one last note from Thaddius that's a good Bible named Thaddeus in Malaysia and Thaddeus writes thanks for writing to a status from Kuala Lumpur and says I only came to Jesus late in my life and I'm Sabbath school as well that's from Malaysia so wherever you are around the world we'd love to hear from you you can write to us at SS hope at hope TV org and this series why is there so much suffering in the world with studying the book of Job it's going to be a blessing but right now we have a scripture song which really gives us hope from Psalm 27 verses 13 and 14 I hope you'll memorize it and sing along with us it's called I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord let's sing together I would have lost heart unless I had believed and I would see the goodness of the Lord I would have my last heart unless I had believed and I would see the goodness of the ball in the land of the living placed on board the other courage and he shall strengthen your weight on the Lord me up the courage and he shall strengthen your heart in weight I say although odd way I say I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of all I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord wait all alone be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart wait on the Lord be of good courage and he shall strengthen your oh wait I say on the oh wait I say you know I was thinking why we were singing who would have imagined we would be singing on an international Bible study but it's not about being a choir is it it's about having the Word of God in our hearts and realizing that tens of thousands are singing around the world with us and hiding that word in their hearts too and as we study the topic today we're beginning our study actually at the end of the story the end of job's story because many have heard about Jobe we want to start at the end but then go back and see what revelation tells us about what was really going on how does it help us to understand why there's so much suffering in the world before we do that though we want to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to bless I want to invite you to join us in prayer that God will bless you where you are as we study together today our Father in Heaven we thank you that you have promised that your Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth that your word is indeed a lamp to our feet and a light to our path today as we begin our study of the book of Job and asks some very important questions I pray for the Holy Spirit's blessing and guidance not only for our team here but for hope Sabbath school members around the world and we thank you in the name of Jesus amen amen now if you met someone when you went shopping and said what do you know about Jobe what would you what would you hear do you think somebody probably say I don't know anything Jason what what what might be a common response about job or most people nothing but if they heard anything it might have been something about oh it's from the Bible but that's about it okay something from the Bible Stephanie tragedy tragedy Alex you hear the phrase job's comforter Oh Jones come so he had some friends who were a problem right okay we're going to go to the end of the book of Job which is in the Old Testament Scriptures and we're going to read the end of the story first and Nathan I wonder if you'd start our study today in job chapter 42 verses 10 through 17 now there has been tragedy we're going to study about that but this is the end of the story and let's see what scripture reveals verses 10 through 17 of job 42 I'm reading from the New King James Version and the Lord restored job's losses when he prayed for his friends indeed the Lord gave job twice as much as he had before then all his brothers all his sisters and all those who had been his acquaintances before came to him and ate food with him in his house and they consoled him and comfort him for all the adversity that the Lord had brought upon him each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold now the day the Lord blessed the latter days of job more than his beginning for he had fourteen thousand sheep six thousand camels one thousand yoke of oxen and one thousand female donkeys he also had seven sons and three daughters and he called the name of the first Jemima the name of the second keziah and the name of the third Karen epic in all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers after this job lived one hundred and forty years and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations so job died old and full of days now if that's the only bit we had of the story of Job we'd know there was something before this wouldn't we what what do you learn from the first well in my Bible first six words or so what's the word that jumps out at you they're stored before the before he restores things it's the word losses losses so we may not know anything about his story but it's been a story of a loss right so we're going to study in and the questions we're going to ask are related to that but what what good things do you see happening from from hearing the story here giving twice as much as he had okay twice as much as he had before that sounds good era were fair with the most beautiful and of all of them yeah he's got beautiful children and actually names his three daughters which actually is kind of unusual isn't it many times in Scripture the daughters are not named we want to talk about what that tells us about Joe Nathan and the fact that they are included in the inheritance of your brothers is unusual - yes so there's something about Jobe that we're learning isn't there and maybe some of that are lessons from his losses all right what what else do you hear in the story he was a great man among all people he was a great man among all a great man and that's interesting because we're gonna learn more about him at the beginning of the book but he's he's not only said and he was very rich yeah but he's a great man anything else jumps out at you Jason we know they has another 140 years of life and gets to see for generations so God gives him additional life so I suppose you might say well this is a story with a happy ending right everybody likes stories and happy endings but but there's still some elements of sadness and some unanswered questions so let's look at the elements of sadness just from this little part this little vignette of of the book of Job what we're the elements of sadness Alexei well I mean you have the idea of his previous children who have died sure circles restored more but he doesn't get those back really important point I mean if you said to me well you got two more children so don't worry about the one that was just killed in a car accident what would you say got some parents here Missy what would you say it would be like taking half of my heart sure yeah you can't replace he's certainly rejoicing in these wonderful children that he has but there's a sadness there anything else elements of sadness Kenneth um the fact that um all his brothers and sisters and all his acquaintances came to him and at foodism that means there has been a time that they went lottery yeah that's a really good point too because actually Alex you mentioned earlier about the jobs comfortless thing but but his family was strange absent during all of the story we're going to study about whatever the losses are we get these comforters who come right to helpful his wife is there but this there's a lot of absence in terms of family so he's he's got some happy ending but he's got some sadness what about the unanswered question would you have some more sadness Stephanie I was just going to say he's still died there okay at the end of the story but he seems to die happy happy yeah right after seeing his children grandchildren yep for four generations so but you're right there's still death at the end yes sure he wondered why me what I mean cuz even I well everything was restored I mean he was stripped of absolutely everything his dignity and he probably still wondered why it was so hard for him because he was a righteous man and and God has blessed him here at the end right interesting phrase when he prayed for his friends that God is blessing him but what about before did you notice a phrase in there when it talked about his trouble that raised some questions in verse 11 Jason what did you see there that still an unanswered question it says for all the adversity that the Lord had brought upon him so it's sort of the question there is why would God bring this on me why adversity why me and wipe does God allow that right for anybody and these are some of the questions we're going to be looking at so if we just had that little bit of the story we've got to start but I want us to if I can separate between unhappy chapters of life and an unhappy ending because the truth of the matter is not only in job's experience or other Bible characters but for us our lives are going to have some unhappy chapters right a chapter is like a part of a book right it's not the whole book but it is a part so I'd like you to think do it I know you're reading your Bibles and you wanting to know the word it's a lamp to our feet light to our path can you think of some characters in the Bible was an unhappy ending and not just an unhappy chapter is there an individual Nancy that comes to your mind Judas Judas yup Judas one of the twelve disciples Jesus I'm sure loved him as much as he loved the others and what's his unhappy ending well let's look and see it is a sad story Matthew 27 and verse five you have the Stephanie I do I'll be reading for what King James Version Matthew 27 verse five and he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed and went and hanged himself now if you know the story where does he get the pieces of silver anybody know Angie yet from betraying Jesus that's right so but it means nothing to him now we don't know where they thought he could force Jesus to to work out his plan we don't know but he's in despair and he's lost a connection and that's something I want us to remember today that the only way we can handle the trials of life is having a living connection with God and I don't know job just said I will not let go right can you think of someone else who who lost that and and his ending was unhappy anybody yes Missy can't Pharaoh with Moses and he was holding God's people back and despite the fact that God had revealed to him his power and he was abstinent and decided to do his things his own way anyhow and and that kind of reminds us of Revelation 20 with the final judgment of the wicked because God is not willing take the text says in second Peter 3 write verse 9 God is not willing that any should that's right but that all should come to repentance is an amazing promise but we could choose an unhappy ending right not just an unhappy chapter there's another story in the book of Acts chapter 5 it's a story of Ananias and Sapphira do you remember that story it sounded like it was good intentions they're giving something but there's some wrong in their hearts they've lost this connection Alex do you have X 5 and verse 5 yes I'll be reading from the New King James Version then Ananias hearing these words fell down and breathed his last so great fear came upon all those who heard these things he literally we have an expression in English he dropped dead now there's a description in the Bible about people's hearts failing them for fear the fear was not what God was like the fear was what he had done what had he done do you remember the story he had what did Peter say you have done what you have lied to the Holy Spirit and his heart stops the impact of realizing what he's done so I don't want to spend the whole study on unhappy endings because God doesn't desire that for any of us right but if we read the Bible we will find over and over again unhappy chapters but it doesn't have to be an unhappy conclusion does it think of a story that had an unhappy chapter in it yes naira um what it comes to - Joseph his guests owed him great illustration you're talking Joseph in the Old Testament not just of the good of marriage right now so that's like Old Testament Joseph's contention with his brothers sold into slavery that's an unhappy chapter in fact here several unhappy chapters doesn't eat and ends up in prison yeah and what's the end of the story he became second to come from not only second-in-command to the Pharaoh but God uses him to play the family to save his people amazing story so unhappy chapter doesn't have to be an unhappy ending and the secret is that Joseph's purposed in his heart that he would not disconnect from God right yeah remember that in in the temptation with Potiphar's wife I'm not going to disconnect from God no matter what the cost I like how because of Joseph's connection with God I like how in the end he can look back on it all and he says to his brothers you meant it for for harm but God meant it for good so he looked at the whole picture and in the end he could see that God was in control God had a plan and that's what gave him the peace to say okay I'm not going to hold bitterness in my heart God was working through all of this you know I'm thinking I think you can think of another story of an unhappy chapter Stephanie and and and a happy ending but even job that the happy ending isn't simply that he has twice as much or he has seven sons and three daughters the happy ending is that what millions of believers down through the ages have been strengthened by historian by his story yeah we're gonna hear things like I know my redeemer lives right so so it's like it's not just for us is it no this this a resolution of this unhappy chapter there's going on what you just said I think especially about John the Baptist the very end of his life he had been falsely accused he sat in prison and he was questioning why why am I here and then at the very end he gets beheaded but it's that's not the end for him that's the the fantastic thing about his story and he gave courage to all the martyrs that would come in future generations if they didn't have if those people didn't have that what would they have to hold on to so that's not the end of the story by the way he was thrown in prison for telling the truth yes he said it's not right for you here to live with your brother's wife yeah so he's just telling the truth and thrown into prison and later of course is beheaded but that's not the end of the story by the way I've wondered and this is a whole nother topic but there was a special resurrection when Jesus was raised and and and I wonder who some of those were but if anybody if anybody would be a powerful witness it would have been John the Baptist but he's going to come up someday in the resurrection of the righteous right so this story is not over any other examples before we we talk about promises that comfort us Jason we talked about Judas and an unhappy ending I think of sort of his contrast Peter another disciple who well he didn't betray Jesus he still denied him and yet he didn't go out and hang himself he had a very unhappy chapter in his life where he wept bitterly where he was very sad but in the end Jesus restored him when you reread in John chapter 21 to his place with the disciples great and that's a perfect transition to what I'm going to say next which is somehow Peter felt hope in the midst of this unhappy chapter which by the way he'd caused by his own misconduct right so think about us today some chapter some scriptures and promises maybe something Peter had heard something you've heard that you say this gives me courage when I'm facing an unhappy chapter in my life job didn't have all of those Bible verses that he I think many Bible scholars believe that Joe may have been the first the script the oldest book so he's got he's got maybe some things he's heard I don't know but we've got so much revelation tippy-toe what's a promise you're smiling as you're looking in your Bible there you found something that gives you courage I have John 16:33 on chapter 16 and verse 33 it was a moment to find that that's it what we're looking at the words of Jesus here aren't we that's right John 16 in verse 33 and what translation of the Bible do you have I'll be reading from the New King James Version and what does Jesus say and it says these things I have spoken to you that in me you may have peace in the world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer I have overcome the world so why does that bring your courage you say well great Jesus has overcome the world but I'm still in this trouble well because I mean we're going to tribulation on this earth and having a context to why we're going through it helps me through it knowing that God has overcome it through Jesus okay I don't know take me to the next step come on now because someone can know about Jesus the demons know and they tremble right right so what's gonna give me courage when I face this this unhappy chapter knowing that through him I can overcome I thank you so I've got this connect she with Jesus right and using through him the victory that he's accomplished becomes might be mine all right Missy I think about creation look how big this universe is the Stars the immensity of where we live the complexity of all the author of all of this is the person this fireside the God who is buying the promise that confirms that is there a promise that you I love I love the one in Isaiah 41 in verse tens anybody know that one Isaiah 41 in verse 10 Nathan you want to read it for us and you you were about to start reciting it yeah right I'll read it though but you're right Missy because this one who gives the promise is the creator of the heavens in the earth okay I'm reading from the New King James Version I've got it underlined in my Bible it's a great promise fear not for I am with you do not be dismayed for I am your God I will strengthen you yes I will help you I will uphold you with my righteous right hand amen so back to what Tim Attell said if he is upholding us we are collective connected thank you for that word if he's upholding us we are could we choose to disconnect mm-hmm yes absolutely we could all right great promise Alex you have another promise or a reflection on the text we've just read another promise and this is pretty well known but um Jeremiah 29:11 Jeremiah all right that's the prot another prophet Jeremiah 29 and verse 11 you know and it's interesting that Alex said this is pretty well known but someone may be hearing this for the first time today right yeah and and they might go really really God has a plan and it's not it's not a bad plan he's got a bigger plan than we may see it first so read that for us sure and I'll be reading from the New King James Version for another thoughts that I think toward you says the Lord thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you a future and a hope I was a point in my life a couple years ago and I found myself in jail for something I did 15 years before and I I couldn't understand why I was in that situation and you know and I was sitting in there and I was in there for almost a month and I'm two weeks into it I picked up a Bible and I was reading and I came across this verse and I just broke into tears and as you know it and it turned my life around for that point I realized that God put me in that situation to turn my life around and so I can get on a path with him and he had a future and a hope and he had plans for me and it just helped me help me move forward and is that awesome yeah we're like we didn't know you were in prison that's awesome though God brought a word in in the midst of an unhappy chapter I didn't have to be an unhappy and oh that's right so thank you for sharing that for I know the plans you read I have for you to prosper you prosper you and not to harm you but we're gonna study in this series on the book of Job because there is someone wanting to arm us but it is not God and that's a revelation Ayaka the verses that I've been read here they really reveal that God is always in total control of every situation but that raises the difficult question for me and I'm going to move to the next part of our study and that is the assurance that some questions are going to be answered and and I'm going to ask you to read a text verse from first Corinthians 4 verse 5 but but the question I ask that comes is if God's in control why does he allow these bad things to happen and and we really want to find an answer to that because some people conclude well God is both good and bad you know if God's in charge of everything but we will someday get an answer to some of those questions but we're looking for some answers today Anna would you read for us first Corinthians 4 and verse 5 sure and I'll be reading from the New International Version therefore judge nothing before the appointed time wait until the Lord comes you'll bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart and that time each will receive their praise from God I like that it's kind of like hold on because when the Lord comes things will be wet open yeah like made plain or I don't know if we'll understand everything but we'll understand some things right one of the verse to look at Nancy do you want to read it for us if you have a comment well I have a comment okay and I can read it if you'd like well it makes me think of an illustration I once heard of you know our life or the world is like a puzzle and we have the one piece that belongs to us and we're looking at this one piece and you know we don't see how it all fits together but God sees it that's a great illustration and either that one piece is our whole life or it if we're the puzzle is just a chapter isn't it and we're like this doesn't look like a good piece but but there's more isn't there first Corinthians chapter 13 and verse 12 I already do you have that career please I'll be reading from the King James Version for now we see through a glass darkly but then face to face now I know in part but then shall I know even as also I am known I don't know if you've ever had the experience of looking through dark glass to try to see what's on the inside can you see anything what was not much if there's some light that you might see something but it's just what its distorting yeah its distorted and it's you may not even know what it is there's something there it could be a person or it could be a cow you know yes or no we see through a glass darkly so here's a question for you if the day comes that things are made plain how can we live with unanswered questions God why did you allow that to happen to my brother why maybe before Alex came to faith there in the prison what why did you let allow something I did 15 years ago to put me in prison today or last week you know how do we maintain peace Stephanie when we're living with with unanswered questions like that I think it goes back to the verses that we were talking about clinging to Jesus and finding our strength in him so that he can get us through those dark chapters in our lives so that connection with Jesus I need someone to help me out with that some more Nancy yeah you know we need to cling to Jesus but the question is why well we need to know him first and when we know him then we'll know that He loves us then he has our best interest in mind and so anything that we go through even though it may not make sense to us there's a purpose for it and it's always for good because we know our God is good all right someone else want to react to that Missy I think of Steven when he about he was about to be stoned I mean that is incredibly dark what he was going to face but he looked up to the heaven and he saw it open up he saw Jesus and to me that was just a powerful statement that who was right there with him through that I mean the martyrs in the early Christian history they have amazing stories of singing while they were being burned at the stake it's just incredible how can you do that except for God's presence so apparently job he knew that though he was in the midst of a very unhappy chapter that it was not the end did he know if he was going to live through it no we're going to study his story he does make it through but Stephanie he said he eventually died anyway but there was a hope that he had no matter what the pieces were that were right ahead of his chapter that he was in there was a hope that he had on I want us to look at that and then help me with some other places in scripture because he's not the only one that had conviction that there was going to be a life after this life Nathan I was just thinking about the recent passage we read in first Corinthians 13 Corinth was known for producing some of the finest bronze mirrors they used bronze mirrors in those time and what was translated in the King James Version his glasses referring to a mirror and I think Paul's point is we're looking at a reflection even though they produced the greatest mirrors available in Corinth it's still a reflection it's not the real thing and he's saying someday we going to see God face to face and then everything's going to be clear and I think of job's expression night I know that I'll see my Redeemer sure that he lives and I'll see him and you know and we're going to look at those two verses right now because if he's going to see him there's a hope that he has job chapter 14 and verse 14 and job chapter 19 verses 25 and 26 they're kind of I don't want to say lost they're embedded in a story of complaining and misrepresentations of what God is really like but Alexia if you could read job 14 and verse 14 there's a confession that job makes in the middle of this discussion with his friends I'll be reading from the New King James Version if a man dies shall he live again all the days of my hard service I will wait till my change comes so first he asks the question if we die will we live again many people ask that but then he gives an answer and what's the answer change is coming a change is coming something's going to happen now how much did he know about a resurrection from the dead whatever he knew he didn't know from Scripture because there was no real scripture available to me for that so so there's another to confession Jason maybe you could read in chapter 19 of Job verses 25 and 26 and I'm going to ask the same question how much did he know about what he was saying here or is he just speaking did the Holy Spirit give him hope in the midst of his difficult time I'll be reading from the New King James Version job chapter 19 verses 25 and 26 for I know that my redeemer lives and he shall stand at last on the earth and after my skin is destroyed this I know that in my flesh I shall see God I think he blessed are the pure heart but they shall see he didn't have that right that was given during the time of Jesus on the Beatitudes right but but how does he know about a redeemer what what mighty have heard anybody I mean we don't actually know when he lived do we 2,000 years before the coming of Jesus we don't know for sure so what does he know about a redeemer he knows he's lives I think it came from that first promise in my garden you know that sometime down the line the woman's seed shall crush the Serpent's head and somehow he knows that story and he believes it so this passing down of truth before the scriptures were actually written the story of Abraham there's nothing in the in the book of Job that suggests he's a relative of Abraham right we see people kind of show up like Jethro the father in law of Moses they don't appear to be rough relatives or descendants of Abraham but maybe he's heard that story and what was there in that story that spoke about a redeemer who would come you remember in the book of Genesis with Abraham that you might have heard that story all all the nations of the earth would be blessed through his scene okay the blessing and and remember when he and Isaac were walking up to Mount Moriah what what did Abraham say to his son on her cell phone God will provide it sacrifice right God will provide and they called the place Jehovah Jireh the Lord who will provide so I don't know he said well I haven't met my redeemer but I know he's alive and he's going to make it through but I love what you said Alex he's got a good plan for me too and I'm going to stand in the earth on the last days in my flesh I will see God now that's that's Joe way back think of some other promises is this you find that throughout scripture there's promise of the Resurrection or is it just kind of a wishful thinking anybody a text comes to mind to mattel Daniel 12 Daniel okay let's look at that's the prophet Daniel that's Ryan the prophet Daniel Daniel chapter 12 and verses one through three one two three all right let's see let's see what Daniel says and I'll be reading from the New King James Version at that time Michaels shall stand up the Great Prince who stands watch over the sons of your people and there shall be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation even to that time and at that time your people shall be delivered every one who is found written in the book and many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake some to everlasting life some to shame and everlasting contempt those who are wise shall sign shine like the brightness of the firmament and those who turn many to righteousness like the Stars forever and ever is that amazing testimony now how did Daniel know that well that's something we we learn as we study scripture Daniel was a prophet there's a prophet right yeah and he received that not as his personal interpretation but by divine revelation yes he believes that there's going to be a resurrection did that sound like something that Jesus taught when he was here hmm where is that John chapter 5 someone read that for us John 5 verses 28 and 29 Nancy would you read that John 5:28 and 29 it sounds like he's almost quoting Daniel but of course Jesus is actually the one who gives us the hope of resurrection that's right this is from the New King James Version do not marvel at this for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear his voice and come forth those who have done good to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation and Kenneth if you could keep reading in chapter 6 for us I'm adding a verse here in John 6 verses 39 and 40 John chapter 6 it's the same discourse but but but it shows us how we can participate in this resurrection of the of the righteous another reading from the New King James Version it reads this is the role of the father who sent me that of all he has given me should lose nothing but should raise it up at the last day and this is the role of him who sent me that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life and I will reason up at the last day so I see Timoteo smiling because comes back to that word we talked about earlier in order to participate in what we call the Blessed resurrection we need to have a much connection with Jesus right and so even though job's not heard about Jesus he knows that he has a redeemer right that promise that was given right in the garden and he knows that that promise is for him too well some people wonder what tell me more about this resurrection and there's a wonderful revelation that Jesus gave to the Apostle Paul in 1st Thessalonians chapter 4 in fact Paul says I received it from the Lord so he's confessing that that was a revelation he's received and Stefanie could you read that for us 1st Thessalonians 4 verses 13 through 18 sure and I'll be reading from the King James Version but I would not have you to be ignorant brethren concerning them which are asleep that you sorrow not even as others which have no hope for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him for this we say unto you by the word of the Lord that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep for the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the Archangel and with the Trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord wherefore comfort one another with these words is that an amazing promise listen you know and this assurance that that that blessed resurrection is going to happen when when Jesus return comes in glory and those of us who are living when that glorious event occurs we'll be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air so how does that assurance by the way how much of that did Jobe know about nothing right he just believed the promise of a redeemer so we have so much more upon which the base our confidence so much to base our assurance on right so let me ask you a question what you've read here and Joe bad a little bit he held on to it how did these promises help you to face the unhappy chapters what we've just read how does it help you back to your puzzle and the little piece of the puzzle how does it help you anybody Stephanie something that comes to my mind is that though death it's painful it's temporary and there is something better isn't there another verse that says we don't grieve and it's in that same passage Janet we don't grieve as those I don't have no hope okay so it's still painful yes someone says oh that's a nice unhappy chapter we say no not happy right painful difficult yeah but it's not the whole picture yeah right Alex I just think of what we have to look forward to first Corinthians 2 verse 9 oh you want to read that for us yes okay give us a moment to find it first Corinthians 2 so you're saying when I face an unhappy chapter and certainly job had his share you're gonna you're going to remember this promise yeah first Corinthians 2 and verse 9 yes and new King James Version but as it is written eye has not seen nor ear heard nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him amen so would someone like to share your not job obviously job lost he lost a lot didn't he and we're going to study about those losses we just read it in the end of the story here losses we'll study about that as we continue this series but would someone like to share an unhappy chap I guess alex has already shared a little piece of his story where God gave you hope in the midst of an unhappy chapter Nathan I just want to say that you know we've had our challenges in life and in ministry and some very unhappy chapters but what Alex just read in context is Paul saying to Greek believers who think kind of like we do in our Western Minds many of our hopes have school viewers maybe our Western mindset viewers and we like to dissect and take apart everything and understand it touch it hold it feel it and Paul saying it's not like that Hebrew thinkers had a different kind of view of how to understand God and the Greeks were like we want to experiment scientifically to get everything and understand it and he's talking about wisdom which is a mystery and it's hidden from us he says you can't see it with your eye you can't understand it in your heart but God has prepared things that are bigger and beyond that and so for me when I'm in those dark difficult chapters it's helpful for me to say okay I'm going to trust God yes it's actually a decision that we make it's an exercise unavailing is it no so what we exercise faith by saying though it hurts and though it doesn't make sense and I don't understand it I have these promises from God now I need to make a choice yes am I going to believe them am I going to hold on and keep that connection am I going to cling to them and I find that when I do that when I make the choice even though it doesn't feel like I want to do that when I say I'm reading God's Word I'm trusting what it says and and my self-talk even in my mind as I say okay lord I believe it things begin to change for me my attitude my outlook changes and to me that's the difference between faith and feeling it's a choice that I make to exercise and the more we exercise faith the more that faith grows and I can go through the deepest darkest experiences because I have a connection with the creator and I really like Nancy the illustration you use is just one piece of the big picture it's one piece of the puzzle Ayaka you you wanted to share an experience where where you found hope in the midst of a challenging time yes I think my worst experience was that of losing my loved ones of lost parents and I've lost two siblings but I find so much comfort in Romans chapter 8 verse 18 can we read it yes all right let's take a moment to find it Romans chapter 8 and verse 18 by the way how does Ayaka know to find that promise what's the answer that is it reading your Bible reading our Bibles it is a lamp to our feet isn't it the Holy Spirit can guide us into truth as we read his word so you're Romans 8 and verse 8 18 years I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us amen so if God will be glorified through me it is well yeah what an incredible verse thank you our present suffering so back to that piece of the puzzle Nancy that piece of the puzzle is an unhappy chapter right but it's not the whole picture this present suffering is nothing to be compared anybody else at a time when you found hope in the midst of an unhappy chapter well that we should be thankful we you haven't if you've not had an unhappy chapter yet it's coming right oh yeah it's coming real you know I'm in the middle of an unhappy chapter myself right now too and and I thought I need this series of the book of Job because I need to base my confidence Nathan not on how I feel but on my faith in my connection with God right we know our redeemer lives we know the hope that we have and he's going to have the final word amen yes yes Jesse you know my husband's family they lost their grandparents in a fire many years ago and you know we don't understand why it happened that way but whenever you talk to you to them what they say is you know and what they have inscribed and at the tomb is you know from the story of Lazarus what is yeah when Azeris come forth you well um where he says um I am the resurrection of Elisha beautiful john of lebanese yea he who believes in me you know though he may die yet shall he live so that's back to the hope of the Resurrection right and so they cling to that they don't understand why it happened that ties in really with what Nathan said thank you for sharing your story that that we don't base when we're going through that chapter in fact we can't rely on our feelings get oh yeah no we just say well just give up and die think no this is just one little piece I want to send the last segment to look at at the final resolution because it's not just about me well I've got a bright future is wonderful Alex's that is future in the hope that you talked about but there is actually a bright future and a hope for planet Earth and we want to look at a few verses that highlight that Daniel chapter 2 Jason if you could read that verse 44 great prophecy about the various kingdoms of the world which by the way confirms that Bible prophecy is reliable that God can reveal the future to his prophets but what is it same verse 44 I'll be reading from the New King James Version Daniel chapter 2 verse 44 and in the days of these Kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed and the Kingdom shall not be left to other people it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms and it shall stand forever now I want you to notice that you could say well we've all kinds of kingdoms want to stand forever but we're going to talk about what that Kingdom is like okay still in Daniel chapter 7 and verse 18 and then someone look up second Peter 3 because that's one of my favorite verses describing the kingdom Daniel 7 Kenneth verse 18 if you could read it for us yeah I'll be reading from the New King James Version and the reason by the Saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever even forever and ever so it's going to be long it's going to fill the whole earth but we've got to go to 2nd Peter because the Holy Spirit reveals to the Apostle Peter something about the final resolution and about something that is just one of my favorite verses and Missy do you have that second second Peter verse chapter three verses 10 and 13 just 10 and 13 not 10 through 13 verse 10 and verse 13 okay I'm reading from the New King James Version but the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise and the elements will melt with fervent heat both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up nevertheless we according to his promise look for new heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells you like that yes not just the new heavens and new earth but a new heavens and new earth where white lights all right I imagine job on that day going I knew them over deeper and here we are you know and the amazing thing is not only is he going to have those seven sons and three daughters he's going to have those other children we're going to talk about that in a future study that that tragically died in part of the losses that were going to study about well one last verse in Revelation 21 it's one of my favorites and I think that the Holy Spirit impressed the Apostle John to write this revelation of Jesus because we need it on our journey and Revelation chapter 21 verses 4 and 5 Hannah do you have that would read it for us 21 verses 4 and 5 yes I'll be reading from the New International Version you'll wipe every tear from their eyes there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain for the old order of things have passed away he who was seated on the throne said I am making everything new then he said write this down for these words are trustworthy and true amen so whose job's going to be looking for this Redeemer oh thank you Kenneth I don't know man I thought someone's going to say all of the other children is he gonna be looking for them I'm - yes absolutely yes but but Kenneth thank you because there's that connection that's what we're talking about isn't it that's how we face these unhappy chapters so so first thing easy to look for is his redeemer all right well now if I ask you you've all got the same answer right I was gonna ask you who you're going to be looking for and you're gonna say Jesus that's good praise God he is the Redeemer who lives and we want to see him is there someone else you're going to be looking for as you think today in this chapter of your journey somebody is this someone you're going to be looking for on that day when when we are gathered in that kingdom where righteousness dwells Nathan I see you smiling yeah I'm gonna be looking for my mother who died praying for me and I'm gonna be looking for my brother who died unexpectedly you know suddenly and I'm hoping that I see him in the resurrection so your mother will have a huge surprise to see what God has done and we'll all be surprised by God's grace that so many from every nation kindred tongue and people will be there someone else who are you looking for on that day who came to your mind Kenneth a young lady who just passed away and we went to visit a family he she kept on lap with Jesus and somehow she just passed away she fell in love with Jesus so what hope does she have you had the person who redeemer lives right and when he says awake you who sleep in the dust and arise when the trumpet sounds when Christ returns in glory she's going to rise mmm because she has a connection right sleep we're gonna be stirred from our sleep when Jesus comes again so what's the most important lesson you've learned as we begin this amazing series on the book of Job anybody what's the most important lesson Timoteo that horrible things may happen in our lives but what is important is that we understand that if we remain connected to God we can overcome and that even if it doesn't happen that we overcome in this world there's a resurrection to come and we can look forward to oh man well I don't know what lesson you've learned I'd love to hear from you you can write to us at SS hope at hope TV org I hope we can all say I know my redeemer lives and and in my flesh I will see God blessed are the pure in heart they will see God and we can share that hope in a hopeless world when people say why is there so much suffering I just don't understand tell them to join us in this series on the book of Job we'll find hope in the midst of the sadness of this world we'll look at that one little unhappy chapter but we'll also see the big picture of the hope that we have through Jesus our Savior let's pray that we can experience that hope and share it with others father in heaven is as we begin this series on the book of Job we live in a world of suffering but I thank you that you have given us the bigger picture and I thank you that our redeemer lives and for the hope that we have helped us to share that hope with those around us but may we first accepted ourselves and through that connection with Jesus have joy and peace in him I pray in Jesus name Amen well thanks for joining us for Hope Sabbath school we're starting a life-changing series and it's not just about Jobe who lived millennia ago it's about a living connection with Jesus because when we have hope in him it changes everything go out and share that good news with those around you you
