How I Style my Beard | Greg Berzinsky

hello this is Greg Brzezinski for beardbrand and today I'm going to show you how I go from this to this so this is my beard freshly washed and conditioned which I do every other day I've let it wet I haven't even towel dried it it's actually sopping wet you can see it actually tends to have a little more volume if I leave it dry like this it'll actually end up kind of Bozo the Clown esque which is not a look I'm going for so I want to add some control to it my beard is medium texture I have a medium amount of medium textured hair it's not super thick or nor are the hard hair is very coarse so I actually tend to like to add some product to my hair to actually make it slightly more dense so that the more coarse and so I'll use sea salt spray beer Branden obviously has the suits all spray that I use and what I'll do is add some while it's still wet without towel drying it after I shake it up well go add a little bit of that to my beard working it in just add a little bit of texture to to my beard so the first thing I want to do is actually a blow-dry my beard and one of the reasons I blow-dry it you can actually see that the chin of my beard is actually pretty straight and the sides of my beard tend to be kinky or curlier and so you'd want to take a little bit of the curl out on the side and on both sides and actually add a little wave to the front of my hair so with the aid of a round brush this is a half inch diameter brush for spa to the drugstore and what I'll do is I'll comb the sea salt spray through my hair Baird it's fairly long at this point you can see just in curl and combing it it actually takes out some of the curl itself so what I want to do with this brush and the aid of a hair dryer is actually kind of blow-dry some of the curl out of the sides of my what I'm going to do is work downward with the hairdryer on a hot setting and as I get down to the bottom what I want to do is use the brush to roll it under slightly in order to coax the hair down and under so here we go [Applause] so what I'm doing is always moving downward in the direction of the hair growth not every guy's hair also moves straight down this side of my head the hair grows straight down this side it actually grows up or off to the side so that's another reason why I want to push it down most hair dryers have a cool button setting so what I'll do is while it's hot I use the motion to get it in the direction applying a little curl to the underside of it to get it to turn under and while it's still basically in that hair pattern I'll hit it with the cold so you push in the button hit the cold button and then that actually sets the style that you're putting in there so let me show you that again [Music] [Music] so on the sides toward the back what I want to do is kind of roll it under so that they don't stick out I also don't want it to touch my ears so what I'll do is I'll take the brush and roll it toward the back and download so this is more about my beard wearing a mustache down today and not in a traditional handlebar that sometimes you see me with so for today I'm just gonna roll it slightly under and cooks the curls of my hand the wire into the beard so that's pretty much what I do with hair dryer and the brush at this point I use styling balm some guys use the styling balm before I actually use I use the water in my hair plus the sea salt spray as the moisture in it to get it to go into shape and then I take styling balm and work that into my hair and so probably I like a lot of product so I'm gonna take a fairly generous dollop some guys like a little some guys like a lot like I said I like to add a little bit of texture to my hair rub it into my hands until it gets a little warm and I put it on the outside of my hair where I'm going to deposit the most product and then rub it through and rubbing it in down to the base making sure that I get the edges of it where I spent some time rolling it under onto the back also and then into my mustache so what I'll do is I'll take a comb a little bit and I comb through the top of it but I'm not wanting to comb through the whole thing so since I've actually added volume to it already and put the product in it I tend to smooth out the top of the hair and then making sure it's symmetrical so not everyone's beards are symmetrical not on one's face is symmetrical and so you can play with it curl one side more than the other or straighten one side or the other to get it into a shape and I comb my stache a little bit very natural stache today and pull the tails like I said into my beard makes me probably about on a normal day no more than three minutes to do my beard I don't want spend much more time than that than that i refresh it in the morning I always watch my mustache I probably watched it a couple of times a day put a lot of product on my mustache because if I'm gonna rinse it out I want to get I don't want to rinse out all the product necessarily but food and that probably inevitably gets in my mustache whether that be from drinking drinks I tend to use a straw for soft drinks or for milk or for water yes it's true I use the straw but for coffee I don't got to be careful about getting liquids into my mustache we could talk about mustache grooming and another point I can show you how I do my handle bars and what products you can use on your mustache so
