knows this place is uh great uh it's located in yachimundori the pottery street that place i love and that's where i buy all my cups and stuff um right now we're walking through one of the shortened guys or the shopping streets the many shopping streets here in naha i definitely recommend you guys explore the showtime guys here there are many of them since it's still early in the morning uh nothing is open right now as you can see it's all shutters but um after around like noon time or a little bit before noontime everything opens up so it's a lot of fun don't worry so that's the end of sunrise naha that is one of the shotengais and it's right here this is the beginning of yachimundori the pottery street and don't forget to check out the small shops that's not on potter street they also sell okinawan pottery and this place tituti sells a bit more uh modern versions of okinawan ceramics i'm gonna take my mask off there's no one here it's too early in the morning i think but anyway this is a yacht mondodi pottery street i love i love coming here i always come here on every trip to okinawa not that i come often but you know whenever i do i come here and i always end up buying something but uh yeah this place has a lot of um individually run ceramic shops and they they make their own original designs along this street there's a beautiful cafe where you can have traditional okinawan which is a tea with foam on the top it's delicious and the place we're having breakfast is located right here you turn left here and you go up the slopes and this is where we're going to be having breakfast the place is called duchy yeah the sign says it's literally 65 steps up this hill that's where you find one of the best places for breakfast in okinawa traditional okinawan breakfast okay so basically there are two things you get for breakfast um i got the onigiri set with miso soup one is made with a juicy one is made with ume this yushi dofu is a tofu before it goes into the mold and you can only eat it in okinawa it's hard to find it outside because it has to be very fresh and it comes in some ninjin shirachi which is a traditional carrot stir-fry and some skimolo or pickled vegetables so here we go so i'm going to take a bite of my onigiri the juicy one that looks delicious you can see all the different ingredients in there i think that juicy or the takikomiyogohan the mixed rice in the okinawa is different from the one in the mainland because they use pork there's so much tofu in here first time eating usual food so happy it's super gentle perfect for morning time it's kind of like a texture of firm tofu but crumbled maybe a little softer than firm tofu and the soup itself is now overly salty it's perfectly balanced i'm gonna try a little bit of my ninjin chili hmm that's nice once again gentle flavor but this one has like a little kick of sesame oil that skimmer is great as a palette cleanser tart but also sweet crispy cucumbers cabbage i'll take a butter onion this one i'm gonna eat it without breaking it apart i think it's a mixture of regular rice and there's a little bit of mochi rice because it's a little bit stickier here's some crunchy bits of um pickled vegetables seasoned with ume plum so it's a little bit tart it's delicious a perfect breakfast i'm washing it all down with um my teeth it's an okinawan tea called getocha and first time trying it it's a little bit tasty taste of ginger but it's it's completely different from ginger tea i think it's much gentler than a ginger tea yeah and it's supposed to be very healthy uh 34 times more polyphenols than red wine so mine is okinawa's traditional i think it is the name of this rice juicy juicy yes already mentioned and it's the mixed rice seasoned with pork broth they poured so much bonito stocks over the rice and pear with pickles and ninjin chili chili same as sneezes one and shimado the okinawan tofu so gentle dashi and on the juicy there is a seaweed called asa i love that aloma it has a very good pork flavor a little bit ginger taste i'd like to eat tofu of course you can pour salt or soy sauce but first i want to try this as it is it has umami sweetness of soy beans soy beans very good um inside we really love this place it's so beautiful i mean everything from the atmosphere to the view to the healthy food just love it it's so nice it's a great way to begin your day [Music] so we just rented a car for the day we're gonna go on the highway go to the west coast of mainland okinawa and we're gonna go have lunch um at a nice cafe there are many uh nice cafes here in okinawa some of them beach fronts some of them up in the mountains lots to choose from [Music] we're here at cafe tokadoka this is located in the ona area on the western part of mainland okinawa it's about an hour's drive from naha it's located on a hilltop overlooking the ocean it's spectacular view this place is famous for pizza but i decided to get the taco rice sausage pizza pizza the original pizza it's tasty very tasty the cheese and this sauce is really good it's really good so i got the taco rice which is a okinawan famous dish and check it out this is what it looks like it's rice with shredded lettuce taco beef and tomatoes so i'm gonna portion myself a little bit of this that's rice on the bottom [Music] and there's also cheese yup i also see cheese [Music] that looks good i'm gonna put some of the special sauce on top taco sauce okay here we go nice and flavorful and a little bit spicy too that's good and the lettuce is so fresh and crispy you know i love taco rice okinawan dish you know it might sound funny uh tex-mex taco ingredients on top of rice but don't knock it until you try it it's good it's awesome let's try the pizza i'm going to try the pizza there's portuguese sausage on the top hmm the tomato sauce on the pizza is really nice you can taste the tanginess of the tomatoes the freshness and it's a thin crispy crush which i love and overlooking this view of the beach in the green i feel like i'm in heaven right now i like chocolates so much i want to make hot home but i don't really make rice at home i don't why really clean flavor and vegetables are crispy it's very fleshy sauce sauce it has a little bit of tanginess it's really tasty i got organic lemon tea [Music] i'm so happy right now i really am you know what we have to stop by makishi market a temporary makishi market because there is a tsukimono place that we have to visit we went there the last time and they have like the best shimada kyoto i hope they're open so this is the temporary makishi market this place is cool because you can buy all sorts of stuff for cooking you can find fresh fish you can find fresh vegetables local vegetables oh fish cake didn't you come here before this fish cake store kaneko yeah they have great fish cake here there's an okinawa or they have all the condiments konichiwa [Music] grows here in okinawa oh it's so good this is like the best place you have to buy yoshimalakka here is so good oh look at all the choices here like this is goya this is the the okinawan bitter melon that's pickled so let's get this vinegar bitterness of this goya it's branded nicely it's like for me this one is mimika this is the pig ear pig ear right figure is it good is it good [Laughter] i've never eaten a pizza [Music] [Music] so that is a pretty big slice of pig ears not sure about pig ear let's try actually it's pretty good it's porky but it's like pickled and vinegar so it's very refreshing and crunchy texture so by the way guys this place is called hirata skim it's located at the corner at the very end of makishi market and they they also have their um cool t-shirts we actually have one of these t-shirts i love them it's so cool actually this is i think this is a father i think and because you know the special situation we're in they also have some cool masks they can buy let's stop talking let's just buy something okay we're gonna buy something [Music] oh my god we're so happy that they're still in business you know they've been in business for over 70 years they've been making these at mono for a very very long time and that's the reason why they're so tasty but the other thing i want to mention is that the people who work here uh they're so friendly so so friends so please right so yeah every time we come here we have to say hello to them it's just so hospitable but if you guys come to okinawa definitely check it out inside makishi public market check out this place you know that's the thing about okinawa every time we come here i think it's the people that really make our stay here so enjoyable it's the people yeah they're so warm all right guys before dinner we want to take you guys to this place it is located at the end of ichibachio dori shotengai on the corner it is this craft beer place that we love we've been here before and we definitely recommend this place anyway let's check it out [Music] so mine is belgian idea this one is fruity and it has that 3d depth [Music] so i got the pale ale today the last time i was here i had the golden ale which was delicious i don't know which one i like better today's one is fruity but also has like a dark caramelly flavor like like a little bit like a melon of molasses they got eight craft beers i want to try all of them i really really do um and i love the vibe of this place the people here that work here are very friendly and if you like crafting i definitely recommend you guys come visit here it's a great place [Music] all right guys it's dinner time we are at this place called gachibin uh this place was recommended by our good friend aina-san who lives in tokyo uh this restaurant actually has two branches one here and the other one is in tokyo but we are here at the okinawa branch this restaurant is housed in a very old traditional okinawan house it's beautiful you can you guys know how much i love architecture so i just love being just just sitting here is enjoyable for me here is okinawa so starting should be orion beer yes olympia cheers everybody kanpai [Music] my refreshing beer so this one is a startup this is mimika pogier some kind of fishy katsu machine maybe and cucumber and this one is interesting crunchy and it's refreshing because they're using plum flashing so if you are a drinker you have to try awamori when you come to okinawa alamodi is their preferred drink their selection of aomori is incredible they have so many choices and so i asked the owner and he recommended i try santika matsuhuji this is his favorite and this is also one of the local people's favorite whoa oh i don't know how to describe it but i like it i gotta say i've tried aomori maybe three times in my life the first two times it was okay you know nothing special but you know what this one i really enjoy there's a lot of good flavor in this one okay the first dish that came out is goya champuru this is probably the most iconic okinawan dish this is basically a stir fry made with goya which is okinawa and bitter melon they also have tofu some katsuobushi bonito flakes at the top scrambled eggs some julian carrots and a lot of times there's pork as well that is the goya or the bitter melon look at that [Music] hmm that's really good flavor and you know you know how you can tell a good plate of goliath is that the bitter melon isn't so bitter they're probably using agu pork which is okinawan pork which is okinawan tofu which is a little bit firmer than mainland tofu a really good dish to start off with so this one looks very delicious it's a sashimi of a fresh fish and coriander mixed with ponzu okinawa has a very warm hot weather in that in that climate this refreshing ponzi and coriander flavor is really good you don't have to worry about this coriander strong flavor it's blended so nicely with this fresh fish another one of my favorite okinawan dishes is shimadakyo translates to island lakyolako is kind of like a okinawan shallot it's delicious usually it's eaten pickled but here they have deep fried it and made it into tempura that looks so delicious yeah they're shaped like this kind of like an oblong shape okay and and i'm gonna eat it with a little bit of salt so crispy the flavor of the shimanaki it's oniony it's a little bit garlicky i love it i love shimadaki but you know what because they've deep fried it's cooked it's actually milder than the pickled form hmm never thought of cooking so many shampoo is a very simple dish it's stir-fried so many noodles so makes a very thin udon type noodles and it's stirred stir-fried with tuna and chinese chives so many noodles so many noodles and chinese chives neera and tuna it's nicely combined with tuna tuna flavor so i ordered this dish for our friend mindy's mom because she wanted us to try umibudo which are sea grapes in okinawa this is a indigenous to okinawa and you can only get fresh sea grapes here in okinawa and it comes with uh the sashi kwasa which is also a uh citrus of okinawa so we're gonna squeeze some of the shikawasa over it and this is this looks like a seafood salad huh there's tomatoes there's lettuce there's tuna i see scallops i see fish and that's the sea grapes yeah another name for it is a caviar of the ocean that's the tuna that is um octopus i think and i think i saw like white fish in here first i'm going to eat just the umibudo that's nice that's nice it has a very mild oceany flavor it's very easy to eat yeah very easy to eat i like that popping texture in your mouth there's already some dressing on top it's a very light dressing sort of like a very mild vinaigrette i think but adding the of the citrus fruit on top makes it super refreshing and goes really well with the seafood and the sea grapes oh this is good by the way this is what the bottle looks like the aomori i'm drinking right now is one of their most popular aomori i love this i'm going to take a picture of this i'm going to look for it in town so next one is very traditional okinawan dish stewed pork belly beautiful it's simmered with is it soy sauce melting in my mouth and it has good good pork reba look at that doesn't that look divine oh my god it smells so good i don't know why pork tastes so good in okinawa it has so much flavor i don't know it tastes more intense or something and the fat just kind of melts your mouth it's not rubbery or chewy it's just very soft and just full of flavor we've had a lot of food today we met a lot of nice people including the people of this restaurant uh the owner is so hospitable and friendly and he welcomes everybody from around the world so definitely you guys have to come here if you want to try authentic okinawan food [Music] we're finishing off with dessert of course you gotta finish off with blue seal ice cream that's okinawa's famous ice cream i got the okinawan potato and the man the nice man gave us like a free half scoop of the top milk tea and secret sauce chocolate she was uh yeah this pink one it's guava it's guava ice cream that's so good but anyway today we had a full day of eating from breakfast all the way to dinner actually all the way to ice cream what did you think i amazed everybody we met today is so kind dishes are really for me it's gentle for my stomach true nothing's like spicy or anything that's true but at the same time gentle does not mean flavorless everything had a lot of flavor um i'm trying to think like what's my favorite thing and it's really really hard because everything that we showed you guys today is some of our favorite places to eat here in okinawa the last place it was our first time we went there because aina-san our friend asked us to go and we're really really happy that we did i think i think it's going to become one of our favorite okay restaurants you know for okinawan food and alamori but anyway thank you so much for watching hope you enjoyed this video please let us know what you thought of the comments down below uh were there any favorites so what appealed to you and um what did you what do you think of okinawa does did we do a good job at uh representing okinawa to you guys i really really hope so thank you for watching see you next video bye bye bye everybody
