How I am using the Makse Life Planner AND Power Sheets Goal Planner TOGETHER

hello welcome back to my channel thank you so much for joining me today today I'm going to do a couple things this isn't my Moxie Life vertical planner that I am planning to use this year and I have not well I started setting it up I really wanted to film this whole video and show it all to you back in December but that was the original plan but USPS had other plans and so I didn't get my hands on it until I got back into town mid January and so I had accepted that I was gonna set it up once I got back and I had originally planned to do all of it on camera but one of the things that I have found with myself is when I do things on camera I tend to rush more than when I do things just by myself which is not that often anymore and it's not that I don't like walking through it with y'all or talking through my thoughts because that definitely helps me as well but I also will sometimes find that I rush and then I don't enjoy the final product as much and I won't go back and look at it so for some of these pages I went ahead and did them off camera because I knew that I wanted to take the time to do my best and to really just not rush through it so as I walk through this I will flip through all the pages that I've already set up and tell you some of my thoughts on what I did and why I did what I did and then I still have some stuff to set up as well I need to adjust my January monthly because some of my plans have changed and I also need to set up the notes pages in the back so let's go ahead and get going because this video of a feeling is going to be pretty long if you want a flip through of the entire planner I have a video on that when they first came out my first initial flip through so I'm not going to flip through all the pages I'm just gonna flip through what I have happened to update so I have just put my name and my email on this first page I don't really feel the need to put my phone number this planners not planning to leave the house and then I read through all the intro pages and highlighted things that stood out to me so one of the big aspects of the Moxie life is she has this life compass and you answer all these questions which I'm not going to show you because some of those answers are personal but you give all these questions a score and then you give them an average my finance one is way further out than everything else so funny but it's very interesting to see like how kind of everything balances out now I wouldn't did the life compass assessment because I just wanted to see I wanted to see what happened I wanted to answer the questions but I am not using her categories and her sort of definitions of these categories as the underlying basis for using this planner because there are so many things I love about this planner but I could not give up my power sheets if you've been around I love my power sheets I love the way that it really makes me think about my goals and really makes me dig deep on what's important and so I had no intention of quitting my power sheets I knew I just wanted to find a way to use both and I did so what I did was I used my power sheets as if I would normally would and the results of my power sheets was 8 categories 8 categories that I'm gonna focus on throughout the entire year and set goals aren't on those categories there's eight categories here so what I did was I adjusted these eight categories to be the eight categories that came out of my life planner so I went ahead and did the assessment but my results that I got here are not really impacting my future goals I did it just to see just wanted to try it out if you don't necessarily want to do such an in-depth goal-setting process like the power sheets whether it's because of time or you're pretty confident with your goal-setting abilities or even vice-versa you're just dipping your toe into coal setting I think that the life compass assessment and the way that she structures goals the way that she structures the categories rather around the goals I think could work very well I just happened to also want to include my power sheets so I continued to fill it out I went ahead and filled out this intentions page I did not reference my power sheets at all for this page I just sort of wrote kind of what popped into my head and then she talks about setting goals and then here is the biggest change so again what I did was I took her eight categories and I just sort of tweaked them slightly for the most part they're kind of close like they kind of make sense there's one that really doesn't make sense at all but all I did was I took each section and I applied one of my power sheets goals and if you watch my power sheets video actually I'll just show you so here at my power sheets I went ahead and did one of these maps like for all of my goals and I liked it and I taped it into the first page of my power sheets but I know that I won't go back to references all the time and so what I did was I transferred all of the different ideas that I had for all the different categories into these sections in my Moxie life annual goal section I also have added more stuff since I made that original one that's definitely out of space so the first one is personal so I've replaced that with the wedding and the marriage goal and then what I really like is that on each one she asks why why are you doing this how is your life going to improve which I really I appreciate thinking back on on the why because really that's the most important piece of it and then fun and Recreation is my crafting and memory keeping this is the only one that doesn't really tie in so for work and learning I have my routines family relationships I really want to focus in on friendship health and wellness this is my physical health and then spiritual and personal growth is a mental health for financial I'm doing a plan with lakyn focus stuff and in physical environment that one's a one to one comparison to my apartment so again I wouldn't and added in more stuff than I had on that other mind map and I feel like I will also go back and add in stuff over the course of the year as well the next page is at the vision board which is really interesting because I originally had left this blank I left a blank of my power sheets because I never went back and looked at it so I figured there was no point in doing it again this year and I had every intention of leaving this blank and then I went to a planner conference over the weekend and we made vision boards on like 8 and 1/2 by 11 card stock and I really loved the stuff that we got to use to make them and so I was like maybe I'll find a way to just like laminate it and stick it into either my power sheets or into my moxy life I stuck it in my laptop case to get it home and whatever the glue stick that we'd used to stick them down or I hadn't put enough of the glue some of them a lot of them had sort of popped off and I was like well that's good so I popped the rest of them off and then I used a adhesive roller and stuck them down in here so this doesn't capture all of my goals obviously but I really love the pictures and the words and the quotes like I love the options that they had to make this so I'm glad I was able to transfer it into my Moxie life all right so then we get in to the monthly layout and this is one of the things that we need to update so I'm gonna actually flip to the monthly goals page first so here's the monthly goals page and I'm attacking this in a few ways so the first step actually to this page was take all the monthly from my power sheets and put them into my Moxie life that step is pretty easy I just come you know take the color-coding and put them into their categories also I did my best to make the colors match as closely as possible the biggest one that really didn't was the gray so it's also this kind of red color this darker red is the routines and then this lighter red is the apartment stuff so that's the only color that doesn't really match otherwise the color is pretty much match and then the the blue and the purple aren't quite super close like the blue is super light super dark and this is a light purple this is like a super dark pinky purple but it's it's close enough it works for me so the first thing I did was transfer all of the monthly tasks into their sections I also originally had started putting in the weekly tasks in here and I quickly realized that that was not a good idea so I really only did it for the wedding one and then I stopped doing it and then the other thing that I did was just put other two do's that I knew I wanted to do into the monthly section so things like I know I wanted to get a haircut this month and things like I wanted to make a gift card list I put in the finance category when really the finance category is playing with like in but this one makes sense in the finance category so I just sort of put random - dues the other thing that I'm trying to do is put little stars next to the - dues that I want to make sure I do every single month and not that I'm gonna forget to dye my hair because I'm gonna look in the mirror and I'm gonna see that it's time to dye my hair but I want to schedule it earlier in the month and actually plan it out in advance instead of just stumbling on the fact that it's like oh well I actually need to dye my hair this week I want to plan it out in advance so I'm putting the little stars where it'll carry over to the next month I think that will help me set up future months so that is how I got to these lists now what I want to do is transfer all of these monthly to dues into the monthly layout and if you watched my January setup I did this in my power sheets sort of messily and I had originally wanted to transfer it over to my moxie like them but I didn't have it in my hand so here is what I did in my power sheets and that's what we're gonna do it first so I'm gonna set this flip this back to the monthly stuff because we're gonna reference these and we want to flip it back I want to be able to see it but I also want you to be able to see it and then we're gonna update it here first because here is where I can be a little bit messy the other thing that I have done since setting all of this up that I think is gonna change sort of how I attack my monthly planning I set up and I deal weekly schedule you may have seen this on Instagram or a my plan with me from the other day but what I did was create a weekly schedule that if everything was perfect and there were no other plans this is how my week would look and then the blank space would just be relaxing and hanging out with Sam this is never going to be the case I respect that this is never going to be the situation something always comes up and I'm always gonna have to move things around I will admit just like I did my plan with me I am starting to do that in Google cow because it is so much easier to move things around so what I did is I put this ideal calendar into Google and then I put in the things that I have scheduled that are gonna take up these times that I've already allotted and then I moved the other things around and what came of it was a list of dates these are the dates for the rest of the month that I have time to work on my goals and how many hours on each of those days so what I need to do is make sure that the goals that I put on these pages match up with these hours following and then I also need to make sure I if if it's gonna take more than five minutes everything from these lists needs to get onto this monthly page some of these things that I put down I have captured in this so any filming and editing Weight Watchers wedding Wednesday etc weekly things I have captured in this so I don't need to account for it here really what I need to do is get the monthly things into these hours that's what we need to do the other big change is that my out of town has actually switched to the next week so it's originally gonna go out of town this weekend and now I'm gonna go in this weekend's if this goes away alright so the first thing I'm going to do is put these big numbers here now on the weekend days I really could probably do more than the time that I have there because you saw I have all that empty time I think that will somewhat depend on Sam schedule which he never has like super far in advance yeah so if he has plans whether it's work or or like a friend thing then I will get some extra time that I could do something else but I won't really know that in advance so I'm just gonna I'm gonna work with them what I know right now I'm already a little bit overwhelmed because I have too much on here already that I know some of it needs to move and some of it like it's just extra newest something like this is already today so I'm like not even concerned with today okay so the two things that aren't going to get done on there slotted days I need to get moved to future days are these two I also and this one is not going to get done and this one is not going to get done I don't know what this list is oh that is the the 12 month task lists can happen that can happen this week so I'm gonna leave that where it is so that got scheduled waiting money that's the this stuff is kind of in process and these are kind of just phone calls that we need to make so none of that stuff needs to happen so we've got the finished December daily right now I've got it on Saturday and that is gonna take these this is already scheduled but these two things are definitely going to take more than three hours so that is really ambitious and not going to happen this I actually already did so we can check that off actually we did this to you okay friendless Christmas thank yous and the other thank-yous and then birthdays and needs to happen like ASAP otherwise birthdays are all going to be late actually what I'm doing now is I'm just circling all the things that I had on here that's it I think that were actual goal things that need to get well in these need to get put somewhere the only things that are on the list that aren't currently on the calendar is dyeing my hair and getting a haircut everything else is either like a five-minute task or is already on the list so that's good that's helpful so everything circled is what needs to get into those hours all right you can do this like it all right I'm gonna do this in a different color because I there's too much going on and I need to be able to see okay so the first thing I'm going to do I have right one two three four five six days that are only an hour I'm gonna try and mark in the things that I think will only take an hour so I'm going to move organized recipes to here and then I'm gonna move the documentation to here actually I like this is gonna be dye hair and this is gonna be organized recipes because this is gonna be haircut okay okay so those I did that I did my dad okay and then this one can be friends because that's only gonna take an hour this one can be 20 20 ephemera because that's only gonna take an hour and then I don't know there's anything else that's only an hour so I might leave that hour as like a catch-all so let's do on this three hour day let's try to do the one little word class and some December daily because I just need to get to that sooner rather than later and then on Sunday I can finish December daily because it's not gonna get done in that amount of time I can do my 2019 analytics I don't know that that's all gonna happen on Sunday or if I'm going to be able to finish all that on Sunday but that's okay and then cross that off and then on Monday I will do the 2020 overview and the one little word project why do I feel like I just ended up with extra time because I feel like I could do that in nine hours which means I still have like two hours over here and three hours over here that I have nothing to fill in okay that's a good problem that is a good problem to have alright I'm just gonna leave that extra time there because let's be real I probably underestimated how long something with take so I'm going to act as if that like I have this extra time and then when something doesn't get finished in one of these earlier days because something else comes up because that's how life works then I will have that Saturday and Sunday to move it - wow that's freaking awesome okay let's go ahead and then set up this monthly calendar I kinda wish these were flipped I don't know I see the benefit in both this one's the same way where the monthly layout comes before so the first thing I'm going to do is just get some washi down I've been liking using this washi and my mark sila if I just think it looks it goes really well also I had a lot of questions that's why she is from design pandemonium I don't know that it's still available for sale so I apologize so I'm gonna mark off all the days that are just not part of this plan because they already happened that might seem a little redundant or silly but that's a I wanted to visually I just don't want to think about those days anymore so I'm just gonna mark all these these days off I think one of the things I'm really trying to do this year to help with my goals is planning them the month in advance no we're going to today's the 12th but that is because my travel schedule was crazy going into this but I think that going forward that process will work well I think it is a circular process where it's like okay you look at your schedule and you've got how much time and so then you've set up your goals and then it can't be very circular because then and then you try and go back and fit it into your schedule and it's just but then you find out you have more time so should I put more goals you know it's hard it's hard to estimate but I think also leaving a little bit of margin is helpful because life happens man like things are gonna come up and I may think that I have one hour on one of these days and then it turns out that I don't so then I've got to move that to a different day and so I think that's okay so I think having that extra space is actually is probably going to help a lot okay I've got all the washing mark to offer everything that's not part of this I've been using a papermate Flair in my Moxie as well because this paper is also gorgeous so I'm not gonna put in some of these things that I put in over here like Weight Watchers and filming it at anything because that's all captured in here I'm just gonna put the things that are you know taking up the extra the extra time okay so let's start with this side so I have work on December daily and my 20 and 18 analytics slash I didn't really write it down but it's also like look at all the the schedule of the videos that I put out and see how that can impact my 2020 plan and then here I'm gonna do the one little word project and my 2020 Anna that I also don't think is gonna take nine hours but this I also think might take more than three hours so I'm glad that I have to stay off and I can work on all those things okay and then this day I'm going to dye my hair and then this day I'm gonna work on the closet documentation I'm just gonna keep writing while I've got this side this day I'm gonna work on the friendslist I think I wrote down 20 20 on this illan but I really mean that 2019 ephemera organization great to flip here I'm just gonna go ahead and write the holiday party as well even though like it'll be on my weekly planner I might do a little bit of that Friday night to Sam just told me that he has a networking event on Friday night so I have that Friday night to myself as well and you get my haircut I should probably schedule that sooner rather than later okay um oh we also just got an invitation for a housewarming but that is an evening in the desert till 9:00 so it's like that you know this extra blank space of time okay that is the monthly layout I feel much much better about that so then the next step is the weekly action so these this is the week that I didn't use and this is last week as of the time I'm filming this video I haven't filmed this coming week they're cut they're going up in the backwards order of I'm filming them but I need to film it this way in order to get it up so this section is acting the same way that I talked about the monthly section so step 1 put all of my power sheets things down in their various categories so I've got you know my wedding Wednesday I've got my YouTube stuff and I've got my health related stuff and then same thing with the monthly what are the things that I want to do every single week no matter what and give those a little star and so that I can easily carry them over and then as things come up and things that I think about things that might take 3 seconds those I will put on here as well ok more than 30 seconds 6 3 seconds you should do it right away if it's going to take like 10 minutes or more it's probably getting put on this list then I'm going to transfer the things that ended up on the monthly layout for this week which is not much because of the holiday party taking up like my whole Thursday I had to bump up all the other stuff into the goals times earlier in the week but I will put the one little word class oh wait technically sunday is part of this this is why I wish planners were just like either be Monday starter Sunday start why do we got to be different ok and then we do the 2019 analytics also I'm gonna go ahead and put birthdays this doesn't take all that long and I didn't realize I didn't schedule it into a time slot we need to get that that needs to get on the move no that's doesn't get a starks it's not something that happens every week it's just something that happens every month ok that's good so now my weekly to-do list is ready to go so I can actually plan it in my plan with me alright the other part of this video that I wanted to do was set up my monthly notes pages in the back but but here's where I'm at I'm thinking the same thing I kind of want to do this off camera because I kind of want to make sure that I don't rush it so I think I will do this off camera actually I'm gonna what I'm gonna do is add it to my to-do list and then I'll flip through it as part of next week's plan with me and you can see that in the back let's not fall under really it doesn't really matter I'm gonna put it here okay I think that's it so it was a lot but the the biggest thing that I want you to take away from this is had a lot of questions about using the power sheets and the Moxie and I think that what's funny is I originally wanted to go into the power sheets prep date cultivate your year live knowing what all these categories were and I was gonna try and essentially force my goals that was my initial idea is I was gonna force my goals into these eight categories and I am very very thankful that I did not do that I did not part of it was like a forgetful thing it was not a conscious decision it was I forgot to bring my moxie or I forgot to her and I could have looked it up on the internet obviously but I forgot and I am very glad that that happened the way that it did because I'm glad that the categories that I have came out and I just did my best to fit them in and so all of my to dues these are now my power sheets categories and I do want them to fall into one of those categories now some of its gonna be a little bit flexible right like and you saw on the monthly layout for finance most of it is by plan with Lea and stuff because that's the category that I have created as the financial but the gift card list that isn't nothing to explain with Lea and that truly is just a financial thing so there's a balance between using it as my power sheets goal categories as well as just the actual categories that they happen to be so that's how I'm doing it that's how I'm planning to use both my moxie life and my power sheets so I hope that this was helpful for some of you that have been debating also I freaking love these bookmarks so I'm using this one on my this is says my vision I think she may have intended to put it here but I wanted it to be on my annual goals pages and then I took the monthly ones I took it out both I have two sets obviously so I took one out of my out of my power sheets the font is slightly different she must have changed it from the original version so I'm gonna put this one back here on the monthly goals and there's this one on this week but that is gonna be it I really I'm really excited about this planner y'all I think that I just and I love the paper I love being able to use a papermate Flair and it feels nice and it doesn't shadow and so this is just working really well for me so far I mean it's January 12th so I can't I can't say that it's like perfect forever because things are gonna change I think also like sort of I'm changing up my
