Holy Stone HS110D FPV Drone - FULL REVIEW

now i'm still flying line of sight whoa here we go [Music] hey all right this is dad random and i've come out this morning it's really really really calm and the reason why i'm out in a calm calm day is i'm gonna be flying a a toy drone and if you know what it's like to fly a a toy drone you know that some of these lighter ones like this one by hollystone requires a really really calm day so i picked this day just for that reason so let's let's try it out now this is the hs110d let me show you the box let me go ahead and the hs series is a is a beginning drone series uh this has a 1080p output on wi-fi it is a brushed motored quad um and it's pretty cool it's got some colorful leds that are very bright easy to see uh hd camera six axis gyros was very stable it's a it's a got single uh cell batteries um and it does a pretty good job at holding altitude um the key to these types of quads is not that it does a lot for you it's that you have to do a lot for it and that's the that's what makes these kinds of quads um perfect for beginners you really start to learn to fly um with the controller with this one so i'm gonna go ahead and start flying here we go i'm gonna set it up with wi-fi and i'm gonna take it out all right here's the controller real quick i'll kind of familiarize you with the controller i'm gonna go ahead and get the light get the sun this way but this one has all the buttons labeled which makes it that much easier this one's uh basically mode one or more two i think you can set it up headless remote or headless return take a picture take a photo flips and turns it does all those does a little bit acrobatics for you you can uh you can trim it in um usually if it's too windy trimming is kind of a kind of a something that doesn't work really well it has a start and stop button which will take off and land for you and it's really uh really simple to set up so let's go ahead and do it let's go ahead and fly it what i'm going to do is i'll go ahead and get this thing in the air uh using my using my phone so we get the full hd experience all right and i'll do a little bit of a screen capture um but here's the camera right here there's the front facing 1080p camera these looks like look like about five inch props maybe four and a half inch uh the camera is removable and it comes with two batteries in the box see i think i have both batteries in here somewhere i've been flying it around just for fun and i've crashed it a few times and that's okay here's the second battery right here both of them are charged with the usb micro of course you've got prop guards i don't suggest you put those on unless it's a little bit windy or if you're flying indoors and then a whole bag of extra props so there you go uh the unboxing will be at the end so you'll be able to check that out but let's go ahead and fly all right here we go all right clicking on the app here is the app let me go ahead and go out of it really quick the hshs2 fpv app on the on the app store we'll go ahead and just show you how quick it is to set up and launch go ahead and click that on we have to we'll enter the device and what we want to do let's see if we can get it turned in the right direction there we go so i'm clicking on the remote to start we have to get the wi-fi connected up enter device let's go to my phone wi-fi here we go yo that was kind of nice i already found the wi-fi all right so let's go back into the app let's make sure we here we go enter okay are we on yeah let's oh there we were connected there we go now you can find there it is you can see me very nice there it is so let's take off really quick [Music] there it is right there altitude hold let's screen up in the air so you can see there we go a little bit where where we're at go ahead and shut off my other camera and fly around a little bit go ahead and turn this one off we are now on phone camera she's holding really well and let me put it now let me change the speed button to mode two there we go now i'm just gonna fly i'm just gonna fly uh in fpv mode which is way easier and you can see that the video quality is really good this is morning sun i'm probably here let's get some more altitude do a little circle around the field uh we're watching we gotta make sure i'm connecting here turn back there we go the altitude hold seems to be working pretty good a little bit of breakup and that's to be expected but you is very calm right now and we're over there so i gotta come back hopefully we're coming back there we go oh man oh man oh man yeah a little bit too far out so this is a sub 250 and we're flying into the sun so that gives you an idea what our camera there we go so that's where that's pretty much our range right there not bad though not a bad little flyer remember we're uh we're having fun this is a toy there we go and she's nimble very nimble very nimble and i'm going to put up i'm going to set up a camera so you can see her fly here a little bit so i'm going to go ahead bring her in i'm going to bring her in and land for you but very simple to fly and let's see turn it away from me so it's easier to always turn the drone away so you're flying basically away from the drone there we go very cool all right dad random all right i'm still all connected here i'm gonna set this it's actually a perfect place to set it to get a little a little bit of aerial footage all right let's put this up right here so there's our camera wide angle and then we'll take off from the edge of this box here all right all right we good we forward all right so we expect about uh between five and ten minutes of flight time with this quad hit start [Music] about five or ten minutes of flight time you see it there's a full punch left and right very nimble but not overly fast this would be something you could easily fly in your house but i would put prop guards on it not for your not even to protect your furniture just to protect your props now i've crashed this thing several times this thing has been very durable the only thing that happened in a crash was it it lost one of its reflectors it seems like it's holding altitude not too bad for you know barometer altitude hold let's see if i can uh let's bring it back in here let's see if i can get it just stable that's pretty good that's uh basically it's holding its holding its position right there that's pretty that's pretty dang good it's right there not bad we got the sunlight there's its camera facing us of course we're taking video there's it looking at me you can see that you know it's 1080 but it's still a you know it's a toy but we've been flying for quite a bit haven't we i haven't even used a second battery so pretty awesome but if you're learning fpv um this is a really good way of doing it and i'm just and i can i can look straight down on in my camera and just fly fpv mode if you can see that it's always hit and miss but this is the hs110d by holy stone holy stone tends to make pretty good toys and they keep their prices right and that's what i like i know they're improving as a company and that's what i'm excited about they've got a very good line of more advanced drones too it's i think she's coming in she wants to land let's see if i can just let's land her right in front of us here so you can see it kind of setting down there we go pretty safe pretty simple landing here i'm going to turn off my screen capture so if you just check it out really quick some of the cool features that i really like about these props are our screw down type so they have this little tiny set screw single cell battery lipo and what i get about i'd say the max you get 10 minutes this camera is removable if you want and it'll actually function if you wanted to connect it up to a power source an independent power source it'll still work because it's it's totally independent like all these cameras are but this is designed to hit the toy mark it's probably one of the more popular it's very inexpensive toys these can range anywhere from oh about sixty dollars to seventy dollars um i i would say they're right in there in the range where they belong i'd say if you pick this up for about 60 bucks you're in a good you're in good shape i like the controller that it's that it's pre-labeled let's do some flips let's do that all right let's do let's do a little bit acrobatics i'm gonna switch batteries all right here we go all right dad random um so here's the new battery it's all charged up you just clip in they're nice and secure nice and snug um i'm gonna go ahead and get connected back up to my wi-fi here get power see how fast we can get it ready to go um i'm thinking the blinking white lights mean it's linked and then there's blue lights in the back telling you what's in the back in the front um let's see if we can alright so it's already ready to go let me see let's see if my camera is ready to go are you ready to go yeah you're you're recording all right so let's do some flips here we go and this is the flip button right here right here so flip and then move there we go we're gonna go out there let's put it in mode two and then we hit the flip there we go there's the flip uh there's the left hand flip and then i think we can flip right there we go so we can we can pretty much you can do pretty much what all these quads are designed to do and we can get that full we can get that full um you know semi fpv feel and but you can learn to fly with the screen for sure i'm doing line of sight flight right now i'm just i'm ooh okay yeah be careful of your altitude when you're doing flips looks like about 15 feet is the max there you go you see how it drops down there oh man it's like hey so that's still pretty cool that's fun and that's why people like these you know and uh we go we get out of here we get out in the front here and you know you get your dog out with this puppy nah do not uh so get your dog steve i think i'll bring steve out with this but i don't want him to eat it so very easy to fly there we go check that out man i look like a like a professional fpv pilot let's just keep flying this sucker i'm not guys i'm not going to time it i'm just going to have fun with it and that's what it's for guys if you're not flying for fun and you want to learn to fly fpv all right there's a little back flip i think if you're moving forward oh man rolling forward that's pretty cool i i what i do is i'm looking for the i'm looking for there let's do a little let's do a little screen capture before we run out of juice button right here that's video right there i should be taking video right now see allow so i think we're taking video right now taking trying to take some stable video snap some shots now two two clicks is supposed to i do have a battery indicator and i think that battery indicator is for the drone i believe yeah it says it does have a drone battery indicator now you can see it's kind of dark i don't know if i can adjust that there are other are other features for example you can do point to point you can set it up for vr headset there's a vr button take a picture of the red mountain here let's get let's let's go back here let's get a little bit altitude and i want to get a picture of the red mountain in hd there we go that's kind of cool there we go now it's fly the wind is the wind is taking it so i got to be very careful but yeah i suggest that if you're going to fly this thing you fly in the morning there you go bring it back um i i'm hoping the battery indicator is is accurate it's saying i got half a battery so i'm guessing 10 minutes of flight time and it's really important when you're flying these quads that you give it some time you know you give yourself some time to to uh to just get to get a feel of it guys toys are fun man and you don't have to spend a gazillion dollars to fly you really don't these these toys are getting better and better but the holy stone uh 110d i believe we were flying here so and i will flash any information onto the screen at this point but this is the most popular amazon drone i think for price and for uh what you know for learning i mean and it's you know the biggest thing about it is you're getting flight time you're getting two batteries that come standard with the with the basic kit so it says 20 minutes so i'm guessing 10 minutes per and it weighs well under 250 grams it's 150 grams about okay we weighed it last night on my live stream um and it was about it was about 150 grams 155 and changed something like that so now i'm still flying line of sight whoa here we go here we go do a little flyby here we got enough battery for a fly by a camera flyby let's do it let's do a little camera flyby there we go let's bring it into the bringing it back into the picture very nice uh i have not had any any wi-fi break up and i've been in mode two well excuse me mode too yeah with flying mode too most of the time speed two mode two is left uh left throttle but but um it's not let's not get hit let's not get in the tree so very very cool so hopefully you see that hey i'm enjoying this and uh holy stone once again they're they're becoming a legitimate contender in the drone market so i'm gonna go ahead and bring it in and land here in front of you so you can see it land come over here and bring it in and land it right about here now i'm just gonna pull the left stick down so i can control my landing there it is right there pretty easy it's all right there it is holy stone uh go get the box for you guys so you guys can see it once again so once again there it is the holy stone 110d and pretty much has every feature of every toy quad i think the big thing is durability i think the flight time has gotten much better with these the app is exactly what they said about i would say about 250 feet it's very difficult to get more than you know 500 feet and then you'll lose complete control and it does not come back so you want to stay within that flying radius and that's really what it was designed to do so there we go you can check out the features wi-fi fpv altitude hold headless mode six
