Hillsborough County Commission takes no action regarding McMansion permit

airs on Lake Carroll say their neighbors are really ruining their view and violating the county's Building Code at the same time with their McMansion going up next door and as our i-team first reported last week county commissioners demanded answers ABC Action News investigator Adam Walzer has was there today when they got them this concrete block wall we look out our kitchen window now and just see this massive Walmart wall it's part of the 76 hundred square foot home going up on Lake Carol replacing a house a third its size 10:59 mf3 after neighbors complained to county commissioners that it blocked their view and violated the county code the staff was asked to explain well they've requested a permit for an addition remodel to the structure the i-team learned at least 95 percent of the home was replaced anything over 50 percent is not considered a remodel two small pieces of wall were all that remained but that allowed it not to have to conform with side setback rules it was permanent as a new structure with the existing walls remaining the county has been saying this was a remodel and today we heard it was new construction well it's new construction you can't build this the structure was also allowed to be 15 feet into the 30 foot required wetland setback since the county doesn't consider it a permanent structure the actions we've taken have been consistent with the past interpretations of the code Friends of the new homes owners mark and Norma tempest wore yellow buttons at today's meeting to show support mark tempest read from a prepared statement after the commissioners took no action in the matter we just want to build our house for our family thank you very much is it a new construction or a remodel I was hoping that they would admit that they issued the permits in error neighbors gene and Roxanne kazursky say they're disappointed this is a horrible precedent and you know I think everyone needs to be real concerned about it I'm i-team investigator Adam Walter taking action for you
