Holy Hour in Preparation for Consecration to Mary, Mother of the Church

Paul speaks of Jesus as the second Adam the new Adam that stands at the head of a new creation that Jesus is renewing us we've fallen into sin we need grace we need Redemption were made new in him transformed new creations in Christ as we have a new Adam it's fitting that we have a new Eve at the head of a new humanity and Mary's role is to be our mother to foster this life of grace that he is obtaining for us that she is a media tricks she's an intercessor and her role is to bring us these gifts of eternal life that she herself in a mysterious way participates in a you know in obtaining them for us in a unique way so her mother of the church her spiritual maternity preserves this analogy of motherhood Jesus uses the term mother and and maybe in our culture today it seems in our media we really don't champion the idea of motherhood it's not too exciting for us and that's a very sad state of affairs because it's a great vocation Cardinal Ms NT the Hungarian Cardinal who was tortured and suffered for the church he wrote a beautiful book on motherhood and this is what he says he says the word has its own special sound in every language it weeps and laments like a distant magic trumpet it rejoices like the small golden bells and the chimes and we when we pronounce this word our heart is on our lips there is in it the laughter of childhood even when spoken by an old man is there a creature to whom we are more bound more intimately heart and soul than mother is there another word that can move us more deeply the longer we live the more the world unfolds before us the we are overcome with the wonder of motherhood the more we learn about life the more beautiful and more replete with meaning is the word mother to be a mother means to comfort and help mothers on earth to ameliorate suffering and help bear it she sacrifices her patients love health and life she presses you to her heart when a beautiful expression she watches over you she teaches you to talk to love and laugh and the cold of winter she warms your tiny fingers in her hands she feeds you milk as an infant and bread when you have grown in fact she gives life always when you Lisp mother and she answers my baby even God must rejoice in his soul even God must rejoice in his soul at this creation of his this mother had this bond bond as father Leonard mentioned to us at dinner that night you don't even if you've lost your mother she's passed on she can still have this closeness and intercession for us from heaven and see to our needs how much more does the mother of God how much more does our Heavenly Mother as I quoted in the rosary meditations that you know st. Louis de Montfort said if you take all the love of the mothers in the world that's doesn't equal the love that Mary has for each one of us she's the heavenly perfect mother that's interceding for us st. Therese would say that the loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a mother the Saint Leopold Mandich patron of confessors would write we have in heaven the heart of a mother the Virgin our mother who at the foot of the cross suffered as much as possible for a human creature she understands our troubles console and consoles us so this great work of God this great creation of God we have in heaven this heart of a mother that cares for us has bonded to us and loved marry his mother the church her title there it's rooted in her divine maternity that she is the mother of God that as the mother of Christ Jesus is the head of the mystical body and we the members of the body of Christ so we shared being her children he assumed human nature he in a mysterious way United himself to each one of us at the Incarnation and as she became his mother there she also becomes our mother she gives her Fiat for the Holy Spirit to overshadow or she becomes the handmaid of the Lord she gives herself in virginity to God and becomes a mother has this mysterious fruitfulness to the work of the Holy Spirit this Fiat this being a handmaid of the Lord leads her to Calvary where she stands in faith at the foot of the cross lovingly consenting in the emulation of her son offering up her son according to the divine plan for our salvation and in this act of charity of Jesus and dying for us this outpouring of charity our motherhood is caught up in that burning charity Vatican 2 describes it as and it's transformed and it's deep and it's it's made universal it's taken up in the order of salvation that her motherhood now is going to be about bringing us interceding for us to bring us these gifts of eternal life and that if she is on a pilgrimage of faith herself she is going to cooperate Vatican 2 says by her obedience Faith Hope and burning charity and the work of the Savior in giving back supernatural life to souls where for she is our mother in the order of grace from the heart of redemption she is given to us as a mother in the Mediatrix of all graces she does this in one way certainly by her prayers and by her witness to a life of virtue she shines forth so the whole community of the elect as a model of virtue she we echoes Vatican Council said she react owes in herself the greatest teachings of of our faith that after participating in the redeeming sacrifice of her son in such an intimate way she has proclaimed mother of mankind continues to fulfill her maternal function as the cooperator in birth and development of believers so she in herself if you ever study mary ology you quickly learn that it just involves every aspect of theology so she and her person witnesses to the truth of who Christ is as the son of god it is sufferings that are redemptive for us you know in her complete surrender to God's will that was not a life that was that she was protected from suffering she's taken right into the heart of suffering as a mother at the foot of the cross having to stand there in faith and consent in this I've heard many mothers talk about how they relate to Mary in that way sometimes they might struggle with Marian devotion but they can connect with her in a special way and suffering for their children so she has this maternal cooperation she witnesses to Christian virtues and again Saint Torres would say that in trial or difficulty I have recourse to mother Mary whose glance alone is enough to dissipate every fear whose glance alone is enough to dissipate every fear because of that bond a mother has with her child we know in our faith in our devotion to her we experience that glance we experience that close this and it strengthens us just the glass just to know that she's present in our life she's strengthened us she will not abandon us in her cross and our crosses in our life she'll stand with us and she witnesses to how we are to stand in faith as well and bearing the cross we see in her own Immaculate Conception the Holy Spirit brought her extraordinary grace at her virginal conception of the word again the Holy Spirit overshadows her and that at Pentecost in acts we're told that she is there by name we're told she is there in the Upper Room and the Holy Spirit again overshadows the church which she is a preeminent member and she is made fruitful she has given grace to dispense to all of us to all of her children and she witnesses it to us by her own life you know to have a life of surrender to God self offering of strength and bearing sorrows a fidelity of tireless devotion she is the handmaid we are to be tireless and serving the Lord in the kingdom and she will be there to support and encourage us and to bestow upon us the grace that God has won for us and gives us through her Immaculate Heart in the name of the father to the son of the Holy Spirit the litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary lord have mercy on us Christ have mercy on us lord have mercy on us Christ hear us Christ
