Hermitcraft Season 8 - The Octagonal Cursed Portal #15

[Music] you really thought those withers had me defeated huh [Laughter] oh no baby oh no i win we did it guys welcome back to another episode here on the hermit craft server where i managed to do the impossible the wither cage is running is stable and it's doing what it's supposed to do producing 4 500 obsidian per hour i have a shulker loader sitting down here oh yeah that's being filled up at the moment and yeah the system is working flawlessly as you just saw you know we went on a little cycle and yeah i uh want to demonstrate to you how this thing works so finally can't believe it okay oh okay i you know short long story short i mean i just rebuilt the thing try it again and yeah we made it that far right we made it that far already before that we had the pigs sitting in there holding the witness down the stable cage everything cool so we made it to there and last time i went through and then the cage became unstable and the reason that happened was because when we went through we unloaded the cage for too long and then we actually fully reloaded it when we came back with this turned around targeted me and shot with the system now this can't happen here's a junk loader integrated minecarts sitting in this dispenser they're going through the portal and yeah now i'm going to show you how we have to activate it it's a bit of a process right so first things first we just simply walk into this water stream we started from the overworld and then you can see a minecart go through and actually also came back just now so now area is loaded we quickly come around we have 10 seconds time to do that for the first time boom and now we jump in here and we don't touch anything and now we're perfectly positioned we're coming through boom we're dropping down again the water stream washes us forward minecart gets pushed through to junk load back and forth portal on the other side gets turned on and off and then we teleport back turning it on and off so we can teleport again right same here turning the portal on and off and yeah you see lava dispensed and then we turn we ignite it again we fall through the witters take damage from the snowballs break the portal regenerate and rinse and repeat rinse and repeat i'm recording replay footage hopefully that turned out great but yeah we got the freaking thing working and now i'm gonna enjoy the fruits of my labor and just gonna let the thing run as long as it runs and i'm thinking we're super stable i mean this thing has been tested over and over it's only about setting it up that's the complication if you're running you're running look at that we're producing uh you know obsidian galore boom next load and we keep on going we also pick up a little bit of the obsidian in our inventory but you know eventually that fills up and everything else gets picked up by the system i just don't want to touch anything right now but yeah as you can see we're stabily running i can't believe it i'm very very happy about this took me yeah another six hours or so fiddling around with setting everything up double triple checking and using my last six with the skulls i had and it worked out we have the most insane and complex farm i ever made running in stable here on the hermitcraft server i'm very pleased ah man i can't tell you how relieved i am to finally have this freaking widow farm working can't believe it it took another attempt i was in there again you know with scycroft watching and heckling and yeah got it to work ultimate triumph and it's working great i ran it for a good hour now and yeah the expected rates are there we go have a look in a second uh i upgraded it a little bit too over the time now because yeah we're using quite a lot of flint and steel to re-light the portals over there we have to turn the portals on and off to quickly be able to teleport back and forth right there's always the portal teleportation cooldown and we stand in the portal so we turn it on and off and then the portal triggers again to teleport us so yeah i've been really busy where is my oxidized copper box um with making more oxidized copper we want to sell an over at octagon and yeah we're gonna do it in stacks of 16 right so i don't know this is maybe almost this is a full shulker box of oops screwed that one up is this a full shulker box already i don't know how much we need to actually fill a shulker box properly like that let's try out real quick um a 16 so pretty much times four right you can every stack we have we can make four stacks for sale out of it so um let's add a few here yeah that that would be a nice you know chest resell and now what was the price again i think like wasn't tango selling his like 10 for like three diamonds or something like that or two diamonds so probably a stack of 16. what do you guys suggest for price for that four diamonds a stack of 16. so then theoretically a shulker box like this would make 20 27 times four diamonds now that's a a nice decent profit and yeah we got some some more left here yeah um suggest some prizes we should use um and then we'll see you know there's a strong debate i had a talk with ren uh saying people were complaining about is this full by the way no but pretty much now people were complaining about the wood prices and you know obviously there's also the fully automatic produced netherwood now right that is a farm i also had in mind maybe building but ren said it's all right he wanted to grind it out the legit way and so now you know people are undercutting the market prices pretty much with easy to use wood you know you can use it for crafting and stuff you don't really have to use the hard hardcore mine would and at the moment the wood demand is not insanely high um might be partially because hermits are not using so much wood in their builds or might be because generally our prices are too high it's hard to tell but at the moment ooh this is loud ren doesn't want to reduce prices all right let's crank that down a bit so here is the small upgrades i installed oh yeah here's our yield at the moment so one shulker box holds 1728 items and for running yeah a good hour i got pretty much three times 1728 you do the math so over it's over 4500 but that fits because yeah i ran it a little bit longer than an hour as well um upgrades i did we can quickly have a look with the trigaroo camera free cam up here um you can see those chests those chests all contain flint and steel filled to the brim and yeah those flint and steel um go into this uh dispenser here which is used to turn the portal on and off on the other side here we just use a lava portal off and then turn it on again and you know you blast through quite some flint and steel maybe fire charges would be an option and you know there's other ways to reliably quickly light a portal but as fire tick is off here on the server makes it a bit difficult i also added these additional chests here on the side to get snowballs loaded because every time a portal gets generated it gets detected by these observers here right the portal generates right there and then redstone signal comes over to these dispensers that shoot one snowball at the winters on each side and they get aggro trigger destroy the portal that spawns right here here's the top frame of the portal there's buttons on top so the port cannot generate here it's forced to generate always there and you know halfway inside the pm with us yeah on top we have the boats holding the width in place as you know from before and um yeah preventing the boats from going through the portal when it's generated right there where the boats sit right so super complex and complicated but yeah we got it working now and i'm really really stoked about it i yesterday i spent quite some time getting some flint but yeah it's not that bad i made me a special shovel for that the graveler graveler has fortune three and then you pretty much get a whole lot of flint out of every you know a pile of gravel you attack so it's actually super easy to get lots of gravel and iron is inflationary as everybody runs iron farms and yeah i'll show you also now finally the top side so um as i told you what went wrong last time why did the witness target me and then break free well when the area gets reloaded the widows target the nearest entity and i was closer than the villager so they turned around real quick shot me i was out of vision right away that they go back to the villager but that was enough to break free that doesn't happen if the thing stays loaded and yeah this is another side of things here we send a minecart back and forth to keep the area loaded nicely all the time and here's the same system installed we have a dispenser with lava that turns out the portal when we arrive exactly when we arrive and then that gets triggered by the minecart that arrives shortly before us and then the system knows player is coming and we have a timer here at the moment there is nine items in there fastest you can run it is with seven items but nine items because the hermitcraft server sometimes struggles with lag and then the system could sometimes desync and now it's tuning it a little bit it's stable it's slightly slower now but you know you don't really feel it as you saw the output was good and here same dealio right we have flint and steel i filled this whole thing up all the way to the top to be ready in prime to have a nice running session later tonight or in the morning hours when not so many players are on because i'm really scared somebody kicks me because you know we have this kind of gentleman's agreement on the hermitcraft server that you know if a server is struggling and people are afk then we can kick them using operator account nobody's mad about that but in the case of this farm if i'm getting kicked in an un yeah in a bad moment and then re-log right and then teleport through um to the witness again while i'm in the portal and the thing is not loaded properly we could have a huge issue the thing could definitely break and then we have to witness lose again and you know then the hermits will really think i'm crazy because as we all know the definition of insanity by albert einstein is if you do the same stupid thing over and over again and expect different results right so yeah i like insanity though so therefore ah we have our next insane project oh looky look it looks like ren started on our office building this is gonna be the octagon office building sitting right there that's a nice spot and oh look at that he also um did some first drafts for the terraforming around here so the whole island gonna be transformed and i'm thinking yeah he's laying out his collar pallet here oh baby here that is looking snazzy and we are not going cheap okay so we i guess we need to run the tunnel boar we need more diamond ore yeah yeah he's working with it tough is needed all right all stuff he can help acquire with the tunnelbore and that's the office tower he's working on nice so yeah i promised ren we're gonna have the most epic portal right i said we're gonna have an octagonal portal up in here and i measured things out a little bit group and i think this is the perfect spot for our octagonal portal it's gonna be 11 wide let's get some helper blocks and look what kind of portal we want to create octagonal shape proper not just you know looks a real octagonal portal that's going to be a tricky task we're gonna use update suppression to to accomplish that let's see if the hermitcraft server is ready for that i got everything i need in here ready to build an insane update suppressor that is brand new developed by pixels i'll link his channel in the video description also you know a member of the scicraft server but he does really interesting cool stuff master of quarry tech and so on check it out definitely worth a look so anyways here is our portal frame now i'm thinking i want to have no let's use yeah the portal that's the base five wide one that's the middle two three and then i guess we would come up diagonally like so let's do three one two three maybe and then we go up and we go one and then two three four five let's have a peek yeah yeah it should look pretty cool let me finish the shape and let's see how it looks yeah that looks good that's a nice octagonal shape doesn't look too round-ish or whatnot okay so guys we're going into the deep deep rooms of technical minecrafting again this is gonna be a complicated endeavor believe me so what we need to do is we need to yeah update suppress breaking out portal bits and breaking out frame items off the bottle and keep the portal stable while we do so and then we need to replace the outer rim of that portal so where these dirt blocks are later we want to have waxed copper blocks we're going to use waxed because yeah if we don't use waxed and lightning strikes and updates the portal then we have a problem right the copper in the frame could update if it's not wax and go back to polished and then yeah bad things happen okay um let's build up the the portal here minimum size of it so dirt here those blocks we will replace with copper and this is going to be curse portal 2.0 but on steroids and that's going to be very very tricky to pull off i have i think a pretty stable update suppressor ready but you know we will definitely push the hermitcraft server to its limits and we got to be smart when we're experimenting with this thing so we don't cause uh server crashes when we have too many people on you know right now probably yeah we have a few people afk setup is afk zuma is doing something but you know i ca there's also times where i'm pretty much here maybe with etho also and um yeah that should be fine okay so portal would have to go further to out here and trying to make the minimum size big bottle we need to create the octagonal shape and that's pretty much yeah what we need to create this it's gonna be interesting to say the least hopefully it all works this is gonna be another one of these thrillers one mistake and hours of work will be in vain um why you know do i keep on doing that to myself you could make a chill episode where you don't do anything crazy and break the server no can't i have to push the limits i guess that's the goat way okay so let's finish up the portal here real quick upwards all right good so that's the minimum size portal don't tell etho the corners are missing okay all right so that would be our octagonal shape and yeah that means we need to take out quite a bunch of blocks around it and replace them to do so we need an update suppressor and i have enough space to build one right over there and that's what we're gonna do now you know what time it is [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] man it is the next day now wax on wax off i love that they put this reference in there man karate kid wax on wax off yeah i'm out here waxing some copper um let's go up to here and because yeah we need that for the cursed portal at the octagonal portal and right now is a pretty good time to try out if our update suppressor setup works so how does update suppression even work well name is program right if you break a nether portal it will light off because you are breaking out the obsidian block will send an update to um you know the portal the actual portal block next to it so if you now create so many updates in the game that the game can't keep up right and yeah will not be able to update the blocks in the portal if you break out a frame and then you achieve update suppression and then you can make odd-shaped portals remove the frame and there's all kinds of other crazy stuff you can do with update suppression of course and the point of update suppression it's not only for looks making a cool portal like we plan to do now i also plan to yeah create a pretty overpowered gold farm and um yeah that's why we made the big obsidian farm now to get tons of obsidian and for that um to have maximum output i want to definitely make another curse portal where the mobs just literally can flow out um you know unfazed so there's also practical uses to um update suppressed portals and how far did we go um waxed yes x should be 32 i think i did those and those here oh yeah here okay cool yeah 32 that should be enough um but yeah i have more copper blocks here i wanted to bring that over now anyways and the rest yeah i'll leave here and age later okay let's head back and then we also need to locate a perfect spot in the nether to set up our connect connection for our octagonal portal we're going to do that first and then we're going to try to slice the portal and remove some blocks of it for the first time right now is only tango on might be afk over at his wood farm um so yeah fingers crossed we don't crash the server and it works all right so pretty much obviously the portal would be very close to our original portal and we will definitely have to work on our nato tunnels man things looks really scruffy out here but pretty much right here should be the perfect location i made a straight shot uh to the main hub don't know where these tunnels are leading to but yeah we probably should block them off and here we can take all of that out for now i guess but yeah we definitely need to put some work into the nether area here we live in a really scruffy part of the nether right you know everything else is already you know looking nice and good but yeah over here everything looks scruffy all right yeah maybe we'll come up with a nice way to do that soon but for now let's clear out some space here and this is gonna be the portal i'm gonna do a three three white i guess make it a little bit more fancy um but yeah we need to set that up and then go back to the overworld and light the big portal and then we are ready to try update suppression already nervous again since when you know i i'm feeling like some thrill seeker or something you know when i play minecraft why can't i do relax stuff this is already you know causing its anxiety again just for the so reason i could crest a server with it and it's also one of these tasks make one mistake and you're going back to square zero pretty much not no you're going back to square minus five it's even worse all right so that's that okay let's quickly have a nap and then we light the portal check if it's properly connected and then i'll do the preparations for update suppression when you know using the machine should be fairly straightforward it's optimized by now with auto reset and everything so i'll explain some more of the details when we run the machine um but yeah let me see okay i want to kind of keep the dirt here um you know so we know where our structure goes or we can also use sandstone actually it doesn't matter but you know we want to keep the keep these blocks highlighted and then um behind the portal so we just know what we cut out and where we headed at with this whole dealio okay i probably cannot reach up all the way there oh ren joined good morning ren okay normally i'm happy when ren joins now i just don't want anybody to join i want people to stay out of the server so in case i crash the server nobody finds out about it that is the plan yo yo yo you're literally making an octagon nether portal yeah octagonal shape right not just a cheaty one where you like hide it with blocks like an actual octagon near the portal nothing nothing cosmetic like you know the real deal we're not playing around i mean come on it's the octagon right so now of course dude so now the coolest building in hermitcraft history yeah you know check this out the cool thing about this update suppressor that's a completely new development is there is ouch it is it's kind of cool say hello dude i'm in a very a complicated process now you freaking okay so you know now we can pretty much reuse that thing okay okay re-triggered it again now check this out now i'm have to break out from left right to left again that's because of update order of things and so on very important right you break that out and now check this normally if i would put any block here right now the whole portal would collapse right yeah because you can't put a block into a nether portal like that if that's just not how it works whoa boom baby oh we're cooking with gas this morning money yeah baby look at this man holy moly you have to do that each time for each block that you put in yeah oh okay so you've got like basically another three hours of grind left at least and the thing is if i make one tiny mistake yep you got to start again from the beginning yeah you're no you're not going back to square one you're going back to square minus 10. so now i need to move the whole d leo up put it in front of here the only thing is now as long as we're working on this thing you can place blocks in front see that's no problem but don't place anything oops that went through inside the portal frame okay everything here you know here no placey placey okay right can we can we use the portal yes uh it works it's a even if we could you know we could slice all the portal blocks out and literally have a like a one one by one portal yeah okay well doc you've gotta you've gotta slice the portals up in each corner of this giant square yeah it's going to take you probably an hour a corner so good good luck i'm gonna get back to building our office my dude we've got a meeting a little bit later on so don't fry your brain okay we're gonna we have a we have a meeting to get to it looks really really baller already my man yeah i don't know what it is it's a test tube okay a much this is so finicky uh the portal collapsed on me twice already when i made a mistake and yeah now we are here i tried a different approach sliced out the bottom half and did the side sides first so this is what we got oh i know that you know you see all the dirt up there i was already up there removing this top slice now i made the portal one block taller on the top and the button and i'm just slicing out the whole bit and then replacing individual portal blocks like these five below sounds complicated it is believe me next up i will work my way up here on the sides i will do these these side blocks here and probably then do these right away yeah first work my way up here then work my way up here and then the final bit fingers crossed guys already yeah good two hours into this even more maybe and it's brutal no mistakes allowed but so far so good we might be able to pull that off unreal let's take a nap i need a break man oh oh my god look at this guys we're almost done ah i aged 10 years doing this why oh my nerves so as you can see we sliced out the top part now and staircasing down and all that is left to do now is yeah those five blocks on the side so i have to do the update suppression 10 more times and then we actually pulled this off but i thought about something right we're using waxed copper here to make sure if lightning strikes the thing doesn't you know go back to polished and then updates the portal and it all breaks but one scar with a pickaxe could actually break this portal if they unwax one of the blocks kaling oh my god i just thought about that now and i'm oh god oh okay last stretch another hour of focus and then we should have this this is how far i made it in case it collapses now you saw it this is how far i made it all right all right guys look at this look at this the last block i've repaired it ah i can't tell you i'm actually in the discord with a lot of the scicraft guys at the moment they are listening in and watching me they can't watch actually but yeah listening in everybody was there okay uh yeah we gotta do the proper braking everything should be set up i can't tell you guys i literally aged four years of doing this like i don't recommend doing this like not at all it is it is definitely definitely a thriller a minecraft thriller all right everything looks butted yeah all right let's break that one out and filthy factory popping up back there dude polluting the area cheesy filthy filthy all right um i guess yeah as our first official meeting happens we need to i don't know clock clock clock meetings yeah we need a gong dude oh man yeah we should have okay that's the first upgrade we need we need a note block we gong yeah we need a note yeah we also need to like upgrade our billboards to near the right there's lots of stuff you need to do in here but listen yeah most important things first i've been pondering over the sheets that the databases that the the statistics of sales across the server i have come up with a product list that is going to be perfect for our shop my dude we've got eight products to sell okay that's the plan these are our primary products that i that i propose yeah deep slate shulker boxes copper rockets yeah and each week we're going to come here and like adjust the the graph so show which is here we have already pretty good stock around 20 shulker boxes are loaded into a system so that is cool i mean shulker boxes that's just about crafting them and for copper i have two shulker boxes prepared that are filled with stacks of 16. so getting there yep rockets we got rockets for days i've been afk gun powder and sugar cane today oh yeah over here is the more budget stuff we've got glass that we're smelting in the auto smelter redstone from the tunnel boar and the bargain bin which is going to be in the middle of the octagon one diamond for anything in there yeah like all our junk i thought we were selling buckets now it was like all right market research yeah so that's seven products we got one more though i don't know what to sell i haven't figured it out i thought we'd let the viewers decide like yeah we we can put one more product in the octagon let's do a proper customer you know how to hold it a survey okay so all your other all your other guys you go out to everybody uh hermit's comment section and ask them what shop do they want well what do they want to buy yes and then you report the results back to us in our comments section absolutely perfect there's no compensation for this work by the way just uh thank you from octagon inc you are cheap and you know buying impulses would he's throwing on the market but it seems to be kicking in huh their supplies are drying up the shulker box shops sales are also picking up man nice dude so here at the octagon we got some of the best products available on the server all in one freaking place pile of derp coin pile of diamonds baby we're cooking with gas doc awesome oh man i'm excited i horse derbies and guess what they liked that yeah they agreed so beautiful you know i didn't say any numbers i just said we have a crap-ton of diamonds and we would sponsor them yeah so okay we need to probably understand the package right i mean to be fair we we don't have that many diamonds we've got a ton of diamond oil though yeah that means i need to go back to the tunnel bore i guess okay yeah i know that i'm under an ocean right now and it's the biggest pain ever to make progress but all right i'll tell you what i will remove diamonds from the block palette for the terraformification let's send all those diamonds over to the sponsorship we need to make sure we get some billboards up there at the racecourse though okay that's got to be part of the deal yes right first big billboard man there's so much work still to do there's so much thought the opening ceremonies coming closer and closer bro that is right man that is right yeah we've got to put the opening dude we need a laundry list in here yeah we we need like some sort of a memo we need a secretary to take down all of this jazz my dude seriously okay wait hold on we can we can hire a secretary we're ceo ds now my the grand opening of octagon is on the line also in case you forget we won against the winters they are forced to work for us now in their winter cages and will provide us with infinite amounts of
