up with him and setted us with him in the heavens in christ jesus that in the ages to come god might show the immeasurable riches of his grace and his kindness to us in christ jesus for by grace you prepared in advance that we should live in them the word of the lord thanks be to god please stand hail mother of the lord queen of mercy you are comfort to the world and hope for the downcast [Applause] [Music] the lord be with you and with your spirit a reading from the holy gospel according to luke glory to you o lord each year jesus parents went to jerusalem for the feast of passover and when he was 12 years old they went up according to festival custom after they have completed its days as they were returning home the boy jesus remained behind in jerusalem but his parents did not know it thinking that jesus was in the caravan they journeyed on for a day then they began looking for him among their relatives and acquaintances and when they did not find him they went back to jerusalem to look for him after three days they found jesus in the temple sitting in the midst of the teachers listening to them and asking them questions everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers when his parents saw him they were astonished his mother said to him son why have you done this to us your father and i have been looking for you with great anxiety and jesus said to them why were you looking for me did you not know that i had to be in my father's house but his parents did not understand what he said to them then jesus went with them to nazareth and was obedient to them and his mother treasured all these things in her heart and jesus advanced in wisdom and age and in favor before god and people the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ please visited my dear brothers and sisters in christ the summer fiesta of our lady of the rosary of manawag if it is an event is guided by several guideposts this is the fiesta of 2021 500th anniversary of the first mass in the first baptism in our islands this is the fiesta of our lady on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the ds natalies of the death anniversary of saint dominic this is the 50th anniversary of the dominican province of the philippines the 30th anniversary of the second plenary council of the philippines and 2021 is the 95th anniversary of the canonical coronation of the image of our lady of the rosary of manawag even before the diocese of lingayen was established by pope pius xi these are guide posts to help us reflect on what is it that 2021 offers us celebrating the feast of our lady of manawa and the gospel is the main guiding post the gospel is important although some scripture scholars might have other opinions about the historical value of the gospel of the finding in the temple let us just look at it as a prayer occasion and meditate on it in the light of our lady of the rosary of manawa this gospel is important because this is the first time words are attributed to the lord jesus and what were the first words of jesus as it were to humanity and to the dominican family the lord asked mary and joseph why were you looking for me why were you looking for me why are you afraid you lost me is that enough reason to look for me why are you looking for me you see my power you have experienced my power and you want to receive favors from your son why are you looking for me the implication my dear brothers and sisters is there is only one reason for looking for the lord and it is not fear it is not favor there is only one reason for looking for the lord and it is love that is why on the 800th anniversary of saint dominic we are invited to reflect together the theme a table with saint dominic at the desk we study a table we eat and we do not only eat like a fast food arrangement a table there is fellowship a table there is love you don't like to eat your meal with an enemy you don't like to eat your meal with somebody who does not like you or whom you don't like eating a table and breaking bread together presumes fellowship resumes love and on the 800th anniversary of saint dominic's entry into heaven the question is asked of us why why are you looking for me and the only reason my dear brothers and sisters is because we have partaken of the same table we have sat on the same table we have eaten from the same table and therefore there is love amongst us the table for the meal cannot tolerate arrogance the table for the meal cannot tolerate self-serving motives and ambition that is why judah said to leave because he could not share the fellowship of love why are we here it is only because we love and we choose to love and at the same table with saint dominic we know that it is not only the table of dominic that we partake of we know that the table of saint dominic is also the table of the lord that is why we can be united because the table of saint dominic which gathers us together is actually not original because it is the table of the lord jesus why are you looking for me because we have fallen in love and the best way to show our love is to serve and at the table of saint dominic as we are invited to reflect on his 800th anniversary we are not only invited to sit we are also invited to kneel down at the table and wash one another's feet among those who are seated at table as the lord did at the upper room it is not enough to eat it is very important that we also wash one another's feet because washing serving is the proof of loving and when we are so busy serving one another when we are so busy washing one another's feet then we will not have time for gossip anymore if we are so busy washing one another's feet we will not have time to bloat our stomachs or to fill up our pockets even more we will not have time for glutamine we will not have the time for avarice we will not have the time for unforgiveness because at the table with saint dominic we are not only one in fellowship we are only also one in washing one another's feet why are you here for only one reason love fellowship at the table with dominic and then the lord proceeded with the second question why were you looking for me did you not know i must be in my father's house father's house where is the father's house the father's house is not a building the father's house is where his will is done because we may be inside the church building but if you are disobedient if we are hard-headed if we cannot recognize authority if we do not know how to say yes even if we cannot understand then it cannot be the house of the lord that is why the dominican family puts a lot of primacy puts a lot of value on obedience because if you obey the commandments of god how can you be idolatrous if you obey the commandments how can you disrespect if you obey the commandments how can you kill if you are obedient how can you steal if you're obedient how can you be adulterous and impure if you're gonna be if you're obedient how can you lie if you're obedient how can you covet obedience is the source of all of these and dominic was right obey just obey and the rest will follow because we would not even be able to love if we do not know how to obey where were you looking for me the father's house is where the father is obeyed and where there is obedience god is there god is not only where love is god is also where his will is obeyed and the third question was left and expressed mary and joseph did not understand mary treasured this in her heart the question that mary and joseph wanted to ask is how how can we find you and the answer of the lord is it is mystery it is only by mystery not by analogy it is only by mystery not by argument it is only by mystery not by scientific research it is only by mystery it is only faith in mystery that we can find the lord that is why at his deathbed when dominic said to the brethren do not be anxious do not be afraid because where i am going i will be able to do more for you than what i have done here on earth mysterious prophetic words but they are true because after 800 years from the time of his last breath he continues to do wonders more than what he had done during his lifetime here on earth mystery it is a mystery that after 2 000 years from the lord's ascension the holy spirit continues to guide us it is a mystery that 800 years after his death when he assured us that he will be able to do more in heaven than what he has done here on earth it continues to ring true and it will be true until the end of the ages the question my dear brothers and sisters that our lady perhaps asks you is the same question that jesus asked at the finding in the temple why are you looking for me why are you here where are you looking for me in a pilgrimage church in a sanctuary look for me in an obedient heart and let that obedient heart be your heart how will you find me you can only find me through embracing a deep sense of mystery to understand that nothing can separate us from god i will be able to do in heaven more than what i have done here on earth i will be with you until the end of the ages and the last words of the mother to all of us was do whatever he tells you why are you here because i love you where are you looking for me in my obedient heart how will you find me by embracing and believing in the mystery of your presence saint dominic helped us to obey our lady of manawag help us to love help us to trust help us to keep our hearts pure so that we may always find jesus your son please stand i believe in one god the father almighty maker of heaven and earth of all things visible and invisible i believe in one lord jesus christ the only begotten son of god born of the father before all ages god from god light from light true god from true god begotten not made consubstantial with the father through him all things were made for us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven and by the holy spirit was incarnate of the virgin mary and became for our sake he was crucified under pontius pilate he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures he has ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end i believe i believe in the holy spirit from the father and the son who the father and the son is adored and glorified i believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church i confess my baptism for the forgiveness of sins please neil you are indeed holy oh lord the fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the jew fall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you [Music] in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith [Music] therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you all hopes in him he might become for them the place of victory and the salvation so we in like manner consecrate ourselves to you queen of the most holy rosary you who have chosen to raise your throne of mercy in manawak to be the beloved protectors and the patroness of the province of pangasinan and from there to bestow your graces on us your children vanish in this valley of tears look down with your eyes of mercy upon us who are beset with so many dangers of body and soul despite not our petitions or there is mother but intercede for us before your divine son now end at the hour of our death amen and dominican community is a priory of our lady of the rosary the reverend father stephen vidalia's opie salamat young the theme of our summer fierce celebration is tuloi and that god is with us in our journey but how can we show to each other that god indeed is with us you see every time that the image of the inundation returns to her throne we can almost hear her instructing us do whatever he tells you to do this command to the caretaker given by mary at the wedding at cana to do whatever jesus asked us to do is a way of saying that the good we do for each other is the clearest evidence that god indeed is with us this fiesta is indeed a manifestation that god is with us we're in every deputy every christian every filipino atlanta sadly sometimes when we do god's work some will question our motives color our acts of kindness and even make it difficult for us to preach through action that god indeed is with us when this happens as they are happening now let us not forget the anyway poem ascribed to saint teresa of calcutta in it she wrote if you are kind people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives but be kind anyway because in the final analysis it is between you and your god it was never between you and them anyway so we never tire of finding ways to help the least the last and the lost so as our lady of the rosary of manawat again returns to her throne let us keep in mind two things the assurance that indeed god is with us in the instruction to do whatever it tells us to do finally us in the same manner as we started the dominario in the spirit of gratitude now we also close the celebration with the same spirit of more than ever in this time of pandemic we rely more and more on each other in the preparation and successful celebration of this fiesta for all who made our celebration possible and meaningful beginning with all our employees and volunteers the choirs sacristans eucharistic ministers camareras who celebrated masses with us especially for bishop jack jose and archbishop socrates village and including the lgu of manawag maraming maraming salamat and we keep you constantly in our prayers at this moment i ask you that we offer for them a silent prayer for all the sponsors and benefactors those who donated for flowers investment of abu bakr for all who offered massachusetts throughout the venario for all who have shown their kindness and extended their generosity we keep you constantly in our prayers and at this moment we offer a silent prayer for the well-being of all the devotees of our lady of the rosary of manawak we keep you constantly in our prayers and at this moment we offer a silent prayer for their well-being lastly we thank our lord who entrusted us to his mother and we thank our mother who never tire assuring us that god is with us in our journey and dominican community of our lady of the rosary of manawak maraming maraming salamat balbala foreign foreign foreign [Music] oh [Music] [Applause]
