in the Retro style as in like it's playing tribute to a certain generation of internet or style a meta horror game kind of library but a very good one it is not the first Bonsai buddy little clicky uh mascot thing and spart horse game I've played but it is the most well done of them all and is the one that closely captures the spirit I think of that era of AET and stuff there's never really great game and it's not really a horror game it's more of just an adventure game although there is a couple little Marks here and there hypnos space Outlaw that really captured that era of AET and computer and PC stuff so this was kind of like that but more focus on the horror aspect one specific part of that era and it does the similar premise of all these um one of the earliest examples I remember of this is an old manga called resentiment I think it was called and the the general core of the meta horror game is usually there's a computer program it may be vaguely linked to someone who programmed it or may may have not died and at some point it's going to want pull you into the uh digital world forever so this did not certainly break from those tropes like it it went down them a to like the T but the execution and the Soul was like so well done like it doesn't matter like you can get a way of like going down the same paths in a horror game as long as your execution is just like different enough or so of such a quality that you it doesn't matter right like this game did a lot of unique things um a lot of very intrusive things actually like this is one of the most intrusive metah horror games I've played and I had it on streamer mode it'd be a lot worse if I didn't like you can actually give this game your real email it will send you emails uh usually meta horror games kind of limit themselves to superficial changes like they might make your desktop kind of move around a little bit or like make files appear or stuff like that very superficial sometimes they change your wallpaper this game actually opens your command prompt like it's opening up stuff like it's going into your registry and it gives a warning if you read the man like it's telling you like oh this is what it's going to alter your registry like it's going to go in there so this is a little scarier one if this one was a bad actor this be a little of a scarier game on that end but it's very well done like it's a very well done meta horror game uh talking about the story so the story I think it you probably got the gist of it as you kind of went through and I was going through the uh the files and everything so they make the uh Kino pet the the digital one anyway and the Creator or even creators are now ghosts in the Shell they've been they either died and their souls got absorbed or they got absorbed by the game hence why the Creator was like hey I'm in here I'm probably going to be deleted myself once you delete Kino but like it's okay fine and going back to um what I mentioned about like some of the earliest examples I'm really curious where the first meta horror game or meta horror gamey story not necessarily game but just the setting is a game I'm really curious what the really earliest example in uh pop culture when it comes to like games and Manga and Anime and movies like this kind of thing not novels not literature because there could be examples in there but like something that actually influences modern pop culture because I remember resentiment the the manga that predated U doy DOI predated uh giany from Gravity Falls predated uh I think that one novel from Nitro plus and that had the the premise down to a te of the so when he creates a game World they create a program that's fot sentience is too real and at some point it wants to absorb the protag into the game world but i' really I'd be really curious if someone could do like a a real detective like pop culture Deep dive to find like the most likely example of the one that kind of started at all for everybody not this is the first but the one that people would have maybe known of to use a weird another example of what I mean by that like uh operation wiback it was on the N64 that as one of the first ever like cover Shooters but it probably did not Inspire cover Shooters most cover Shooters are probably inspired by Gears of War so you have an example where something came first but it's not really the granddaddy of that specific style of game but yeah get back to the main subject great game spooky not outright extremely scary but spooky and how like how much stuff it's capable of doing but yeah
