hey guys welcome back to my channel for today's video we're going to be reviewing some products from honest beauty so i have skincare and makeup items that we are going to be talking through i'll not only talk through ingredients but i'll actually apply them on camera we'll kind of chit chat about formulation real time as i am applying everything so i know a lot of you guys have been curious about this brand so i thought we could just test out a lot from them so i have a cleanser a moisturizer a serum mascara i have their tinted moisturizer their tinted eye cream i have their cream blush a little bit of everything here today that we are going to be using on camera so i will let you know my thoughts from both an ingredient label perspective and performance perspective as well so if you want to hear if honest beauty is worth a purchase then you are in the right spot let's jump right into it okay so the cleanser that i picked up is their calm on foaming cream cleanser and this is the one that i'm not going to be able to talk through while i'm applying it because i have to be in my bathroom with water running to cleanse my face so it doesn't really work for a talk over everything else i will talk through as i'm applying those so this one has four ounces of product in it and retails for 17.99 they say it's for easily irritated sensitive skin that's me that it has a thick creamy formula it gently removes impurities and makeup and it supports your skin's natural barrier so this is a formulation that i would say actually kind of surprised me i don't have any other cleansers that are quite like this i would say it's definitely unique to my cleanser collection a unique addition not something that's a duplication at all and i would agree that at first as you're rubbing it into the skin it feels very thick and creamy well i wouldn't say very thick moderately thick but very creamy it's really nice and soft it's not something that's quite as thick as let's say an inky list o cleansing balm which is almost waxy and balmy definitely not as heavy as that but does have a creamier formulation which feels really nice to apply but as you start to really get water lathered up with it it actually starts to bubble a little bit which made me slightly nervous because oftentimes the cleansing agents that cause that bubbly foaminess can be stripping irritating and drying on the skin that's not true all the time there are definitely cleansers that are even lighter weight than this that true kind of airy foam that don't have irritating cleansing agents but a lot of the times that can be the case so i was slightly nervous about that but thankfully in this situation all the cleansing agents are mild and gentle yet effective which is definitely something that i have to be on the lookout for because like i said i have easily irritated sensitive skin felt really nice through and through and i would say after it's removed my skin actually does just feel kind of refreshed and supple and replenished it feels really nice i like it a lot definitely not that squeaky clean feeling that some cleansers can leave my skin with and then aside from the cleansing agents in this just being good in general for irritated sensitive skin the other highlight of this cleanser is just the variety of skin identical ingredients in it so those are ingredients that are found naturally in our skin and they all kind of have their own unique set of benefits but in general they're going to help to maintain the health for skins barrier so we have things like phospholipids to soften and smooth linoleic acid which helps with barrier repair that's a really great source of fatty acids and then a variety of hydrators like hyaluronic acid and arginine which is an amino acid and sodium pca which helps to hydrate as well overall i think this is a great cleanser definitely one worth looking into if you have sensitive skin if you like that kind of nice creamy formulation if you enjoy a little bit of bubbly action but you want something that's going to leave your skin feeling nice and soft after i like it a lot i had to cheat a little bit i know this isn't honest this is just the la roche posay thermal spring water i've been sitting here talking for too long so i needed to re-wet my face so that it's ready for my serums okay so the serum that i do have is the vitamin c radiant serum this one has one fluid ounce of product in it and retails for 27.99 it says that it has a day brightening blend of vitamin c light reflecting pearl and hyaluronic acid to help to increase skin firmness hydrate and illuminate your complexion so i will show you guys the formulation first it's definitely more of a gel based [Music] serum versus one that is really really liquidy and watery it feels very very nice to apply oh gosh it feels so good so the form of vitamin c in this is sodium ascorbyl phosphate and this is a derivative of ascorbic acid that is not my favorite derivative of ascorbic acid it's one that definitely is more stable but is questionable in terms of penetration which is one of the major issues with vitamin c in general is just the question of penetration and if it's even able to properly penetrate the skin so that our skin can see full benefits so that is a downside one of the other pros to this though is that it can be formulated in serums like this with higher ph levels so ascorbic acid has to be in formulas with ph levels around 3.5 and that can be really irritating for some so that is a positive of this if you have sensitive skin derivatives that can be formulated in serums with higher ph levels can often help you out in that situation and be far less irritating but sodium scrobophosphate has been shown to help to fade dark spots though so it has some skin brightening benefits and the other major benefit to it the other vitamin c derivatives don't necessarily have is that it's antimicrobial and has been shown to help with acne so i would say this is one to consider if you have very sensitive skin and ascorbic acid it irritates your skin you're looking for some skin brightening effects and some extra help with acne otherwise would this be my top recommendation for a vitamin c serum definitely not but it feels really nice on the skin and it does have some other great highlights as well so let me read through those quickly so it has apple fruit extract which helps to hydrate and brighten the skin and something called brightening which is a really interesting ingredient that also has potent skin brightening potential hydrators include glycerin aloe sodium pca as well and hyaluronic acid so if that specific vitamin c serum doesn't do much for you it does have other great hydrating ingredients and maybe in combination with the apple fruit and the brightening you actually may see some benefit as far as skin brightening goes so brightening anti-acne worth looking into okay for moisturizer i have the daily calm lightweight moisturizer this has 1.7 ounces of product in it and retails for 29.99 this has really similar benefits and callouts to this because they're from the same kind of calming range this one says that you're going to get 24-hour lasting moisture visibly reduced redness and calm irritated sensitive skin all while helping to restore a compromised skin barrier so this one i'll show you guys the formulation it is really nice like it feels nice and soft but it's actually not as lightweight as i was expecting it kind of to me feels like it's in between a lotion and a cream when we're thinking about consistency and thickness so i feel like so many people are familiar with cerave so i'll just use that kind of as point of reference but it's definitely thicker than their pm facial moisturizing lotion it's also in my opinion thicker than their daily moisturizing lotion but it's lighter weight than the moisturizing cream so i would say it's kind of in between that daily lotion and the cream as far as thickness goes it's like a creamy lotion it does feel nice it's not the easiest to blend into the skin i will say that's the one thing that i've kind of been noticing about it is that compared to other moisturizers that i have it does just take a little bit longer to blend in but once it's blended in it feels great on the skin again leaves my skin feeling nice and soft and supple and i feel like it kind of settles into lines really well too so i'm gonna add a little more around the eye area click i like that and then ingredient highlights for this one are almost exactly the same as the cleanser as well but instead of having sodium pca in place of that it has a lantern and jojoba esters actually both of which can help to calm and suit the skin oh that's kind of stinging around my eyes a little bit gosh lately my skin has been on one you guys so sensitive breaking out like crazy so i have some scars and leftovers from my breakouts it's just it's not been a very fun past couple months for my skin okay now for sunscreen i'm going to be using their tinted moisturizers so this is their clean corrective with vitamin c so it's called their ccc tinted moisturizer with broad spectrum spf 30. this has one ounce of product in it and retails for 21.99 this i picked up the shade fair their shade range is very very weird i have to say so this says it has cool to neutral undertones which i just don't love when we have a limited shade range like this neutral is best because that's going to work for the widest variety of people versus leaning really cool or really warm because that's like going to the opposite end of the spectrum neutrals more in between if that makes sense so this is cool to neutral they're light shade i'm so confused right now i have no idea what just happened but the shade swatches on their website just disappeared before my eyes uh okay well i remember what they were i think so the light shade instead of being neutral to cool was neutral to warm and then their medium shade which was the next one if it was called medium was just neutral and then their deep shade was back to neutral to cool so i just don't really understand their color selection here and kind of why they chose to go all over the place with undertone that would make more sense if we had multiple undertones available across each shade range but we just don't so definitely not the worst tinted moisturizer range i've ever seen because some that are sunscreen will literally just have the one shade available but don't love that and then if you're wondering the active ingredients in this as far as sunscreen goes are 2.4 titanium dioxide and 13 zinc oxide so mineral only definitely a better case scenario for those that are super sensitive so here is the shade and formulation on the back of my hand i do have to say for something that is supposed to be cool to neutral i don't feel that it's that cool so it definitely is more peachy than pink which i guess makes sense that it's cool to neutral but if you are really concerned about that maybe if you have warm toned skin hopefully that will work better for you but let's blend this in so i'm just going to start with that much and just kind of emulsify this in my fingers and just start to apply with my fingers okay i think just because i'm sitting here chatting with you guys and it's taking longer i'm getting a little bit of pilling here the last time that i applied this over these exact same products i did not have pilling i think just because i went in more quickly so i'm just going to use a foundation brush actually to help to prevent that so i can stipple it in versus when you're blending in with fingers you're rubbing and pulling this i can kind of pat and avoid some of that so like i said normally i don't experience pilling in doing that and i think it does blend into the skin well with fingers but obviously when you're using fingers for anything like that over a large surface area it's going to streak a little bit and not look the most seamlessly blended which normally is no big deal when it comes to a tinted moisturizer or i should say tinted sunscreen because most of the time tinted sunscreens just don't really have much color or coverage because that's not the intent of the product but this one actually has a surprising amount of coverage i would consider it to be a meat i would say like light to medium buildable coverage product which like i said surprised me i was expecting it to be lighter than that so if you're looking for something that's kind of in between in terms of coverage but also has sunscreen this could be a good one for you okay so here is with one application we will do two so we can see how this builds see like that's a decent amount of coverage i didn't really put much around my eyes because i just forgot okay so here is this side around my eye with it and then without i just have a lot of veins and discoloration around my eye area so that actually does a really good job of covering it okay so that is one application it's definitely a product that's very dewy and radiant and luminous and glowy which are all good things for some people i love all those characteristics but when it comes to a product like this it's kind of meant to replace makeup even if you're not going for a full coverage look it just doesn't always work the best on those that have really oily skin because this is not going to provide you with any oil control i've worn this on its own throughout the day my skin definitely just starts to look a little bit greasy as my oils start to produce more throughout the day so that's why i have such a hard time with these really really natural bare-faced looks because my skin is oily and most products like this are very radiant in finish and i need something to help to control those oils i always use a setting powder over my foundations and once i put a setting powder on top of something like this i'm like why don't i just have foundation on because then i feel like it starts to look a little bit weird on me the flatter finish at first with this kind of coverage i don't know it's just something that i'm going to have to continue to play around with let's apply another layer so aside from the active ingredients this one has glycerin in it to help dehydrate it has sunflower seed extract which is a nice skin conditioning ingredient it has hobastas as well vitamin e and then this did say that it has vitamin c in it but i would say this one vitamin c i'm even less impressed with than sodium ascorbyl phosphate it's something called ascorbal isotetropalmitate and that one i mean it has some similar characteristics to sodium scrobophosphate or sap we'll call it where it's more stable and can be formulated in products with a higher ph but this one has to be in a ph of five or less i don't know what the ph is of this product so i can't really fully speak to that but aside from that it's also just not a very well proven or well researched form of vitamin c anyway so i just i mean i never am recommending using products like this as your sole source of antioxidant support you know okay so that is what we are looking like with the two applications so really not much has changed after the two applications but it does build well it doesn't add that much coverage when you do the second application if you're wondering why i did that i always use two applications of sunscreen to make sure that i'm not missing any areas make sure i have adequate protection i'm just pulling a little bit right here though that's the only thing so it works with both fingers and a brush i actually do prefer the way that it looks with a brush because you just again can blend it in a little bit better and it's not quite as streaky so let's move on to the next product which i was definitely the most excited about it's their honestly bright tinted eye cream this one has 0.5 fluid ounces of product in it and it retails full 23.99 did i know that so it's more expensive with half the amount of product than this what the heck this says it's a multi-tasking color correcting eye cream to help to reduce the appearance of dark circles while delivering 24 hours of hydration only two shades available here the first is sandstone which i picked up and the second is a deeper shade called terracotta show you guys this formulation so this undertone is definitely more yellow than the tinted moisturizer which leaned a little bit more peach i like that for around the eye area because that can help to camouflage veins and discoloration which around the eyes are often bluish and purplish so let's go ahead and apply a little of this i had never used a tinted eye cream before this and i love this concept for a product because i would say this aside from my eyebrows which i really need to fix is the biggest reason why i can't get away with no makeup makeup my discoloration around my eyes on top of my eyelids under eye circles is just very intense and when i'm really fair and don't have any color to my skin which i mean when's the last time i actually had natural color to my skin it just looks a little startling in my opinion you know that's just my personal opinion of my own face that's okay if you don't agree but i just don't love the look of that the veins and the purpley look so this is such a cool concept because you can have a little bit of that color correcting ability without it being a full on concealer this consistency is definitely much creamier than that tinted moisturizer i mean i would say they both are creamy but this is even more creamy it does feel very very nice and hydrating it's nice and soft and smooth it blends into the tinted moisturizer really well and once it's blended in it doesn't feel as heavy as it first does when you squeeze it out of the tube also i forgot to say as far as actual weight and feel of this one i mean you can definitely feel it because of how radiant it is if that makes any sense i often find that products that have this like super glowy finish i can kind of feel them on the skin but it doesn't feel heavy all right keep blending like we can see the difference there i really like this product the downside to it is that because it's so creamy and moisturizing it definitely does settle into lines quite a bit so if you have a lot of creasing on your eyelid i mean it'll it'll settle into there especially as the day goes on and i just i don't love the look of that so that i would say is the biggest downside but can be fixed with a little bit of setting powder but it has a good amount of coverage it's definitely a lighter coverage than the tinted moisturizer but again i think that works with a product like this because if you were to pair this with just a regular tinted sunscreen or an untinted sunscreen both of which don't really have much coverage then a full full coverage concealer would look a little bit off so something like this works perfect with that and this one i would say you just have to work with it a little bit as far as the blending goes so i'm just using a combination of kind of swiping and padding motions if you just swipe that's just going to streak it and pull away the coverage so the combination of the padding and swiping can help to blend it but then also make sure that you do have a decent amount of pigment especially around here where it's extra dark for most so this is the final result i completely forgot to say ingredient highlights for this one a lot of the same exact ingredients we've already talked about glycerin apple fruit extract jojoba esters sodium pca vitamin e hyaluronic acid the one that is unique to this is squalane which is a moisturizing ingredient that will help to soften and smooth so i actually really love that for around the eye area so another great set of ingredients second to last product we have is their cream blush so this one they have in four different shades as well this has .1 ounces of product and is 12.99 it just says it's going to bring out a dewy natural glow it's a sheer cream finish but it builds with every blend so the shade that i picked up is called rose pink they also have plum berry which is more of a purpley plum shade coral peach which is much warmer and more orangey and then peony pink which is really bright and poppy i thought that this would work the best for me so i will show you guys this one i've obviously been playing around in here i really like the shade of this i would say it's just a pretty everyday wearable pink and this product is interesting it just has quite a few different fruit extracts in it actually so it also has apple fruit extract but then it also has blackberry and grape not grapefruit actual grape what else i feel like there was more a raspberry kind of interesting i like so all things that just help to hydrate i think this is such a pretty product it blends in well i actually think it has a really good amount of color to it but it's something that's easy to both sheer out and build up whatever you would like and i'm going to use a combination of this brush and my finger to do that blend so this is something that i often like i mean i do this basically with any product that i use is with things like blush and bronzer i will go back over those products with whatever i used prior so when it comes to foundation like this i mean i know it's not foundation but same thing cream products like foundation and tinted moisturizer i will go back over that with the brush that i used with some of that product and i find that it just makes it look more natural same thing with powder products as well i'll go back over with my face powder brush and just helps to blend in so that is with the blush and then without i really really like it i think it's such a beautiful color and the formula is nice but again it's very dewy i mean that's just what you get with these cream products this is also something that works really well blended into the tinted moisturizer i feel like these all just complement each other nicely which of course is always great okay so here is where we have landed with all of those products applied hopefully you guys can see what i was saying earlier dry skin dream you guys are going to love these products if you have dry to normal skin i wish i could get away with this i honestly do if it just stayed at this level of glow i shouldn't have done that i put blush on that i'd be good i'd be totally fine doing this and i would love it as kind of a no makeup makeup look it just really helps to enhance your skin but it doesn't look dead you know i feel like sometimes those no makeup makeup looks for me can make me look lifeless this definitely doesn't do that it just brings the glow brings the health i like it but unfortunately i just can't do this on its own throughout the day i have to powder it which of course you definitely can there's no issue with that but i feel like it i don't know it just kind of takes away from it which is the bummer so we have one more product to test out it's their mascara but i have other videos that i wanted to film later today and i wanted a little bit more makeup on than this so i am going to go ahead and apply makeup off camera we'll come back for the very last step which is mascara and then we will wrap up this review okay i'm ready for mascara so i actually have not tried this yet i was very intrigued by it so i just picked it up actually it's their extreme length mascara and a lash primer oh cute okay so on one side we have a lash primer and the other we have mascara i honestly haven't used a primer in so long and i kind of stopped using them because i felt like they were actually weighing down my eyelashes but we will give it a go okay the primer does not feel too heavy or wet which is good oh and then here's the mascara wand i was not expecting that so it actually has a rubber wand i was expecting natural hair okay so here is with one coat pretty good and that is it with two coats so that's actually a pretty good mascara i would be curious to see how it performed without the primer because i'm wondering if the primer kind of caused a little bit of that clumping it's not clumpy but it's just not as separated as i would like it to be but it's definitely super lengthening so i really like that about it so that's officially it for today's video i really hope that you guys enjoyed it and enjoyed this kind of chit chat get ready with me format while we still review products so as always let me know your thoughts in the comments below and if you would like to see more videos in this style because i can definitely do that i feel like we found some really good stuff here today from honest beauty not everything was a complete win but some really good products obviously it's not the most affordable brand so that is definitely a downside i don't know that the ingredients necessarily weren't that price point compared to other affordable brands however you definitely are getting elevated packaging and obviously that's going to cost a brand more and they're going to have to up charge for that versus some other drugstore brands which just i mean they definitely don't have the same kind of packaging like these little pumps i really like them so that makes sense to me i do think a lot of these products have really great ingredients and in general get my stamp of approval i would be curious to test out more from them but a lot of their other products do have essential oils so maybe in the future if those ever go away so i would love to hear you guys thoughts on the products that i used have you tested any of these yourself did you like them did you not like them have you tried other things from honest beauty that you did really enjoy or maybe not let's all chat on this beauty in the comments below and if you are interested in purchasing anything i will have everything linked in my description box in order of use slash mention so that's officially everything if there's
