compensate anyway I'm putting two screws and every joist so now I've got 12 foot [Music] [Music] and now I'm out of the corral board system or reason for date boards I need two more those any more screws any more daylight I'm quitting knock off just had some heavy rains but I'm back in business what you missed I've put in the last two Corral boards then four and then with leftovers I built some steps that's two but six of tupa six bucks growl boards on top then I removed the remaining two boards from the old porch and up next I got to cut that trim board here and cut the eve off and then we can start putting full befores on the corn so I've got a corner bracket home that's exterior screws two inches long I've got two boards that's gonna hold it level for me just like this one the folklore is laying up right there on the sawhorses there recycled used to be fence post this is day two of trying to work in the pouring rain working on a porch yesterday we've got the two columns set there plumb they're ready to go I got the board's from off the under the eaves they're down this board goes up to replace those it is the porch is going to be 12 foot wide at the bottom the roofs going to be 14 foot wide the 10 this is 13 foot 11 that gives me a half inch overhang on each side same thing with this this one comes out right to the columns okay that's what the pitch of the roof is going to look like I've gotta lower the board on the other end by 3nf inches I've got a mark on this side lower about 3.5 inches that's at 212 little more in a to 12 pitch on this side I've got a board holding up this one of my tuba six headers gonna go I've already got it screws in it so I'll go up and I'll lay the board on this here go over the other type of the screws then come over to this side of the level screw it off that's how you work by yourself I'm currently in the process of putting the rafters on there are two screws on that in there's two nails on this end screw gun no gun over here on the bench I'm marking the angle it's an eighth degree angle Market Market Market cut it cut it cut it before I market I thought what a crown is you look down it the crown goes up it's up next I'll cut these three I got one down they already cut zone all the rafters are up they're not in place the two on the end were shorter than the rest because of the way I know them all got here so took a chalk line and a level pop a line and took a level and I made a bunch of marks I'm halfway through cutting them off bears the soul and the rain starting back now all the rafters have been cut off the same length see I cut off the four fours they were too tall and I put in that corner brace that's a permanent now these temporary ones can come down and now this porch project is waiting on ten I'll probably put another corner brace here and one on the other side the hurricane clips are in I haven't swept the dirt off of it tomorrow we'll get the tent on call it done fortune we should finish up day at least the rain is going the Sun is here and when you're put on ten roof it's good to have windy conditions it is windy anyway this is not really tennis some kind of fiber glass is transparent it blocks out 99% of the harmful UV rays there's that one totally owes windy anyway I'm gonna cut these off they're 10 feet long either 20 foot 12 feet long they need to be 10 feet long here's the porch completely finished with the roof own transparent smoke gray roof still let's light through it gives you some shade it takes you from the weather right and here it is about two weeks later there's some rails on the porch that's a crow board cut in half ripped down the middle one board made all four rails there's now a flowerbed there is a little step here it is all done I think it turned out great
