Hide n Seek in Mario Odyssey is Hilarious (Online Multiplayer)

super mario odyssey has always felt like the kind of game that would be phenomenal to have full-on multiplayer support now i don't mean what they currently have in game with mario and cappy i mean full-on multiplayer where you can explore the game with four of your friends as mario luigi wario and waluigi unfortunately nintendo does not share that dream so this will have to do introducing the super mario odyssey online multiplayer mod a work in progress project by the legendary mod maker craftyboss that enables you and three other friends to play hide and seek inside of super mario odyssey i got the opportunity recently to try out the current version of the mod with him cj and smolin and it was hilarious he's right next to the odyssey he's rolling [Music] the idea was that we would play through a set of four kingdoms with each of us getting one kingdom we would start as the seeker the three remaining hiders would have one minute to find somewhere in the kingdom to hide with their goal to be the last player found and tagged once a hider is tagged they too would become a seeker and tasked with finding the remaining players for scoring we all had timers tracking how long we were seekers and the player with the least time as the seeker would be crowned the winner for this round our first kingdom would be the beautiful steam gardens for the sake of simplicity we banned the use of deep woods but that still left plenty of space to hide small ants started counting and i immediately went to the first place that came to mind this linear section that's normally only accessible with the capture part of the rules we set for the game was that we could only capture specific things like wires so they'd only be able to find me here if they knew you could wall jump up the back so i figured it might be a pretty good hiding spot boy was i [ __ ] wrong but we'll get to that later small ant was on the hunt all right here we go i'm going that's it that's 60 seconds my time has started okay someone is ground pounding i think and it's like shaking my screen crafty stop ground pounding it's not me i swear okay i believe you for now okay cj where's your guess for me i want to see are you going to it now i may be going to it now yes i wanna see how well you know me because i had this idea almost done oh i found crafty no you did it okay okay i think i know where cj might be i have a hunch now yeah i i think i i think i know where you are now yeah now where is oh i heard someone bonk oh i hear like that was that was a misclick just don't worry about it yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah just like this where did you oh yeah i might have fox maybe i don't know no you're nowhere near me yeah i'm at the starting area also hey cj [Applause] yeah okay i'm going i'm going he's on top of the the the cliff the cliff i was hiding on top of the nut on the tree i hit the notes oh oh no okay okay i'm gonna i'm gonna i think i can get to him uh he's right next to the odyssey he's rolling right back i see him oh god i'm back here i'm lagging [ __ ] i didn't get the fireflies oh [Music] ah i get back [Music] [Applause] my game is ready to get like 2 fps i have a fire flower somehow i apparently we do did i give you guys fire bars i think you may have what did you oh god i can't jump i'm bad oh my god where is he up here he went up into the if i could i don't i i don't have he's gone i've lost him oh my god oh my god where did he go the nut clip area there we go thank you oh holy sh you sound like you're having a fun time over there receiving oh they both are chasing me i like couldn't see them half the time it was so freaking scary unfortunate that i lost track of you you're not allowed to go into the area where you have to give up cappy right yeah i think you're allowed that's fine i'm just gonna go check oh hello you found him no i'm just kidding about it you're so done there's no way out for you are here forever you can only wait for so long it doesn't matter oh my god i cannot believe i'm alive i should have i should have thought about my escape plan more that's what my chat was saying let's go yeah there's literally no way out of that dang it dude oh that sucks all right uh uh he was right at the nutclip at that he was right beside you apparently so i've been told oh my god my heart is still like pouting oh i know where he went i bet okay someone i'm gonna check flooded pipes someone wait outside flooded pipes wait is the is the exit it's the exit it's right beside the little yellow pillar thing okay okay there's no one in flooded pipes we're good you can go all right all right i don't need an exit strike because i'm the last one and i can just stall i can jump on the bullet build things i i thought i could jump up here but i don't think you can i think they changed that in superstar until they find me over here i'm just trying to run their timers up as much as possible have we checked like the tower area uh not really i mean i don't know if he had time to go there but yeah if you want to check that you can check the tower area back to where he was hiding maybe he was hiding on the on the nut on the back of the nut right back you're laughing which means you might no i'm checking oh uh i don't see up there oh the game just crashed no oh wait i found him i found him he's in the bull built some area built up area i think he's dead i think he's dead there's no way he's making another oh they're all broken for me okay okay you're so done you're so done because guess what yeah i respond did you kill yourself yeah oh my gosh that was good i can't believe i got away from you guys and with that round one was over we had small end on the board with eight minutes 45 seconds crafty boss with eight minutes four seconds me with two minutes 24 seconds and finally cj getting a perfect round and accumulating zero seconds as the seeker cj really carried this round escaping crafty boss and smalling while i on the other hand choked hard with a hiding spot that had no real exit but hey two minutes and 24 seconds wasn't much we still had plenty of room to win this and god i was gonna give it my all up next was lost kingdom with crafty being the seeker now compared to wooded kingdom lost is pretty dang small but there are tons of different nooks and crannies to hide in that aren't entirely obvious i decided that i was going to hide just under the spinning propeller pillar now at a glance you might think this is a bad spot but when standing on top of them it's nearly impossible to see under the propeller so chances are i'd only be found to somebody decided to look up at me from below this time i felt ready okay five four three two one all right i'm going is is he going are we going okay time to spend another 10 minutes looking for everything where did he go i actually just have no idea where to start looking it doesn't help the fact that my switch is like running at 2fps for some reason weird he's a lot of foliage i think i've got a decent spot i don't know about you guys i mean i'd say i like myself hiding in the exact spot that he was waiting he will never check here okay i was almost there at the end what if they were standing behind the pipe that would have sucked oh well guess i'm not checking how's your spots man absolutely brilliant yeah yeah i think so i think so brilliant diamond are you sure smith i i see you right now i mean it's pretty good is it isn't it it's pretty good do you guys hear that what bonking yeah bonking yeah no [ __ ] shot are you kidding me how do i get there [Laughter] what there's no way i can make it to that island that's impossible is he on the glide on island yes oh my god without what that's all i can wait how'd you see me i saw you uh bonking oh [ __ ] i was too bored oh man i didn't think you could see me so she's [ __ ] around you're gonna have to wait until i catch someone else because there's a there's like a zero to the negative oh god he's coming oh you're gonna make it come on oh my god oh what what what oh no that is brutal that's rough i hit the slingshot because i got scared uh i think i mean wait did it bring everyone to it yeah yeah should we just reset yeah let's just try that again so as it turns out the multiplayer mod has some issues with how it handles slingshots and cj trying to use one as a means of escape actually brought everyone out of their spots into it now this was a pretty big problem so we decided to completely restart lost kingdom from the top and all went back to our hiding spots but that didn't matter because i was still incredibly confident we could win this round oh hey fur what good spot where are you no i just wanted to come i don't know where you are that's why you know i i can't walk it's going here i did the same thing to you oh you're frozen for me do you need a reset server at some point i could i could just restart the server it's not dead yet but uh oh now you're moving there again i was just uh am i are we are we still troubleshooting am i good to go i think we're good okay okay go oh hey uh-oh how you doing no you find someone yeah i was i was hiding in the purple coin spot under the uh rotating things oh yeah those purples are so easy to miss they're like invisible oh no no yes oh that sucks thank you for double bonking yeah that was where i went wrong i guess i did i i bonked and then i double bonked oh i've got oh i think fern knows where i am uh well i did yeah i can hear i can hear mario wahoo's uh i'm dead i'm not dead wait so it's just cj and i that haven't been found yeah okay that's correct i mean i did find cj but i'm bad okay well fur don't you know where samantha is no i have no idea i i lied when i said that earlier oh yeah i was like how could you see me there's like i'm in a freaking hole come on we gotta find him faster my time doesn't go i guess so all of our timers don't go up i'm gonna stay here i'm gonna commit to this fully yeah i don't think we've checked the one by i spawn i found him i found him at spawn he's hanging off the ledge had spawned by the koopa free running he's saying hanging off the ledge by the king of free running or he was but i died so i don't know i'm chasing i'm chasing i'm chasing him i saw those he's on the freaking figure come here you [ __ ] oh you won't catch me oh my god i just hear everyone jumping all right i'm gonna cut him off he's down at shards no i died god damn it he's got it [Applause] i was on my perch i was watching you guys all right i was there near the odyssey and all of a sudden i was like he loves to hang off the sides and i just saw the fingertips yeah i just waited right behind crafty until he left and then i had to where he counted down okay i may have been wrong about that round and smaller may have taken it by a landslide his strategy to hide on the ledge at the beginning after the secret left was actually phenomenal because none of us really thought to check back there until he was the last one left and as a result the total times we've all been seeker were as follows cgn first me and second small and third and crafty and fourth now this might look incredibly favorable to me and cj but both of us haven't started as the seeker and with our preset order i would be the seeker next and we'd be headed to snow kingdom now you might think snow kingdom is an easy kingdom to be a seeker in right well not exactly the kingdom is divided into three major sections the overworld cheveria and the boundable grand prix area and within these sections there are a total of 11 different sub-rooms players can hide in and not to mention some of these suburbs take like a minute to get through so i really want to win this match but if i'm gonna prove that i am the super mario odyssey hide and seek champion i was going to need to find them fast especially cj five get out of here don't come in here this is mine i was here first no you weren't oh i looked up i left us oh you were all right well we're sharing that you what all right all right my timer started again i'm going through it yeah i don't know i know you do get through the side oh it pushes you to the side is that what it is yeah well eventually you clip through the side it's a good hiding spot it is a good spot easy to escape is the thing yeah what if i just hit left on the d-pad right now would that be so mean we're matching wow oh how cute you're falling faster oh there we go we're pretty no we're perfectly in sync for me i'm going below you oh yeah you're sneaking a little bit faster wait are you holding i'm not holding anything we are totally make sure you don't press zl and d-pad right at the same time just don't don't do that there's like no way he doesn't know where we are at this point yeah for sure we've kind of been using the worst language possible see i i wish i did [Music] what is this how what is the the name of this character that we have created it's just arya are really canceled w and the m cancel each other yeah oh we were perfectly in sync for mikanda oh that's pretty good it's pretty good for you oh yeah what are you i'll keep on i hate this do we give him a hint we are in a sub area we are not a scenario okay yeah and you are not very in shavaria i feel like technically you're right yeah well uh i guess i should not have gone into cheveria because i don't think anyone's in here i think i know where crafty is you work how you can't see him from here for go into the bound bowl area like right before you find the sad steel guy and uh and they get crafty's in the snow where the points are no he already been there why would you say that i don't want you to get fouled no [Laughter] hmm that's true i guess there is a sub area in shibuya but well we we can because it's probably unlocked right no is it wait what oh it's crafty crap you get found oh he's gonna get him wait isn't it are you saying something crap wait what the oh my god what yeah ow yo what did you just what just happened i'm so confused oh [ __ ] now this is this would be just so hard to hit even if you could get to me i guess maybe not what happens if i pull up what are you guys saying what do you mean wait did cj just like die no he he uh he did what i did wait what you just hit the no way he's pulling up i can't oh no oh i can't move left or right when i'm in like that oh that's why i got pulled up because yeah i hit right now you got to be thinking fur and crafty boss are going to find small ant and cj any moment now i checked the vods we literally went into every god forsaken sub area before even thinking about checking above the clouds for those who don't know the areas cj and smallit are hiding in can only be accessed by taking this nut and planting it inside of this pot to grow a giant beanstalk and for whatever reason me and craftyboss forgot this place existed for nearly 10 whole minutes yes smallie and cj were goofing off in this room for 10 whole minutes well we couldn't find them and if you remember what i said earlier about the score this was not good for me there's got to be a sub area where you can make some sort of crazy trick jump and then you're like in an area that's just impossible to get to you guys said you're in the submarine right we are in a sub area yes our spot is too good i feel bad there's like two suburbs oh my god i'm so sorry cj is a seeker he's not on purpose oh wait it's fine it's fine it's fine tj it's fine i i i respond in the sub area yeah i forgot i killed that guy i think i know where they are do you um you know this library that you have to push a block to like get the door open i think i don't think they can get in there because you need to capture it i i think you can clip out of bounds yeah we said we could do that with the capture though right that's right i forgot you can't do that never mind are you safe cj i'm safe i'm safe okay not making the same mistake twice wait maybe it's a moon pipe area i don't i don't remember any of the moon pipes all right uh there's something i need you to do crafty what's your timer after uh go to the odyssey okay okay okay now uh go down the hill towards the plant that's not the odyssey oh i went i went to the mall oh spank go go go he's here he's here he's here before crafting into position no what wait what who died me that doesn't count probably it's fine let's go i died in the air yeah oh the nut sub area i nut jump to get into it that's what it's taking me so long perfect escape for wait you do not jump to get into it i just i just remembered that i could not jump so i just started not jumping cj's by the uh the cappy pond there's that many places did you guys see me escape i didn't see an escape with you yeah i can't believe this is he oh there he is he's going around the outskirts still can you try to kill off oh i'm so dead there's no way i'm making it there's no way i'm making it dude tanner live on for me i'm gonna do it i'll survive i got a good hiding spot oh are you going to right all yes all right i have a feeling small aunt never left the suburb so just wait at the bottom oh wait that's a good point i'm getting the nut i realized as i jumped in that i was to take false stuff did he get out you just died yeah i died in the air oh yeah yeah so there's uh i'm guessing oh there he is calculations oh god curious um if you exit a sub area that has or you go into an area that has a seeker in it and you're a hider uh you immediately die oh pretty much you all catch me you paused the game what's happening what you started the timer challenge wait that's actually so funny oh my gosh oh that was actually the play all right he's back before running come here although i fell i got too ambitious okay he went into the the trace walking all right i'll go in you guys stay out here crafty just stand right where i'm standing okay okay okay wait he was getting he's right it was unfortunate all my effort in one quick round turned to dust or had it i didn't start just to quit the odds were stacked against me but i knew i had what was needed to win this so i'm going to do what i sent out today to do and that's win some [ __ ] mario odyssey hide and seek the plan was simple i just needed the best freaking hiding spot ever conceived in csun kingdom and the spot i had was perfect in the back of the kingdom there's a pool of water you can take to enter a sub-area this sub-area is basically entirely filled with water but at the very end there exists a cave now there's a good chance that smallnet and cj and crafty boss would never think of somebody hiding here since this is somewhere you never go in any super mario odyssey speedruns there is a catch however the pipe on top of the lighthouse lets you enter into the cave through the back which was exactly where i was hiding but the only other way to get to the top of the lighthouse is by warping which is an ability only seekers have fortunately for me almost no seekers have been using this ability throughout the day the spot was perfect all right in five four three two one i'm coming boys i'm coming another did i go on somewhere that they're actually gonna kill me i'm just gonna die immediately um i might just die immediately because of somewhere yeah i'm dead well boys it looks like we aren't winning this one i thought i had interesting spots and good ideas but most of them just fell flat as it turns out sometimes when you give it your all it just ain't enough but maybe if i had another chance i could seize the day and get that victory i always wanted but wait i do get another chance i wouldn't be able to win this round but there were more matches to be had as a matter of fact smalling and cj would both be uploading their own rounds of hide and seek that i would be playing in there was still a chance no i couldn't win on my own youtube channel but maybe just maybe i could kick some ass on one of theirs and with that hope of kicking some ass deep down in my heart i knew i could finish this round with dignity yeah i i guess uh i'm uh i'm the seeker now that's uh that's something i got to find like a non-obvious spot for the summer what a miss boy i really don't well i just fell off of a sub area oh my god this doesn't even oh my gosh come on man i found a really good spot and now we're just bad at moving smalling how are you feeling to have three seekers already i feel good i feel good which sub-area wasn't crafted the one with the spineys and it's like amazing you have to hit cappy i'll tell you i am not in a sub-area oh and i can see at least one of you i swear if you're down here i'm gonna be upset i can see two of you i really love just the 10 fps oh it's lagging so bad i am not in the water you're not i'm not in the water no i was afraid you were going to be in the kappa the capulets area who's an 8-bit me oh yeah it makes a noise when he does that i forgot yeah i thought maybe he was in the 8-bit area i actually pretty much like not to stride because of that one problem yeah yeah i think i see everyone on my screen right now yeah i see literally everyone on my screen he's in the he's in the chalice isn't he no i checked oh really that's the first thing i checked he's gonna be somewhere up high oh he's that's uh captain toad is he i was gonna get there first wait how did you get up there i don't know how you got up there yeah i know that there's a way okay jump off so we should all get here first that way we can die yeah so you go you go up and grab them they'll stay down here actually no that's pretty i don't want to get up to captain toad oh no i don't i think i know how to get up there i think i've done it before no you have where are you guys right not not without the moon uh where are you guys right now i'm right under captain toad it is lagging so bad wait did you use the the captures get up here yes oh my god yes you're kidding me i was so close i was literally watching you trying to like gauge where everyone else was lying about how i didn't know how to get up there how do we kill you no i said i said fur was the only one that could jj cj why are you trying the harder way to get up there why don't you just use it it's not that hard i'm just [ __ ] up because of the goddamn lag yeah yeah blame it on the lag okay i think i was a seeker i i mean i don't think it made contact but i was technically what was that wait so how did all right he jumped he jumps i don't know yep i'm after him where is he with my three fps uh he's over by one of the uh oh he's going up into the chalice i don't really know how to follow him because he's gonna be going out are you lagging stan are you guys all lagging i might feel a little bit of latency who knows you like cancel your no i mean like i'm playing like 15 frames per second oh yeah that too yeah it's pretty lagging and the server just crashed on top of that after jumping off the chalice uh i don't know oh he's done he's he's yeah [Music] where is he he's coming out of the chalice i'm at the bottom of it oh i thought you were standing up there waiting no i thought oh i thought he jumped off there he is he's going back up stop going to the chalice wait oh you can cancel going up the geysers you can cancel yeah yeah you can you wendy for telling me all right he jumped out he got a fire flower he gave me one too i also got one too thanks to the firefighters am i wait they're all giving it to you too yes oh oh god you're welcome everybody for the flyers i hit the bunny ah where can i go we're getting i need to escape how did everybody you can't run forever [Laughter] [Applause] well there we go i think it's still one i think i'm at 11. i'm at 8 45. oh my god the game was over and after the points were tallied the winner was obvious smallin had played the best mario odyssey of his life small was the last person to be found on all three rounds that he didn't start as the seeker his spots were clever his escapes were immaculate in this battle nobody stood a chance but god damn it the war wasn't over i still have two more chance to win around a hide and seek against these nerds i know i'm a gamer i've got the hiding spots i've got the movement there's no way i'll be taken down again these next matches would be mine so um go watch the videos on small and cj's youtube channels please they're really funny and already posted also subscribe to me thanks
