[Music] hey guys how's it going it's aj with everyday patio here and thanks for tuning in i want to say thank you for everybody that's been watching our videos commenting like and subscribing it means the world to me and lucy and everyone that we work with so thankful for the positive support and the people that have been choosing to actually work with us but moving forward with this video this is going to be the third job i've actually done at this property they've been kind of redoing their yard and stages so we finally moved to this part of the yard they're getting rid of this angled patio cover that rolled roofing on top and you can see here we're just taking it off in sections whoever built it put a lot of work into it it just wasn't the best looking patio cover deck thing that deck too they they secured that so well to the ground that they were never they never thought that this thing was going to be taken down so here you're just seeing we had to cut it in sections because it was just so many redheads were put into the ground we just had to break it apart me and jason there you know slowly dismantling this thing it always impresses me how much work people put into something rather than hiring a professional you know this could have been done a lot easier without without all this over engineering those are the bolts the red heads i think the issue they were running into was just the height it was such a low deck so we're grinding off the redheads the homeowner's gonna have a a concrete guy come out and pour a slab to raise the foundation of the room so that way water doesn't try to go into the room when it rains and that's the main concern of sun rooms you gotta make sure there's proper water drainage so a lot of times it's smart just to get a proper slab put in before moving on to the rest of the sunroom build cinder blocks pony walls those are all normal things when you're doing a sunroom a little bit about these rooms they're made by four seasons in see-through they all have thermal breaks in them um they've been updated in 2021 and have a lot of low e dual pane features on the glass it's a it's a really good product i stand by it and i'm glad any time we get to build it there's some cheaper sunrooms out there and like two inch wall systems but it really uh yeah they can end up looking a little bit cheap at the end so it's good just get it if you're going to get a room get the proper brand and size walls you don't want to have a two inch wall system and here we're cutting for the first piece so on this build i kind of made it so the first wall section is going to be cut to the height that it's going to be at the house and then the rest of the room we didn't cut that day because i'm going to adjust for slope at the end and then shorten all the top layers of the the wall system but that first track on the wall that i'm putting in is the height that it's going to be at the end of the day so that's what the rest of the room is going to be sloped off the following day and then you can see the red heads there every two feet and then they're going to be one at every h and one in every mole and on the room so those are like the structural points [Music] that's the new mulian kind of system that they've created for the electrical it's kind of a interlocking system it makes running the electrical a little bit easier because you actually have room to run your wires through and don't have to cut out the boxes and the extruded aluminum anymore you can put in the electrical box and then put in the cladding around it and then we're trying to get to that corner as fast as possible because once you get to that corner you have shear strength and then the room is solid you got a level as you're going to as you see there i use the two foot level on each window section those windows were on this job in between 36 48 and 54 inch wide windows all at the 54 inch height so that's the corner piece going in and then we're going to build the front wall so we can attach those two two parts to the wall system you also have the option when you get these rooms to put glass above and below glass kick plates and upper transoms it's does end up looking really awesome too so there we're leveling the walls to each other the windows on this uh particular room system are drop in so you have to make sure every single wall area is level or they're not going to properly open and close [Music] and that's the corner going in so one of the most important parts of the room so you can see there it became a lot more stable because of the sheer strength of two walls holding each other [Music] and that's the other corner going in so before i can finish off this corner of the room we need to cut in for the door so it's going to be a sliding glass door again low e um i cut out the bottom track where we put the door and then i glaze in seal around that door with a urethane caulking so it's waterproof and then we were able to build the rest of that door system and here we're working on the top track so that top track you can see there's a little channel on the top that gets covered with a little piece of cladding at the end that's where you run your electrical when you're doing the room and it goes into those wall partitions you see where there's an opening those are all they're called mullions but you can use them for electrical also as door supports that's the top track going on that side once you get the top track on and the hanging channel on which we're putting up right now you're able to put on the roof of the patio cover it's all an insulated roof system right here we're connecting the gfis on the room so proper gfi wiring is important when you're doing these rooms you don't want live electrical touching the aluminum so it's you shouldn't have any plugs that aren't gfcis on the room technically you can get away with having one gfci and um a lot of people do that because that'll affect anything on the circuit but um that only works if it's wired properly and this is the roof going up [Music] they're all interlocking panels we're going to seal them twice before the end of this video to make sure there's no leaking through them to minimize any uh water penetration into the room you just multiple layers of sealant are normally recommended at least that's what i recommend let's see those corner pieces on the room that it did to make sure that the room wasn't shifting as we were putting on the roof same thing applies when you're putting up the roof panels you want to screw in the roof panel to both sides of the wall so it's tied together properly and here we're dropping in the windows so this is a really quick part of the build if you've properly leveled off your wall sections as you were going that's the gutter going on the front and drainage was mostly sent to the right on this room the homeowner is actually collecting some of the rain water so eventually there's going to be a rainwater system over there with some tanks on the other patio cover there already is one [Music] and those are the two patio covers we built before one was just an open style lattice um that they ended up having somebody put shades on afterwards and then the other was kind of like a angled patio cover to follow the wall line it was a really cool build and here we're getting all the cladding put in to cover all the electrical areas that's the top track being covered over you kind of get a soft hammer and do it little by little cut your pieces roughly to size and that's the wiring for the fan which i believe was the end of the electrical in this room they're not putting in the fan yet but they just wanted it there if they want to do it later also those are some updated lights we've had a lot of the lights now that we get which is kind of a cool thing in the past here that's come around is you can change the color of the light from 2700k to 5k one being like uh more living room light like a brown light and then one being kind of like a white light at 5k it's a pretty cool thing that we now are able to offer and here we're at the end of the room so i'm really glad with how this room came out they added in flooring later too which looks great they mudded the walls and eventually painted over with that blue it really comes together great and became the room that i think they really wanted and we're i'm very thankful to have built it and everybody everyday patio too so if you're looking forward to more videos about patio covers sunrooms and backyard remodels please uh subscribe to everydaypatio we have a lot more content coming and look forward to showing it all to you guys so i hope you have a great day and everyday patio out
