if you want to get this Ultra glossy finish on your wood countertop watch this video till the end and I'm gonna show you how you can do it too hello guys welcome to creative process DIY in today's video I'm gonna show you how to apply clear epoxy to Butcher Block countertop Dave poxy is really messy so mask everything as you can see I did finish masking the walls so now we need to protect the kitchen cabinets run plastic along the front edge of your cabinets at the very top just under the countertop the plastic should be long enough to allow epoxy to drip off the countertop without touching your cabinets or floors as you can see plastic I'm using two and a half to three feet longer than my cabinets [Music] when you finish masking everything we can move on to the next step if you forgot to remove some of the imperfections or marks from countertop it's a good idea to do it right now and don't forget to clean the surface this product costs 140 dollars before tax to apply epoxy I got latex paintbrush in the Box you have site being hardener and side a resin also I purchased multi-mix small bucket if you're using the same product you can use calculator on Home Depot website or you can put your measurements and calculate how much epoxy you need for your project pour the hardener side there into the container with resin site a and mix it well for 6 minutes do not use an electric mixer because it creates many bubbles if you have a clean mixture container pour the hardener and resin into it and mix it for an additional 6 minutes pour the mixture onto the countertop spread the epoxy mixture that you just poured onto the countertop with the paint brush and coat the entire surface evenly and thoroughly right up to the edges you have about 10-15 minutes working time after glaze coat is completely mixed before product begins to harden do not pour more than 1 8 of an inch thick in an application mix only as much as you can pour and spread at one time the mixture of resin and hardener produces Heat the larger the batch the more heat is generated in a relatively short time this reduces working time [Music] surface bubbles must be removed when surface is still wet not once surface Begins the curing process or else bubbles will turn into dimples I'm using a heat gun to remove bubbles keep the heat gun 8 to 10 inches above the surface use a slow sweeping motion move the heat gun over freshly poured glaze coat several times until surface is bubble free be sure to use a waving action so the surface is only slightly warmed allowing remaining air bubbles to disappear [Music] oh when finished check the surface repeat the previous steps and apply epoxy to the rest of your countertops I just finished with all of the countertops now I'm checking the surface for bubbles one more time everything looks good and we can clean up the edges you can use a paint stick in order to remove drips from the bottom Edge I am using a shim m all right wait for 10-15 minutes to remove any remaining drips when epoxy stopped dripping we can remove protective plastic [Music] foreign the edge of the countertop and remove any remaining drips so we have a little stuff to the left this is the final result I think it's really really nice and this is I've already covered epoxy I think it turned out really good for the full cure 72 hours now you can install your kitchen sink and start using your countertops I'm gonna put all products I used in this video in the description below if you like the video hit the like button subscribe to my channel and share this video with others thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video foreign
