the holy spirit the grace of our lord jesus christ love of god and the communion of the holy spirit be with you all and with your spirit good morning everyone good morning father we offer this mass this altar i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault be raised up on the third day then to all he said if anyone who wants to be a follower of mine let him renounce himself and take up his cross every day and follow me for anyone who wants to save his life will lose it but anyone who loses his life for my sake that man will save it what gain then is it for a man to have won the whole world and have lost or ruined his very self the gospel of the lord christ [Music] we have a very fast life fast paced lifestyle in our country everything moves on quickly and you can see that already we are into into the month of march all that i remember is christmas see the problem with such a fast paced life is that a spiritual self lags behind if we are not careful we have so much to worry so much to fret about that we forget sometimes the most imp most important thing in our life that our relationship with god so therefore jesus says or wants us what good is it for us to have everything in life but have ruined our very self at the end of the day so holy church holy mother church gives this time the lent as a time to slow down to contemplate reflect and mend our relationship with god primarily and then with our brothers and sisters so that a spiritual self that is lagging so behind may catch up with our physical self now this happens in many situations for example when we were students in the seminary we used to have something called recollection day every three months or so and the very nature of that recollection day was we go away from the seminary spent a whole day or two days in prayer without worrying about any of the studies and any of the other activities and it was true that when we were so much drawn into studies and so many assignments and essays to be written we slowly start missing our prayer life we sleep in a bit and we are too tired to pray and all of that and those two days would refresh us normally and bring us back into the normal rhythm of catching up uh spiritual life with our physical life so this time 40 days is a time for all of us to take a slow pace not saying that we should forget about our daily commitments and daily job and all that but it should not be at the expense of our spiritual life and our relationship with jesus because today and tomorrow and day after will pass but our souls will not so at the end of the day what matters is the nature and the state of our soul so our lord jesus calls us to follow him by carrying the cross of our daily lives after him and to interest to him all those who suffer so let us pray through him jesus let your cross be our salvation that as members of the church we may imbibe in our lives the spirit of the cross and be willing to suffer for the sake of christ and the gospel let us pray to the lord jesus let your cross be our salvation that the leaders of our country may hear the cries of suffering people and makes your commitment to the eradication of oppression and exploitation in society let us pray to the lord jesus let your cross be our salvation that those who are suffering the poor the sick the handicapped and prisoners may never fall into despair but experience the comfort of god's love let us pray to the lord jesus let your cross be our salvation that those who are alone in life may find companions who are willing to help them bear their crosses let us pray to the lord jesus let your cross be our salvation that our beloved dead may be one with god and their loved ones in heaven for all eternity let us pray to the lord jesus let your cross be our salvation god our father the passion and death of your son brought life to the world help us to recognize the crosses and sufferings not just in the great trials of life but in day-to-day choices as well we make this prayer through christ our lord all his holy church regard with favor o lord we pray the offerings we set upon this sacred altar that bestowing on us your pardon our oblations may give honor to your holy name through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god for you have given your children a sacred time for the renewing and purifying of their hearts that freed from disordered affections they may so deal with the things of this passing world as to hold rather to the things that eternally endure and so with all the angels and saints we praise you as without end we acclaim holy holy holy holy lord god of us heaven and earth are full of your glory in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord osana in the highest you are indeed holy o lord the fond of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a profess your resurrection until you come again therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of fullness of charity together with francis our pope gregor bishop and all the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face our mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god with the blessed joseph her spouse with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased to you throughout the ages we may merit to be coerced to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever amen at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ jesus christ who said to your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will believe and reign forever and ever may the peace of the lord jesus christ be with you always and with your spirit let us turn to each other and offer a sign of peace lamb of god you take away the sins of the world have mercy on lamb of god you take
