Wow! Now AMD have a good claim of why delay the 3950X... Jebating games. LoL... and Steve clearly mentioned in that video that he believes AMD is dictating CPU prices atm. I do agree. They have leverage. Good tactics!

From a PC World article:

Indeed, compared to its $1,999 predecessor, Intel’s new 18-core Core i9-10980XE Extreme Edition chip is downright cheap at $979. If that's still too rich for you, there's hope: Intel has priced its 10-core Core i9-10900X chip at a mere $590.

I’ve always assumed intel was better but after the ryzen 3rd gen I got pcparts and I’m building it TOMORROW. Got a ryzen 7 3700x To be fair I’ve only ever used a laptop which had an intel core i5 6300hq

ah okay I think we might be live I am doing this one without a camera operator today so let me know if you can hear everything and see everything okay we're gonna be covering a news announcement that I just traveled about 14 hours for and then the embargo was pulled forward to lift at the time when I was getting off the plane back home we'll talk about that more in a moment let me know if you can hear and see everything okay and we'll give the show on the road let's see let me mute my system sound here - just you don't get this cord notifications okay we're live all right so we're gonna this is not like a normal stream that we do this is going to be a news show I'm going to go through some stuff live with you all some slides from Intel I'll talk about some of what I did today thank you for letting me know that authority on video is good that's extremely helpful today Andrew was not scheduled to be in today I actually so here's what happened Intel invited us to an event and by us I mean me and the event was in New York City we are about two hours flying away from New York City so I got on a plane at 4:30 or actually woke up at 4:30 in the morning got on a plane at about 7:00 maybe landed there at about 9:00 a.m. went to meet them which took a while because a car and New York City met with Intel at 11:00 a.m. the meeting was done at 12:00 p.m. I went to the airport so I was back at the airport within two hours of landing at said Airport to do this meeting just got home so my day started something like 14 and plus hours ago anyway the reason this is a live stream instead of a normal announcement is our normal news video is because in top hold in its embargo Intel panicked and I think the thumbnail says Intel panics the title says something like how it ought to announce the product there's a reason for that reason number one those things are true Intel the panic a bit at the the leak that went out through video cards net that leaked is accurate we're gonna talk about it and instead of leaving the embargo as is or maybe pulling it in a little bit until like ripped at the the rug that all of the media we're standing on and toppled us all over and has pulled the embargo lifts time that's the time at which we are allowed to officially cover the news to about an hour ago so that's that's my day but anyway Intel did properly panic at that Intel's also got an interesting reaction to Andy's pricing and full disclosure yeah let me tweet this out the tubby how not to announce a product title in here is in part because like I said I just spent my whole day traveling and I pay for the tickets we pay for those now ourselves so I am in fact trying to get people to click on this video so there's your full disclosure because I don't want this entire day to be a waste we are live talking about how I wasted 14 hours so hi I'm just tweeting this out I've got a code I just made it on the store as well if you want to go store da Kara's excess net the code is I think it's just it's in the bottom of the screen it should just say Steve wants to die it'll give you ten percent off the store if you use that code and I'm sure my distributor will probably give me a call what he sees the orders coming and say Steve what's uh what's going on so anyway that's the code today we are live to talk about the Intel announcements and how Intel panicked in making that said announcements okay come watch alright cool so that's gonna be tweeted out alright let's let's start going over this stuff I'm gonna check on chat house chat be nice of their ex to 99 compatible they are they are X to 99 compatible in fact thanks David Thomas for that 20 bucks nothing to say just want to support the channel thank you I appreciate that so any thoughts on chat so far on how the do you try the salsa from New York City I didn't get to do anything in New York City I got off the plane in New Jersey and ewr I got into a cab I arrived at the Intel meeting location I met with Intel for well I thought it was going to be 60 to 90 minutes was what my expectation was then I was told 30 to 45 minutes and then I was really like guys I really hope this is good anyway it was great meeting the people meeting the people for the Intel event was worth the time but the news announcement unfortunately was not and that's because intel has reshuffled how it's how it decided to do this announcement alright so let's go over this I am going to try something I haven't done before in a stream CCI just doubled my patreon amount stop whining thank you if I may request this CC I know you're a regular viewer we really appreciate you can I please request that I I can continue whining just for this stream just just this one please my title depends on it okay well do me a new chipset now so the I'm gonna try putting an image on the screen let me know if you stopped being able to hear me when it goes up I haven't done this before can you see that and can you still hear me so this yes you are getting a first impressions this is properly a first impression this to answer the question in chat and will you ever sell GN logo stickers I actually did we do there aren't stored at Karen cycles Donna can you still hear me please answer that question and we'll start talking about this slide so and I also sorry my nose is running a bit but like I said I've been flying all day and I didn't have time to fix it okay still works thank you appreciate that okay so the announcement this is an Intel official slide I am allowed to show this so what you have here is the core X series these are in fact the real names the names are actually hey Patrick when I get your first take on these names we're gonna bring Patrick out here he did not go to New York with me he's been working here all day and he's not miked so I'm just gonna hold my mic over to him so Patrick the names of the processors are I nine one zero nine eight zero X e iodine 1 0 4 0 X 1 0 2 0 X and 10,000 X no wait sorry 10900 X 1 0 9 2 0 X where the 4 0 X + 2 0 X come from well what like that's a there's keeping with the theme they're going from like nine to 10 but I don't so that's the core count okay which I would expect no normal consumer to now and then they did with the 7000 but I guess the real question is how do you feel about having one two three how do you feel about having five digits and two letters and I product it sorry six digits and three letters feel great about it the more information you put in the product name the better and the easier it is to market yes that is that's correct the more information you heard it here first the more information you can put in the product name the better we're we're hoping Intel announces the Intel Core i nine nine nine nine nine eight zero x e 3.1 for addition next alright okay let's go that's that image back up I realized I should have hidden it earlier so yes the names are a real the the naming is I nine obviously the ones here is the generation 9 8 0 XE sticks with 99 80 79 AD XE naming that's an 18 core it's a 165 watt TDP TDP is a pointless number from both AMD and Intel but we'll talk about that more later and for channel still ddr4 29 33 so it's gone up an official sport from 2666 and then that is in fact a change you can go higher than that with XMP but that's official support the pricing is a big change here so if you look at that price column $1000 now for that that 9 sorry the 18 core 1 0 9 8 0 X e so so that's the big news then is the price the price oh I haven't plugged our sponsor yet sponsor for today's video is the gigabyte 2 X 570 master motherboard the X 5 Sunday master is what we used for all of our rise in benchmarking for the 3000 series I use it for liquid nitrogen overclocking and was pretty successful with it we did end up getting to finally about 5.2 ish 5.3 sorry about the crinkling alright so if you would like to pick up a board that we've battle-hardened the wrong board hey pageant can you get me an x5 70 master box I got the elite by accident the elites still find though if you want something more for it well thank you anyway battle-hardened I've got a link to it in the description if you want to pick it up and that'll be our sponsor for the for the stream on this one so I think we have okay that works I'll let you put it on the table Thank You Patrick you cool I think we got it back I was funny we're gonna lose a lot of a lot of year I think we're back we should be live right now that was fun can you double check Patrick make sure it's back back question mark okay man that sucked I think we're back all right refresh if you are getting drops oh we're back back live keep an eye on the stream for me let me know if it drops out let me check hardware info Co temperature is at five everybody spam chat let them know ctrl + f5 to fix stream issues ok sorry about that yeah is what happens when you throw it all together because the company doing the announcement pulls the embargo in by seven days temperatures fine on the CPU suite okay all right I don't know what happened to answer your question I restarted OBS and then everything magically work as it does yeah I thought Patrick might have tripped on a cable what is his watch okay so anyway XY Saudi master is the sponsor you can click it in the link in the description below so if you're on a Mac I don't know what the alternative controllers Intel CPUs so the CPU is then are the the big ones gonna be the ten core in my opinion and the ten core is a it's an interesting part because let's get those prices on the screen the ten core is supposed to be like six hundred is that that's about six hundred yeah about six hundred dollars and that puts it close to Intel needs something at the high end this is what I was just telling Intel at the event and come on stop I'm with you okay you're gonna get banned leonhart don't tell this stuff spamming I'll just hide okay so yeah the Intel issue right now is pretty straightforward it's that Intel's got some pretty easy ways to recommend it at the high-end 900k and 9700 K getting the names all mixed up now thanks and tell those two are pretty in the right scenario the easy to recommend because kind of hard to beat the game performance and AMD is extremely competitive its effectively killed the i5 category in our opinion we never recommend i-5 basically ever now so the only reason to get it's the IGP maybe if you can find to use for that sure but the r5 3600 pretty unbeatable at this point at its it's in this category the 3600 versus the 9600 K it's about a 13% performance Delta favoring the the 9600 K so Intel is favored there but the reason we've stopped recommended recommending the i-5 is because even though there's a performance advantage in gaming sometimes there's a few issues one you throw away half the thread count that does matter if you do anything outside of gaming basically ever it will largely impact your performance with a 3600 you can do really well with something like premier and a lot of people do you get into some basic level content creation but let's say you don't do any of that you only game the problem we have thigh 5 is that when it does poorly it does exceptionally poorly and that's because of frame time variability where modern game engines we use upwards of 8 threads without much issue these days too they implemented it years ago game developers have finally caught up and if you're getting buffering do control f5 it's just all I can't and so the problem then with ni 5 is really that despite an average lead in games when it's bad it's really bad and the R 5 although behind on average in games and raw frame rate is more consistently good and something that you can more consistently rely on for a decent gaming experience so Intel has lost the i-5 category as far as we're concerned and that leaves Intel with the high end and Intel I was getting a little nervous for them there because the 3900 X is starting to compete there too so Andy is next launches are really gonna rip that away from Intel pretty fast if Intel can't respond and do something more than a refreshed 9900 K and you're basically watching a live news report right now so this is kind of how we would do it on camera than we'd edit it down so the 9900 K then will now have a companion above it a ten core CPU and that should give Intel a bit of a safety net as Andy continues to compete in that high-end category its $90 more expensive than a 3900 X and it's more expensive than a 99 hundred K obviously but it's cheaper than the $1000 price point of the 7900 ax originally and that's a big deal for Intel it's gonna be tough to compete though so that part does look pretty promising that 10 core part it's interesting it's within realm for high-end enthusiasts people who can who can actually afford that extra couple hundred bucks it's not like the 99 ATX II where 2 grand you've now exited the category were people who are willing to spend a lot of money on a really cool gaming computer or willing to spend that money you've exited that category and entered a different category altogether and that was the problem with h EDT so yes the the stance has changed i 5 used to be quoted by us and everyone else as enough for gaming not the case anymore we don't really particularly rely on it enough so Intel's positioning itself where it can continue to fight in the high end with that 10 core part and that's gonna be good for Intel but it's not cheaper so Intel's brought its prices down but it's still not going lower than AMD for the most part and that's an interesting point because until it's kind of cornered in that it's hard for Intel a company which has positioned itself as like quality reliability market leader it's hard for Intel to bring down the price especially below or at parity with AMD because as Intel does that it's an admission that Intel is in fact no longer able to stand on just its reputation it needs more and it needs either performance or value and so intel's got to bring the prices down imagine and video doing that it's kind of hard to it's hard to think of a world where nvidia brings its prices down to match the AMD navi or AMD GPU prices we saw it with the Super Series Nvidia new the pricing and jebaited aside Nvidia still ended up priced a head above Andy Navi and that's because I'm video doesn't compete on price it tries to compete on features and on its reputation Intel's losing that ability in CPUs and so it's going it has to compete on price now which is really interesting anyway this is all off the top here I this stuff but you're getting the the raw take on it so there's the chart one more time if you missed it the nine ATX Evo so on average if you didn't know I say a product name about 81 times in a product review I'm gonna have to say Intel I nine ten nine ATX e eighty times in our review when it goes up but anyway the all core is 3.8 gigahertz the turbo for single or for the limited let's call it limited core turbo I'm not sure exactly how much I can say here limited core turbo has gone up from about four point five to four point eight that's a pretty significant jump the cache is the same the PCIe laying count has increased by four so they've added four more lanes to the CPU side I think it's forty eight now I want to say instead of 44 and TDP is is about where was so that one I'm actually genuinely very interested in the eighteen core I liked the eighteen core CPU a lot when we worked with it but the value was really tough but as a product and serve the performance is pretty fun to work with and overclocking really fun to work with it's just that making that jump from fun to work with to worth buying is a really big jump and at two grand we have limited recommendations before AMD de it's more recent launches it was easier to say you know what super high end video production machine enthusiasts yeah sure go for it if you can afford it go for it if you're making money off of this processor off of this computer but if you're not making money off of the product then it's kind of hard to justify so that's changed though at $1,000 we'll see depending on what and the this all now hinges on Andy and the next threader for launch that's it so thread Ripper currently versus an 18 core from Intel for $1000 the frequency advantage and some other advantages it is a favorable battle for Intel where Intel can actually look pretty good but we don't know is threader for 3000 pricing and we know some of the specs but we don't really know the performance and how it correlates with those so that's gonna be the real battle to look at is how do these compare they're launching in in November for both products so yes they are still on 14 nanometer this is cascade Lake it's not sky like X it is functionally a refresh but it's cheaper so one big question there is what kind of margin didn't L have before but anyway let's do a couple that let me hit a couple super chats really quickly there's not many of them I'm gonna try and keep them low today so first one was readeth and I'll do the the next slide in a moment the first question was he are from readeth Graham $5 thank you so I guess I should return my 9900 ex-ira just bought for the same price of the ten nine whoa Oh a ten nine hundred I misread that these names are Intel if you're watching and I think probably someone from Intel is watching because they know I was really pissed off at how this happened because again recapping it woke up 4:30 a.m. got on a plane at 7:00 landed at 9:00 when to Intel for one hour went to the airport got on a plane landed home 20 minutes before starting the stream and because of video cards published a leaked Intel panicked pulled the embargo back to today and now we're doing this stream instead of a normal news video anyway Intel I guess I was saying if someone from Intel is watching these names are really bad please don't do these next generation so someone says I just bought the 10900 XE should I return it honestly so the the downside to the 10 series that the X series is going to be mesh it's fine for gaming you'll be advantaged in some games you'll leave it behind in some games where the extra courts don't benefit you and the frequency deficit will hurt a little bit and the mesh might hurt a little bit but you can overclock those things without doing anything crazy you don't need liquid nitrogen for that you can just do a base level master overclock with water cooling and you can get pretty good performance now I haven't tested the part so I don't know exactly where it'll perform my instinct though in response to your question would be unless you need a system now today I would return your 9900 ex you just bought and grab that 10 series but I don't know what the availability will be of the 10900 and I haven't tested it but that's my instinct to answer your question that's what I would do X 299 boards there will be new boards coming I know of some the dark is still really good and the we worked with a gigabyte board the extreme or the gaming 7 or 9 whatever it was that was really good as well worked with that in the past the chipset is the same next question there's I'm only gonna let's do like 4 of these and then I'll do some more news and then we'll come back to these David Thomas $20 oh no they'd say I want to support the channel thank you you can also support the channel if you want to get something in return by using the code was he wants to die Steve wants to die for 10% off the GM store during the stream today it was a lot of travel for I mean it's not like we go to Taiwan that's a lot of travel but this was a lot of travel for one day I guess it's yeah whatever anyway next one and I'll check normal chat moment next one is Daniel Silva fortnight ago thank you for going to New York yeah it was great to meet the people from Intel there that was very useful contacts to make and and good discussion with them I wish they had handled this announcement differently but anyway I'm trying to make up for it in the views now by titling the video the way I did and with the thumbnail which are both accurate but they're a bit on the clickbait side I apologize I hope you can understand I'm trying to make some ROI here because I did pay for the tickets and a lot of time p.m. $5 would you say Andy's controlling the CPU market this is a great question if so how do you how long do you think so I'm gonna find it but milk that's nice name do I think any of these controlling a CB market here's what I think is really interesting intel has parks that are good and are competitive and do really well at the things they do they also have parts that are extremely uncompetitive still fine by standard definition of not being broken but not particularly competitive so is Andy controlling the CPU market my answer to that I'm gonna go with actually yes and if you asked me this right when rise in one launch or even a little bit into rising one six months in I would have said no the reason I would have said no is because AMD at that time was still preparing for its next launch as a response to what Intel was doing the 900k didn't exist yet so Andy it was a really interesting situation and he had finally a product that was pretty good and competitive but it had a massive market share deficit it had a deficit of people understanding the product it had problems with BIOS it had problems with partners and liquid cooler availability air cooler availability all kinds of issues so AMD with Rison one did not control the market in any way whatsoever AMD had to follow Intel and try to respond Intel as is evidenced by again this is a great question beyond thank you as is evidenced by this slide AMD I don't think I even have to make a case is controlling the market those price drops fifty percent the ninety nine eighty XC was you do stat math in funny ways was a hundred percent more expensive before and with a 2x increase in price from where it is with this new one coming out yes and the is controlling the market that wouldn't have happened if AMD didn't get its butt into gear and make a really competitive processor that was also insanely aggressively priced to the point that and he's probably not looking at its pricing actually it did with rise in three thousand and going okay we needed to start increasing this we've we've done what we need to do to get people to recognize the product as competitive now we need to make the money instead of cutting our margins as low as possible and it's all really brilliantly done with the multi dye approach because now your costs a fab goes way down your ability to save the silicon and Bennett elsewhere has gone up so it's it's a really good strategy by AMD hats off to them yes answer your question Andy is controlling the CPU market in terms of pricing absolutely until still has stuff in the pipe and has had it's 10 nanometer in the pipe for a very long time now but thank you haha if the fight started to lean that so Intel's had it stuff in the pipe for a long time but it's still responding to Andy on price how visible is that it's not on the screen yet let's see that's not bad actually if you're watching full screen drown mobile sorry so Patrick's done us a big favor here he's helped me with the names although I don't actually know if that the prefixes to these I'd have to look at the slide that's an i-9 I don't know what those are those are the specs for you Thank You Patrick is that base correct for the ten nine eight zero is it three please it really 3.0 didn't actually look this is this from the image I sent here that is correct okay cool thanks yeah so there's your specs 18 core 36 two heads this is like this is how to make a video on a budget 36 thread 10940 X 14 core 28 thread 10 9 to 0 X terrible names 12 core 24 thread 10 900 X 10 core 20 thread the ones that I think are interesting that one the 10 core and that one the 18 core I really enjoyed working with 18 core I don't know if it's it's a good value we'll see what the hell thread Ripper 3 does but anyway interestingly the 16 core is gone and tells eliminated it because it actually realized this irony until now until eliminated the 16 core because there are too many products in their stack and they were worried it was confusing ha worrying about the products being confusing probably could have started with the names not gonna stop who needs a green screen you have Patrick a whiteboard yes absolutely so anyway yeah that's that's the base there's one other slide I haven't done here Oh Xena if I have a question I've been waiting for a stream from you to simply ask one question gamers exes does any current Jeep you benefit from PCIe for not any current consumer gaming GPU no is the simple answer I'm not sure how the deep learning and Enterprise targeted stuff behaves that may be but not consumer okay so let's look at the next slide five digit names are not confusing at all yeah and that's the sad thing it's not even five there's another one before that that we've cut off because it takes too much space oh yeah and this is a good point to talk about the 350 acts in the sixteenth quarter so that's really interesting to me because so first of all I do want to say something in Intel's favor here which is that it's not just a quarter core battle Intel still has frequency a bit on its side it's got some other advantages overclocking if you like that as I know there's a really small audience I'm I'm really narrowing it down but if you do that for fun the Intel CPUs are still gonna get you higher scores and things but if you're like who cares about a stupid high score that's totally pointless to me you're absolutely right it's a segment I wanted to note but frequencies Intel's got that in theory got an advantage we'll see how threader four three looks but the 3950 X interestingly would fall right here that processor supposed to be $750 the 10940 X is seven hundred and eighty four dollars and the ten nine eight zero I feel so bad for Roman for dare Bower he just learned that in English we all shortened the names like 9900 K instead of 9900 K and now he's gonna have to figure this out Roman give me a call I'll give you some English lessons on how to say these names once I figure out how to say them efficiently because I haven't so the 16 card fall right here and that would put it in the 800 ish range so two things here that's above the 16 core from AMD if you only care about cores 16 core from and Z looks good it's not only about cores Intel will have things I bring his performance up we've seen it you see it in the 8 core versus 8 core battles of desktop CPUs and things like gaming yeah Intel still has a lead and it is measurable and it is meaningful so it's not as simple as core versus core I do want to kind of distill that and say you can't can't boil it down that simply if you're doing an application only cares about cores and threads yeah cheaper ones gonna benefit you but even so though Intel basic product marketing is you create enough products where people look at the high end there's a halo market in fact they get really attached to it they want it they look at the low end and then hopefully your your goal is that they're looking at that one that's 784 dollars versus a thousand dollars and they're going well you know I I think I can make that jump and I'm only building this system once every X years so okay I'll do it that's kind of what they're hoping for there and then removing the 16 will increase the amount that people are spending willing to move up one level 10 9 ATX II question mark yeah that might be it that might be the efficient way both comments are great on this okay let's do I get that other slide up yep here it is this is the other slide I'm allowed to show so new and featured technologies the featured section is mostly without too much point here I mean unlocked okay that's you know that's what they are it's not a surprise 4.8 gigahertz is the the limited threat boost I think is safe phrasing for me to say right now the memory capacity has doubled and the let's see deep learning boost is something I want to talk about separately I don't know how much of that is marketing avx-512 stuff versus actually new and Platt for the PCIe lanes have increased in total by four the ethernet controller is now a 2.5 gigabits per second which if you're kind of asking what's the point of that I can absolutely see why you'd ask that and I kind of fall in that category too I think I have an answer I saw this discussion online earlier and it was an interesting one I think the there's probably I'm sure there's some of you who work with with networking on a daily basis can give me a good list of things that 2.5 makes a lot of sense for but the one I saw that makes good sense was if you have like an older building that has wiring in the walls you don't really have the ability the means to rewire it or you can't rewire it or whatever and you have some some fade in the speed because of either the type of cable use the duration of the length of the run rather or whatever maybe at that point 2.5 makes enough sense where you're not buying a 10 gigabit card because you can't get 10 G speeds but you can get more than one and so you fall in that middle category I don't know that's kind of one of the better explanations I saw but anyway that is actually not worthy and Wi-Fi sticks in there so maybe use Roman numerals for the Intel 10g so god that's not depend on how we use those if we spell it out as the full number and not just digits then that would be terrible ok yeah so that's it let's do some more questions here and and then I will someone's a good analogy I appreciate that I wish I remember what it was that I said this is all off the top today because like I said flew to New York met with Intel for an hour flew home checked my phone while sitting waiting to get up on the plane and it's like oh ok cool the embargo lifts in 15 minutes great can't wait to not have a break and also not be able to repair a quality video anyway my apologies for the quality play pencil but then the 10 core looks interesting anything core is interesting to me let me do some super chats so we had the big owl 268 great to see you always to see you in the chat $20 here you go Steve get some tater tots on me I might actually do that tonight I haven't eaten yet since I landed in New York at 9:00 a.m. so I would very that was one of the reasons I was annoyed I miss cuz I didn't get a chance to grab food first iris giant $2.00 what cpu are you using it is not the 79 80 XC if you're trying to bring that meme back I'm sorry although I do want to put it in a system in use because it's a good CPU it really is valia wasn't great but the it was really good performance genuinely so as much as the intel has been taking the brunt of the joke here the butter has been the part of the joke rather wishbone $2 I'm more excited for next gen D and here go or NeoGeo me then Atari VCS well I I'd be happy to look at either of them if it's Harvey CS ever happens Zak D $20 flights aren't cheap just finished an X $2.99 build on the 99 40 which I waited yeah you know what else isn't cheap is that build but the good news is there's not too much point in feeling a bunch of fires remorse over it because the parts you decided you wanted those and you thought they were good for your use when you bought them and that's still true now so you didn't get screwed a bit on the pricing for which I'm sorry there's nothing I can do a via Slee but I didn't know about the prices until today either and let's see whisky Omega $5 I'll double my patreon and keep whining okay I'll do that thank you I think you measure semesters just about the Aqua also I'm not sure on that I'll let you know shipping would kind of suck Benji 745 $10 thanks for already go thanks for being the best source hardware news I know of keep up the good work if you think this is a great source of hardware news I apologize because this by our standards is lower quality than we would like but I think it's still been pretty fun because I'm like normal news videos where I compress down into a pretty dense script 20 minutes or less and probably 10 for this announcement really this one we got some really good questions from chat so thank you it made the video of the stream a lot more interesting especially that one about do you think AMD controls the CPU market great question so we get some fun discussion here we wouldn't normally have and uh that's thanks to chat but thank you for the support Benji much appreciated height react $10 Canadian Intel but that's all 40 nanometer shortage plus a big drop in margin that's for damn sure equals Intel will only provide thins of life cascade Lake X making this nothing more than a PR stunt I'm curious about how right you are that that's reasonable to to forecast we'll see we'll see it's I think you've got some good foresight there you might be right but we'll see Jennifer Roger $10 thank you no message but thank you very much Bob Flanders $5 hi Steve did you make this on an i-9 - one zero zero zero nine eight nine zero x ee ee no I actually used the i9 - three five I use the eye 9 - 8 6 7-5 3 or 9 there we go I forgot to forget the first part I forgot the words ok so let me grab some more any questions about some of this stuff at sea Oh David powers oil Jan sure came in the mail today looks great awesome I'm so glad to hear that this shirt they finally shipped out so thank you for your patience though I think they've all shipped at this point - as of like today okay so let's look at that this slide is basically pointless we don't really have anything to learn here this one was the specs we've gone over those and let me see what their email said what I'm allowed to share so I'm just gonna read the email other than the part that says what not to share so the email basically said it was sent two hours ago which is when I was on the way down and a plane so I was probably about 20 minutes from landing at that point so the email said as you have seen by now an online site has leaked information on the X series that you've recently been briefed on the site was not briefed no kidding as a result we have decided to lift the embargo early on the X series information you been briefed on to be specific we are moving up the embargo information on the x-series listed below only and this is at you know 6:30 was when it lists it lifted Eastern and they said I could share x-series new and featured technology slide included we did that SKU and table price and we did that timing that we are targeting x-series availability in November all other information including can't read that is still under embargo including performance data which I didn't really get so how is a house check on tech deal says I hope they do well depends on the thermal solution I just mmm yeah the thermal solution it it it would make sense if Intel continues on the marketing path they have with stem we'll see I can't really talk about that though okay so super chats and questions about this stuff let me hit those oh and I'll also know it if you want to pick up a store an item from the store to support us and the 14 hours I spent flying to then not have enough time to prepare coverage of the thing and I flew out for you can go to your store that gamers exes dotnet pick the items you want and you get 10% off of the whole order you can use the code Steve wants to die at checkout 10% off in exchange for my suffering today and thank you for your the support I saw there's only like 30 no orders or something earlier that I really appreciate thank you and there's we're shipping as they come in so okay message from is $95 thank you just bought a new car a Renault is Zozo Zoe will buy a GN shirt toolkit mom Matt soon love the content hashtag slack hashtag Sunderland till I die well thank you I hope you enjoy the new car I haven't the least of I know about Renault is from when I I watched a lot of Top Gear back when it was still Top Gear Grand Tour season 2 was really good I haven't watched the newer more recent one or two Jenny on Lu 499 thank you no message doctor who ate 6 7 5 3 or 9 damn it your number the number I wanted to use was right there all this time and I didn't see it uh-huh what will this do to the tatertot market well doctor who ate 6 on 5 309 first of all you will probably be receiving a cease-and-desist posthaste from Intel for use of their next product SKU the Intel I 9 8 6 7-5 3 or 9 which will of course be an 8 core 67 thread processor at 309 gigahertz separately I'm the tatertot market is quite stable I have confidence that it will not be interrupted by this announcer well the processors still be able to cook tater tots as effectively what tater tot compound will be needed I'm sure they you could probably put a you probably get a good thermal interface to a frying pan run it out like a thousand plus watts and get these in the heat to it I don't know our line 2 3 528 Jesus loves me Thank You Arland I do Cory swore on one dolly Thank You readeth Graham I meant to say 10 980 xe2 dollars in response to the earlier message oh they want to buy the 1098 exe not the 10 900 XE damn you spent a thousand bucks on the 9900 K yeah I would return that someone somewhere in a place finalized what are the chances of a gamer's Nexus desk sized mouse pad great question depending on the size of your desk we have one actually in production right now we're getting samples made and they should we have the first round made send them back for QC they're making another one and that one's gonna be top my head I think it's like 34 36 by 12 it's pretty standard size so it's not it's not like the mod mat here that's 4 feet by 2 feet and sorry for using inches that's just--that's off thought my head what we use but it'll be a kind of like similar size to the medium mod back soon for that one Jeremy Clarkson $2 this makes top tier xoc a lot more attainable yes that is something I'm really interested in so I'm excited about the the 980 XC we're gonna call it because for overclocking battles and stuff I really did like where he know the 99 a see his name's 3175 axe which is over there is also I mean it was it was really fun to work with but it's just it's so unattainable and the motherboards one of the board vendors made fifty mother ports when that product launched so what's the volume on that part so yeah this ten nine eight exe at about a thousand bucks that's all one K unit pricing by the way so it'll be a bit higher at retailers at a thousand bucks though it kind of feels like a return to enthusiasts class from seven years ago or so where the ultra high-end was yes very expensive but it still felt attainable to a decent size of the market nothing at all compared to the mainstream desktop part of the market but you know still attainable and then you get to 99 80 XE and it just cuts off everybody basically so yeah I'm I do agree with you I think it it'll make xoc more attainable it'll make competitive overclocking fun for a lot more people it's a small market it's not a market Intel's trying to fill or really anyone except for that one to pop makers and stuff like that but a fun one to me to a PC tech $5.00 900 case should still be much faster rainbows first mesh yes that is correct I literally just bought a 900 case over my 78 20x because it wasn't any faster than my 3700 X yes the night on her case should that was a point I mentioned I think after you said that question but before I saw it the mesh on these processors is probably going to be a bit of a limiter but I think you might be able to make up for it overclocking mesh isn't too difficult and you can on the previous ones of these you can push it to like 30 without well actually I shouldn't say that because I don't remember what I got without extreme cooling I think yeah 30 we were doing 30 without extreme cooling that was with liquid that wasn't a IO CL see it'll depend on the bit on the games once you get into that 18 core class it will be outclassed by 90 100 K and instances where frequency matters more where rain versus mash will matter more at that 10 core part though there are some games where I don't know that that thread differential might matter more and we'll just have to see him testing Matt Lantry $5 hi Steve love that case reviews on your and your channel what's your personal keyboard choice for gaming why using what are they called Tesoro amazing that's a story Oh key word at my desk right now here and I used a Romer G for a number of used I used a g7 ten plus for a number of years I have some Corsair that like that what is a silver switch or whatever at at home I actually kind of hate that one they actuate too easily so I like end up resting my finger just lightly on space and then I hit space a lot but I can tell you the the mouse I like a lot is that G nine hundred chaos spectrum or whatever it's called that one's pretty good keyboard I don't really care to be honest I just kind of use whatever I mean like look at this one this is some membrane from 20 plus years ago let me get like couple more of these and then I'll get back to the normal chat and talking about this stuff somewhere Kim rock her $5 no master zenki Jim Hurley $10 thank you really appreciate that that will pay for my water bottle I bought at the airport have $15 actually mediocre overclocking $10 just wanted to say my lady friend now thinks I grew my hair out to copy you after seeing how long your hair was also I'm called tech Jesus in my CIT class now so watch out I'm coming for your crown do it man with a name like actually meet you over mediocre overclocking I don't know you might be able to pick up some views from people who just think build Zoids a bit too extreme for them a pickle click $24.99 wow thank you $24.99 I'm Intel for life they say but I do need I do need to tip my hat to AMD for finally giving an Intel some competition and helping there were some prices well I I would never say I'm for personally a particular brand for life I'd choose what what makes sense practically at the time but I will say if you decide you like that that's fine you do what you want to do but I agree with you that even if you're like for whatever I think I think people who only by Intel ever are probably not super common versus who only by Andy I feel like the like the fanaticism around AMD is a bit higher and I think that's because Intel was seen as the de facto standard for so long that lost the exciting edge for a lot of people that AMD has because it's like you're watching an underdog obviously so anyway I agree with you if you're only buying Intel those prices are looking pretty good for you compared to you know like a year ago or whatever one of the 99 eight exe came out let me check on chat we'll start closing this as we get through the rest of the information so okay let me get this one Grant Patterson and normal chat so just join the stream so I take it even with a price drop and the estill better value well that's not really the takeaway I want you to have here first of all we really need to see how the 16 core dies from AMD we really need to see how threader for $3,000 from AMD that'll answer your question very well is it Andy still better value in the desktop market that's where I am these competing with like modern generation versus modern generation right now and the answer there is from me going to be yes probably 3,600 is not only better value but we think a better part than the competing i5 parts and I explained that earlier in the stream but when the when the i-5 is bad it's really bad when it's good it's a bit better 13% or so than the 3600 so to us sacrificing that 13% for consistency is worth it and versatility once you get to the high end the 9900 K is so damn good at just raw gaming and shoving frames through the GPU that it is much easier to justify that purchase I have absolutely no problem recommending them 99 or K for people who are working with applications that can leverage it the 3900 ax if you're not only gaming is incredible value so yes Andy is is very good value where it's positioned it's not the best in every category ever and probably hopefully never will be because then then you end up with what happened with Intel a couple years ago where AMD was just out of the market functionally entirely so we don't want that but being the best each one having a best in each category of pricing is good healthy for the market anyway yeah so we'll have to see though on these processors to ask the part of the question of better value we need to see what AMD is how it performs what the threader for 3000 pricing is stuff like that all right so if you're just joining does a lot of people have just joined recently I will explain this again briefly and then hit the rest of the super chats and stuff I'll try to see some normal chats here too so yes great to see competition I agree with you let's go through the recap one more time sorry if you've been here I did ask Cece for permission to keep whining though for this one stream so the recap is first of all the stream is brought to you by the x5 Soni master motherboard which will be linked in the description below last time I mentioned the advertiser the stream crashed hopefully that doesn't happen again I think Intel is watching us um that'll be linked below if you want to pick it up for x5 70 motherboards it did really well on next OC test which means we'll do well and basically everything for overclocking alright so recap 4:30 a.m. got on a plane flew to New York 9:00 a.m. landed went to Intel for one hour got on a plane flew home and all the information actually before I got on the plane to fly this all one day before I got on the plane to fly home all the information was leaked basically two video cards there's some stuff that hasn't been yet but I'm sure it will be probably during the stream and I'll try and keep an eye on it so I can talk about it as soon as I see it go up but the that was the story for today it was basically 14 hours kind of back-and-forth journey for a one-hour meeting for information that leaked and then Intel screwed me on because Intel decided to pull its embargo in to a time which was impossible for me to hit that's why we're streaming this instead of filming a video but it's a lot of fun and we got some really good questions so it's worth it anyway yeah that's the story to catch you up on the specs let's do this here's the chart most of you have seen it at this point but 18 core CPU has come down $1000 in price from 2 grand to 1 this is 1k unit pricing so yeah keep that in mind the retail price to be a bit higher and then the cash is the same the PCIe laying count has gone up by for pulling from the Zeon's of the previous generation as well of I guess equivalent generation to 980 XE and then the memory has increased from 2666 29:33 the what is that the frequency for boosting 4.5 to now 4.8 or there abouts and I think that's that's most the information you need and I've gone over all the parts yeah that's the interesting ones back there well that's all of them that we can talk about but 10 core and 18 core other ones I actually think are really interesting and to care about was this I'm getting messages from motherboard manufacturers because they weren't aware that the embargo is lifted and I have more information than they do presently which is quite sad but also very normal for in the Intel and video like can you send me the email about the embargo moving well I'm not gonna say who sent that message but the answer if you're watching the stream is yes I will send that to you is it true Intel left lifted the embargo yes it is other motherboard manufacturer whom I will not name okay the manufacturers are watching because they weren't expecting this either okay for channels looks like someone's afraid of thread Ripper for channels has been on X series forever like x79 whose quad channel so no that's nothing to do with afraid of thread over afraid of thread Ripper is that the price that's afraid of their head refer the channels has nothing to do with it Intel's been quad channel forever at this point so yeah that's been that's been there okay TDP as useless as usual it's pretty much for both companies yes and these doesn't have power anywhere in the equation intel's has funny stuff going around with boost durations where for a short burst e periods of time you'll exceed the power number TDP that's on the chart but then once it dials back down and you lose the booster ation past 100 seconds or so hundred 20 seconds then you'll fall about where TDP is for power consumption at least on the 99 but yeah okay so when manufacturers get their embargo status from GN yes that's sadly very common no pcie John for I'm I don't have a problem answering this one I think technically it wasn't like in that what you can talk about list but it's pretty easy to get the answer we already know ax 299 is the motherboard going forward this has been known since like Computex so XP 99 there's no new chipset X 299 is not PCIe 4.0 enabled ergo we can assume that X 299 for these CPUs will not be validated for PCIe 4 even though it's dictated by the CPU because it won't be validated one could assume that PCIe gen 4 is probably not natively or will ever be supported on X 299 with these CPUs that's I think that's the you can kind of deduce your way down to that with information that is publicly available are these new CPUs mainly for productivity enthusiasts h EDT class CPUs can absolutely be used for productivity I mean you get the the thing you get with these is unlocked so it's not like a Z on where you're locked down so you can overclock it a bit without going too crazy and have a really good Adobe Premiere Station or a blender station or something like that so yes I would say so gaming at these 18 core part levels actually typically tends to start going down versus a mainstream $500 part that's true for AMD - you look at 29 t WX play a game on it it's atrocious and a lot of games but that's fine because it's not what it's meant to do you can turn on game mode turn off half your cores restart the computer not really great way to do it and it'll be okay but yes these are targeted primarily for productivity use or content creation as the buzzword these days stuff like that $50 from David Emma Heiser I'm gonna go well thank you David I really appreciate that tremendous support no message with that but I do appreciate you thank you David for making my day a bit better I believe that $50 so someone gave $10 earlier that paid for my water bottle at the airport leave the $50 we'll pay for my my plain bagel I got at the airport that's probably about what it cost okay ie there's gonna be a new chipset soon no okay next next yeah we kind of know the chipset because the that information through the public since convey thanks so sorry X 49 was not real actually gigabyte even told us that we published that news back during jambe Thanks okay let me get a couple of these super chats so we had one from a DT $2 the processor CV should be called snowflake hmm that would be easier to say and almost fewer let actually it's very close to the character count does it's actually fewer the fighters characters then Intel Core i nine one zero nine eight zero X II Extreme Edition I guess is XE okay let's start up $10 r7 3700 X X for so many carbon other bowler and an RX 580 GPU in will be man I feel like something that happened while your type of that messages I hope you're okay or it got scrambled in which case I'm just really sorry that I can't answer it ar ar e are 7:30 700 X 470 Carbon other bowler and at rx 580 GPU question mark in will be it will be I agree and will be sorry I don't know how that means Paul Baldwin when I add no comeback yeah where is it risk me or SUV and our DNA is the final nail and Intel Paul Baldwin says we'll see how it unfolds that readeth great actually I will say this up until risin i think arm was probably Intel's greatest threat arm still a big threat to Intel and non desktop applications for sure nan yeah yeah we're arm from beads so it's easy to for us to this is just kind of a sideline but it's easy for us to narrow in on like a and E versus Intel but an arm is actually also a really big consideration pretty big company readeth Graham the reason this is so exciting for some of us is because of Thunderbolt 3 and II still doesn't have that ubiquitously and if you're using it for real work you're likely using Thunderbolt 3 or is it just me I'm actually not sure I don't use Thunderbolt ever but I guess logically that doesn't make sense to me that would be an exciting yeah that's listed on their feature list if we pull that up this was the feature list Thunderbolt 3 support is in fact on there as are a couple of other things so yeah if you're gonna use it that would make it exciting and it's like half the price what it used to be Sarris rnd infer guys this gamers axis no this Patrick Kevin why is $20.00 thank you and I said Lego I'd play well $2 I was wondering what happened to the mule mugs that's pretty easy to answer we have a lot of products for making constantly and tying up that many money that much money for that many things like the toolkits for example where the minimum order quantity was very high means that we had to just focus on the ones we were actively developing and we're really excited about like the toolkits and the media mod mats actually were in development at the same time so it's a resource limitation Ben Grogan $5 I think the best Annunciation here here you go here it is would be 109 20 etcetera it feels like it flows better let's try this was it 109 21:09 80 109 80 XE 10 9 8 e XC e I agree with you that that actually just flowed quite well one mine ad XE and by flow quite well and within the parameters Intel has given us by assigning a five digit alphanumeric well seven seven character alphanumeric nine character alphanumeric today it's the CPS yes actually thank you for buddies of thought into that I will probably steal that okay I want to start winding these down because we've covered all the news there's the cover at this mine is just gonna be asked questions which they have some fun news items and questions in them to cosmic three or five dollars any chance Andy will lower prices or will the shortage keep that from happening I don't see Andy lowering prices right now intolerant prices I don't think anything's gonna feel pressured to lower prices on what it has out today until it has trouble selling them and right now they can't even meet demand because of supply so I don't see that happening what might happen is something we'll never know likely anyway has this affected the thread ripper 3000 series pricing that's what we won't really ever know the answer to because it hasn't been announced yet but I would think the answer to that is likely yes it will probably affect threader for 3,000 but we won't know the extent of it alexei amalfi $5 hey gamer taxes you guys really awesome at provide a deep doctrine cold data-driven analysis and reviews thanks well thank you for watching it for the nice words I really appreciate it and hopefully this has provided something of use as well even though it's not a short condensed news video c-money $5 can Intel just start over with their naming wish me luck in your tornado area tonight hopefully it blows Intel's at namings it always it blows all always Intel's that naming scheme yeah well first of all yes absolutely good luck near the tornado I was not aware of that but I was also in transit all day so I didn't have access to Internet for the most part but good luck to you I'm glad you're able to watch the stream that implies to me that hopefully it's safe where you are oh and let's let's hope it stays that way sure didn't I'll start over on the names my answer is yes it's pretty simple to answer and they'll should start over on the names there's a reason why company is stopped with the digits once they get past four of them uh-huh it's a serial number see Gabriel will see you in two dollars for the time you wasted Intel well thank you that will pay for 1/4 of my water bottle Oh Henrietta Jacobs in Norwegian 50 thank you when do you think we will actually have a real-world use of PCIe for like we have the PCIe Ford drives which most likely be fully utilized I think there are uses there but I am NOT one of the users in that scenario so I'm going to narrow this down to non storage when will we have a real use of PCIe gen 4 in non storage something I can answer a bit better it's gonna be a little while because the Titan r-tx card has a great example when we tested that by 16 verses by 8 it only starts to matter when you're doing multiple of them like 2 and then it really matters if you're do it there's a few ways I could address this actually let's talk about bandwidth first it really matters if you're doing multiple cards in a multi GPU configuration you're using explicit multi-gpu which exists in one game that I can think of off the top of my head ashes of a singularity so in that instance you get rid of the envy link bridge and you're feeding only through the PCIe boss it does matter it's pretty immediate actually when you have an envy Link bridge it's not that important and when you have one card it's really not important like it was less than 1% difference basically error when we tested it with the single card so that said I suppose there's an argument to be made that with PCIe gen for assuming the CPUs and the chips that's allow the assignment of lanes this way going forward PCIe gen 4 you can use you can assign half the lanes to get the same thing as PCIe gen3 with you know double the lanes of that same count so that's potentially useful in that you can expand to more devices provided you have enough lanes to do it and provided the Lane allocation scheme for that product the processor and chipset will allow splitting them and putting more components on the board I think that's kind of the argument like for me run half as many lanes as you need for the same storage device and then have more of them or something but then you do run into real estate issues to Frank Bennett $2 thank you know my sub tech deals $10 you had a crazy day thanks for trying to pronounce these crazy product names 100% with you they're impossible to say I 9 1 0 9 8 0 XE Intel if you're watching that was genuine right there where I paused every time I've done that that's genuine that's not me exaggerating it 1 0 9 8 0 XE does look like it is competitive versus the 2950 X but thread over 3 student I agree with you I'm really curious to see how that plays out the 18 core is promising I want to throw this chart back up for those who haven't seen it yet while I talk through the next few super chats and we're going to start winding this down I wanted this to be a short video went much longer than I thought but a lot of really good questions in chat the stream still going ok he yes it appears like it's still running ok cool we don't have Andrew here as the cameraman today he wasn't scheduled because I didn't know this was going to happen ok so Rob $5 these don't seem to be a replacement for the standard 9900 k if gaming is sole concern should I wait you give this off the screen for a minute should I wait it's still running an i7 3770k at 4.4 and r-tx 180 i mean that 3770 alone tells you that you can run two CPU a long time if you buy a high-end one and like high-end desktop standards and not need to replace so - these don't seem to be replacement for the standard 900 they are not a replacement for that the x-series parts are not really as gaming focused in fact you do get some performance decay and a good amount of games as you increase the core count - and beyond 18 especially beyond 18 some applications like some games do scale positively at 10 cores some scale possibly like 1 or 2 I can think of at 18 cores but it's so exceptionally rare I wouldn't build your gaming machine around that unless you're also an enthusiast overclocker in which case go for it it's a lot of fun but Ager billion production machine totally different story game machine I think the thing to look at will be at $600 for a 10 core part will the detriment in rain versus mash be outweighed by the thread deficit on the 9900 Kay I think that's kind of the question for those two and for that though and also you've got a frequency question there where this max boost is 4.7 versus well whatever the night I heard KS is gonna be I guess five is that all it is just five for everything so yeah that's that's and then all core is also a consideration we'll have to look at how that have a frequencies behave in gain but ya know you're correct should I wait if gaming is the sole concern maybe yes actually yes I want to give you a firm answer or not yes you should wait you should wait until if you can if you don't need a system today if you don't need a system today you should wait until probably in the next month or so we'll see Intel and AMD both moving to launch these products so it's likely that in the very least the retailers might start seeing the writing on the wall of we need to dump some of this inventory historically Intel prices don't come down as inventory ages but there's sometimes a window in there where they do and also this is quite a different scenario now than we've had in the past I would say give it about a month and see what happens with the pricing and if AMD our intelligence for JW thank you soon yeah fat guy here looking for for exercising get a Cu JW Dickenson we do have 4x in stock for quite a few of the shirts I'd have to go check them manually to tell you which ones but I do stock 4x pretty regularly deep fried like eyelashes find that in a State Fair $10 xx 9 8 0 X VX acts like it's 2010 xbox live also will you consider buying the companion case to the estin rx 580 I'm not gonna answer that question right now but the first one one of those is under embargo and the other one is Intel the XX 9 8 0 XE X X I agree with you it is a hundred percent like X X destroyer underscore your mom xx on Xbox Live 2010 or before that even vic viper 505 dollars here's a few box offset the stressful day hey thanks for showing out some more snow flake in b-roll absolutely definitely she needs to be in that are 580 guests and card to address the previous one Dixon software solutions $10 Ice Cube on white board that's an old name I like that people still know it I'm going to start let's let's cut the super chats off here I think well I don't know it depends on yeah there's quite a few to get through so I should probably cut them let's see how are we going on time okay I'll keep going for now okay so Andrew Todd $20 thank you very much for that really appreciate it well good time for me it's for my 7900 axe to bite the dust do we know if they are going to be soldered officially we don't know until made a big deal about stem as they called it on the 9000 series in general all of them so I would hope and assume they are continuing with that because it does why would you put that much marketing effort into it otherwise David powers $2 oil ginger oh I got yours yes glad it got to you thank you for letting us know Cory Swan $1 $1 again m3d lp4 CK $5 vulnerabilities fixed question mark or will those chips die soon anyway it's actually a good question I didn't get a chance to talk about that because I had 45 minutes after flying to New York to ask questions and I didn't want to like waste time on things that weren't related to the product that I wasn't sure the people there could answer so there have been a lot of in silicon mitigations Intel's been working on the 9000 series did include some of those for desktop I I'm gonna go with them I assume so but I didn't get to ask the specifics of the mitigations so that's a great question I will follow up on that HBO Matt $5 so threader for using 4.0 will effectively have four times or more of the PCI bandwidth for the new lower end socket how many memory channels on this Intel that is a quad channel these are all quad channel the previous ones were all quad channel until has been quad channel a long time threader per from what we know from the leaks the documents and the documents were provided the SW rx-8 will be eight channel that s was it CRX for whatever it's called will be 4-channel to our knowledge yo Kim Romano $10 do you know if the 1 0 109 ATX e there we go it has a solder digest oh I just got that question answer that second go Garrett bartholomew $4.99 do you know yet if intel's rated TDP is based off the base clock thanks for awesome content intel's TDP is a funny number but so the TDP does not in fact include the peak turbo boost for the limited PL one PL two durations of what are they they're like 120 seconds or a hundred seconds for the longer one and I want to say it's like 20 or 30 I thought my head for the other one that TDP number actually is not on that board 165 watt for the the top one I'll put that on the screen that TDP number does not factor in the maximum boost for the limited duration and it's the same and the does similar screwy stuff their TDP numbers so I just I would just look at power radians from reviews to get a real number okay let's see John Adams my Intel my night I heard K build is six months old what would be the benefits of upgrading to one of these new chips and gaming and benchmarks well ninety nine hundred K there is none there's no benefit the only benefit for you is if you're doing production level tasks Adobe Premiere scales well blender if you run around the CPUs scales well but am these got a pretty strong argument there I don't know so something like premier definitely Photoshop doesn't really scale with cores that scales more with frequency but something like primary you'll get scaling all the way up the stack all the way to the top to the 31 75 X that's the benefit if you don't care about that and don't bother Porsche racer $30 thank you with rumors of AMD chips being in the surface launch tomorrow when people see a MDS premium or this is a great question to you or is that more up to partners and what they build in the mobile space that is a very good question let's take this and one at a time here well people see anthias premium I think the surface I don't really follow service but I followed enough to know what's going on tomorrow I think the surface if if it does end up I've seen the same rumors if it ends up with Andy parts that is going to helping these perception to a wider audience Andy doesn't have any issues with the enthusiasts audience right now everybody watching has seen nothing but Andy for three months they don't have an issue here Andy has a the biggest problem by its own admission to us in meetings with system integrators with OEMs people like Dell HP cyber power companies like that and then laptop makers as well that's where Andy needs to gain ground Andy knows this we talked to them about it at CES actually in January and enthusiast wise if you look at we've published it we published a look at the affiliate numbers on Amazon for our viewers for the AMD versus Intel CPUs and it was insane like if you go back a couple years Intel 80 percent of volume and the 20 percent Andy fell to like almost zero for a brief period if you look back far enough in our affiliate data when it was just FX and now it's flipped where for well the most recent month I looked at for sales data and V was eighty percent of the sales volume we tracked through Amazon affiliate links from people like you watching our videos 80 percent AMD doesn't have market share lead still so that's not 80 percent of the market that's 80 percent of that month sales that we tracked for the enthusiast gaming audience probably gaming may mix of production that was their volume that's completely obscene for Andy's size relative to Intel's and considering just a couple years ago Intel was that one at 80 percent for this market segment Intel still the market leader in terms of market share for server there 95 percent that's gonna fall to 90 percent by 2020 probably market leader for laptop they have the most CPUs in play for desktop so we don't want to downplay Intel here because they're still massive it's a very technologically advanced company they're not unconfident they employ good people but Intel's very slow-moving beast at this point they were caught off guard with 14 anime shortages and with Rison coming out and with mitigation issues all at once and so then is Andy seen as a premium brand that is what they need to work on now and I think with inclusion in something like the surface if that is what's going to happen then my answer is yes the surface is billed as a premium product it kind of be like being included in a MacBook or something that's billed as a premium product so yeah that's that's my answer for that they do need more partners to support them they're off and then that's been happening Pat the logo guy five guys off topic but looking at a MIT export for 3900 xne think you cracked my under test got an age 400 but didn't realize M ATX was dead yeah sadly it is very dead I only know of that as rock one we saw at Computex and if you remember that coverage I didn't even notice it on the wall if we had the post like an update saying that there was a board there because viewers saw like behind me in the shop but I didn't even see it because it was down like towards the bottom they didn't talk about it at all didn't seem to care about at all so that's the only one I actually have paid attention to I don't know if it's any good sorry hurry 99 MX 2005 3600 rr7 2700 X if I can buy each for $200 if you need the extra threads I like the 2700 X a lot at that price it's extremely good at what it does to our dollars is so good for that part at 3:00 when I was in 3 he's like 300 330 it was a bit it was a bit more wishy-washy but at 200 if you do anything that's thread intensive like blenders stuff like that I do like the 2700 X in those applications and then you get a bit of a frequency bump with a 3600 that will be beneficial to you in some of the gaming applications I'd have to look at our benchmark so I don't have the numbers memorized where the deltas were see okay I'm going to cap the Super chats here and start winding this down so let me just update this text okay so let's see no more super chats the stream okay so don't send anymore I won't read them starting that we'll call it 8:40 p.m. Eastern which is three minutes from now okay and you can also use the code Steve wants to die on store documents access dotnet if you'd like to support us and the 14 hours of travel I did today to get two slides that I can publish to you that could have been emailed to me because I was hoping like that for whatever it was worth meeting the people like I said but the rest of it okay let's do the rest of them there did Paul say something Paul said go to bed Steve we're starting to awesome hardware I'm working on it Paul I just I'm closing out of nowhere super chat so we're working towards that that angle okay so yes the CP is we hadn't seen them yeah put up on the screen again I've talked about him a lot at this point I'm gonna go through some of the super chat and I'll take the back off the screen and we had a question from c-money can you just ask him to all start over with his name it got that one earlier yes we basically did I did have to kind of explain my positioning to Intel and say like this is a bad name please believe me I hope I hope it clicks after this video after I told them you're gonna get ridiculed I think what I said was it doesn't affect the performance so the name is inconsequential to how we review that from a performance standpoint it doesn't matter but you're gonna get made fun of for that name and also it will be genuinely confusing for not only consumers but some of the enthusiasts remember all that stuff Indian boy or four or high P Steve anytime soon no current plans with I don't know maybe four end of your video or something like Aladdin play well file ours the number is Mason what do they mean I have no idea what they mean readeth great happen to dodge just call it the 10x II not a bad idea actually Cornell Robert Stanley I really like you being so candid in the stream good on you hope the rest of your week goes better yes I think it will go pretty well I did want to go out side and also eat food when I landed home but I didn't get to do that but that's okay I'll get to do that after this I should start cutting now but anyway maybe tomorrow yes Canada was the goal for this I'm just doing the news live and yeah give you a real first impressions of it because that's kind of all I was really allowed to do with the information they provided Ronald $5 are these still 14 hundred plus plus plus plus plus I don't know how many pluses they're out at this point this is another naming problem but yes they are 40 nanometer they are cascade Lake it is technically a different architecture it's still the same process and it feels kind of like a refresh in a lot of ways but we'll see talk about that more later Bob Flanders $2 local event I Drive down from Nova Oh was that northern in North Virginia maybe I considered doing like a meet-up locally or something we haven't nailed anything down haven't really even talked about it but it's possible in the future just keep your eyes out on it Kevin 2 8 1 1 5 name should be like a 9/10 break 940 X hmm I 9 I think one of the suggested alternatives the naming today when I was complaining about it from into always well you could just call it the new generation Intel Core X processors and although I believe I was polite and said something like yes yes I could do that the reality is that's a terrible alternative ok next one trail features 5 lies new CPU already good thing I spent all my money on bikes cameras and this super chat yes that those things will save you from spending the money on the CP is of course and thank you trail features big shout out the trail features for the GoPro guide on configuring the audio correctly I didn't know they hid the mic settings under protune that's stupid and not user friendly but that's a GoPro ish you're not an in healthy and so I move on say ominous Aaron Dean for planes flight simulators such as DCs world and X plane with more cores help or more o'clock I'm actually not sure I've never been marked them but I will tell you how you can find out the best way to find out obviously is benchmarks if they exist for those games it's gonna be game by game basis but I can almost certainly assure you that going up to this core counts point not a hard K you'll probably still get scaling there you might at the ten core frequency versus core is all you need to do is look at benchmarks and see how the ninety nine hundred K Falls versus a ninety seven hundred K especially if you can find a reviewer who's clocked in both to five gigahertz because that'll answer your question immediately if you can't find that I guess you kind of simulate it you could change the clock a bit on your CPU you could change the thread enablement a bit and and kind of simulate the answer it's not the best way to do it but if no one's got an answer online that would be my approach see see some money at for a travel pillow I probably should buy one of those although I do I do put a GN two-tone t-shirt which you can get for there actually it's the hoodie I use zipper hoodie which you can get for ten percent off with code Steve wants to die I'm starting I Karen sexist on that I put that on the tray table so I don't get sick when I sleep on them okay so next one Samsonite dove it's ten nine eighty ten 2.718 no no no no no that's a bad name to don't give them ideas tell Harkness I should have named this video how not to pronounce a product actually is what I should have called it and still so much some chats normal chats coming in tonight early two-thousands beige full ATX case with today's motherboards as long as I use some Jeff of course you can there's no reason you can't do that okay I'd like to see benchmarks of the new flight simulator when it comes out I can look into that I'm actually not let me take a note wait simulator is it a new is that the name of it just new flight simulator game I can look into that alright so super jets were winding down on these Terrell Harkness said Steve just bought a GN toolkit thanks for your time sacrifice for us well thank you for buying the toolkit the toolkit along with the mod map I've been really excited about just because they're products I use every day here so I really like that the mod mats genuinely the favorite like my favorite thing out of all the content and stuff we've ever made that we've done because they're on every surface I work on and I really enjoyed working with them the tool kit same thing so I'm just happy that people like it thank you for picking one up shrouded wolf $5 me they want to say hi being excited to see you live your content is also nice tree coverage thanks for watching and thanks for saying hi Boris Javik hi from Australia question why has Andy dropped raid 5 that is a good question let me take a note of that as well and the raid 5 support I will send that to them after the stream see if I get an answer if I do I'll include it in last yen and if not then sorry sometimes they don't answer Kosmic true well Andy cut their cost or will shortages prevent oh I got that question that was really good one command so I got that earlier five dollars command so thanks for the stream we know you're tired very much appreciated well thanks for joining Sam always good to see you in chat Sam loaned us the Titan X years and years ago we were unable to get it from Nvidia and he was very kind and loaned us wanted to test David Emma Heiser $50 I got yours as well thank you again for that big donation where'd it go now I see got $200 one in here damn I'll get to that in a moment it's not too far off the screen Rick Linville $10 would upgrading from 87 arcade to the 10 core be worth it just speculating Cheers okay just speculating worth it for what I guess my okay my my version of worth it I guess I don't know yours so I'm gonna go with mine I'm leaning towards no for gaming I don't really think so I think that's kind of hard to justify for production applications if you're again if you're making money with the computer then probably because then you can get stuff done faster if you're bottlenecked by the cpu performance getting stuff that like in terms of bottlenecked not your computer but your workflow then yes it would be worth it but we need to see how AMD does at the same price point 2 or at the with the 16 core and if that affects 3900 X Billy a 5 6 4 2 $1 thank you know my said jorge moreno some time ago you talked about doing case pan reviews and comparisons the video with the 200 million fans what if that's ever going to happen yeah it's one of those things where it keeps getting pushed back we are constantly flooded with stuff I think about it basically every day though which is more than I could say for the first time we talked about it so it's it's up here all the time now I just need to actually start implementing it but that is that is doable more than it was before let's start up five dollars you're supposed to say 3,700 a this is that message earlier you're supposed to say and I'm almost at $200 one especially 3700 xx4 70 carbon motherboard and alright 580 GPU for my first build what do you think about that combination okay oh that's the message I can understand 3700 xx 470 that's fine I'm good with that you don't need X 570 at all so yeah no problem there are X 580 GPU for my first build the arms 580 is a really good price I'll give you that I do like the 5700 series quite a bit and video is good too but they bit pricier there I think some 5700 series if you can't justify the cost the RX 580 for our first GPU if you're playing 1440p 1080p no problems that'll last you a couple years you'll be good and they're like 160 hundred $80 now it's a great price I get the a Cabaye version though doctor who ate six of my 309 what's more confusing the latest Intel processor named for the latest USB standard names Intel Intel for mmm now I take it back USB because I actually still don't have this fully memorized and this I can at least like remember what the previous generation wasn't figured out so I got to go with USP name and I take it back gen 2.1 or whatever it's called san macarthur we're winding down here the last couple lasts maybe 15 or so super chats Sam McArthur $5 any comments regarding thermals none I haven't tested them I have no idea where those perform thermally they should probably be pretty similar to the 9900 sorry that's confusing to to the previous X 9000 series processors they should be similar because the specs are not that different the frequencies have gone up so that'll affect the boosting temper the temperature when it's boosting but I think the core is really what drives most that heat so you should see pretty similar temperatures I'm not sure I genuinely don't know how soon until Intel I nine r2d2 xee I believe Nvidia made the most recent Star Wars branded products so we'll see if in doll can can fight that license away from Han Vidya does Ori $200 damn thank you that pays for half my my plane ticket actually but I did pay for it until doesn't pay for those we they offer but we pay for own tickets for everything Thank You Zuri you didn't say much but you said towards your ticket dad yeah fortunately I can say thanks to the interaction we got here today one much more fun way to cover the news and much more fun way to go about the way the embargo is handled and - yes this this has probably this has we should be definitely past the flight cost of the sign now it's the time cost but yeah I'd say we're covered so thank you very much I appreciate that Chris Swift $5 I'm still exhausted finally we have competition on the CBS space now waiting for Intel done for the GB market me too I'm really curious to see what it entailed I was there I think a lot can be done on the GP market and video needs pressure put on it so I'm excited to see that these I do agree as well for as much as I've made from the names the 18 core at $1000 the 10 core at $600 is very competitive versus intel's previous generation see how it does versus a of the intestine but that is actually genuinely exciting from a competitive standpoint I agree with you the Bowen next gen will be the 10 9 8 0 X e to the 2nd power no no don't do that Mark Preston $25 thank you charging my new ebike battery what's the LCD recommend to keep 1000 watts cool charging yeah evike batteries are kind of rough I put a try to heatsink test on actually you should check our side channel GN Steve I'm gonna put a heatsink test there unfortunately didn't really help with a hub motor but a CLC for 1000 watts think you're gonna have to upgrade like it open-loop basically for that that's what I did see they're worried bike mods online like for cool bikes and other ones where people are doing computer part open-loop cooling on the controllers and other components Peter Crone right from New Zealand thank you thanks for all the great information thanks for watching Bruno Alex when can we expect to LTTE underwear review with out-of-the-box thermals and cooling performance now you can't Big Al - 68 ends how is going to use a ninety nine eight exe super but NVIDIA beat them through it that might be true xavier medina five guys partnered with the GPU manufacturer to bring us and GN snowflake custom edition GPU the world needs this I agree with you and probably the first choice for us would be yes ten because they've proven they can do it already haha broom in New Zealand in before lock not sure that means sir oh the thread block I guess jmr 1969 ex when will that could be an Intel CPU name when will you see or a fan data 120-140 your data on actual static pressure just got that one earlier no date it's it's in my head every day though VC gesture since he'll has officially frozen over are you God are you going to cornrow that mane of hair for us no no no we need to you once Intel fixes the names we'll talk eerr 4:04 Oz tech hi thanks for the content 1090 DX e where's 3950 excess garbage I do disagree so we haven't tested that yet and we haven't tested the 3950 X so we can't state that realistically secondly that 18 core does have a lot of value in more than just cores so you know I've given Intel good knocking this stream but I've also tried to praise where they've done well and the 18 core part the 99th exc the 79 80 XE were objectively good parts the pricing as threader per kind of evolved became poor value just outright say that that pricing though 50 percent lower than where Intel was I don't agree with you that that's garbage I strongly disagree with that statement I think that 18 core part has a lot of promise in it at the price compared to where Intel was how's the Red River matches up to that will be a completely different story we'll have to see antacid Ben Grogan the esting card are you sure it's a cat not a small dog yes realize that as well so they say the reason I asked is Japanese dog work a lot Appiah is Juan Juan is trying to similar according to the comments it is actually so I should have asked our Chinese teacher actually about that so it may be a small talk I don't know but they also talk about the Miao Miao cooling solution on it so I think they're kind of playing up both angles I can't you know they want to get both the dog people have a cat people buying it shame it's where they put it intensely ambiguous shame it's all where I've got um let's see we have one two three four five six seven eight left or nine maybe sorry to railroad the topic but I want to know if 3900 X would get boost in performance or from a phase change cooler get a boost in performance the 3900 X will get a boost in performance running stock from any cooling solution that's good all the way down to minus eighty degrees in our testing Tom's I saw they did something like minus one I've been full pot might have minus 180 maybe so dancers yeah it's better cooler better performance from that series maria eugenia pintado a rs.100 thanks for the stream go out eat something get some rest yes I agree any water as well Rob $5 any predictions on when we can expect ice lake desktop CPUs no I had no predictions at all I have no idea sorry peace PRS Captain Planet NT 300 thank you is that I don't know if YouTube previous new Taiwan dollar to NT Joe's tots okay yeah yeah you're the guy who gave just came to us the crap over the tater tots I will pass along the message that you are still going on about this there and I'm sure he'll appreciate it Ian Thompson around the last few bent pins on my 3900 X today ouch tried to fix but now my PC power cycles when I do Cinebench am I screwed can you recommend a repair service if they're not so you get like one shot with PG a with Andy saw because you CPU got one shot at fixing them after you bend it twice little snap so two things you can do first be really cute know anything about repair shops in your area but I hesitate to trust the average repair shop I think you could probably do better yourself with some patience and good tools so tools for the job a fish is really good for this a razorblade like the thinnest razor blade you can find just a box cutter a razor blade you can use that to kind of slot in between the pins don't scratch the substrate but it slotted between the pins and just wiggle it back and forth and try to slowly wiggle that you push the pin straight again without actually pulling on it with tweezers cuz you're a lot more likely to snap it so razor blades really good at that and then you can use a really fine pair of tweezers not like the kind of Virgie is is but like actual tweezers um and you know a magnifying glass ideally you got a helping hand or something and just be really patient with it so yeah try to unbend the pins if you've actually broken one off one of the things I've done in the past that worked was I took the pen I put it in the socket you know you figure out where it is in the grid and put it in the correct hole on the socket and you put the CPU in and as long as it makes contact with the pad it'll still work as if the pin never really broke off so that's another option for you - not the best because you're basically relegating that motherboard - only that CPU but they would work they work just fine so now I don't think you're screwed but you have to be patient with it our last couple are our 4 3 or 4 Oz tech how is a 10-9 ATX EE competitive at that price 39 50 X sane sane 39 50 X doesn't change anything just saying it or whatever doesn't change it's not that studies specially competitive at the 39 50 X the antique route does the same thing where Andy crowd will say but processor X has Y more cores well processor X has Y more cores in the scenario you can't have it both ways the 1098 exe I don't know if it will be good value I haven't tested it but this is the same person you call the garbage earlier and I think that's unfair because it should be objectively a good processor in the objective sense and the value sense will see but it's not that far off it's a lot different from the two thousand dollar ones and you you can't take an AMD 3950 X I know this for a fact even without having one you're not going to take one of those and set like extreme overclocking times buy records with it you'll do that with the processors on this board so there's still places for it even if you think that's a small market that does extrapolate fan 24-d RR coor IX 10987 ti no no no the one two three four five last ones the shadow wizard two dollars a shortened name and call them ten ten twenty ten forty 1080 that's probably good idea especially cuz the tenth series of gps is dead robbie a rise in nine thirty nine hundred and twenty 70s or seven thirty seven hundred x and twenty 70s for a single PCB are 3d sculpting oil streaming setup x5 so many mega amo motherboard i think your front in the motherboard I have not done VR testing since the 1000 series rise in parts but I do remember that they didn't really have any issues with it like the 1700 I think did fine it was more GPU bound than anything I'm not sure how VR sculpting behaves I know that streaming is core intensive I don't think VR is that core intensive as much as it is GPU still because you're dealing with such resolution so my practical side says 3700 X should be sufficient my let's play it safe side says 3900 X because the the streaming will benefit from the cores so I don't know that's my wishy-washy answer for you because I haven't tested it and in the last few storm no question thanks for what you do thank you storm I appreciate that halo boy 4 5 6 editor has 16 layin 4790k expanding to 6k 10900 2x I'll do my best to interpret to this the 10 core part should be pretty it's tough like that's a scenario where if you're using premier the 3900 X was finally beating out the 9900 K and some of our tests and that wasn't something we expected so in that scenario I don't know man the 3900 X might be the choice if you're using premier it really might be I have to test it but I also don't work with more than four K for our benchmark so last one David h2k new PC for video rendering as a self-employed videographer dedicated GPU yes no and what is the question 37 100 versus 39 50 benefit of multi-core for video rendering so there's a benefit I would recommend that you check out our whatever our most recent CPU probably 3800 X maybe the review not for the 3800 X but just for purposes of getting the updated charts look at our premier benchmarks and it does in fact scale so the 3900 X sees scaling over 3600 over 3700 the 9900 just I'm mixing up all the names and numbers then I heard K she's scaling over 9700 K 9600 K so there is scaling in at least Dobie from here I would assume it extrapolates to resolve I am Not sure but resolves pretty good with with resource allocation so my guess is yes but maybe I'm sure some people have tested it maybe tech gauge that constable I tested it so yeah I don't think you need to go all the way to a 3950 you say self-employed videographer if you are trying to or are currently making a living off of editing videos it's a lot easier to argue for spending more money to finish stuff faster the question I would have for you this is how I would look at it in your situation I'd look at as do I have enough work coming in where I feel like I'm not getting stuff done fast enough because of the computer as opposed to other problems if you have a manpower issue you just can't get all of it done a CPU might solve parts of that but not the greater issue if you have a if you don't have constant work where every day you're kind of like you're trying to figure out how you can render this thing but also get the next clients work done if you if you don't have that problem I wouldn't stress too much about it but if you think you're gonna have that problem soon then the 3900 X would be a part I'm completely fine with recommending for premiere it does really well extremely competitive with the 900 K as well which we didn't expect but it was and the 3950 ax will probably jump over that but it is a $250 price jump and I haven't tested it yet so you'll have to check back for that answer okay that's it thank you for watching I think I've gotten all the super chats I wanted to get I'm gonna check the normal chat for a moment and I'll give it a quick shout again to dads thank you for that that donation is still at the top of the screen and then we had store orders I'm going to turn that code off I'm not gonna shout out their orders today but I'm going to turn that code off I guess I'll just end it like tomorrow or something so about midnight tonight which is in roughly three hours so if you want to get 10% off store document sexist net to help us out today you can go to that site and type in Steve wants to die in checkout for 10% off and Sam saying thank you for the stream thank you Sam for watching and helping moderate and let's see anything else in here I'm looking at normal chat thanks again for the info I'm one crazy cow good to see you thanks again for the info about any about the new anniversary shirt could not find the order I'm scrolling up so I told them no worries but I wanted to say thanks for all your help yeah no problem I think they probably sorted it out for you if they didn't I told you before I just let let the support guy know that I sent you and said to make sure you get your shirt I think it was an issue in the previous stream where you like your order had been accidentally cancelled or something we'll take care of it for you if you have if we haven't just email us but it sounds like it's been taken care of so thank you for updating me okay it's not much left in the stream I think we've hit all the questions here any news on the the liquid devil I don't know and I also don't have news on the XT power color cards they're supposed to send them to me but they haven't yet and so I haven't reviewed them yet and I I keep trying to buy them but they're not in stock so this is an issue of me waiting for free parts it's like I can't get it but yeah I'll do that as soon as I can okay thanks for watching a very very long version of a news video is supposed to be shorter but that works too and I think you can probably close it out here Patrick anything you want to add on the on the products Paul stream is up now okay yeah well there you go check him out at the end of this one okay thanks for watching guys I'll see you all later
