How Hell's Laws & Society Works? Helluva Boss & Hazbin Hotel Explained!

hell is confusing but thankfully i'm here to make it even more confusing my name is deepcut welcome back to cartoon universe and you don't have to hit the subscribe button but it's coming for you when we first saw vivziepop's vision of hell in has been hotel it was presented as a sort of planet with a red sky in the sky we could see celestial bodies including this dark pentagrammed ball as well as another planet that appears to be heaven while we only really saw a pentagram city in the pilot as well as in the attic music video that followed busy pop confirmed that hell was a much larger place with many cities in various locations including plenty of space for wildlife she even talked about a location where all the evil energy of hell would pool around and create monstrous flora and fauna which vivzy pop referred to as wonderland so she noted that this place may not ever be seen in the show at the time she discussed this we only really knew about has been hotel but after that we got hell of a boss which will be entering its second season soon and there have even been whispers about a third show possibly airing one day so i do hope that one of them will get to this location at some point it wasn't until hell of a boss came out with episode 2 that we learned that this red skied part of hell is actually just one of seven rings of hell the way the rings are described is as them being stacked on top of each other in some way with the pride ring at the very top and according to the official hell of a boss account all of the earthborn sinners who died and then went to hell are trapped there when a sinner arrives in hell they take on a demonic form one that is generally seen to be inspired by who they were in life what their sins were how they died and has even said that they are given traits that they hate about themselves for instance angel despite how attractive others find him and how highly he thinks of his own looks really hates his own feet it is said that if a demon were to go to heaven they would transform into an angelic form so it appears that the evil energy of hell and perhaps the more pure energy of heaven is what affects the appearance of earth-born souls when they go to the afterlife while some people hope for something of a purgatory to exist in the show fizzy pop has said in interviews that she is open to the idea but has no plans to include it or explore it though the interview is a bit old and like many things this may have changed the pride ring contains every sinner that has ever died on earth that didn't make it into heaven and as such has an overpopulation issue to counteract this lucifer apparently coordinates with heaven to facilitate the annual extermination where angels come down known as exorcists to kill earth-born sinners with special angelic weapons the earthborn sinners are otherwise immortal and these angelic weapons are the only way to kill them even with the annual extermination this is still an uncontrollable number of people existing in hell from all across different times and cultures on earth according to visipot people will often congregate around others who shared a similar lifestyle with entire towns and communities popping up to simulate what life was like when they were alive there's likely entire areas that are just cowboy western countries as well as more modern places like pentagram city which seem to keep up with the times regardless of who lives there in the alistar prequel comic we even see a city where everyone dresses like early 1900s america which makes it a place that alistair likes to visit often here anyone who does not conform to the style and culture of the time period is cannibalized by the other demons making an extra fun place for alistar who is also a known cannibal earthborn sinners are stuck in the pride ring but the natural-born demons of hell such as imps are able to exist in the pride ring as well as the other rings in the pride ring there is of course a city known as imp city which as the name suggests is primarily home to imps though we see plenty of other demons there too including sinners imp city was only established in 1981 making it something of a recent creation in hell's history imp city is home to blitz millie and moxie allowing them ample access to earthborn sinners who want revenge on people still alive up on earth but in many episodes they visit the other rings of hell where the sinners are not allowed each ring is modeled after one of the seven deadly sins and is ruled over by one of the seven princes to date we have only seen asmodeus up close and in person who is the ruler of the lust ring we also get some silhouettes of lucifer who is the ruler of the pride ring and also acts as king of all of hell we have yet to get a good look at the other princes but satan is mentioned off-handedly by many of the imps and we see depictions of maman both on money and as a doodle in his own signature on a contract that robofizz is holding to reach these other rings the imps and other natural-born demons use a giant elevator one that operates similarly to how a train station might though powerful demons like stolas seem to have the ability to teleport between the rings at will as while we don't know if stoles lives in the pride ring or the sloth ring yet as his sky appears pink at sometimes and red at others we know he doesn't live in lust which has a dark blue sky the pride ring is ruled over by lucifer as i said but is also the home to what we call overlords who are demons both earth-born and natural citizens of hell that have risen to power in some way some demons like alistair are only overlords on a technicality that being that they have a certain level of power but they don't use it with authority then there are demons like vox who owns the entire television industry and lords over people in that way we have plenty more to break down but really quick i just want to invite you all to cartoons i'll put the links to both in a pinned comment down below the overlords are generally seen as being of lesser importance than nobility like the ars goesha and of course the seven princes of hell who rule over the various rings but rule over the earthborn sinners and the lesser natural-born demons of hell which includes demons like succubus ichibis imps and hellhounds imps and hellhounds are at the very bottom of this pyramid and early on it was said that imps were the lowest of the low vivziepop has seemingly confirmed that hellhounds are just one step below them in a live stream which is something that seems true in the show hellhounds are generally referred to like property such as vortex who while technically being an employee to veracica refers to him like he is a pet or an object and in episode 5 millie introduces luna simply as her boss's hellhound something that the rest of the family doesn't seem to care to ask more questions about not even luna's name blitz adopted luna when she was 17 or so but not from a generic orphanage that helps all children but actually from a place that specifically allows you to adopt hellhounds well blitz loves a luna like a daughter and takes good care of her for instance it seems he gives her the only bedroom in their apartment and himself just sleeps on the couch it would seem to me that these hellhound adoption agencies are mostly used by people who wish to own a hellhound like a pet or a servant imps in particular are a diverse species and different imps from different rings seem to have different traits imps from the wrath ring are referred to as inbreds and seem to be known for their short stature whereas imps from other rings appear to be much taller as a general rule and imps from the lust rings seem to be on the sexier side and even have wings but as i said these are just generalizations and they seem to be exceptions in every ring one interesting thing that a lot of people might not have noticed is that in the pride ring there appears to be some sinners that are superhero themed according to the wiki which is very outdated with many of its sources now missing so should not be taken as 100 percent true vivziepop originally intended for planet earth and the has been hotel universe to be a place where superheroes with superpowers exist and that when they die they will manifest in hell with superhero aesthetics and presumably access to those super powers while the superhero characters are still seen in the background in the pilot it seems that vivziepop did away with this superhero idea as a whole but i personally hope that this isn't true because i would love to see how this plays out on earth maybe the imp gang can deal with superhero teams as their target one week most of what we know and have seen of hell within these two shows is inspired by the pop culture ideas of what a christian hell is a place of suffering for sinners but vivziepop has said that all sorts of religious and spiritual ideas will influence hal in her shows for instance we know that charlie's family is close with another family of demons known as the von eldrich family with charlie even dating the son of that family sapphiathen they are inspired by lovecrafty and lore and as vivsy said other religions and spiritual ideas will influence the show as well it would seem to me that hell and heaven will be the home of various mythological beings who all influence the real-life religions of earth within the show by coming up to the planet to do good or bad depending on which location they came from this makes sense considering that even within biblical lore a lot of demons were just gods worshiped by other cultures outside of early judaism and christianity that were later weaved into that abrahamic lore a lot of evidence of this comes from stolus who was seen summoning himself by possessing humans and making them perform a ritual using the real-life seal of stolos from the real-life lesser key of solomon a demonology reference guide that served as his inspiration for his character and likely other goatic demons that we will see within the shows there is a lot of confusion surrounding how death works within the show we know that sinners are immortal unless killed using an angelic weapon as we mentioned earlier but the lore surrounding natural born demons is a bit more vague imstar talked about as dying relatively easily with millie and sally mae being responsible for the funerals of many of their neighbors just for being too rough in the pain games of the annual harvest moon festival noble demons like charlie are referred to as long living but not immortal though it seems that demons like her and even princes like stolos are hard to kill because of their sheer power with an angel's weapon being assured fire way to get the job done as stryker seems to indicate an episode 5 of hell of a boss natural born demons like charlie are said to age much slower as part of their long living and she is supposed to be around 180 years old but we don't know how long the lesser demons like imps live as their lifespan doesn't appear to be much longer than humans on earth based on how milly's family only includes her immediate parents and siblings as opposed to a long line of older imp grandparents who would still be alive if they lived for centuries though we also don't know their reproduction rate so we don't have enough information to really say what is true one way or another some people are surprised to learn that there are police and firemen and other similar social services in hell within the show as hell is meant to be a place of perpetual suffering but the two can co-exist a lot of the suffering in hell comes from the natural way that it is which includes things like strange waves of allergies that all denizens of hell no matter how elite all seem to suffer through at the same time and likely includes other less simple horrors that they go through as well the police and firemen and such can all be helped to lower level demons but it would seem that a large amount of the systems in place exist not to help the common people like they do when a system is built for them but to actually serve the elites who rule over hell we even see an episode too through various signs and legal documents that a legal system exists where people can fight about copyright infringement with lucifer constantly in legal battles with the prince of greed vamon who is ripped off lucifer's theme park lulu world spelled with use to create a knockoff park lulu land spelled with two o's while these services can be used to help common imps such as firemen putting out fires like we see in one episode the system seems to be made mostly to serve the elites after all imps may live and work in these buildings but they are likely owned by the more powerful overlords and other ruling classes while police do exist they seem to stay out of the way when sherry and serpentis are fighting each other in turf wars and we don't see medical assistance for demons being crushed by flying debris from these battles the corruption is strong in hell and even the police are likely in the pockets of elite demons and vivzy pop says the laws in place mostly benefit the rich and powerful their laws differ quite a bit from our own with drugs of any kind being readily available on the streets places like rehab do exist but according to varaska it's the kind of place people only go to when they're washed up and no longer famous while non-famous demons likely use rehab as varazka was just making a pointed joke about blitz's sister no longer being famous with their comment the rehab systems are likely owned by the same people who produce and sell drugs allowing them to make money off their clientele at both ends and send them right back into the public to get addicted to drugs again after helping them in rehab outside of the common drugs we know on earth there also seems to be a strong addiction to bielsa juice which is seemingly named after beelzebub who according to the peter binsfield classification of demons is the prince of gluttony while it just seems to get demons drunk veraska threw some of it into the ocean on earth in episode 3 and we saw it create a giant monster out of a normal fish who seemed to swim through it this is likely an answer to how biblical demons about monsters roaming the earth were created quite possibly just as much by accident as was the case with this freaky fish dude in episode 7 moxie sings a song and in it mentions beelzebub with female pronouns indicating that beelzebub may not be a prince but a princess in hell of a boss the husband hotel pilot kitty killjoy mentions the nine circles of hell which led to a lot of confusion when we learned about the seven rings of hell the nine circles of hell seem to be a simple joke referencing the real life epic poem divine comedy the first portion of which called inferno talks about the nine circles of hell unlike the peter binsfield classifications which serves as the inspiration for the seven rings of hell in the show inferno was written with the intention of being fiction instead of a real-life resource guide and as such was likely meant to be a joke from katy kiljoy as her expression of disbelief at charlie's presentation later in hell of a boss however a sign welcoming people to imp city claims to be in the second circle of hell as far as we can tell the nine circles of hell will seemingly just be geographic locations within the pride ring arbitrary boundaries that seem to extend outward from the first circle of hell which is presumably the area surrounding pentagram city each circle of hell would just be a wider circular region surrounding the circles within it extending outward with different cities in each one such as the aforementioned imp city being in the second circle and who knows what will be in circle three and beyond as of now this is everything i could think of to explain have how hell and its society works with an has been hotel and hell of a boss but even with this video being longer than usual i'm sure
