Honor Magic 6 Pro review vs Honor Magic 5 Pro! Camera, Performance, Dispaly!

the very recently released honor magic 6 is finally here in my hands what an honor you see what I did there okay let's begin hey I'm Olive your host here at versus and today we're going to be taking a closer look at the latest honor magic 6 Pro is it really worth the upgrade from the magic 5 Pro stay tuned as throughout the video we will be comparing the two and we'll also be doing a thorough camera comparison because of course the camera is a crucial part of your smartphone [Music] let's start off with the [Music] display the honor magic 6 Pro boasts a 6.8 in OLED display whereas its predecessor had a 6.81 in OLED display of course this is barely noticeable when you actually look at the phones and hold them in your hand they both have a 120 HZ refresh rate with the honor 5 having a resolution of 1312 * 2848 pixels and a 461 PPI density the honor 6 has a resolution of 1280 * 2800 pixels and a 453 PPI density both smartphones also support HDR 10 plus the honor 5 Peak brightness is at 1,800 nits whereas the honor six Peak is now at an impressive 5,000 nits based on specs alone I'd say that there have definitely been improvements made to the honor 6 Pro although they aren't drastic it all depends on if you really need those extra few adjustments in brightness but now let's take a closer look at the design the honor magic 6 Pro features a Sleek design with a glass front and a choice between a glass back or an eco-friendly silicone polymer back resembling leather which does provide for easier grip if you opt for the vegan leather you'll also be avoiding constant smudges from fingerprints which is a major bonus the device weighs around 225 g and definitely feels feels chunky in hand the corners are nice and rounded and the screen also curves slightly on the edges hugging the metal frame the Dome shaped lens module is elegantly framed while the legendary cushion shaped design is adorned with the captivating presence of a star wheel the device is also ip68 dust and water resistant so no need to worry about accidentally getting it wet all in all it's a nice design with a slight upgrade from the honor 5 Pro but it all comes down to personal preference as when it comes to design it's all very subjective but now let's take a closer look at the cameras on this bad boy and see what's new with them starting off with the honor magic 5 Pro it is equipped with triple rear cameras which consist of a 50 megapix wide camera a 50 megapixel Ultra wide camera and a 50 megap telephoto camera it also has a 12 megap front camera the honor magic 6 Pro is also equipped with a 50 megap main camera a 50 megap ultrawide camera and has now also added a 180 map Periscope Tel Tel photo camera with the ability to now digitally zoom in 100 times it also has upgraded its front camera to 50 megapixels so let's take a closer look at a few images in various categories to see if we can actually see a difference in the quality of the two so as always let's start with standard photos as this is the mode that people use most frequently in this first photo the honor 5 definitely has higher exposure which can sometimes be good but in this case it's missing out details specifically in the beautiful building behind me the honor 6 has higher saturation deeper contrast and an overall more detailed image behold an exciting photo of my extremely delicious lunch I've got to say that the honor 5 has given us a better photo the colors are more accurate and the exposure is decent considering the lighting wasn't ideal while the honor 6's outcome isn't terrible the Shadows appear slightly harsh and there's a subtle yellow tint across the entire image detracting from its appeal in low light the honor 6 has managed to expose the photo fairly nicely ensuring that the subject in this case me is well lit the honor 5 on the other hand has overpowering contrast and shadows losing a lot of details in the photo now let's move on to ultra wide photos which are great for capturing more of the scenery [Music] in in this first example the images look almost identical I mean if you were to look at them separately you 100% wouldn't notice a difference but if you look very closely you can see that the honor 5 has slightly higher saturation which I particularly noticed in that small sign outside the shop you can also see it in the leaves but honestly it's barely noticeable and both images look great outdoors with natural light the honor 5 has exposed the image far too much even though it wasn't even a particularly sunny day I mean it's Berlin sun is rare the honor 6 isn't ideal as some of the colors are inaccurate but it does preserve more details because of its nice deep contrast here's a nice looking nighttime photo where the honor 5 has done a better job with with the white balance as the colors are very accurate the honor 6 has gone down the extremely warm Hue which isn't my favorite both images have noise present in the sky specifically between the illuminated areas where the lights are hitting I'd say the honor 6 has it a little more extreme but it's mainly noticeable because of its inaccurate coloring now let's move on to portrait mode which as you may already know is my favorite this is a challenging decision since I appreciate specific features on both the honor 5 and the honor 6 let's begin with the honor 5 The Edge detection is nearly Flawless although it occasionally misses some strands of hair near the top and sides of my head I appreciate the warmer richer tones it produces yet I'm also drawn to the honor 6's more natural cooler color palette although the honor 6's Hues might lean slightly towards green I kind of find it acceptable however similar to the honor 5 its Edge detection could be improved as it also fails to capture certain strands of of hair in the following image the honor 5 displays deeper contrast and more pronounced Shadows on my face while the honor 6 offers beautiful exposure with well-managed highlights and a moderate level of contrast however neither photo exhibits ideal Edge detection and it's uncertain whether there has been significant Improvement in this regard it's interesting to see that in low light portrait mode the honor 5 outperforms the honor 6 now don't get me wrong neither photo is great but the honor 6 has very low contrast with heightened Shadows which is giving it a very dull and muted look although the honor 5 has better contrast it's still looking quite smudged and lacking sharpness I'll be honest although the honor 6 is slightly too saturated I do think it looks quite nice and the footage is definitely social media ready the honor 5 results aren't bad but the footage looks a little dull as firstly it's a tattoo Overexposed and the muted colors give it an overall lackluster feel if only the contrast was slightly higher it could have greatly improved the outcome here I actually don't mind the muted colors coming from the honor 5 I mean I'd still prefer if the contrast was higher but overall I think it's a decent video the honor 6 has also done a good job with a nice deep contrast and although the high saturation Works in certain areas it's not fully working on my face the extreme yellow Hue isn't ideal both devices are also overexposing my face when in direct sunlight in low light neither device did very well as both videos are relatively blurry with noise visible the honor 5 manages to expose the video better but the honor 6 has the more natural look and manages to preserve more details such as the lit up sign in the back window interestingly enough in Ultra wide videos the honor 5 has an extremely red Hue particularly when it comes to my skin tone the color accuracy on the honor 6 isn't ideal either but it does come across as more natural when compared to the honor 5's outcome this next one is a tricky one as I think it really comes down to personal preference in my opinion both videos look good the honor 6 exposes the entire video really well but has muted the colors whereas the honor 5 has much stronger contrast and harsher Shadows whilst also keeping saturation high at first glance both of these Night videos look identical but if you take a closer look at the blue uban sign in the back the exposure is maintained slightly better on the honor 6 it seems that the honor 5 has slightly more obvious noise than the honor 6 but the honor 6 is looking quite blurry and smudged losing a lot of details particularly noticeable in my face last but not least let's take a look at stabilization as that's super crucial when recording video it's nice to see that the honor 6 has improved its stabilization it's still not perfect but we now have a lot less Shake which the honor 5 really seems to struggle with it is finally time for selfies my favorite whilst I'm at it I'm also going to test out the front camera video and audio to see which which one of these gives me the best results I've got to say that I prefer the selfie coming from the honor 5 its color accuracy is on point and the amount of exposure is ideal plus the image is nice and sharp the honor 6 on the other hand looks a bit too dim and has a slight greenish yellowish color tone which isn't looking great the image has also come out blurry which may have been an accident but still it's not ideal outdoors in natural light the honor 5 is a tad oversharpened from my liking yet the exposure is good but it could be toned down slightly the honor 6 doesn't have ideal color accuracy as that slight green tone is creeping in a little however I do think it has the better image due to its nice deep contrast and overall smoothness all right onto low light selfies with light just coming slightly from the phone screen the honor 6 obviously crushes it here as the image is actually quite decent the honor 5 is definitely struggling as the image isn't sharp and the colors are looking quite patchy it's not the worst image in the world but it's nothing I'd send to my crush now moving on to front camera video I'd say that the honor STI does a better job at maintaining the same exposure throughout the video although it does become Overexposed the closer I get to the camera however the honor 5 struggles right from the start and all the way till the end the honor 6 also has better color accuracy making the video look much more natural so here we have the sound coming in from the built-in microphone of the honor Magic 5 how am I sounding it is a little windy how is it handling that and then here is the sound coming from the built-in microphone of the honor magic 6 how is this one sounding how is it battling against that wind when it comes to audio I have to say that the honor 6 has actually made some improvements here although it still doesn't have ideal noise cancellation because that wind was coming in strong it does have smoother and more crisp audio so so well done honor I see some type of animal on top of that building but I can't quite make out what it is let's see if the zoom lenses can help me out at three times Zoom apart from the obvious color differences both photos look good with the honor 6 having a higher contrast which is helping more details stand out at five time zoom I'd actually argue that the honor 5 has a sharper image but the honor 6 still maintains that nice deep contrast at 10 times Zoom both devices actually perform pretty well but the honor 6 has a tiny bit more sharpness and again the higher contrast is helping the detail stand out at 30 times Zoom is when the honor 6 really loses it the photo looks quite awful and all the details are completely blurry check out the tree branches all of a sudden they've become non-existent at 100 time zoom neither image is good so it's difficult to compare I suppose the honor 5 has preserved more details but I don't know what do you think it's shocking as the owner 6 Pro has a new 180 megapixel Periscope telephoto camera with the ability to now digitally zoom in 100 times so I definitely did not expect these results perhaps they still need to improve it with some software updates so that was just some shots we captured and don't forget to leave your thoughts in the comments but now moving on to Performance the honor Magic Pro operates on the Snapdragon H Gen 2 whereas the new and improved magic 6 Pro now operates on Snapdragon 8 gen 3 which we love to see both devices have up to 512 GB of internal storage and 16 gbes of ram of course we also tested out some benchmarks to really see how the performance has developed and the results were the following on geekbench 6 at both single and multi-core the honor 6 scored higher than the honor 5 with scores of 291 and 5,467 on 3D Mark Wildlife extreme the honor 6 continues to score higher with a score of 5,216 compared to the honor 5 on an tutu it also scored higher with a result of just under 1.5 million although the new chip is of course faster it does not mean that the honor 5 is slow it is still a flagship smartphone with more than enough power finally we've got to talk about battery life as that's a crucial step when deciding which device to go for it's refreshing to see that the honor magic 6 pro has worked on improving its battery life with now a typical value of up to a 5,600 mAh battery not that the honor magic 5 Pro was bad as it both a 5,100 mAh battery which is still higher than the Galaxy s24 Ultra mind you you can charge with 80 wat and even with 66 W via wireless charging on the honor magic 6 Pro either way whichever one you go for the honor 5 Pro or the honor 6 Pro you'll have no issues with your battery capacity so that pretty much sums up these two phones personally I think the honor magic 6 pro has definitely made some improvements not just to its specs but also to the camera and audio quality that being said I also think the honor magic 5 Pro is a very decent smartphone and has strengths of its own in the end I think it really depends on what you mainly need the phone 4 if you're someone who's super passionate for photography or you want to take superb and readymade videos for social media then it may be worth grabbing the honor magic 6 Pro however if you don't need extra lens and you're fine with the slightly older chip set then the honor magic 5 Pro will do you just fine we hope you found this
