when it came to clothing the jedi pretty much all wore bland loose-fitting tunics the jedi were meant to be fully focused on their study and worship of the force therefore they were strongly discouraged from focusing upon materialistic objects used for showcasing wealth such as clothing they also heavily frowned upon attachments and therefore seductive clothing was strongly discouraged instead almost total uniformity was expected of all jedi members however this was not the case for ayla sakura this twilight was often seen wearing revealing clothing with it often also being quite extravagant so why did ayla sakura do away with the jedi robes and choose to wear such tight fitting and revealing clothing to understand why we must take a minute to understand sakura's background although they were one of the most common species in the entire galaxy they were also some of the most diverse twilight skin color spanned a vast array of bright colors while they were usually thin and physically fit leading many to see them as exotic and beautiful unfortunately this resulted in twilight's being exported from their homeworld of ryloth into slavery the women were often forced to become dancers entertainers or other similar professions while the men were forced into the spice mining trade in legends slavery was the main currency on ryloth many made money by capturing orphaned children and selling them to slave traders impoverished twilights would often hand themselves over to slave traders in the hopes that slavery could provide them and their children with a better life some twilight higher-ups even saw slavery as a good thing they believed that slavery was an effective means of propagating their species across the galaxy what's more they also took pride in the fact that so many across the galaxy believed their women to be very beautiful the issue of slavery was made worse by the lack of resistance among the twilight population although some members of the species were effective warriors many believed in the mantra of riding the storm rather than defeating it this basically meant that twilight's generally believed there was no point taking a stand on most issues and that it was better off to just allow things to happen this lack of resistance only made them more effective slaves and more sought after while also making them even easier to capture as a result twilights were often looked down upon by other species viewing them as a lesser race who were no good for anything but work as entertainers or spice mining ayla sakura was from one of the more hostile parts of her home world and was originally hidden among the slaves of a local hub ruler if she had not been found by the jedi it is likely she would have become an entertainer or worse a slave in a spice mine fortunately she was saved by quinlan voss and she was inducted into the jedi order however she never forgot her past or her people although attachment was forbidden within the jedi ayla sakura struggled immensely with it as a young girl she formed a powerful forced bond with her master quinlan voss later on she would even form a brief relationship with kip fisto although she eventually broke this off to focus on being a jedi initially her troubled past manifested itself as a complete rejection of her twilike identity she wore the more traditional jedi robes to get away from the more revealing clothing there was stereotypically worn by twilights she bought into many of the negative stereotypes about her people and she soon became embarrassed of her own species however her master quinlan vos was unlike many of the other jedi he taught her to be proud of where she came from and embrace her twilike identity telling her not to be ashamed after contemplating his teachings ayla decided she wanted to break many of the stereotypes about her people and inspire young twilight's across the galaxy in the hopes that this would help many break free from their slavery she therefore decided to dress in the traditional clothing with a twilight the tight-fitting clothing often worn by entertainers she believed that by wearing this outfit she could show the galaxy that just because she looked like a twilight entertainer it didn't mean she was incapable in fact she was a highly skilled and capable jedi who later went on to become a jedi master she hoped that this would change people's perceptions of twilight's and help them realize that just because someone looked like a twilight entertainer it didn't mean they weren't successful she went on to become an inspiration for many twilight girls across the galaxy including a fellow twilight padawan named xian helping her to embrace her identity as a twilight while simultaneously committing herself to a life of service within the jedi her revealing outfit was also very useful during missions acting somewhat like a disguise her enemies would often assume that she was a simple twilight entertainer who posed no threat to them or their plans she could then seduce them into revealing important information or leading her into hard-to-reach areas by the time they had realized that this twilight entertainer was in fact a jedi it was almost certainly too late so there we have it the rather revealing outfit that has one of a large amount of support among fans actually helped her to be a more capable jedi
