How Should We Pray? Shaykh Abu Bakr Akoo

[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] prayer is a very important part of any believer's life and therefore i would like to talk about the correct and best way to pray to god in the quran we learn to pray to god with our faces on the ground and when we look at other religions such as christianity we find that christians today worship god in the churches in different many ways and so the question that arises is what is the best way to worship god or rather we cannot really decide on what is the best way can we of course our mere minds cannot know by itself which way to serve god best however if we believe in scripture and if we believe that god sent prophets and messengers to the world such as moses abraham and joshua etc etc then the bible would be some kind of a source for christians to determine whether they are worshiping god correctly and so if we study and look into the bible we find that abraham in genesis chapter 17 verse 3 he fell upon his face in prayer if you look at the book of nehemiah chapter 8 verse 6 the people who are worshiping god with israel fell upon their faces and in the first book of kings chapter 18 verse 42 we find that elijah the great prophet he cast himself upon the earth and placed his face between his knees on the earth and worshiped god if you look at the book of numbers chapter 20 verse 6 moses and aaron went to the door of the tabernacle and they put their faces on the ground in worship and even in the new testament in the gospel of matthew chapter 26 verse 39 jesus peace be upon him went a little further in the garden of gethsemane and fell upon his face yes jesus fell upon his face and so when i read these references in the bible i was pleasantly surprised at the contrast between what the prophets of the bible i'm not talking about the quran now i'm talking about the prophets of the bible mentioned in the bible are recorded in the bible to have prayed to god in a manner that is unique to the way muslims pray to god because if you look around in case you know we haven't noticed or you haven't noticed the only people in the world today who pray to god the way the prophets prayed in the bible are muslims even though muslims are not actually following today's version of the bible so what do we make of this well this to some extent would answer the question of what is islam because islam dear friends i want to emphasize one very important point about it is that islam is not a religion christianity is a religion named christianity after the name of an individual called jesus christ judaism is named after the son of jacob called judah and hence you have the name judaism after judah hinduism also is named after a geographical location of the land of hind and therefore it's called india but islam whose name is islam which person was called islam which land or place was called islam no nothing no place and no person because the word islam dear friends means submission submission to god a muslim means one who submits and surrenders himself to god and therefore islam transcends religions and therefore you can find that the bible is showing that the muslim prayer is the true prayer because the bible is advocating what muslims the teachings of islam because islam is not a religion per se but islam is submitting oneself to god and this is where we see the beauty of the truth of islam may allah god almighty enable us to understand and distinguish the truth from falsehood thank you assalamu assalamualaikum you
