Why you should never buy a range Rover has been a thing since the dawn of time. Horrible reliability stuff always blowing up, but damn do I love how old Discoveries look.

As someone who owns a classic Range Rover and has owned plenty of Land Rovers...
Don't buy a cheap Range Rover that's not been well cared for an that has problems. Don't buy on price, buy on condition.
Don't expect to buy a $90,000 vehicle that's depreciated to $6,000 and expect it, after 158,000 miles and 15 years, to run on a shoestring budget.
Land Rovers are incredible vehicles, but they're not cheap to run. The most expensive vehicle you'll ever own is a neglected one.

It's ironic how they are know for being "off-roaders" but can't be reliable enough to get the store and back.
I love the first gen Range Rover and Defender; they're pretty much one of the few SUV's I lust over. Having known for a while how much of a nightmare these those things could be to keep running, they were always a guilty pleasure of mine.
