welcome to four to college football on Sportsnet u.s. a.net well I tell you what if the stands were as packed as the booth is right now it would be a sellout here at Cerritos College Falcons field tonight but it's Corey Ryan knowing myself out here to see if the Hornets can get on the right side of winning when you look at them right now the Hornets coming into this game well the record is not what we thought at this time they're two and three overall their losing streak is two they started off strong they're one and two at home they're one and one away and guys when you look at the Falcons they're three and two Corey evenly matched football game tonight Brian Crixus defense and Brian crooks is not happy they need to win this football game sorry too many points have been given up for an offense they can't score that many yeah and it's not all on the defensive side of the ball it's something that the defense has really got to step up be aggressive and listening to the coaching staff on what their assignments should be and they'll be okay otherwise we might have another long day not as long drive home is from Ventura but still Cerritos or Fullerton will seem like two hours if they lose the ballgame tonight knowing you've been out there / they coaches show what you do every week you were out at practice so I got to ask you attitude on the practice field it's a lot better after the bye week as the Hornets got much-needed rest they were very banged up against the Ventura they're against very banged up against the venture of pirates on both sides of the ball another thing I'm going to look for is to them to cut down on penalties they've had a lot of bad penalties where they're in third and Long's it looks like they're gonna get out of it but then they have a late hit which extends the drive for opposing teams so that's been the downside for these Hornets that easily could be undefeated when you look at what they've done so far this season I don't think it's easily undefeated mark I think it's a season that yeah they could have won a couple of those games maybe they should have won one of those games but they didn't so now this is a game that Cerritos comes in thinking they have a good defense a good run game control the tempo and run it down Fullerton throw Fullerton on the opposite side these find an identity identity in their sixth game of the season hunter risin is back deep along next to him cuz the Hornets will receive is Kishan Griffin deep kick Griffin's going to take it in the endzone Griffin at the 10 looks for an Ally's got an alley at the 20 the 30 needs to get one block cuts back the outside it's a footrace 40 30 20 don't let up now's got to keep going look at the coast touchdown Fullerton 100 yards on the return you're gonna give me 102 arts covered in two yards on the touchdown return for cash on Griffin and what a way to break the kickoff return record for the Hornets with the number three Kenna can I mention something we had a conversation in the car and we were talking about speed burners somebody to the far son of our booth said there's nobody who was electric on this team in which which person did you bring up who said who was an electric player and I ride over here no other man right there he just ran 100 in two yards I would have pass out at the 50 but he had 102 and scored six and I'd like to thank Ryan Osborne for scoring a touchdown as well so we're going for two on this one run it straight up the middle the Hornets are in two-point conversion and I'm Brandon Rankin's who I love as a running backs of the Hornets decide to throw a little fork into that baked potato and try to get the steam to come out early here in the first quarter with 1446 to go it's your four to college eighth Cerritos Falcons getting ready for the ball Ryan Osborne you just came in so I wanted to happen what happened down there our Orange Coast College and Golden West college earlier today on sports sent us a net you have Orange Coast and Golden West who have been rivals for years and when you look at Orange Coast they came out and punched Golden West in the nose Oh in the first in the first quarter it was 9 to nothing Golden West had absolutely nothing going into the half and then all of a sudden Golden West in that second half outscored occ 38 to 3 and the final there if I'm not mistaken and if I remember correctly 41 21 as a final so Cerritos will see if they can match up on this as back deep as Brandon Jones for the Falcons take it at the 8th looking very turn straight up the middle cuts the outside taken down at the 31 yard line so Brandon Jones did a nice job on that return he and he and Jacoby Hardy who couldn't decide who wanted to get it but again he's at his average about 23 yards per kick off return they have good field position to start off as the offensive line is sebastian hernandez brandon Logan Christopher Alvarez Jason sitala and David Ibarra McMahon comes in at quarterback starting CJ parks is out there next to McMahon looks things over first down to 10 to the 30 to McMahon throws it out to the flat looking to get somebody there taken down right there is going to be Carl Odum so Odum comes out of the backfield gets a gain of about four on the play up to the 36 yard line second down well they're gonna get barked at as for so it'll be second down in six for the Falcons sorry mark the defense were full of control McDonald Cameron Proctor Josh Durango and jamal dorsey left to right Jose I'm Laurel Tanner bean and Julian duckenfield also left to right for the Hornets Javon Tucker goes to the far side of the field McMahon in shotgun formation at quarterback Fullerton looks like they come up they fake it drop it off the middle again cut in the middle to the outside and once again Oldham is a young man that can run forever for this Falcon football team no he averages 61 yards per game and a good block by Brandon Logan on Josh Durango Odum stays in the back wheel McMahon still a quarterback this is a guy last year who studied under ROM Andre Stevenson who is the best running back in all of the state of California is now starting over at Oklahoma so in the slot and thus our far side the field CJ parks they fake it they run a reverse around the corner trying to get somebody come up ik man needs to make a block and they take it we're gonna get a holding is that gonna be holding from this far Cory says yeah isn't Cory the corners came up quickly on that plate defensively to disrupt the play against the Falcon yeah it's gonna be against Brandon Jones Holdings avión steel on that far side corner position near side corner is going to be where do you go somebody Isaiah Alcazar gets to start Jacob Jones and sir Ross Smith so they move it back well they're now moving the down mark could be nice now they do they bring it back across the 40 39 McMahon still in at quarterback Oldham at running back parks now comes in near side of the field first down in 24 the Falcons right inside the 40-yard line Hornets up by 8 they ended off to Odom again Odom goes just across the 40 gain of two on the play teach me so we're looking at the roster mark tackle by Josh Durango Jamal Dorsey was in there as well Cameron Parker and Josh Arango guys might be the best inside tackle combination in the state second down and 18 just across the 40 Brandon Jones now stacks here on the near side of the field McMahon back there with Odom Fullerton comes up backs out of the deep at standard for rusher McMahon's gonna get hit when he throws it away and just because of that he doesn't have enough time to get the football off the quarterback hurry by Josh charango again puts the pressure on McMinn because he had his court he's a running back Odom on a real right wheel route got a step on duckenfield if it's there that's first down and more Rapada he now comes into the game Odin off-the-field so Hinkley row potty the other running back who averages 45 yards a game when he's out there comes on the field he'll be in the backfield with McMahon Brazil Smith is out in the slot now big third down in about 16 they to run it down there McMahon looks for somebody and it's almost pick the ball looks and they're gonna make that a catch boy I thought the ball hit the ground guys Ryan Osborne we've seen this before with this officiating crew four balls that have hit in the ground well sorry guys that's not a first down no that's fourth down sorry go ahead guys specifically you go back to the the seventh week of the 2015 season and so I think Cerritos thought that at first they're gonna come out with McMahon he's gonna go with an empty backfield fourth down it to CB tries to dry the defense because this Hornet defense now looks like they're lined up offside from where we're at no flag McMahon has to pull it down throws in the flat and throws it right on the money and when he does he throws it to CJ parks and Ryan go back to what you saying about 2015 so in 2015 Saddleback had a chance to eliminate Fullerton College from the playoff picture they got a phantom call in which the ball ended up hitting the turf on a 57-yard pass down the field the officials didn't catch it replays and pictures caught it but yet Fullerton ends up on the losing side of that call and on the losing side of that game kicking them out of the playoff picture Rapada goes up our side of the field McMahon runs the option play pitches it out to a potty whereupon he catches it gets taken down at the 25 yard line so Hinkley R a potty it's a gain of about seven on the play and that's about his average the average is 6 and 1/2 yards you carry so Cerritos likes to run the ball TJ McMahon's not the biggest guy in the pocket but he is effective and you like the defense there by Jacob Jones is with two on one situation quarterback Pitts did a little too early for the quarterback for Cerritos we want to hold on to that a little bit longer Parkes goes the far side of the field Oldham Andra potty stay in the backfield with TJ McMahon and we're going to get timeout by Cerritos so timeout with 1021 go well if you're just catching up with us you missed a hundred and two yard run back guys you said it set a record Korey nailing well it's high to record with three I was thinking from return department turn is to the record would have been three but it tied a record with Martinez Ogletree with three and key only three as well and I'm gonna go down to Noah Noah you heard Corey nail and tell us in the car on the ride over here the Gripen you talked about Hunter rising you said he's the superstar maybe emerging from his team and Cory nail is sort of countered it and said well the young man standing next to him in the endzone could be that blazing speed you saw it in the last kickoff and we've seen it already Cory said two times this season it was funny because I was just talking with coach Phyllis and this week a personal touch fizzle yes coach velocity during this week's coaches show and he said that's you know what it ad what what a plus it is to have this on a team especially when they're struggling offensively like they have been all season to have a dynamic group of returners in Kashan Griffin and others for this bulletin Hornets team so we'll see what happens as they come back out second down and one just at the 25 one on one at the corner fall forward and you get a first down and the defense was there but they couldn't make the play you're gonna say just short Cory Neyland with great eyes up here Ryan Osborne said he was down early so it's third down and about a half a foot right now for the Falcons they come into this game three and two the Hornets are two and three CJ parks lines up in the slot on the right hand side Rapada stays in the backfield with McMahon Hornets walk up defensively they hand it off to row potty he goes off tackle gets hit behind there puts his foot down into the ground at the five the four he dives touchdown Falcons that's a toughest 24-yard run as you'll ever see ink Lehrer potty gets into the end zone and he's just a dynamic guy out there 222 yards on the season as a flag is on the play so we'll see what the penalty is going to be touchdown against the Falcons dead ball personal foul against the Falcons unsportsmanlike conduct is what they're calling it against the Hornets Oh a little mouthing off going on so far in the game here as now the Falcons will attempt to go 4-2 so impressive drive by Cerritos nice answer and now they're decided they're going to take the extra points gonna try and make it you know it's interesting guys if you look at what they do is the ball will be spotted at the 10 kick is up and the kick is blocked live ball you could return it for two now in the end zone and it's in you know guys I was gonna bring up the thing it's real interesting and Corey I found it really interesting with kicking that's the first extra point that no that's they've had to they've attempted 21 that was 22 Paul Rodriguez does the extra points but yet they have a field goal kicker that comes in to kicked from long yardage guys that's a little unusual isn't it it is and I know Paul Rodriguez and the deal that they have there is that they have a specific guy who they like to go for long range paulie's going to come in anything under 25 yards that's his specialty when they bring in their field goal kicker that's everything over 25 yards each one is told that they have to specialize in one area well protect protect but rescue Coran know you're gonna correct me on this name is the one who how do you say thank you he's going to be the one that kicks all of them so far this season for the Falcons is that Romanian Griffin back deep with hunter risin Griffin last I am a hundred and two yards we're sitting here it's eight to six it's a baseball game bottom of the first runners on second and third Noah Alvarez looks over get signals from Ryan Osborne hunter rise and says hey this is my turn and he's gonna backpedal about eight yards deep and says no I don't think I'll take it out which on this part might be a wise decision we're at 9:37 here in this don't forget if you're trying to get here on time like Ryan Osborne did from Golden West college will the best way to do it is to get that new Toyota from Miller Toyota of Anaheim new and used cars the best deals you can get in the Orange County Southern California section Miller Toyota vanaheim is a proud sponsor of high school sports community college sports but most of all education that's Miller Toyota of Anaheim so the Hornets come out for their first offensive abilities out here Quinn comments at quarterback lucky even jure or AB injure with an eye at running back they hand it off the lucky lucky goes off a left tackle gets a gain of about two as Cory Neal and tells us about this offensive line Drake Staton left tackle Nate Ramirez will be the left guard Glenn Bernard is the center Cory Edward the right guard and Isiah Obus is the right tackle Dana - on the play lucky stays in the backfield Quinn looks off lucky rolls out Quinn's got time to throw rolls a wheel route we're lucky coming out of the backfield get so 35 drops his head should be a first down so one of the few times we've seen a running back on a wheeeeel play get a pass thrown to him and a quick first down for the Hornets kaylynn no self comes to the near side of the field Quinn Cummings at quarterback Quinn's had a decent year this year 1st down and 10 right at the 38 Quinn goes the opposite side of the field puts it to hunter rise and hunter rise and gets it gets across the 35 gain of 7 second down and three they quickly come to the line of scrimmage hunter in the slot to the right side no so wide out to the left they go back over there throw it to Tim Allen Tim Allen catches it crosses the 50 all the way down to the 48 so rising Tim Allen and Griffin to the far side of the field they change things out Spencer Owens now comes in the game so Spencer Owen comes in with coy Thomas first down at ten across the 50 straight dive play up the middle missed right there lucky gets a gain of 7 on the play and when you look at that defense for Cerritos it seems like they play with 12 players out there out of time so Logan Applewhite Akina of Glen Bay Anthony Shipton Elijah dolphin Victor Clanton Etienne vilela de Mario can go Mario Kiki Noah Peterson Cameron minor and treyvion Bullard where Ballard excuse me out on D second down and four straight dive play again this time does it go anyplace get stopped at the fort a gain of maybe a foot it'll bring up a third down and four for the Hornets right at the 40 with 724 to go the Hornets are up by two it's the Hornets 8 the Falcons 6 here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net Quinn Cummings brings them out quick how to rise on the far side of the field Tim Allen near side of the field we get a jump Quinn Cummins has a free pass down the middle of the field one handed by hunter rise that is that hunter that did that it's Leonard rising with a grab at third base doesn't need to make the tag and runs into the dugout for a touchdown it was a free play as Cerritos jumped offside hunter rising everybody stopped he put his paw out there makes the catch brings it in and accelerates for six Marcus Grossman esque out there so the Hornets with 701 to go in the first quarter now have 14 points in the game you know no we were talking about two players that were gonna make an impact today on the drive over here we know we're talking about so far we look really good right now don't we unfortunate you don't know who's on the field but that's okay oh I'm sorry my bad there we go see this is why I have somebody who knows what he's doing with the board Ryan Osborne Wallace bought it kick is up and the kick is good yeah rashon he locks been there before too so I'm gonna go back I'm gonna go down the end because I've got tonight's broadcast as Noah of course we've got somebody from Golden West college Ryan Osborne Corey Neyland myself calling him and I'm gonna go back down to you know because you thought maybe hunter Rison could be this inspirational player with a great deal of talent that could spark this fortune offense yeah this Fullerton offense has a lot of good receivers a lot of good playmakers in the backfield - they just don't have anyone that could break one loose at any given moment and just from what we saw in that game against the Ventura College pirates and wish the Fulton lost in overtime we saw rice and make seven catches two big touchdowns as well for the team really adding a spark that was lacking in that offense for the previous five weeks so we'll see if the Hornets can continue this during the game Brandon Jones and Jacoby Hardy are back deep for the Falcons they answered quickly when they got their hand on the ball little pooch kick in the middle of the field signals for a fair catch taking it to 25 the ball is dead right there so they're gonna mark it right at the 21 yard line of course Ryan Osborne who does a lot of the Golden West college games is with us here tonight also along with Noah now Ryan has been the producer of the coaches show for the last couple years he took it over for me isn't the coach's show out now it is you should watch it it's good stuff there's excellent stuff CJ Parkes goes to the far side of the field the emphasis this week is on the student athlete man comes back in at quarterback first down at 10 they're gonna mark it right at the 25 straight dye play by Rapada up the middle again that was Jacoby Hardy Michael stake parties in the backfield so they run with few running backs back there they go with three consistently Jacoby Hardy that's his 15th carry Odom has 57 repot e34 coming into the game so they got a three-headed monster that they actually use out there hardy in the backfield tight formation this time for them with a second down to five right at the 30 they handed off to hardy who gets swung away goes the outside now is gonna backtrack because the Hornets are there make well I thought it was a sure tackle and then out of the scrum Corey nailing it was like a pickle coming out of a sandwich it just squirted out into no-man's land that's because pickles don't belong on most sandwiches so that's what happens third down and eight loss on that one if a couple of yards brings up a third down and eight at the 28 McMahon brings her back out 556 to go here in the first quarter Jevon Tucker to the nearest other field park in the slot next to the near side of the field again double pump ball comes out Hornets come down with it do they have the turnover they do and that's gonna be Cameron Proctor forcing the fumble so the Hornets come away and Ryan Osborne you've seen this with a lot of Brian crooks defenses hasn't showed up early this year but finally the defense may be in control of a game well I mean you go back to like 2017 and that's kind of a Tyler Stephanie special right there where Stephanie would come around the edge and he'd swing his right arm into the quarterback to pop that loose as you said we haven't seen that in the last Oh we'll say eight months or so if you include the final three weeks of last season as well so we have a player down right now so we have a little injury timeout Corey we talked to Brian crypts Brian crooks basically hasn't been happy with this defense to say the least they have their own mind on the defensive side of the ball and sometimes that's not a good thing when you're out there trying to be one as a team and things get missed on the defensive end so they want to be as one for the entire season and we'll see if he gets better here that's three and a half sacks for Proctor his first forced fumble of the season and it looked like Jamal Dorsey pounced on it to get it in Ron you were saying something about the student-athletes for the coaches so indeed so this week on the coach's show it's all about tutoring centers and also learning centers at Fullerton College and the time that you as a student-athlete emphasize in being the student you have the opportunity to go to those places and improve that level kaylynn know civ and Tim Allen to the near side of the field they look to run a middle screen and there's nothing there another thing we talked about in the cards almost like what would we have a radio in the car again people are sort of picking up on what we've discussed anthony Shipton was their big man two sacks three tackles for loss on the season disrupted that play significantly second down a ten Rison the lone person out there we got the official sort of slowing things out Tim Allen no slip comes a near side of the field Griffin inside slot to the near side of the field Quinn comments looks things over second down in 10 right at the 23 Quinn looks over gets a signal clock just stopped at 5:31 Quinn sort of changes things up the line of scrimmage backs out again and we're going to get know they're gonna say restart the play clock it ran down they didn't restart it Tim Allen comes over to find out what's going on they get set again so it's Allen no sip and Griffin in the slot on the left hand side hunter rising all by himself on the right hand side second down and 10 Quinn looks over Garrett tells them to run the same play again Hornets up by 9 early in this game with 531 to go Quinn goes back has time now he gets caught from behind ball comes out turnabout is fair play as now the defense comes and gets that fumble and it looked like and it was logan Applewhite who came through on the side and stripped in Vallely was there as well Applewhite gets the strip a nice job by the big man in Fullerton turns it right back over so you said he turnabout is fair play and they did just that and you also have to look at Quinn's responsibilities on that one he had Keyshawn Griffin open in the slot on his left hand side as a sophomore you got to look at that progression and at least throw it in that direction it may not reach him but you avoid a turnover Odom comes in at running back again now for the Falcons he's back back there with TJ McMahon sitting back there Javon Tucker the near side of the field McMahon looked looks over takes it down himself takes off running it's a 30 40 slides across the 40-yard line gene up they're gonna mark him down where the slide starts right at the 40 that's gonna be a first down Reggie Whitfield now in the game along with Jalen excuse me Jr Wiley at the safety position Jonathan Smith number 34 and white also at the safety for the Hornets Odom stays in the backfield Decker comes to the near side of the field first down and ten at the 40 they hand it off to Odom odor of trys go off the left side of the field and there's a brick wall waiting for him it's a couple Hornets I look like a Fullerton College volleyball right there lock at the wall and forming that wall nice job by the Hornets interior that might that's the probably the best guys best unit on the defensive side of the ball is at front four I think it's the best unit on both sides of the ball for the bullets and Hornets second down in ten Hornets up by nine it's the Hornets 15 the Falcons 6 here on Sportsnet USA net McMahon the intend to keep matching up against the Hornets looks over the defense Odom still in the backfield they go back through it quick out to CJ Park CJ Park turns a corner gets up to the 50 across the 50 down at the 49 for parks he only comes off so he have to sit out one play but Cerritos with that turnover they're moving the ball well and their first two possessions in it I'm not really a quick first half but a first quarter but a high-scoring first quarter with three touchdowns already McMahon at quarterback Javon Tucker comes out here to the near side of the field 1st down and 10 at the 49 for the Falcons Falcons run it again this time they've got Hinckley row potty in it running back gets a gain of maybe one on the play Tanner being on to stop so with 15 to 6 is to score with the Hornets up briancrooke said he might not blitz that much this game but might see a little bit more zone that we're used to so it's gonna be a second down and nine right at the 49 her body stays in at running back dunker comes in near side of the field second down and nine for McMahon and the Falcons right across the 50 McMahon goes back feels the pressure coming out of throws out here and quickly gets taken down in the flat Jeremy he would comes away with that one not a little guy out there is it you know Jeremy's a big kid out there six three to 70 that's a tight end so third down for the Falcons and what was interesting about that throw McMahon knew he had the guy out there at 270 he was able to box out two defenders and still get a good pass and a good run after the catch Brandon Jones comes out of the game and a third down and two they run a straight dive no place to go so they're gonna lose that's gonna bring up a fourth down at the 44 and you wonder what the falcons me try to do go for it six and a half tackles for loss for troy mcdonald on the stop it again Fullerton really hasn't stopped him yet Brandon Jones goes to the far side of the field Tucker's gonna be with him on the far side of the field Jeremy he would to the near side of the field in the slot McMahon empty backfield fourth down and four McMahon pump fakes looks port throws it across the market boy run far enough Brian Osborne you get the first down and that's the emphasis there you're told to just go right to the first down marker and stick and immediately turn around to your quarterback McMahon finds the easy spot on his left first down in ten guys didn't Brian of crooks tell us before the game that his defensive secondary he's gonna have to play tighter in situations like that he did and I was just gonna ask you to explain that we'll get to that in just a second here with the first down in ten at the 35 McMahon does it again with 1:24 to go in the first quarter Hornets come up on the outside they say they're not a blitzing team but they brought it this time in that blitz work we get a flag and Cory either that's holding or that's defensive holding I don't see how it can be defensive holding but you could see hands to the face by Fullerton but you think it's gonna be holding and I'm gonna Deline declined the penalty as duckenfield gets this gets the sack and Cory's right on as that's gonna get to Clint I got to go back to you really quick though when we look at that Brian crooks was not happy with the defensive backs at the Ventura game the week before the bye yeah cuz there was a game plan in place with the game plan in place he knew were they they didn't throw a ball past eight yards the whole game so if you know there's gonna be passes thrown out in the flat you have to come up you have to play aggressive and you have to split those offensive guys and don't let them get hands on you so it's gonna bring up a second about 22 throw it quickly out in the flat where Fadi catches it on the dead run misses one tackle two tackles missed three tackles missed four tackles Mitch down to the 15 first down Falcon that's just what you want to do Noah claisen as well as Brandon Logan leading the way for Potter and he Crete does a nice job and I'm gonna show my age later in the game and I hope you guys don't throw me off the window when I make that joke first and ten at the 16 so the sack was temporary to say the least sort of like living arrangements for some individuals it'll be a first down and ten right at the 16 yard line McMahon sees them coming again McMahon gets a high snap what do you do you hand it off against everybody on defense right now it's sort of maybe making a tackle in Cory I know I mentioned Ramon Dre earlier in autumn being the understudy of I'm Andre Stevenson but ro potties elusiveness has a lot of characteristics the same type of runner that Vermonter e was last year because you see him do the stutter step you see him either shorten up his stride or lengthen his stride according to how close the defender is ya Ramon Dre was on a whole nother level though I'm not saying talent wise they don't know I mean even even with the stutter steps and a theorem Andre with one step and you know was gonna score or thought he can score each and every time tinkly he runs the ball yeah he both of them under studied under Stevenson which may just make them better back so last year we saw they were decent but after Stevenson left their right they are using his capabilities in his tutoring to do well this season well we'll see if Rapada and the rest of the running backs for the Falcons can continue to do what they need to do as we come to the end of the first quarter it's the Hornets 15 the Falcons 6 here on Sportsnet USA net I tell you what if you want to drive like Ryan Osborne or maybe Noah Alvarez well you want to make sure you have that brand new Toyota there's no better place to buy Toyota then Miller Toyota vanaheim I got so excited about you talking about running back I just said that too quick Miller Toyota of Anaheim is a proud sponsor of community college sports high school sports and most of all education hey guys we had an over/under on points when we started this and I don't know the way that first quarter went we might hit that over/under I I don't know if we'll hit that over I don't know if we hit the score that we predicted you think the defenses are going to tighten up then no but I don't think we'll hit the score I think like Fullerton College Cerritos has a very strong defensive line there we saw it with the sack of via Quinn Commons when you're looking at their sack members to Cerritos actually had one more sack on the year and Fullerton is a top bulletin to the top 15 team in the state of California when it comes to sack so both teams and their strength in their defense of line they studied under Stephenson under me Odom now back in it running back they run a counter there is a flag on the play as they wrote it too late counter on the play and Ryan a delayed counter should do what to a defensive line a delayed counter sucks in the defensive line in and it really doesn't allow for any support to come in behind them the linebackers already committed to what their reads are going to be so a zone counter allows you to see where the defensive line is and then running in the opposite direction that all gets negated by a holding call so we'll see what the Hornets want to do if they want to decline and they've declined the penalty so they will accept the penalty which was a loss on the play it will bring up a third down and 13 at the 20 we just started the second quarter it's the Hornets 15 the Falcons 6 here on Sportsnet USA net its conference time we'll see if the Hornets can run the conference and at least come away with a partial crown this season big third down McMann goes back looks alright goes back on to the late screen straight up the middle and that was a pretty is a photograph of me oh my goodness that was so nice and Corral but go back to you because we don't have insta replay you and ribose went oh my goodness so let's set that play up one more time what I said about Ramon Dre Stephen said not really being out there tonight I was so wrong cuz he looked like Ramon Derry when he caught that pass and had not one not two not three but five offensive linemen ahead of him just leading the way and the screen they faked it to the outside Fullerton played that well but the rest of the field was wide open all I've got is poor Jacob Jones oh man so with 14 25 to go the Falcons once again answer and I don't know maybe that over I think the bill Alvarez is look a little better as we sit here right now the Hornets up by - it's a Hornets 15 the Falcons 13 Noah Alvarez corene a landmark Pavlovic Ryan mr. 30 minutes Osborne from Golden West college here all in sports at USA net mark we've been talking all week you know just going back and forth tweeting you're talking when was the last time you seen a good screenplay besides at Green Bay Packers Ryan I was born saying right now and that was it that may have been the best screenplay I have ever seen I have never seen five offensive lineman running down the field leading the way behind before their running back I mean that was simply beautiful but even more quarry is that they were all coordinated in that they stayed at the line of scrimmage until the pass was received and then moved forward because too often as an offensive lineman you can kind of get ahead of yourself start creeping seven yards downfield you get that hankie coming out onto the field instead they all waited counted out how long it would take and then move forward yeah so I'm not sure if that's Dawson Williams or Taylor out there one hunter Rison best Williams hunters going to take it he's got it at the 10 looks to find the edge needs a block turns the corner and that wasn't oh and I made a mistake I thought that was him that was Williams too far side of the field so so they're gonna mark him down at the 28 and really that screenplay takes advantage of you brought it up know what the best part of Fullerton College you said was the defensive line that over aggressive aggressiveness got taken advantage of and it's definitely gonna put a halt to the Blitz packages that Bryan cooks is one of is gonna want to send to while he's on defense Fonzo Graham now in the backfield for the Hornets first down in 10 right to 28 they hand it off to Graham grant goes off the left side maybe gets to the 30-yard line Clanton makes the stop linebacker out there 25 tackles coming into the game 1 and a half sacks three tackles for loss at Cooper calais mark he's in there he's a more running quarterback than Quinn Commons so look for him to take off a couple times so callous at quarterback Rams standing next to him Lorenzo pin on the near side of the field Calais goes back he's going to take you down himself middle of the field holds up he's running down the field with a loaf of bread looking for some butter gets it right there at the 40 says thank you here's your $5 and I got a first down 24 yards on the run so across the 40 they quickly come up scram stays in there 34 sorry at running back first down to 10 they can't spot the ball quick enough Graham says well I'll take it here let me help you out thanks for inviting me over they just cut the down mark spotted and they ran the play so it's a gain of three Kalin no sift comes in near side of the field Kashan Griffin on the slot on the SAR by the far side of the field with Tim Allen outside of him on the far side of the field Calais takes his time I need to slow down as much as the offense is Calais goes back goes through this side the field back shoulder pash it couldn't have thrown that any prettier take the knee tell you what Noah that was a beautiful back shoulder pass throw him right there by Calais yeah we saw cows make a few of those throws to against Ventura College the last time the Hornets played first down to 10 at the 15 Calais brings them back up goom's back again gets rid of it just why it's thrown turn fight for the ball incomplete passes Calais goes down on the turf good pressure by Cerritos marking Dimitri Hernandez just a little bit too late to get the sack but pressure just enough to make that ball under thrown so it's gonna bring up a second down in ten right at the 16 Calla stays in there Graham at running back Tim Allen comes to the slot on the right side of the field coy Thomas is the wide receiver Tim Allen goes in motion from right to left they entered off to Graham Graham gets taken down for a loss of five on the play with 12 27 to go it's the Hornets 15 the Falcons 13 have to be bitter on the stop and there was nowhere to go he blew past brake State and Drake State mrs. Bach on the left side and so once he misses that block excuse me not trait statement that was isaiah Obus who missed his block on the outside and here comes Anthony Miller for the stop Tim Allen to the near side of the field gripping in the slot next to him Calais at quarterback third down and 14 for the Hornets at the 20 Calais has somebody takes it on himself looks for a block runs for the quarter touchdown Hornets and we said Cooper Calais is more of a running running quarterback 34 yards on this camper in that time he runs 25 for six in Fullerton College nice job so we look at it Cory it's going back and forth and eventually I'm gonna have to say to you guys during this first half if it keeps going this way creative offense or porous defences it's been porous defenses so far because you look at both of these two sides yeah we love Brian crooks defense but unfortunately they have really had some holes in this one in the early going when you look at Cerritos according to their stats this season they've had a lot of holes the entire way through especially in the first three weeks so Ryan Osborne thinks it's bad defense will see as we keep going in this game if that's the outcome with 11:49 to go it's the Hornets 21 the Falcons 13 here on Sportsnet USA net and coach Gary Campbell may have opened up to his playbook a little bit more at this in this first quarter and in this first half that run game it looks a little bit like Jordan Huy not a designed run but it did live well it could have been a design run but just a more of a delay to open up and spread that off in south have the middle wide open for him to take off I think it was a delayed run designed run because off on Joe Graham was made a huge block on the safety down the field that freed up Calais ball is spotted kick is up and the kick is no good so with 11:49 to go it's the Hornets 21 the Falcons 13 here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net Corrine Allen Ryan Osborne Noah Alvarez I got my spotter about six and a half miles from meet down in front gabi nailing I'm surprised we can even see her from this far away get vertigo just looking down grab onto nowhere he's by the camera if he goes let no one go save the camera I think I got that text from edy Ford said if the camera goes send Noah with it so we're all set we got we got word for mid fork just Noah just know I know I thought nervous all four of us need to go do I want to hurt anybody throw in you and Corey out that window hey we're like marshmallows it'd be like oh yeah it'd be like the Richter graph would go off the scale no you like the Stay Puft I didn't see that version tres leches that one the gatekeeper Kobe Hardy and Brandon Jones back for the Falcons and Fonseca that's another miss that's his second field goal or excuse me extra point attempt and missed on the season he's 19 of 21 now but more importantly Korey he is three out of his last five and keep your eyes on Jacob Hardy he's already got a return for a touchdown this season for those Falcons 72 yards little pooch kick off the side of the up person and goes sideways out of bounds so the Falcons are gonna start at the 23 we're at 11:47 in this first half it's the Hornets 21 the Falcons 13 on a great offensive display tonight here on Sportsnet USA net Fullerton comes back up with David farmer and Jacob Jones if Safety's Avion steal at one corner and Reggie Whitfield the other corner Josiah Mauro Joe Christianson now the middle backer he's got one touchdown that was scored against Santa Ana Allen Iran has at the other line back at number 32 on white Odum comes in at running back McMahon at quarterback they've been able to produce so far McMahon brings about first down in ten changes things up fuller two walks up a line hacker backs off quickly they hand it off to Odom Odom spits at the line of scrimmage what a beautiful move gets across the 30 all the way out to the 33 yeah you're right Ryan I see where we're Mondrian really had an effect on these two running backs as Braylon Willis is in there and Elijah Mont makes the stop jamal dorsey along with Cameron Proctor Hardy now comes in so you have Odum and Hardy in the game at the same time they'll go with well they're trying to find hard he's trying to figure out where I'm supposed to be going which side the field he finally decides to come out here on the near side of the field by himself second down and one at the 33 McMahon goes back he looks for Hardy on a streak pattern tries to get underneath it can't incomplete pass and that time the defensive back was blanketed on the Falcon well that's a beyond we you don't really worry too much about Savion when he's out there he's really got his own own being going and it's it's really last week he was the one making the tackles coming up in the first half of the game when jacob jones came in last week it really settled the defense down he you saw them to take control and even talking with his defensive backs coach phil austin he said that he has enough athletic ability even when he does get beat off the line of scrimmage he can recover in time mcmahon comes back out we're gonna get a timeout on the field and so with 10:59 to go here in the first half it's the hornets 21 the falcons 13 on Sportsnet USA dot now well your Hornets started off fast a hundred and two yards on a kickoff return the falcons answered the Hornets came back and answered that and again we saw Cooper callus there Noah who comes into the game something we haven't seen our quarterbacks do a lot up you think it was a design play decided to finally just say hey he'll put up the middle and I'll run for the end zone I think Calais had his best game against the Ventura pirates two weekends ago and props to coach Campbell for you a little bit more and getting it more involved with the offense this week early on so the running backs and the quarterbacks have done something so far in this game today for both these teams since the Hornets are up right now by 8 points and you look at McMahon this young man who's just a freshman for this Falcon team 972 yards 194 I game 11 touchdowns 3 interceptions a good almost 4 to 1 ratio touchdowns two interceptions is an excellent ratio for any quarterback third and one looks to go out here in the flat out in the flat that should be enough for a first down Oh seems where they market they're gonna move two chains they are going to move the chains they be on again comes up with the stop that could have been a 6 8 yard game but Savion comes up makes it a one and a half yard game but still that one and a half yards it's still a good enough for a first down as chanyeol comes back in take it over for dominic Vargas Tanner being in the middle for Joel Christensen so 1st down and 10 at the 35 Hornets standard 4-3 defense we run it straight up going to the outside Odum sinks throws a little zag in there and that's enough for 13 yards guys you've got to be impressed with Odum as a running back or the three-headed monster running back they've got on the field yeah and I'm impressed with McMahon the way he maneuvers the ball in and out it was a it was so good of a give to the handoff he carried out that fake and the Flemington defense thought he's still half the ball and Odum ran right by him real potty now comes in at running back so Odum picks up 13 row potti comes in at running back 1st down and 10 across the 45 at the 46 they hand it off to row potty row potty gets a gain of six on the play and both teams come in off with blue two game losing streak in both offensive lines we were pretty malign I mean Fullerton's has been relatively better the last couple games but they they still lost Cerritos their big offense line and they've been so far this season they're trying to prove this game that they were good at picking up from last year CG Parks goes out the slot in the right hand side on a second down in six McMahon walks up changes the play comes back everyone gets set hornets creep up and left inside they're bringing heat and fortunately they close the hole with a gain of about a foot on the play it's gonna bring up a manageable third down for the Falcons mark a couple scores for you an interesting score big game Saddleback versus southwestern as this is the first week of conference play 16 to 7 Saddleback over southwestern and El Camino El Camino 14 to 13 over San Diego Mesa in the second quarter Coronel and suffering from oxygen deprivation here on top of the mountain third down big third down for this Hornet defense hasn't made a stop in this game throw it out the flat once again picks it up they moved the chains neither guys am I mistaken has there been a punt in this game no I didn't think so and again Cerritos did a nice job of looking at their game film for recognizing fluency not a hard time really that whole game two weeks ago it's Ventura there was quick outs you get the ball out and you make it it's just a long-run play and they're picking up big yardage we're at the 8 minute mark here in the first half the Hornets are up by 8 eights are wild first down in 10 for the Falcons just short of the 40-yard line man looks over it goes back cast protection McMahon throws it out to flat one more time trying to take away is Tucker Jovan Tucker tries to spin out of a solid tackle but gets a gain of three on the play steal again and James Avion is a team's second leading tackler for two tackler and that's not common from a poor cornerback a cornerback is usually those guys who cover don't want to get hit don't want to hit anybody they be on the type of guy said yeah let's just hit everybody second on the team attack was coming into this game behind Josh Arango CJ parks goes the far side of the field Tucker goes with him McMahon licks over second down and a long eight at the 40 here comes the pressure McMahon McMahon gets rid of it quickly and that's going to be about a gain of six on the play and he throws it to Jill bond Tucker the leading receiver for this Falcon football team 18 receptions coming into the game four touchdowns 18 and a half yard average and that's a guy who kind of reminds you of a TJ Houshmandzadeh for Cerritos not the fastest guy but a guy is gonna make all the catches my buddy I just call him TJ I don't need to use last names with guys who are close to me TJ's at home gone third down and one right at the 35 for the Falcons worth a six-minute mark and we're gonna get another timeout by the Falcons so the Falcons want to take advantage of this opportunity and call timeout on the field they've got zero left in this half here on Sportsnet USA net we talked about the coaches show well I've got one of the hosts to my far right no Alvarez sitting next to him my executive producer of the coach's show Ryan Osborne my other section of producer of the coach's show Cory nailing guys when we get to halftime because we do have one of our gentlemen now Victor Alvarez adding a little other no I'm sorry that's no Alvarez I'm sorry Victor I'm sorry man thank goodness you're in San Francisco but Victor adds a little texture now to the coach's show and when we get it halftime Noah and Ryan I'll tell you what's going on and what to look forward to the coaches show now and in the future and maybe you can touch on a little what's going on with volleyball over at the Hornets little well let's see maybe volleyball and then maybe a little soccer over at what the pitch the aqueduct adjacent o to the pitch the pitch the aqueduct and the somebody somebody the court okay there we go here on Sportsnet us dotnet third down and one no defense has made a stop and forced a punt in this game with six 31 to go McMahon straight die play once again right off right tackle nice blocking drop your head go straight forward Cory Neal and always says easiest way to beat an aggressive defense is run straight at him run straight at him on a quick hitters in the pink Lera potty went head up against Tanner bean and Tanner bean didn't win that matchup on that play first and ten for the Falcons Jacoby Hardy now comes in so hard he's in first down to ten right across the 30 Hardy goes on the near end of the far side of the field so looks like he was going out wide tight formation McMahon goes back row potty comes out of the backfield on a wheel route all by himself and says oh I forgot parking hey do you have $5 I forgot to pay for parking and they sent him back and said sorry young man we don't take IOUs touchdown written all over it yeah that was six-man they read they picked up the Blitz they knew it was coming and they have the perfect play call so second down and ten across the 30 McMahon brings her back out we're at the 554 mark here left in the first half here comes the Blitz McMahon once again said it worked once or a pot he comes back out again it's gonna go out by the 20 and he had big guys in front of him court he just outran him yeah he outran him was AV on steel and they ran the exact same play and I love when coaches do it they come back to the same play that time read it just a little bit better desire morale was still late on the uptake and couldn't find and place for parties so that's why he picks up a positive game but Corey you also look at Xavier on he beats the offensive lineman to that spot so the angle wasn't there even if he had if he had rode behind them CBI was already there Park and Tucker go to the far side of the field 1st down and 10 at the 20 McMahon fakes it throws it over and fights again leap over the top and one of the things that people are getting criticized on are the hurdles by receivers now on the field well that's that's illegal at the high school level so they're trying to eliminate that by grandfathering it forward from the bottom level up no now they shouldn't you jump over people I told mark my age today so I remember Billy Sims doing that back in the day Reggie Bush did it for you younger people back in the day or I excuse me newer in the day so no don't get rid of it second down and a long five at the 15 for the Falcons they run a double reverse coming back steel comes up sets the corner and give it okay I'm gonna ask you because xavius steel makes that play even though he may not make the tackle Corey yeah because he read it correctly he came up and feel Jamal Dorsey read it initially but he did bid on that second referrer that first reverse and got blocked by McMahon steel continues to read it forces to come back in to Dorsey and make the play and that's also a tribute to how well he tackles in the open field because Cerritos realized they'd rather take the loss than try and take on Ziggy on one on one yeah third down time at Hornets with four minutes to go here in the first half it's the Hornets 21 the Falcons 13 here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net 13 players on the field that time for Fullerton one ran off and they still would have had 12 well that's sort of like us up here in their booth there's two there's four there's six there's eight there's nine and they all pay for parking yeah there we go they're on Sportsnet USA net but we were talking about earlier in the year where does Xavier steel rank all-time with some of the defensive backs that have come through here at full its in college and you sure you want to go here no I'm just I'm just to me pitch that steals case I think he's an all-around defensive back let me saw they're very as Corey gets his list steel has really good eye discipline able to set the boundary there we're solid tackler to the point where I think he could play safety at either safety position he has the ball skills when he's playing in off coverage he can make the play on the ball he has really great hands as well and then he has a speed to press and run it even if he gets beat he has that catch up speed elite catch up speed or I think steel makes a very good case there's no doubt he's one of the best so it's third down and nine McMahon comes up look here comes the pressure McMahon sidesteps one task get away from the pressure we Dalls his way and give it to McMahon who should have been sacked for a loss picked his way through a crowd and got a gain up four on the play Jacob Jones comes up to prevent the first down I mean he's five yards away but if Jones wasn't there to feel he picks up the first down and the drive continues and with 3:40 to play in the half that looks like they're gonna go for it because otherwise it'd be a 31 yard field goal attempt and this is once again I'm gonna have to have Ryan Osborne get back in this conversation because he knows one of the field goal kickers Ryan I'll get to you in a second on this fourth down play again defense has not stopped anybody on either side on a third down play big fourth down play with the Falcons with three minutes to go here comes a pressure McMahon runs away from McMahon it's got the pressures got to fling it up in the back of the end zone touchdown Falcons what a catch by C Jay parks what a throw by TJ McMahon coverage was there and just a little bit late as Tyler Hogan was there in front no excuse me that's a Ross Smith who was in front and McMahon I thought he's going underneath myself with the first down but he went to CJ parks for the six gutsy call fourth touchdown of the season for parks and so the Falcons will go 4-2 to try and tie this game up with 307 left here in the first half and if they make it we're sitting at 42 points in the first half alone timeout for the Hornets so let's go back to the play I'll throw it out to the group here because I was sort of like Cora I thought McMahon was gonna get hit before he could throw the football Ryan Osborn that's what it looked like initially but I want to go to the catch with CJ Parks if you notice Korie when he goes up for that football he keeps his left knee up in the air coiled so that way as soon as he secures the ball in his hands he stomps his left foot down he was already prepared to tota before the ball even reached him oh yeah I mean that's one of the things you have to do as a receiver you have to know where you are at all times that field recognition where you're up in the air if your feet are down you don't have that opportunity to bring them back up and put them down you don't have that time to toe tap if you're going up so you keep your legs loose and make sure you bring it down cuz you only need one so you want to decide which one you want to get down in on that play is just an exceptional exceptional throw an exceptional nimbleness out of the CJ Parks out of modern a high school and once again Noah let's let's go back those defensive backs Corey's talked about him you've talked about him you sort of wonder how coach position he's feeling right about now on his defensive back well they've struggled to make tackles all year and then you've seen the corner upon the opposite side of Xavier on steel you usually get picked on in most of those games so the Falcons going for to to try and tie things up McMahon comes out rolls away from the pressure here comes the pressure thrown up in the middle of the air just short wouldn't have got in for the two points but the pressure stops I mean Corey says where was the hawk tie call I mean Troy McDonald with clothes lined out there no holding Paul well saying I was looking for that but guys I'm gonna go back and we teach and the reason we teach Phil Austin right now is because in an interview he was accidentally called coach fizzle and that's Queen we know feel really really well but I'm gonna go back to the defensive back you mentioned it Cory that they aren't as a group maybe what we thought they would be is that is that a polite way to put it performing like we thought they would okay there's a better yeah I don't want to be mean about yeah that's why I'm asking and I think that play was just a better offensive play than the defensive way because coverage was there he was just needed a perfect throw and a great catch we'll see if the Hornets can get another one deep in the end zone gonna take it out three yards deep for the male just gets tripped up short of the 20 so the Falcons have changed things up and again the defenses have not been able to stop any team be it on a third down with yardage third down with short yardage or a fourth down play on either side of the football tonight but to go back to what you were saying mark what this defensive back how many players played significant playing time last year only one being Xavier on steal David farmer played two seasons ago this is a Hornet team that put out 40 to be 50 players out to the Division one level last season from last year's roster so it's a very young team and one of those young units is the defensive backs Quinn comments back in a quarterback going deep down the field comets trying to put it right there and the money good defensive play his comment hasn't knocked away right across the 50 treyvion Ballard there was step for step that's his third pass breakup of the season Ballard one of the captains for the Falcons this year and they've got about nine captain's out there they're really he's gonna step up before the season started to probe forget this team they won a conference championship at well they it hasn't it's been a while since Cerritos has got a conference championship second down and 10 right at the 18 common throws it to lucky like he turns up field spins back at the 20 stays on his feet gets up to the 23 brings up a marketable third down to mario king on the stop coming up with the ball actually he's a Cerritos defender Nate Walker he wants a fumble but play and momentum plus Thompson Sonos it to the near side of the field under Rison to the far side of the field DeSean Griffin in the slot next to Rison on the far side of the field third down and five at the 23 Quinn commits throws in the flat finds hunter risin hunter rise and gets past the sticks then comes back though give him forward progress at the 30 Hornets moving we're at the two-minute mark here in the first half 21 to 19 Quinn comes back pump fakes going down in that time Quinn comments and his receivers were not on the same page it was a good idea of what they wanted to do fake the out to Tim Allen go down the field with Hunter rising on that type of play if you have enough time you want to fake I want to try to fake to the left throw to the right if you have enough time to mix it up go this misdirection on the Falcons near side of the field Tim Allen Griffin hunter risin far side of the field Nosa those are your receivers second down and 10 at the 30 Quinn comments in the backfield looking he's got time tries to throw it over the middle incomplete thrown some place is good so third down and 10 and now a defense looking to do something for the first time that neither defense is done yet tonight with 154 to go Tim Allen near side of the field Griffin in the side hunter Rison inside him Nosa at the far side of the field third down and 10 Quinn commits has time gonna go deep one more time and it's incomplete and the Falcon defense stiffens hits them right in the hands and goes through the hands and so now the Falcons feeling that little exhilaration by making a stop against this Hornet team first punt of the ball game and it comes 147 in the second the second quarter market it's one of those things that lucky Avenger high snap and over in kick at the 40 and that's as far as the Falcons are gonna get with 137 to go the Falcons will try to take the lead here in the first half it's the Hornets 21 the Falcons 19 here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net Dominic Vargas Elijah Mata on the interior Jordan rice and Bremen Willis on the outside for the Hornets up front and Hornets they look to be in a dime package with Tanner beam as the back or Jacob Jones and junior Wiley step up with a come up from their safety spots they're joined by steel farmer sera Smith and Jordan Wright Brandon Jones and near side of the field Tucker the far side of the field McMahon at quarterback they throw it over out there to see Jay parks parks catches it gets a gain of five on the play Cory Nealon likes to tell us that's an extended running play second down and five at the 45 McMahon brings them out clock is ticking Falcons have no more timeouts left McMahon hands it off to Odum Odum gets a game boy if they're gonna mark him anything it's just past the line of scrimmage it's gonna bring up a third down and four with a minute left and that brought down by Jordan rice ooh you got a foolish in high school rule we've done a lot of flirting games in the past and they've got a lot of foreign players coming up through the system Odom stays in the backfield they tighten up on the defensive line McMahon comes out there dance it off - Odom again Odom gets met at the line of scrimmage it's gonna bring up a fourth down inside the 50 with 35 seconds to go and if you're the Falcons why not go for it here kick Corinne Allen's gonna kick it away and so defenses finally stop both offenses in this two minute stretch stretch here on sports that you would say dot now we're down to 15 seconds and they don't have to kick the ball to second differential between the game and the play clock five they do kick it fake pot throwing up there and they throw a fake with two seconds to go and it's a nice looking play but they're not going to get in the end zone so the Falcons try to make a trick play but that's going to bring us to the end of the first half and as we come to the end of the first half and exciting offensive display it's the Hornets 21 the Falcons 19 here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net guys assessment of the first half before we go fun a lot of fun it's been back and forth mark when you look at it you look at these two offenses and it has just been a joy to be able to see both of them at running at so many cylinders but you look at these defenses and it's what you have you have talked about through the first five weeks of the season defense hasn't necessarily been there and that's what we've seen from both Fullerton and also a team like Ventura and also southwestern as well but when you look at this afternoon neither team has been able to cover well you know it's really more fun than that it's listening to you and Noah talked about the coaches show here at halftime on Sportsnet USA net you brought it up you said we heard it from you first didn't did he not we did there we go curry nailing just reassuring ray that no I'm gonna go Jason Bourne on everybody I'm grabbing everybody and jumping over you're taking us down the staircase no no first day's important we don't know the rally and that's exactly what fortune did to start this game they pulled a Jason Bourne on these Falcons a win a hundred and two yards for a touchdown so here we start the second half it's the Hornets 21 the Falcons 19 here on Sportsnet USA dotnet we'll see if the Falcons can return the favor to the Hornet deep kick it looks like Hardy's got it mark Hardy's got it two three goes towards the middle side steps one Hardy's gonna get taken down at the 25-yard line don't forget all our games here on sports that us a.net are brought to you by Miller Toyota vanaheim Euclid in the 91 Miller Toyota of Anaheim he's a proud sponsor of high school sports community college sports but most of all education that's Miller Toyota of Anaheim so sitala Ibarra Hernandez Logan and Alvarez up front for the Falcons well I thought you were giving me somebody's last name I was gonna say that's a mouthful isn't it first down a tenth for the Falcons straight run up the middle Odom gets across the 25 out to about the 27 conference time this is where the coaches would love to have that perfect record but if you don't do anything in conference don't look for a bowl game and don't look to go into the playoffs second down and six for the Falcons McMahon brings them back out a good first half no glorified numbers for him as a quarterback man looks things over it goes back fakes it over in the flat throws over in the flat up the field and they take what you give them offensively as a team well the linebackers are late for the Hornets Josiah Morel was kind of there but not there I'm sorry that was actually yeah that was his ire Moore who was late on the uptake and couldn't quite get out there to parks and hesitate and you can't hesitate against a quick a quick receiver out there Jacoby Hardy now in at running back for the Falcons McMahon out at quarterback CJ parks out far wide to the left in the near side of the field they hand it straight up the middle missed one tackle maybe - that's Hardy gets across the 40 they're gonna mark him down at the 41 so when you look at these teams quarry three running backs back there is really that one running back for this Falcon team yeah they're averaging close to five yard - carried in the first half second down in six for the Falcons at the 42 yard line parks the near side of the field short side of the field for CJ parks they run a sweep cut back taken down there is the linebacker finally make a play did you set that defense for the Hornets all together and that's the safety Jacob Jones who makes the stop he might be the team leader on defense a guy they really need to step up and really show the way for that young team alcázar the other safety Christensen the middle backer duckenfield on the near side more on the far side steal the near side cornerback in right there far side cornerback as Cameron Procter ran right by their running back could have had him for loss darker kusa far side of the field park sets up in the slot on the far side of the field mcmahon at quarterback third down and four here come the Hornets up the middle they get to Hunter and Hunter puts it on a dime Cory Neal and will always tell me if you're gonna get smacked make sure you make the pass yeah and Savion still jumped about just a little bit in hunter wind right by him for a good throw by McMahon right on the money if it's not there on time and if it's late still makes it makes the play from behind and Cerritos is that Cameron Proctor that is big man down so Proctor down one crevasse comes on the field and again Ryan you look at that they bring the Blitz it gets picked up on the play hunter knows he's gonna get whacked but what's he do he leaves the ball out there for only his person to catch you look at his left foot as well he drives into the past normally what you would see in a at the community college level is you would see a quarterback who tries to throw it off their back foot and lob it up there instead he drives forward and steps into the furrow so first out of 10 at the 17 for the Falcons McMahon looks things over it goes back he's had it all day parks out in the flat 10th it cuts back in the middle makes one miss him refuses to go down gets across a ten all the way down to the nine man he got been funny for you make the defenders a Miss on him cards nice job getting to the sideline gain of seven on the play third down and three at the 10 is where they market so the Falcons once again are marching down the field a little more spectacular than methodical when you see the plays they're calling out here McMahon brings them out once again the receivers have good hands for this team he'll throw two maybe ten different players in a game as a quarterback tight formation for the Falcons running play around block mate cut back in at tackle across the five down to the four and so that's Rapada who makes that play so we're down at the five and it'll be first and goal they're gonna mark it at the four looks like it's Josh charango slow to get up two for the Hornets not a good sign for the defensive line and he had a stinger two weeks ago and now he's walking off with the limp so you got probably the best interior lineman in the nation that's Procter and Entering go off to the side that'll bring in Mott and Vargas first and goal for the Falcons right at the 4 yard line and it's an easy touchdown off tackle for the Falcons as they went through the defense like a knife through hot butter for my one cliche of the game okay my fourth cliche they say you can't just eat one maybe myself I'm sort of like well I'm going through with my cliches like the offense is going through the defense yeah you put out a whole bag of tricks mark and they off tackle is a simple play you talked about a team that you like running the student body ride running the student body left and that's just what Cerritos did I mean this is a more dynamic offense than we saw from last the last couple years for for Cerritos well you realize the Hornets of beating Cerritos the last three times in a row they go for two McMahon throws over ball gets tip taken out of the air and it was intercepted marked by Joe Kristensen so it was tipped up the line of scrimmage and then intercepted now the way I understand this statistically though that does not go down as an interception it does not if he had run it back it would have counted as two for Fullerton but it doesn't count to the individual statistics let me go to scoring let me go to mr. 30 30 seconds because that's what we're gonna hold him to now instead of 30 minutes Ryan you sit there with this disgusted look on your face I know you've been around the Hornet family for a while but I'm watching you cedar and I can see you give me the Bryant crooks look as you sit up here in the booth well it's a matter of watching some coverages break down too easily so what we've seen before from Brian crooks defenses he's always been innovative and he still is it's just a matter of whether or not these coverages can keep up with the Cerritos offense yes they've been able to be elusive in this game but there's also a lot of secondary and linebacking coverages that have been blown this afternoon Williams is gonna back up to the one Williams at the one looks at middle of the field goes up the middle of the field gets across the 25 to the 27 so the Falcons touched the ball and said well what the heck no one mark said this score was going to be about 96 points at the end of the night let's go to the board delete now it's the Hornets turn to answer the Falcons on the field and I want to add something to what Ryan was saying earlier to I was talking with coach Phil Austin and he said interceptions is not a stat that his defensive back look for but when you look at the turnovers as a whole from last year's team how many times did we see the Hornets make key takeaways and games that really put their opponents away in those competitions this year we just haven't seen those same amount of turnovers forced first down of tenant 225 Brandon Rankin's in it running back Quinn comments has time to throw throws it out in the flat comments who goes away from the pressure Corinne we see it once again where Spencer Owens finds a little soft spot and makes a catch as a tight end that's Heidi and well and that's how you see them over the up the seams what a good job of Quinn calm calm is a staying focused and let's see if they can get the ground game going to get something to mix it up and so Cerritos is not waiting back in pass protector excuse me pass coverage no sip comes in the near side of the field when her ricin goes the far side of the field second down and two for Quinn common Quinn fakes it goes down after a gain of maybe a yard on the play it's gonna bring up a third down and they're gonna mark him down with a yard loss on that so with 10 15 to go at the start of the third quarter a very important third down for this Hornet offense comes to this team Shipton on the stop comment slips the Falcons come up back out go back in their normal coverage go to man-to-man back up Rison Griffin Tim Allen far side of the field they come on the corner now Quinn's looking clock is ticking we're down to three play clock is it to Quinn goes over throws out in the flat taken right there up to the 40 ball comes out but it would be a first down for the Hornets as Brandon Rankin loses the ball but first down where they're gonna mark it at and they're gonna ask for the Falcons to back up just a little on what they considered a big hit and the Falcons have the first lead on fullerton ford they're really running after the ball and really aggressive on that sideline we saw two weeks ago with the tour in southwestern as well first down in ten just short as the 14th Quinn goes back has time has time steps down throws it out in the flat again for Rankin's Branden Rankin's holds on to it this time after a gain of six on the play and you can see where a run game would really benefit Fullerton right now because the defensive Cerritos is very very aggressive and they're just flying to the ball flying to the quarterback not really caring what happens because they're so confident right now that they're doing the right thing that they're not thinking and that's a good thing I should say no so Ben Taylor on the near side of the field ranked and still back there he hands it straight up to Brandon Rankin's he sidesteps one stays on his feet and Cory Nayland somebody heard you've given the signal from up here in the booth as they give it to Brandon Rankin's a little sidestep line of scrimmage finds an opening and they get another first down on the play yeah Logan Applewhite dolphin Shipton boy by lily clamped in Ballard Peterson miner king and Okeke back to Brandon Rankin's coming out in a wheel route so it's been running back running back running back running back being a pass or a run what it does is they're taking what they're giving if they're giving you Brandon Rankin's each time well Brandon raking against the ball each and every time until they stop first down in ten across the 30 Quinn brings him out quickly they fake it to Brandon Rankin's Brandon has time Quinn's got somebody in the middle of field throws that they're nice digger they're gonna call it incomplete now they're gonna call this one incomplete and I thought Dawson was at no sit for Williams that was Williams who came up look like he got his hands underneath it but hey we're up here and the officials are down there second down and 10 right at the 29 Tim Allen to the near side of the field Deshawn Griffin inside of him on the near side field second down and 10 at the 29 Quinn comments throws it up touchdown Fullerton that is no civ his fifth touchdown of the season and great job by Brandon Rankin to pick up the blitzing backer coming through allowed commas to make the perfect throw Corey that was the quarterbacks equivalent of a step-back jumper you look at Quinn comments he steps to his left and then brings his right foot back and sidearms it forward in doing that he creates a little bit more space to get through the throw and that's why Quinn Commons is one of his a top ten quarterback in the SCF a that throw right there is why he's a top ten player at the quarterback position the ball gets blocked so another field Gold is blocked as the Hornets try for the extra point that was a spike mark and side out cerritos sailor place on our team did you guys hear the block yeah I did I mean that was one of those things where right into the chest plate yeah so with 758 to go it's the Hornets 27 the Falcons 25 here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net now I'm gonna drag Corey Nealon back here for a second because of what he said you actually do believe Quinn comment says one of the better quarterbacks in the conference playing here for Fullerton in the SCF a yeah I really think he is one of the better quarterbacks I mean he's one of those guys if if he gets his full confidence I think he's the best quarterback in Southern California so we'll see if the Falcons now can answer they've done it all along with 758 to go at the beginning here in the second half it's the Hornets 27 the Falcons 25 squib kick across the middle ball goes down finally somebody gets on it at the 40 could have been disaster for the Falcons so the Falcons start without rageous field position as they touch the ball again only trailing by 2 in this game and it looks like it's another one guys we've seen it in the last three close close but no cigar for a victory I think this is different though guys from the last two games that we've seen because Fullerton is not down they don't have to come back they're right there and I think this builds their confidence for having a better finish at the end of this game Hardy on the near side of the field parks on the far side of the field first down at 10 at the 44 McMahon McMahon goes back has time to throw goes downs inside the field it's out of bounds and they're throwing a flag they're gonna throw call pass interference against the Hornet and I'm sorry the receiver ran on his own accord out of bounds therefore I'm sorry that's a horrible call by the official line to tap the call they're saying Savion pushed hardy out of bounds corey earlier you were talking about the cerritos offense and how dynamic they've been do you think that this is the most dynamic they've been since Jimmie Walker was here in 15 I think since Cain Wilson was here it's been it's been that long I know Jimmie Walker was a good quarterback I don't think they were or at this this eficient we've only seen a play one time first down a 10th at the 45 after the penalty McMahon throws it over the flat missed tackle missed tackle and a missed tackle gets up to the 40 so the tackling has not been sharp defensively when you look at the Hornets fits in this game and if you give somebody who catches a ball or runs with a ball an extra opportunity you're going to give up an extra one or two yards each play now Cassell how Casals are how coaster was there the former Highlander just needed to wrap up came hi and it cost him up two yards on it at two yards extra second down and six at the 40 defense trying to bring pressure hasn't been able to get there we've seen in the past ball goes down in the ground defenses there can't make the sack as they turn a broken play and almost into a first down great play by Jalen Manny and I mean he guys you fumble the ball at the 50 you run back to the 45 and then you pick up I don't know 22 yard you pick up 8 yards on a 22 yard run it's like eating dinner off a broken plates doesn't look pretty but the meal tasted good picks up a four yard game so third down and one at the 35 640 to go here in the third quarter the down for alignment for the Hornets trying to make at least one stop straight dime hit at the line of scrimmage it should be fourth down there should have been no movement and I gotta tell you something I'm watching the Nearline judge I'm not sure what he's watching judge had him short of the line the near line judge has him at the line same thing they're good looking had eight men in the box wasn't gonna let anything come up the middle fourth down and one and once again the Falcons who have decided I think collectively have decided we're not going to punt the ball tonight unless we it's a must goes for it on fourth down and one at the 35 McMahon hands it off round corner cuts it in first down about and what's happening is the guards are pulling out with the tackle on that right side whenever they're running they're getting such good push on the out side and getting to their spots that Fullerton has to come an extra way Fullerton is hesitating just a little bit and not reacting as well as a we've seen them react in the past to get up the field to make stops well I thought that was Ron I was born walking out of the booth right then no Alvarez leaves us for a second Tucker comes in the near side of the field parks in the slot next to them in the air side of the field McMahon at quarterback first down at 10 at the 27 McMahon rolls away from the pressure feels it coming tries to throw the same pass Quinn coming through it didn't happen we get a flag at the end of the play and they're gonna call roughing the passer and you can see the flag coming you can see the call being made and Fullerton that's a frustration penalty there I really think he only took one step and hit the quarterback for us that's a play on but nowadays that's gonna be a penalty every single time and the officials the head referee calls a play because hit the head coach for Cerritos one at that call now Cerritos on the season they averaging for 347 yards of offensive game they're gonna exceed that tonight 1st down and 10 right at the 13 McMahon brings him up ends it off right side almost a break-in and so they have run off tackle all night long and every time they do they get a gain of 5 6 or 7 you know age again Washington have this guy named John Riggins play and the Eastman running behind these guys caught the Hogs and they used to pull the guards Denver used to do it as well two teams I don't like but they pull the guards out and they run a trap play and that's all they're doing you know who also used to do that the 2016 Fullerton College Hornets their guards would pull all the time to get Jordan hoist in space 2nd down and a half a yard Hornets come all out blitz for town will be made down so it'll be first to go 2-2 with 417 to go here in the third quarter it's a struggle you know what's funny about this about the fullerton defense is we haven't seen them seen them sell out i mean sell out and play with that reckless abandon that we've seen in the past or a little bit timid out there and so I think Cerritos is really feeling that timidness timidness timotheus to maturity timidity timidity non altima tivity you know Tim the guy who we saw last week know they're really exploiting them and the Hornet said I don't care what the humidity is like they make a stop in the next defensive play and that was Vallely the starting linebacker sometimes he gets in there at fullback and Vallely mark 511 290 pounds it's Cory Nealon no he's got a hop stuff oh okay second and goal tight formation for the Falcons McMahon right underneath Center hand it off touchdown Falcons [Music] so the Falcons get in the end zone a lot of grit gut and tenacity buy them maybe a little help by the guy that throws a yellow hankie but it doesn't really matter because what does matter is the Falcons once again take the lead with 302 to go here in the third quarter it's now the Falcons 31 the Hornets 27 here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net the Falcons going for two trying to make this a six-point football game on the way the extra points have been going everybody should go 4-2 McMahon brings them out Tucker in the slot on the right hand side McMann under Center McMahon drops the football McMahon is met in the backfield ball comes out Hornets stop them on the two-point so it's a four-point lead with 302 to go it's the Falcons 31 the Hornets 27 here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net normally we get done really fast at the end at the end of the game so I'm gonna do this now I want to thank John van Gaston for always be a wonderful host when we come to Cerritos College Ryan knows John really well I know John as well as Cory does because we've been around John for almost ever he looks younger every year and we get older John Bane Gaston is one of the nicest SIDS you will ever meet on a collegiate level and again John thank you for all the kindness you've shown us and sports that u.s. a.net back deep is gonna be Griffin and Graham and they're gonna stagger now ever since Griffin ran that 102 yard sprint at the very first play of the game they've been avoiding them so now they're gonna make him decide who's going to get that ball and is this where you squib kick it I do yeah iiiii hit a little shot right in the middle of the field and hopefully have somebody that can outrun anybody to the ball they kick a line drive that's gonna go over and gonna go out-of-bounds at the 11 yard line so we've got the Hornet braintrust to our left can take a look at them nobody is sitting in there with a smile on their face with 302 to go here in the third quarter well to be fair mark we've seen them without smiles on their faces in blowouts that they have won it's that's just the way that that box works and Gregory Shelton is now the far side corner for the Falcons and the near side is Darren Smith sorry Marcus and Christian Prakash is now in at quarterback for the Hornets so far Kosh comes in at quarterback first one there runs a pitch play taken there by Graham grant gets a gain of about three on the play and I like that plate it's just an old army play I think that's the first time we've seen that play all year know yeah so no subdue the near side of the field in the slot over here is going to be Tim Allen and Griffin Prakash a quarterback Afonso Graham the running back second down and seven at the 38 they put Graham in motion Graham wheels out they threw it over here looking for a block one block missed but a rough run across the 40 and put the shoulder down and make the hit and that's exactly what you do if you're Kishan Griffin so it's gonna bring up a third down in to cross the 40 at about the 44 Griffin goes in the slot at the far side of the field under rising now in the game Tim Ellen the far wide receiver know something near side of the field afonso grandma running back third down into gosh still at quarterback they run straight up the middle Bonzo across first down almost to the 50 and this is what Corey Nealon would like to see guys a methodical running attack by the Hornets you know I think if he can gain that methodical miss in this drive he even if you don't score even if you have a good driving he proved he can run the ball that'll go a long way for to the end of the game for the Hornets gosh comes in goes back here comes the pressure and step up and run finds the middle of field throws a right there the nose up across the 40 down to the 38 we're at 134 to go it's the Falcons 31 the Hornets 27 here on Sportsnet USA net so he steps up to the pocket Tim Allen now comes the near side of the field Griffin in the slot next to him they balance out the receiver attack two on each side hunter rising to the far side of the field bump and run is what the Falcons look like they want to play Prakash can step up and run it decides not to because he's got he's running back Afonso grabbed touchdown Hornet and Corey Neal and I won't throw it to you cuz Corey Neal it's got a big grin on his face because Corey what have you been saying all year long about these running backs and the passing attack use them that that's that's all we've been saying it is used to running backs Alfonso Graham Brandon Reagan's and lucky avenger' and they've shown in spurts and glimpses that they can carry the load so if you get them the ball whether the run as they had a couple nice runs on the drive and a pass your out of the backfield they'll make good things happen with 104 to go the Hornets retake the lead of this game well spot the ball ten last time they had the extra point blocked Falkon strengtheneth ball is down kick is up and the kick is good with 104 to go the seesaw is going a million miles an hour first it's the Hornets then it's the Falcon said it's the Hornets said it's the Falcon said it's the Hornets said it's the Falcons then it's the Falcons then it's the Hornets here on sports that u.s. a.net that's the game in a nutshell in about 35 seconds alternate also known as Marx mixtape as well that's right well you know I am one of the top MCS in the area so you know Corrine Allen's got me as a number one here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net I'm gonna go to you mister 30 minutes Ryan Osborne oh go ahead you can take away from now go to no Alvarez no no I was gonna add because rokosz also had a really good game last week well the last time the Hornets played because last week they had the bye week so two weeks ago against Ventura College pho Kosh had a really nice game led the Hornets on a touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter that tied things back up so fro cause Calais and Commons all playing really well together at this midway point of the season something that we didn't see early on so the Hornets with 104 to go we take the lead in this game as the defense might say well maybe I'm not playing well but maybe it's the offense starting to pick it up at the right time of the year for both these teams ball goes into the end zone it'll be a touchback taken out to the 25 so with 104 to go it's the Falcons down by three it's the Hornets 34 the Falcons 31 on sports a you would say net Proctor not back in the ball game for the Hornets on defense but your angle is so charango Velasquez are the interior McDonald and Dorsey on the outside being moral and duckenfield of the backers farmer Whitfield Wiley & Smith is the secondary quick update from La Valle it's 38 to nothing Chaffey as they head to the fourth quarter man comes out here comes the pressure throws against the pressure and there the ball comes out and you're going to get a flag for going low on a tackle after the play and ok Ryan Osborne imma let you answer this I see you standing there Cory kneeling grabbed his head Noah Alvarez has got his hands behind it said there's a flag for going low on the tackle but he was going after the ball at the exact same time as well I don't see how the officials don't give him the opportunity to go after the football not to mention how late they throw that flag it's simply an unfortunate play because he went low he was going there and it's just accidental that the ball was thrown low and both of the guys went for the ball at the same time it wasn't anything that was going for the head it was going for the tackle low the fender got low is what you're supposed to do offense went down just an unfortunate play so they moved the ball out to the 40 history mark thank you sir McMahon brings it out once again going to go deep going down deep incomplete pass and so as they looked Tucker turned around and said wait a minute coming towards me the ball was overthrown so it's gonna bring up a second down in ten at the 40 that looked like me on the golf course from 20 feet away from the hole not knowing where it's going yeah and overshooting it so McMahon trying to find the home run second down and 10 unfortunately we don't have stats for this game John been gassed and problems with this printer I think a young guy should go down there and look over John shoulder McMahon comes back out the Hornets sneak up this time they're bringing a little pressure on McMahon once again McMahon tries to go over in the middle of the Tucker and now you talk about that boldness Cory kneeling the defensive backs are trying to be a little bolder on their coverage against these Falcon receiver because you have to I mean it takes a while sometimes for it to click in and it looks like it's going to click in now for the Hornets that we're gonna have to be very very aggressive and good things happen you talked about interceptions not a big key staff for the Hornet secondary last three years they were talking about interceptions leading this state in the country yeah that's a big stat fall third down and 10 at the 40 they fake it McMahon ask pressure after him McMahon piasa middle side up field time right there at the 30 at the 20 McMahon touchdown Falcon what a play what a play for the Falcons they are soaring high CJ parks and TJ McMahon might not be the tallest guy out there mark but the way duckenfield came in for the horn is it was a sack McMahon rolls out to the right side and all he does is lay a strike on the crossing pattern of Pat parks and the rest downfield block six points falcons looking good so with 37 seconds to go the falcons score once again and McMahon has been impressive as this young quarterback for the spoken team just found away ball is spotted kick is up and the kick is good with 37 seconds to go it's the Falcons 38 the Hornets 34 on sports a us a.net going back to that play McMahon if you will was seductive on that play and meaning the seduction came where he's just sitting there a lonely guy in the backfield just waiting to be sacked but he pirouettes and comes out there and finds his receiver coming across the middle making that connection for six so the Hornets trailing once again when it looked like they might be able to find an antidote to what they're drinking tonight here on the field it's Halloween the apples been offered they've taken a bite hopefully it's not poison and after this kick mark will get some statue of Noah it was rising in the griffon her bag deep Griffin takes it at the two that's the outside finds an opening gets a block turns a corner stays on his feet flag flag flag against the Hornets and everybody on the cerritos sideline is tough even the water people got in a hit down there and good downfield coverage by cerritos they filled the lane this time came up and stretched the play didn't allow for Griffin more three things that I want to highlight that the Hornets have been much better on today then they have all season third down efficiency five of six on the evening today Fullerton is only four penalties which is equated to 49 yards and that third thing actually wasn't a good thing but Cerritos is losing the possession or excuse me Fullerton is losing the possession battle 30 minutes to 13 minutes they've only the possess the ball 13 minutes of this game you're trying to tell me the Hornets of layout for penalties for 49 yards yes sir that is correct 15:22 passing 215 yards 318 yards passing for TJ mcmahon mark 22 of 27 that ain't bad let's see I saw two personal fouls three holding calls 122 yards my math is a little off I guess Quinn Cummings let's the back come out releases Fonzo Graham goes back hits a middle of the field that should take us down at the end of this third quarter which has been an interesting third quarter to say the least Quinn comments is gonna let the clock run out and as we come to the end of the third quarter well maybe he doesn't and he does which is what I thought he would do but it looked like Quinn was gonna go as we come to the end of the third quarter it's the Falcons 38 the Hornets 34 here on Sportsnet u.s. a.net I will give it to you Ryan though that this is the best Cerritos Fullerton game since the Jimmy Walker game when that was 2016 or 15 2015 Marcus Kirkpatrick with the interception to seal it right and if you own a car from 2015 well it's time to change it out there's no better place to do that then Miller Toyota vanaheim that's right you found that ticket from that game went hey you by the way I need to get rid of that car we'll take it on down you'll get the best buy the best trade in and the best offer that you'll get in Southern California at Euclid and the 91 so if you're looking for a new or used car or maybe you just need to get your car cleaned up a little there's no better place to go than Miller Toyota of Anaheim Miller so yota vanaheim located Euclid and the 91 is a proud sponsor of community college sports high school sports but most of all education guys there is a tutorial going on across the way with the head official by our coaches that our receiver coach Phil Austin came out Bryan crooks came out and our head coach all talked to him and said excuse me I know you did this at the Saddleback game but it's time to change your tune here on sports that u.s. a.net they need to tell and that's why they're over now somebody may say why are they at the Cerritos bench they have to go over and explain the conversation they have with an opposing coach so that if their attitude or their look at something may change they need to say to the opposing team hey this is what was discussed this was mentioned to us you know this is a thing we need to watch for I think part of it had to do to on that last touchdown half the Cerritos bench went down to the end zone that's an automatic 15 yards because they were warned already to stay in the box I think this goes back to Fullerton being so dominant to the last few years and really with the target on their back is painted as a villain out on the field that they get up for fortune and when good things happen first town in 10th Hornets give it straight off the left tackle we're going to get a flag again still Hornet for holding and but I had toga toga foul excuse me was being held up front I don't think that was ovis it looks like it was neighbor mirrors with the whole she isn't amazing you're gonna talk to the officials and then next thing that happens they throw a flag on you coincidence mark just a coincidence you know that's what snidely whiplash used to say Oh get you now it was always a good Whitsett it's that Dudley do-right caught him Coenen coincidence Corey yes I think not two points for mr. thirty minutes first down in 20 from the 15 for the Hornets Quinn Commons goes back needs to get some protection Quinn throws it in the middle of field throws it to where no one was he had two receivers out there the defenders were a little confused if they should cover Tim Allen Tim Allen's broke off his route and so Quinn overthrows him I think both receivers broke off their route I mean Kashan I think Quinn thought Kishan was going up and doing a seam route and Kishan thought he was going up and doing a stop right at the first down marker Tim Allen near side of the field Deshawn in the slot next to him hunter rising inside him second down and 20 Quinn has time holds the ball and gets sacked had no chance and I think that was Logan Applewhite one more time was it clap yeah was Logan Applewhite who came around from his defensive in position and just laid it to Commons Applewhite that's sacked seven and a half on the season market he's one of those guys who was looking to be an all-conference performer for for the Falcons he's got a Cathedral Prep high school in LA so a third down and 25 at the five normally where we see a run play by the Hornets they throw it over to Hunter Eisen who drops the ball it's gonna bring up by fourth down and five and now the Falcons are feeling that victory within their grasp early here in the fourth quarter yeah 3834 they have to be lookin hasn't been able to stop them so if you get a score here it's gonna go a long way they're trying to get the first victory for the Falcons against Fullerton and what do you say mark Ryan for years it'd be four years yeah yeah they've won the last three in a row so the Falcons sneak up to the 40 Hornet to need some sort of break haven't found it in this game and over in ball's gonna hit the turf takes a hornet bounce they're gonna let it roll it goes across the 50 and down at the 45 we're at 1331 to go and well if you look to my left it couldn't be trick-or-treat because nobody's happy and if you looked at my left they're probably hoping Christmas or winter break comes true here on sports it you would say that they did get a 51 yard kick their mark so that is something positive but I think I think mark they're looking more at Thanksgiving they want a cornucopia of points to finish off this one first an intent for the Falcons who have been prolific on offense tonight they've got 38 with 13 31 ago McMahon comes in it's being able to throw the difficult pass they threw it out in the flat McMahon gets it out there a little turn gain of three on the play Cameron Proctor back in the ballgame makes the stop quick guy out there quick and agile and the offensive line for Cerritos they've come in the ball game the last two games they haven't performed as well as the first three games that they've won but right now Noah Clausen is out there at the right tackle position and Brandon Logan Brandon Logan has had a great game thus far second down and eight just across the 45 McMahon brings him out looking they go bump and run Hornets come up here comes the Blitz McMahon's been able to find somebody going down deep going down deep throw in there caught at the 11 and Tucker pulls that in for a big first down it was a great catch by Jovan tucker great coverage by David farmer but it looked to me that he was out of bounds on that catch they called it in bouncing you're gonna say what a wonderful catch it didn't seem like to us up here like he had full possession until he actually stepped out nonetheless Falcons it's going position again inside the 20 that red zones been a happy place for him McMahon comes out the big play again when he's needed it the difference in this game may be quarterback position the Hornets are getting throttled on the air ball by a very excellent quarterback this night and he's close to 400 yards passing so the way things are going he's gonna get over 400 yards in this game and that's the most passing yards again so Fullerton defense in a long long time second down and eight 12 minutes to go second down and eight I'm irritated over here McMahon we're gonna run it again miss tackle and a missed tackle they have him in the backfield and can't make the tag I'll counter with no better run by Carl Oldham right there as he comes up to the line of scrimmage and he bounces off that's just good keeping your feet moving I disagree this is bad tackling has plagued the Hornets defense all season long I think that was another one right there so it's first and goal the Falcons once again refusing to punt the ball refusing to give the ball away McMahon brings it back up big goal line stand for the Hornets they hand it to Odom Odom ghost to the endzone like we go oh I was a note about their Oh a potty I thought Odom was out there so Rapada goes well it doesn't matter it could be Odom it could be Rabbani it could be Cory nail and it could be Ryan Osborne they waltz into the end zone I think both players now over 60 yards that's four touchdowns before a party all four for a potty though go for two should be a false start so false start against the Falcons and there's there's 44 points so running back with a running game for the Falcons 71 yards before that run for riccati 46 for Oldham so 46 so now he's got about 60 yards doing a great job on the ground CJ parks 10 receptions 134 yards mark ball a spot it kick is up and the kick is good so the Hornets now trailed by 11:45 234 with 11 minutes to go here on Sportsnet us dotnet well some of us said it was going to be 38 30 some of us said it was going to be 38 or more some of us thought it was a low-scoring game I don't know partner we might have been right in between us the young of the old sort of mesh together to take out middle-age it's almost like normal day Society here on sports that you've done it if you ever see anybody Leo Ryan Osborn he looks like he had the wrong meal dropped off in front of him and he just refuses to eat there's nothing worse than cheesecake you'll make him happy it's okay Ritchie it's okay Griffon decides to take it at the end some himself's got to find something looks for something in the middle can't get to a block or gets taken down at the 19 good coverage de set on the stop along with Manning and I think if you're the Hornets offense I think what you need here is Krishan fro cosh he looked terrific earlier in his appearance he actually went five for six for over 30 yards I think you need a sustained Drive I think you need seven plays to go down the field to get your confidence back and get in the end zone that's what you need if you're the Hornets doesn't matter who does it how you do it Quinn comments comes out at quarterback Brandon Rankin is the running back no sit to the near side of the field Quinn goes back throws Lindley lay across mill hunter rice and needs a block he gets the first block hunter rice inside steps it goes out of bounds at the 45 and here we get at this nothing by the officials but the defensive back followed hunter rice and after he caught it nothing there Wow but if you're going to call the low bridge on the other side of the field Corey nail is trying to calm down a noble guy across the middle of Hill taken their Nosa turns on it a quick catch out at the 35 you know we thought we're seeing Commons right now here for the offense of Fullerton College you haven't seen Cooper Cuyler since he led the Hornets down on a touchdown back in the first half for Sanatana at the 35 for commons we're going to get timeout and so timeout but the Hornets need to answer the challenge that was thrown out that I'm with you too Cory you need to make a drive either be it a quick one or a five-minute sustained one you need to come away with six points touching the ball this time you can't get any further behind because the defense for whatever reason hasn't found an answer to take on a young man let's give him credit the quarterback for the Falcons has just had a hot hand yeah we didn't help by that defense and that defense has no one Lopez out on the field for them along with Nate Walker Noah Peterson Oh Mario Kiki Cameron miner Anthony Shipton up front along with Elijah dolphin Logan Applewhite he's had two sacks in the game and Malik skipper and a couple more guys out there doing good things for the Falcons Tim Allen far side of the field no sift in the near side of the field here comes the pressure Quinn comments home sit down himself takes off running gets across the 30 they're gonna mark him down at the 20 16 of 9 on the play second down and 1 hurry up offense for the Hornets Brandon Rankin's in it running back Rankin gets up there quickly second down and 2 Quinn comments comes out has time to throw looks the middle of field throws it up for no civ notes of fighting with the defender good defense by the Falcons yes it was Billy that was Noah Lopez on the on the defense at one corner knows offense has good hands out there Spencer Owens I'm sorry Spencer Owens comes into the game Lorenzo can jump to the near side of the field third and one for Quinn Commons Quinn goes back and throws it into the ground incomplete pass that brings up a fourth down and one it'll be an interesting call here because historically with under Garrett County you're gonna see a run up the middle on this fourth in short we'll see what he has in store dye see if that offensive line puts you in work fourth and one taken down loss on the play and they turn it over offensively and that was the doubt and that's the historical call from Fuller's in the last few years if you're going to run up the middle with the fourth down in one and against an aggressive confident defense that the Falcons that the Falcons have that call you wanted a little bit more flavor to it a little bit more on the outside maybe that you're working with comments it's a good mobile quarterback get him working and put a tight in out there to work with him on that far side of the field and see what happens run or pass up the middle was going nowhere so the Falcons make a big stop when 950 to go an 11-point lead here on sports at USA dinette and now you look for the kill shot if you're out there they run a sweep way up a block and the back should be there's two flags on a definite hold yeah it's gonna be a hole Brandon Jones held is you tackle the defensive back coming up on that and so the Falcons were filling in mark they were feeling you let's go out here and step on their neck and take this game on that plate there but again it's coming back because of a hold and Fullerton here's a historical being for foolish in on when they're down nor with a Peter to play the last few years their defensive cut has come up with a big play this year not so much let's see if it starts here and if they lose this game this would be the first conference loss in three years yeah three years 2016 against Saddleback so they move it back from the spot of the foul it's gonna make it a first down about 18 for the Falcons looking for some sort of big play from the defense weak band rules out there's another hole no flag first down when I see a jersey stretch Cory Nealon don't tell me they're allowing them just to play football on the field and the white hat was right there and never threw a flag I know you told me to calm down and officials but you know my feeling about officials so far this year in football on all levels that's a discussion for dinner first down at 10th for the Falcons they run it straight off the left side taken down flag on the play gearing on the stop hardy on the run and the umpire threw the flag so you know what's coming back but the clock is now working against the Hornets with 854 to go I'll take 10 yards 15 yards move me back five I'll take six move me back three and eight minutes will come off the clock I will not have time to lose the game smart play by the Falcons with basically nine minutes to go in this game and they are up by 11 it's worth noting to the Hornets have only forced the Falcons to punt once in this game first down and 20 for the Falcons last time this they found a play runoff gain of seven on that play they crossed the 45 out to the 46 makes it it second down they're gonna make it about 16 right at the 46 yard lines minutes to go Marty brought down by Breeland Willis fuller to the second politicans defense looks a little bit sluggish a little bit unsure themselves that confidence that swagger is not there and you see for Cerritos walking up to the line you can see that upright position walking like we don't do some things we don't care if it's second and 15 Decker near side of the field parks the far side of the field McMahon straight back they run the sweep out on the outside again Hornets going to miss a tackle flag comes out again that'll go on Jason sitala so back them up again take two down back them up Hornets are going to take the down and it'll bring up third down and the reason they don't is because you're battling the clock now you got 7:45 to go you need two touchdowns you're down by 11 don't tell me you need touchdown back them up and make a play to add on to what you were saying earlier Corey Cerritos is 7 of 13 on third down however they're 5 of 5 on fourth down so yes that full it's a defense looking very winded third down and 16 for the Falcons at the 45 ball goes down McMahon throws over the flat taken down right there so it'll be mark down and CJ parks gets up doesn't like the way he was taken out of balance the Hornets got to find a way not to get a penalty flag Corey even if it's close by either way would be devastating to take a flag at this stage of the game and the ball was tipped at the line of scrimmage Jacob Jones was there if the ball is not tempting had a chance to be interception on intercepted on that out so hunter rising back deep looking to make a play for the Hornets 6:45 to go you're trailing by 11 you need some way to get in the end zone quickly off the side of the foot shanked out of bounds it goes out at the 35 it needs to be marked that's where it landed it landed four yards out of bounds at the 35 should be about at least the 40 yard line of the Hornets not the 35 but it's a bad spot that's not accurate they went to my school to math and County so first down in 10 at the 35 for the Hornets the Hornets need to make a big play with six thirty two to go here comes a pressure Cooper Calais throws it up Tim Allen trips going down the field incomplete pass so Cooper Calais now in the game for the quarterback Cooper Tala see he had a good run touchdown run in the first half it was 25 it was 25 yards on the run that time we tried to find Tim Allen who's a team's leading receiver couldn't quite get their miscommunications on a round and throw Calais comes back second down and 10 at the 35 looking for a little magic Calais keeps it himself goes up the middle gets flattened and they get stepped on it's a dental contact on that I'm sitting with the stop mark good tackle by the guy Victor clapping excuse me okay guys quick vote do you go forward if you don't make it here absolutely okay 100% six minutes to go here comes the pressure Calais runs away from it throws over there it's got to make it to the sticks stay on your feet first down Hornets create if running after the ball is thrown to Hunter risin so good job moving down the field you want if he if you score for 40 you want to score with about three minutes left to go in the game Cooper Calais going deep all by yourself you mean touchdown Hornets on horizon hunter risin touchdown Horner and you see the play that was a play that was set up in the first quarter when we saw them on that quick out and they faked that out in go deep to Fullerton Hornet excuse me the Falcon defense was so aggressive they were gonna fight on it honor rising all alone now you don't have to do an onside kick so the Hornets now come out looks like they will go for two trailing by five gotta go for two to make it a three-point game see you know math that's nice too from five it's three that's nice Courtney let's got that down Hornets quickly come out we're going to get a time out by the Hornets burned here takes them down to two timeouts and right there you saw a lot of the confusion by the Fulton offense a lot of the players had to be pulled from their position on the bench because they were unprepared wasn't maybe communicated clearly on the side that they were going for - I think you're right no it's one of those things where every second counts in the ballgame when you're down by double digits and you're trying to get back into the ball game I know when you were playing your coach is always stressed be prepared to know the situation if you don't know the situation that can cost you a game and that timeout is huge I'm even ridden feud you didn't have to use any timeouts on that drive you scored quicker than you need it to and now you use a timeout that could be big so you look at the Hornets they've scored 59 33 and 48 in their last three games are on the verge here of being over 40 once again going for two Kalas at quarterback goes back looks has time has time throws in the flat should have been picked off and if it's picked off could have been run back for a two-point conversion yeah we're looking for Spencer Owens in the corner in put enough air on me that should have been Vic wasn't people Hornets gotcha break but you also like the round thing Kalin no Savchuk he ends up going right to the tee in Cerritos turns around and is wide open underneath the goal post that was one of those plays where you have one one play one target throw it to that target that's it there's a nice job though by Applewhite to create the pressure and Calais was uncomfortable making that throw but we've seen McMahon guys let's when you say stuff like that to me that's a moot point tonight McMahon has made throws with people coming after him and they've been on the dime he says that's where you just go wow if you're gonna be a quarterback your quarry is set up more than once in the 18 years 19 years we've done this together you're gonna get hit you better make a big play because it's gonna hurt no matter what so why don't you get up and see your team do something and so there's the difference even if the pressures coming there are some quarterbacks that'll take the pressure and make the plays deep kick looks like Jones Jones it to five looks for the middle has an opening gets taken down at the thirty Jones sought one more step and kiss me goodbye it's an airplane to San Jose and that's Jacob Jones a touchdown saving tackle and with 5:30 to play in the game it's interesting it ain't over yet so Fullerton comes back new on the interior they've got salmon pal standing next to Troy McDonald and Dominique Argos along with Jamal dorsey's CJ parks goes to the far side of the field it's at a good night Jacoby Hardy the running back for the Falcons McMahon who's looked spectacular for Cerritos at quarterback first out of 10 they come off the quarter McMahon gets taken down and that's the first time we have seen a corner blitz all night long and you know what that's the first time you needed a corner blitz all night long and that Savion steal though does it that's his third sack of the season make it his second sack actually he's got three official stats are wrong I'm right all around great defensive back yes [Music] third down and six Tucker comes to the near side of the field parks in the slot once again the Hornets sold out last time they're coming again they're gonna run around the corner trying to make a tackle they do just across the 30 they're gonna mark him at the 32 almost back at the original line of scrimmage but the ever-present third down with 10th I thought he went out of bounds and the talk stops he did the referees did mark the signal to stop but you whine the clock you stop it - you set it and then you wind the clock that's new I keep forgiving that you only stop it in the last two minutes if that happens big third down play defense looking to do something they're coming up the middle McMahon says here he come McMahon throws it up take it the Hornets make us stop and if you were Cerritos do you gamble no Ryan Osborne says wait a minute I saw this up north I saw a team that could have won a state championship if they gambled and the big man that tied in makes a great catch Jeremy hey what makes the catch he's up and coming off the field good tackle by Jacob Jones you know what Ryan Osborne I'm with you I win it now there's so much time for a 14 to play I don't think I think with two timeouts and the flake flirting's selling out I think you kick it away and I feel like you're too backed up in your own territory too risky at the moment also if I'm Fullerton I'm sticking back just for a second to see if they fake it look how they're lined up well they got the beef and still in so Cerritos may see if they jump and we're going to get a timeout and that's one of the things because you looked at well I was something about the way they were lined up for the punt because the punter was up three yards from his normal set well don't forget they ran that fake punt right at the end of the first half they completed that pass to one of the Gunners unfortunately he was tackled before he got into the end zone the time ran out so you take it down to 349 it is a bit of nail butter I tell you what for anybody hasn't been in the booth with us spirit Ryan Osborne an avid Hornet fan the producer of the coaches shown has been one of the main speakers of the coaches oh no Alvarez who has now been indoctrinated into the coach's show and starting to bleed a little blue and gold and curse then there's the old old partner of mine Corey nailing ooh well when he gets up in high places gets a nosebleed it's blue and gold and then there's me Homer Marc what can we say well I'm not as bad as where Sean though so the Falcons get ready to punt it away nobody flinches high ball comes up Hornets don't get there block it ball is blocked the Hornets get it on a bad hike and then a blocked kick and don't we don't even want to hear it from the old guy in between us doing what they should have punted the ball away yeah yeah wait a minute that's what you said they should have some of us said they should have gone for it I should lose 60 pounds doesn't mean that it happened here's the theme that play if they go if they had gone for it I don't think they would have made it okay so the Hornets with 342 to go Ryan Osborne says thank you god I won't have a donut on the ride home if they score no no now you say I will have it doing it on the way home if they score i watch for Alfonzo Graham Cory Nehlen calling the plays from here in the booth here comes the pressure Quinn comets throws in the flat blue move step to the outside get thrown out of bounds at the 10 and there comes a roughing penalty against the Falcons at the 8 and I have a hard time for the official throwing that flag at this stage of the game you're gonna call it because of the way the game has been played but you don't like the flag because it's a football play so that'll be half the distance to the goal bulletin first and goal with 3 minutes and 32 seconds to play this game has been more exhilarating than we thought first and goal at the 8 when Commons goes back tries to get a play gets up to the five good pursuit by the Falcons if there was an ever a play for a draw play or a quick draw that the horn has had in their playbook now would be the time to run it Alfonzo Graham in at running back hunter Rison in the near slot second and goal at the 6 they enter dr. Graham Graham cuts back stays on his feet gets down to the tomb hunter Graham Graham Alfonso Graham wanted to take it outside but here at the hole a little bit too late he was one step too far if he comes and makes it to the pylon he's golden if he comes out one more step to the outside to the sidelines it's now third and goal third and goal at the two they run a straight dive up the middle no place to go you got to plays to win the game to plays you have to be your best plays out there that's not your best play out there I'm sorry you should have seen you three time out on the field with 151 to go you know no I always just it was funny that's why I couldn't see anything okay well yeah you want your last two plays to be your best two plays when it's the goal-line situation you want to make sure I got two scoring plays here I'm not trying to catch anybody off-guard I'm trying to go for the endzone and win the game I don't want to have to be the last play of the game and I got one timeout left for defense I get in the end zone and make something happen so do you think this is a play that we've seen common from the fluorescent team where they run the quarterback option with Quinn comments that not be a quarterback option okay it better not be an option play it better be it could be a bootleg and get Quinn on the forest on the far side the wide side I don't know if I'm going to let him speak or not get him on the wide side of the field and go no I was just gonna say if your fullest in college you want your best personnel out there if you're gonna run that power right up the middle at least have lucky a bigger back no Alfonzo Graham look for Alfonso Graham we're lucky avenger' is now in the key Quinn comments at quarterback for the gold this could be the game here they come Quinn Scott time Quinn Scott time he gets hooked up throws it up ball comes down intercepted by the Falcons and that is going to be if I've got a number that is Demario king as the rush came in on Fullerton when Commons didn't have time to get out there it was a long routes coming through they tried to run crossing routes in the end zone it wasn't anything quick hitting and by the time he gets to the Enzo the are in Cerritos was so congested that it would have been a hard time coming through and getting that now Kashan Griffin is hurt on the field and James Griffin comes out to see 144 to go one time out so the Hornets can only stop the clock once the Falcons could take three consecutive Neal downs and win the game yes they can and unless this is 2009 against Palomar at Cal State Fullerton this game is over for all intent and purposes so 144 to play we've seen some crazy things happen we have two weeks ago Fullerton was down 21 points at the beginning in the fourth quarter yeah you know pipe down all the extras for me thank you thank you Wow they had a whole quarter there's a minute 44 but what he's saying is crazier things have happened we've seen things of happy yeah you've left the booth before yeah and crazy things about we've seen things that happened so he's right I mean anything can happen but we'll see Falcons go into victory formation they just want to protect their quarterback they do ball gets down and so it looks like that dream of being Conference champions nobody's going undefeated mark in conference do you just punted yourself down thank you thank you so the Hornets now will lose three consecutive games in a row they lost the southwestern by three they lost the Ventura up by one and it looks like as of right now they could lose this game by five Hornets use their last timeout all the Falcons need to do is take a knee get back in the victory formation it doesn't McMahon it's gonna go away from being under Center just taking the eight about that ten he's gonna hand it off Ronnie play boy surprised on this one query for the simple reason that a ball could get ripped out I'm surprised on that call that's that's just a little surprising but that takes it to 1:26 the Hornets have no more timeouts thirty seconds for the play clock we're in a minute twenty its third down the Hornets won't be able to stop the clock Falcons will run it down to as far as they can Falcons have one timeout so they could signal for a timeout and back to the anything could happen what is the craziest thing you've ever seen the football not not that what's the what's the craziest thing you know you've seen in football Corey Neyland walk out of the booth because he had it with the game and somebody went to take a kneel down and not the same game for me the craziest has to be Michigan Michigan State what was it 2017 where all he had to do was punt the ball away for the event for Michigan to hold on to the victory and upset Michigan State however bad snap punter fumbles it Michigan State defensive play returns it for a touchdown Michigan State wins that game for me I walked out of the booth at mount sac I threw my headphones down at the game he's talking about I didn't walk out I just do my head sets down see I'm done on my end the cliche is Justin Manning weather up north but you also have to thank her mad where it's miracle at the Meadowlands the famous statement sports didn't start when I was born no it didn't but you know what I was talking about what have you seen if you know that you've been watching and guys I just want to ask you something they're gonna take into eatle be fourth down if they stop this plate quickly the Hornets could get the ball back with ten seconds left in this game now there's 40 seconds on the play clock so 30 they're gonna have to kick the ball away or take a knee with seven seconds because I wouldn't pun it no I think I'd say go deep offensive line give me as much time as you can and let's take this seven seconds wait don't run into the end zone and take your safety pull the Golden West college gotta kick it away so you might as well punt the ball cuz Sharan Griffin's not a hungry charming he's a kick returner and he also went out on that two-point conversion there's a flag delay game moving back five yards so the clock stops because of a penalty so you have to punt it away because with simple reason if you're down as soon as that plays dead the clock stops on change of turnover and if I'm the punter for Cerritos I'm holding on to the ball for an extra second and then punching it straight up into the air I don't I honestly thought after what happened the last time there's no way I'm punt the ball especially with Hunter rice and back there we haven't seen him make that explosive play in this game but you know we all know he's very capable of it but I yeah I think I'm with Cory overall if you're the punter you're taking that football and waiting for that seven seconds to end know what they're gonna do is I'm telling you they're gonna take maybe not even get the safety but they're gonna run for the endzone quick kick no I think they'll run for the safety they should they shouldn't kick it away no I mean if I'm then so Fullerton decline the penalty and Fullerton you bring in all-out blitz you've got to get to them and down it as soon as possible if you do there it is there's the safety and again Bullock in the first three games must be genius and quietly no I wouldn't I would've done something else just run out the clock that's the quickest way to in seven seconds so good job but quarry let's go back to it they line up that that's the obvious thing to do so you've got to take the quarterback and maybe you're not going to get to him yeah but the game ends but I still I'm I still like the rule that you still have to kick it away with one untimed down that's why I wouldn't have gone to the endzone because yeah you run out of the endzone but what does that do yeah that's the last play but you still have that one on time down so the Hornets are going to lose another game by three points so the Hornets come in your expectations were high but the Falcons come away with a much higher ending it's the Hornets 45 the Falcons 42 you've been watching for two college football on sports that u.s. a.net
