I'm having a ton of fun in Hogwarts Legacy and there's so many things I learned after playing 50 plus hours today we're gonna go over all of the beginner friendly tips you should know including things that the game doesn't make immediately obvious I also wanted to congratulate the two winners for the previous deluxe edition giveaways and to celebrate the game's massive success I'm starting a brand new one for another deluxe edition upgrade that you can take part even if you already got the basic Edition in case you want the exclusive item pack all you have to do is to be sub to the channel leave a like on this video and comment down below but let's begin with a few quick starter tips an easy early way to make sure you navigate fast to your next objective is to use the field guide tracking mechanic which you can do by simply pressing the arrow up button on the d-pad once you have chosen an objective this will pop this cool page that leaves a trail behind that you can easily follow for the shortest route possible to your destination also a quick tip for a value on top of the fact that it's great for revealing interactable stuff behind walls it also Works while flying on your Mount and it does so even better so if you're on a mount if you pull your value not only will it highlight objectives but also points of interest without having to enter the map menu in fact there's many points of interest that you can show this way that aren't even visible on the map until you actually get much closer to them eventually I also recommend getting revalue Mastery to extend the range even more which you can do so by picking it from the core talent tree another quick one is that the game doesn't make it obvious that you can sleep anywhere you want both for skipping time but also to Advanced quests all you have to do is to enter the map menu in any Zone and then on the controller press the R3 button to have the Sleep message pop up and then just sleep to the next day this is useful for events or creatures that only spawn during the night time but also to progress certain missions there's some characters that will mention at the end of their previous Quest that they will contact you later for the next step and you can quickly have them contact you back by just sleeping quickly and finally you can quickly pull up the cloak for most of the robes and The Capes in game by simply pressing the triangle while hovering over that category it's really awesome I did not even know this until much later but you can pull up the cloak assuming that piece of gear has one to begin with moving on to number two make sure you focus on your classes and then the actual assignments first by defaults the main classes only teach you a handful of important spells but assignments are what come after kind of like homework and they will teach you the majority of the things that you're missing for the most part they involve collecting and using the special potions or plants in the game or defeating certain enemies in certain ways which is shown by the requirements page like I said before you can make some of these quicker and cheaper if you're in a hurry by simply buying the ingredients needed from any of the Hogs meat vendors I would also say that as you progress new puzzles will require more advanced spells so it's always a good idea to go there prepared which also brings me to point number three as you get more of these spells you'll notice that your initial for spell grid will no longer suffice so to get more you will actually need to head over to the core talents menu and grab the grid upgrades number one two and three that you can see displayed here at level five you can already have two extra ones for three grids in total and by 16 you can unlock the fourth and final one this means 16 slotable spells in total that you can switch at any given time but yeah there's 26 kills in total so maybe one of them is something that you will keep to switch between every now and then when you're taking part in new activities now at some point you will unlock the mounts with the first one being the broom early on from the broom flying lesson this only teaches you the broom flight you'll actually need to buy a broom on your own which you do for about 600 galleons from LB weeks on your first visit in Hall bugs meat quick tip it's boost meter at first only stays filled if you fly closer to the ground but then depletes faster at higher altitudes so if you want to use this batter it's better to just stick closer to the ground luckily there are upgrades for the broom challenges that open up later and this is going to both boost your speed and your agility with them but also let you boost at much higher altitudes once you get them this isn't only flying mounts that you get the next one is high Wing the hippogriff that you might have seen early on but this comes a bit later from the mission called the high keep that you do with Natty so once you do that mission and get the mount this is when you're going to open up Mount travel on top of your broom which is also going to give you access to your pre-order hippogriff and the thestral mount assuming that you also got the deluxe edition meanwhile for the grab horn this comes in much later for the most part and it's a ground combat Ally Only being capable of charging through enemies for some pretty serious damage it is much bigger than all the other mounts and it looks really nice but it's a little bit more gimmicky than the rest now if you're in a dire need for money and can't afford all of these things then you should hit the disillusionment chest especially once you got the invisibility spell from Sebastian in the secrets of the restricted section main story Mission also quite early on each of these chests provide 500 galleons and if you want a quick Farm route besides the castle a much faster one is in hogsmeade pretty much all these buildings both inside and around them and also some of them on the streets levels you're going to see lots of them popping up so just use the invisibility grab them really quickly and you can make thousands super easily also making sure to sell the gear that you don't need is another excellent way of making some extra cash I would not really worry too much about the gear since you replace it so easily as it's abundant in a lot of the areas just make sure that you don't just throw your items when your inventory becomes full instead sell them first but it's not worth it to sacrifice them like I said in my early unlocks video it's better to hit a few of the Merlin trials around the map to get more inventory space from its respective challenge but once the map opens up this is when things become a lot more interesting and you will see that every single zone will have several main objectives and a few dozen points of interest depending on the zone for the most part these involve the trials all of these camps of enemies and a few more extras on top but I want to start things off with the Bandit cams and also a few combat tricks that will make your life easier the first one is to make sure to master protect go and specifically the perfect protego which you do with the triangle on the controller when an enemy is about to attack you a spidey sense kind of effect will appear around your character's face and you'll basically want to time your button press just as the circle is about about to close if you pull this off at the right time not only do you reflect back some of that damage and potentially break the enemy's Shield right away but also do this higher AOE and even like stun some of the other enemies would stupefy ones to do it perfectly it also works for the melee attacks by the way coming from some of these Goblin enemies you just need to make sure that the color displayed by all of these effects are with the brownish one and not red as that one is unblockable for these red attacks in stats there are a few counters that are not completely defenseless against so one of them is for the goblin Rangers which have this annoying unblockable ranged attack but you can actually pull the bolt out of their crossbows when they attack you by just using the R1 button during that attack animation comes in quite handy when you tend to be overwhelmed by them another one is for the Executioner enemies some of these can cast the devastating fire tornadoes or lightning strikes but you can actually make them hit themselves with their own spells for massive damage do so just make sure to cast Expelliarmus while they charge the attack so you have to do it during that animation before it lands to make them hit with your own magic looks very satisfying and it almost one shots them most of the time another combat tip against enemy Shields is that you can also use your ancient magic throw instead of like coupling your spells with the color of the shields in case you're on a cooldown you can't use them yet or you just don't have the collar especially for the red shields the R1 and throwing things from the environment in them works just as well now character progression is going to be even more important even though it's a bit more simplistic than some of the other RPGs it's still going to be very impactful especially starting around level 16 when you have all of this stuff in the room of requirements ready for you so the first one is going to be the loom and this is where you upgrade both the level as well as the defenses and the damage on your various pieces of gear usually higher grade gear like the legendaries or the epics come with both of these stats though for one of them you will need to do one of those three upgrades before they unlock but they give you the extra passives like either the damage or the defenses so trust me especially at level 3 it starts to become a lot more noticeable the further you progress with your build you'll also want to use the mods that you can access with a triangle button and this is going to give you access to some of these really cool gems you can place onto the gear most of them will provide bonuses to various spells such as giving you more damage but they can also provide defenses against certain types of enemies and especially so the level 3 ones are absolutely crazy that's why I recommend focusing on the ones or the Spells you use the most and I recommend incendio or bombarda maybe even the pool so since these are some of the most powerful and by the way you can get more higher grade mods by simple hitting some of these enemy cams that you will see all around the map all of them will feature a collection chest that will guarantee that these will drop from them so it's one of the main ways besides just playing the game to get them more reliably and finally this brings us to the room of requirement itself as I've said this will provide a ton of the useful upgrades not just the loom one of the first is the vivarium which there's going to be four of in total as you progress through it and through its missions but here is where you can store all of your creatures it's going to be very important to capture every single creature that you see or at the very least the three starting ones that I already mentioned including the moon calves the jobber nose and the needles you can of course see my previous video on this where to find them but you should always try to get them in pairs both male and female because this is also going to let you breed them later for a third specimen to give you even more materials needed for that crafting and especially so for the mini a game if you want to more easily capture them I recommend using levioso early or even arrest the momentum later on to ensure that they are kept busy and don't run away while you complete the mini game for some of the bigger beasts is going to require multiple button presses so if you can save some of that time it's totally going to be worth it do keep in mind that whatever you do the vivarium is going to be limited at only four different species at the same time you can put up to 12 Beasts of the same species as long as you stay in that four category but if you try to exceed it it's not going to be possible totally stay tuned if you want to see more Hogwarts Legacy content on the channel and if you want to see another video that's helpful early on check out my early unlocks one that will help you with some of the starting basic skills that you will definitely need thanks so much for watching and I'll see you in the next one
