so today we have another video review for an appliance and this one's a little bit different than what we normally would do I have here a Samsung bespoke RF 3066 ql refrigerator I've gotten a lot of questions from viewers if this fridge is any good and I've even seen comments from technicians saying hey you need to look at this fridge it's different than what Samsung has put out it may actually be worthwhile to consider that are purchasing and if you've ever watched the channel we've talked a lot about Samsung refrigerators but never anything good about the refrigerators now please understand about this video I am not being sponsored by Samsung to review this I'll have links to buy this if you decide that this review is worthwhile and it makes sense for you to consider it um I've made a lot of money off of Samsung refrigerators but not because I sell them but because we fixed so many of their problems I've tore apart probably hundreds of these but never a bespoke refrigerator like this but is this refrigerator worth considering versus all the other ones on the market it's definitely different than anything else Samsung has put out let's tear apart some of the things inside of this contrast it to some of the other Samsung refrigerators that we've looked at on the channel and see has Samsung finally put out a good refrigerator worth considering now let's talk about some considerations if this refrigerator is going to work for you you this particular Samsung bespoke refrigerator was made in Korea the unit is 36 in wide 34 in deep and 70 in tall including the doors Samsung offers a few different styles of this unit such as counter depth and with the pitchure only accessible from the inside of the door without the opening that you see on this unit called the beverage center you can also get a unit with a tablet computer inside called a family Hub but I would forgo adding that as it adds a lot of complexity and cost to something that you really don't wanted I have had some bad experiences with refrigerator tablet computers before and I still think they're a very bad idea as the cost capabilities and unreliability these things just isn't worth it and if you think my experience was bad just imagine what happens when you add cameras in the mully and flap to your refrigerator but back to the refrigerator before we get inside the first thing you'll see is the outside of the refrigerator by comparison to pretty much every other refrigerator on the market a Samsung refrigerator like this is going to be sign significantly different Samsung promotes this look for the fact that it comes in some wild and sometimes crazy color schemes you can customize your refrigerator in a wide range of colors like pink charcoal Clementine and other colors sadly though I did not see any biscuit collared refrigerators on their website but maybe they will add those in the future but rather than care about the style of the door features or the collars there are some very beneficial things to see here first off since it's tempered glass you aren't really going to have to deal with easy scratches or much more likely dents although Samsung does offer some metal based panels the fact that you have a few choices here is really advantageous but better yet if something ever happens to the door you're not forever ruined once you have these clips out of place the entire door panel is actually removable and replaceable this is something so incredible I really wanted to make the video just to show you this the removable facade is why Samsung has all these different options for consumers but for someone like myself that sells Scratch and Dent appliances this also means that selling damaged refrigerators is going to change a lot is these doors are much cheaper and easier to get and replace since the entire door assembly doesn't have to be bought we only have to buy the front now which is huge and I think other brands should copy this design immediately also since it's basically tempered glass with a magnet on the rear of it it could easily be fabricated from a local glass shop saving even more time and money potentially the entire process to remove and replace a system requires a suction cup and screwdriver but that's pretty much it and it took a matter of only seconds to pop the clips and pull the door next the most important thing about the Samsung bespoke refrigerator isn't what it has but what it lacks the inside of the refrigerator has tons of space and much of that is thanks to Samsung finally wising up and doing away with the awful indoor ice maker which was the subject of class action legal suits as well as millions of disgruntled customers I spent considerable time in other videos talking about this much of the legitimate ill will towards Samsung is due to the piece of junk in the door which likely cost them hundreds of millions of dollars to deal with instead in this unit Samsung opts for a beverage center and pitcher in the door for your indoor water needs because this system doesn't require freezing anything in the refrigerator like ice it's going to be far better and more reliable than the old styled indoor system that it seems like all bespoke refrigerators are getting rid of depending on your model you may be able to access the pitcher system without opening the door entirely While others require you to open the door and access it from the inside this model is considered to have the beverage center version rather than the autofill pitcher style only now it's a nice pitcher and it also features a small filter to hold ice or other solids while you use it to serve although I wish this was customizable like the doors they could have earned some extra points here by letting me swap it with like a vintage Tupperware pitcher so I could store my tang in it instead of just water opening up the beverage door does kind of have one flaw though I think with this model I love hidden handle refrigerators but there's only a very small sweet spot on the middle of the door's recess to trigger this feature additionally there's nowhere in the middle of the door to open the French door via pockets it's one thing I do like from some of the other Samsung models that are really elegant like they're side by sides they have really nice indoor handles but maybe that is just my personal preference going back to ice everyone gets mad when I mentioned avoid it in the door and I think that this Samsung bespoke refrigerator has the best idea imaginable when it comes to solving this problem the left side drawer has two Chambers for ice why is that well it's a dual ice making system that allows for different styles of ice based on whichever model of a Spoke refrigerator you buy this has the potential to be really good or really bad given Samsung's record on ice makers so let's see how these ice makers work real quick by tearing it into the freezer and see what's really on the inside of the system one good thing about this refrigerator is that the freezer is identical to every other Samsung on the market despite the looks so the tear down is identical to what I showed in a video a few years ago which is really easy just four screws with the door off this is what you see on the underside of the ice makers the chassis is simply something that holds two twist style ice makers and this is quite amazing and incredible because these are the cheapest least likely to break styles on the market the huge Advantage here is well Simplicity you don't have an ice bucket that can crack and fail a complex ice maker that's difficult to remove or one that freezes up consistently and it doesn't have an auger system that makes a lot of noise and is inanely expensive to replace if and when it goes bad by just simplifying the system into two simple ice makers Samsung basically doubled the ice output while making it very unlikely that they will fail and if they fail they should be very affordable to replace I think this feature is very useful for a consumer but even more so as a technician because of how reliable the system should be the inside arrangement of bespoke refrigerators does vary model by model this one was pretty interesting because it did not have a chef's Pantry in the bottom instead it opted for two huge crisper drawers at the bottom and the configuration I thought was pretty unique in that directly above it there are two more essentially crisper drawers lined side by side with the water filter cartridge housing I can't say how many models there are I've ever seen use this configuration and I think it's a really good way of optimizing space But as a technician one of the areas of concern I do have on this style of refrigerator isn't the drawers but what's behind them so let's go ahead and remove everything out of the inside of the unit which is really easy to remove these drawers and I'll tell you that the glass shelves are really really wellb built and sturdy although the crisper drawers were kind of thin on the plastic so they're not quite the best having taken apart a lot of the older style units it is very similar to take this one apart and I won't bore you with too many details on that the panel is much larger here than the old style but it still retains a lot of the similarities it has a fan and temperature sensors embedded in the housing but they simplified a lot of these systems the bspoke here is way more minimalistic than what I'm used to one thing about this is that the evaporator foam is covered by plastic so it's less likely to get compromised by moisture failure so that's one really good thing by comparison to the newer ones this seems to have far less problems with it as the evaporator is far more simplistic in this unit as well this is very similar to how they used to look 12 to 14 years ago prior to the ice Master remodel for their units however I really wish Samsung had added a heater to the evaporator fan here just as a safeguard in case moisture and frost builds up in the cabinet but time will tell if this is a good choice that Samsung did all this but I can't see any major flaws on how they designed this system at least from a tech perspective one thing I had a question about in this unit though is the water reservoir it's quite high up in the housing and one common issue we saw with older model Samsung refrigerators is that if the fan ends up going bad due to Ice Cold Air will settle at the bottom of the ref refrigerator drawers causing the reservoir to crack resulting in significant leaks this unit has the reservoir setting up much higher in the filter housing and towards the center of the refrigerator this means that the cold air would likely settle at the bottom of the crisper drawers it's a huge advantage on this design over the previous models which I think is again a good benefit to how they've designed this unit one other thing to note about this when you open the doors is the door swing of these models they swing out about 2 in towards each side when fully open then about 1 in to the rear of the cabinet so these doors are not going to sit exactly flush with a wall also as a note on this style refrigerator you do need 1 in of clearance behind them so make sure that you consider these regarding a refrigerator if you're setting it inside some cabinets the reason that the clearance is so important is that the compressor fan and condenser system have enough fresh air to run properly behind the unit Samsung actually recommends 3 in of rearward clearance for best results and I do suggest that as it allows for more fresh air to move and the more fresh air that the unit gets the better it operates also make sure to clean the condenser every 6 months for best results despite no computer being in the door like a tablet the unit does allow you to use the Samsung smart things app the app for this refrigerator is very minimalistic and I do prefer it that way it took me only about 3 minutes to log on and having dealt with some LG and GE units this was a nice change of pace once in you can adjust the temperature you can request the unit run harder with the power freeze option you can turn the ice makers on and off check the status of the water filter look at power usage and a few other features now the more complex versions of the refrigerator that have the cameras or the flex zone doors could do extra things like give you an inside view of the food unless you've angered the fridge by fill it with too many things like apples since it absolutely hates iPhones although Samsung is known for having pretty good Electronics this does extend generally to the refrigerator Electronics but there's always that concern about machine reliability for the bespoke refrigerators you do have a 5year sealed system warranty and 10 years on the compressor as well but a standard oneyear warranty generally on all other parts speaking of electronics though one of the final things to look at on the refrigerator is the minimalistic UI that is in the door this is very similar to what you see on the smart things app that we looked at the phone just moment ago you can change the refrigerator and freezer temperatures the ice maker status you can change the autofill pitch and a few other minor things and that's all the major features of this style refrigerator now that we've gone through the Samsung bespoke refrigerator is it a really good refrigerator yes this is probably the best refrigerator Samsung has made in at least 12 or 13 years maybe the best refrigerator Samsung has ever made this is is a huge Improvement for them which is really really good however there are some caveats to this the huge advantage on this is they moved all the ice maker to the bottom of the refrigerator I know we've talked about this already but this is absolutely the biggest Improvement I love how this looks and will operate I know I'll get a lot of hate comments about the fact it's not in the door but quite frankly if you want it in the door just prepare for a massive nightmare if you're willing to buy a Samsung I've made so much money off those videos it's unreal the biggest concern well it's still a Samsung refrigerator which means that there are still some questions about the unit uh the warranty is a major concern on it Samsung is rather notorious not necessarily for the span of the warranty but the fact that their repair service is garbage depending on where you live it may be hard to get the model serviced if it breaks under warranty although Samsungs usually don't break very much under under warranty although I do make these videos to where you can click a link and purchase it I would consider finding out if say Costco has the model that you want uh because they have offer really good warranty protection and so does Big Sandy as well those are two that I know that do a good job another concern on these refrigerators is that when I say oh Samsung bespoke's the best refrigerator Samsung's everever made the one caveat is there are a lot of different bespoke refrigerators and I'm only talking about the three-o models here or the side by sides I think both of those models are really good don't opt for the family Hub with the tablet in the door don't opt for any of the AI opening and closing features try to keep this as minimalistic as possible that's going to increase your chances of getting a really good refrigerator Samsung offers a lot of complex features in the reality is they're all terrible and unreliable the extra bells and whistles are just terrible finally is is this the best refrigerator on the market no I still would prefer a GE refrigerator with the same features and options it would probably be a little bit less money and I in most techs still think that GE is quite good however not every Mak model of GE is going to fit what you want and some of these Samsung Bes spokes are going to be in sizes profiles and capacities that are more desirable and that makes these a good consideration depending on what is going on the model I have here retails in the real world for about $2,000 you may say oh that's quite expensive for a No Frills French door refrigerator but I think for the fact that it was assembled in South Korea and most of the parts on this seem to be pretty wellb built I think that it is a good value in the long run Am I Wrong potentially but most technicians that I've talked to that work on these things seem to be rather impressed with them which is initially what led me to find one of these refrigerators to review again check the links for this model if you want to purchase one otherwise I hope you have a great day in this review informed you on what refrigerators to consider have a great day
