Houston forecast: Sunshine finally returns!

right back to weather now kim uh most of this week is going to be really nice maybe go to rice university and i think it's anderson hall you got that frog sound if you touch the wall i was going to say a beauty anywhere you look around the city and especially when it's lit up by the sunshine and that's finally what we're starting to see again here's a shot at energy stadium check it out we are still at 60 degrees for today the high made it up to 61 degrees still a ways away from where we should be maxing out for this time of year just down about 10 degrees but a big improvement from where we were yesterday we only made it up to 43 degrees now this change does come with the wind it is a bit of a growing pain situation right now as we're transitioning from systems as high pressure is moving in that is ramping up winds right now right around 20 miles an hour 17 for college station 18 for houston 16 galveston palaces you've got a breeze at 17 miles an hour that's the dry air moving in and we are so happy to see it not only is it bringing back the sunshine but it is halting those rain chances we have just been overwhelmed with the mist and the drizzle the last couple of days and even some light showers yesterday afternoon so the dry air is indicative of high pressure settling up and what it's going to do first is like we saw clear out our skies once it moves towards the east it's going to start to pump in a little bit more moisture as the days progress and that's going to continue to aid in the warm-up so it's going to be a combination of the sunshine and a little bit of that southerly flow that's going to kick up temperatures very quickly but for now as the skies clear those temperatures tonight are going to fall into the 30s and very low 40s so just a heads up when you're headed out the door tomorrow you're still going to want that jacket but not by the afternoon when you're headed for the start of the rodeo the official start we're going to be in the mid 60s 66 dry no rain chance and just a very light breeze so winds are going to start to taper we really get to enjoy all of the effects of high pressure as the week begins and check it out we won't even begin to start to build on the moisture until we hit about the middle of the week then we'll start to feel a little bit more moisture but rain chances don't even come back into the forecast until saturday so it's a pretty carefree ride as we head through the work week seven day outlook shows us those temperatures are going to be full steam ahead upper 60s already by tuesday and then we get into the 70s low 70s for the first half of the work week then we get into the upper 70s now temperatures trending above average and rain chances something we don't have to worry about until we head into next weekend a lot of sunshine which we could use i mean so i was out earlier it was 55 degrees but it was in the sun it just felt amazing it probably felt like the 70s after these days we've been in the 30s it's already you know what we're grateful for what we have now and it's only gonna get better up from here all right kim thank you
