welcome back to the flow gold wizard Channel I'm here today with Keith and Eva from Hard Rock University hi they're on their way out east and they thought they'd swing in here and check out the fridge of Wonder well they just wanted to meet riy absolutely so they just pulled in and we're kind of exchanging hellos and how do you do and all that and uh they brought some fantastic Crystal specimens along for Miss Wizard and a bunch of stuff for me and I'm going to try to gain some knowledge out of Keith's uh massive wealth of knowledge he's got in his brain over there he's a hard rock Miner and I know nothing about that at all and he brought some stuff along today we're going to try to get some gold out of it with the uh micro SLO that I came up with just to see if he can get some of that gold out of the crushed ore because it's so difficult he has to use uh chemical process to to to re recover the gold out of this stuff it's uh it's incredibly fascinating to me I know nothing about it but we're going to learn a lot today back in a bit now when I say Keith and Eva came bearing gifts I wasn't a kidding they brought all kinds of cool stuff ouch now uh what do you got there it looks like some kind of uh mineralized this is ore of some kind possibly this is from a place we call Montana be this is quartz here and it has has gold in it but you see how it's been broken up the way a uh a vein deposit usually works you have uh Solutions going through a crack and you can have multiple events and you can deposit quartz and then shatter it as ground moves again and then reement it so this is a very common pattern you'll see where you got a broken up Rock that's been recemented that's called a breia that's what it's called all right let's get another closeup of that okay let me know that's too much light there I'm seeing it just fine I hope everybody else is and this right here you can see how much iron there is there the red not just the red all that brown too this is all Iron generally when you have hydrothermal solutions that contain gold and it's in solution due to temperature mainly like in excess of 300° Centigrade Under Pressure if the reason the quartz I mean the gold is being deposited is a temperature drop in the solution there are two other minerals that tend to come out of solution at the same temperature one is quartz the other is iron oxide well actually iron sulfide it becomes oxide but iron sui pyite so what you're looking for is quartz with either iron pyite if it's not oxidized or iron oxides if it is if it's near surface for a long period of time it'll be oxidized like this and so you hear about iron stained quartz there's an old saying gold wears an iron hat that's why you'll almost always find iron with gold you don't necessarily find gold with iron especially around here there's other reasons you got these big Iron deposits but here's other or see how at that just looks like rust yeah this is kind of orange here that's because it was iron sulfide and this has iron sulfate in it too this is kind of Limonite this is more of a hematite which is a pure iron oxide a technical term for the oxidation product of iron pyite is goti hardly anyone uses it but that's the technical term and that's exactly what it means just iron oxide side from oxidizing iron pyate and here's another rock you got broken quartz from quartz vein that was then the ground movement broke it then you've got iron oxides all through it and these samples here will generally run between a/4 of an ounce to over an ounce per ton and you won't really of gold an ounce of gold per ton oh yeah whoa now the problem is you won't usually be able to see any of it even with a microscope or with a hand Loop because this material here 80% of the gold according to Montana Technical University uh they use electron microscope to analyze this stuff for us because we were having trouble getting the gold out 80% of it is less than 6.8 microns which is about 2500 mesh most of the gold in this the vast majority is one4 of the size of talcum powder yikes that's why we have to use chemicals well that is very interesting and I see you brought a couple of uh partial pales of material here yeah ri's guarding them ri's guarding them yeah what this is this is gold ore that has been crushed this got a little damp this is from a place we call top of the hill and this was from Mine in Arizona and unlike the samples I just showed you this has significant quantities that can actually be panned or sleed or whatever um that uh Devon gold micro slle the vdr clean up slle yeah yeah this stuff here was getting almost 50% of the gold was being recovered by that slle well if the gold is that small that I would say that's pretty darn good yeah say th well this is course compared to that okay okay th this you can crush this up put it in the bucket Stir It Up Walk Away 5 minutes later it's still floating around yeah it just doesn't settle literally the liquid when we tested it after we let that bucket sit around two or 3 days the liquid the silk tested higher gold than the St in the bottom of was significantly enriched compared to the why you need to do chemical processes that's why we have to do chemical but we're going to do a little bit of testing today and see if we can't do a little gravity separation with our micro slle we also have a 3-in uh vdr cleanup slle maybe we'll run them both let's see what happens you bet you well along with Keith's awesome pile of goodies right here and his cool rock display and knowledge uh Eva brought some uh rocks over here burying gifts uh kind of a quartz collection if you will all kinds of really cool looking specimens here these were actually found in dumpson and in Dobson in dumps and dubs oh a dump okay dumps and what we call Dozer pushes because what happens with a dozer push we had one place that I'm doing a complete survey on I'm taking a grid of samples on a large area it's what probably uh 100t by 100t there my Dozer push area more than that yeah about 150 by 75 or something I'm doing a full sampling program on this where I've got it grided out and every certain number of feet I'm taking soil samples doing what's called loaming where we take that soil sample I screen it down and he hands it to see if there's gold in it and we also have at the end of it a very large Dozer push because these guys were looking for Bedrock so they could see the structure of the rock in a large lar area and decide whether it was worth tunneling and doing other things so they came in with a big bulldozer and they pushed a giant pile of crap in front of them and that made this huge pile of gorgeous looking dudes for me to play with I love my rocks and there are some of them right there some of the ones I found well let's see if we can get up and close in person here a little bit now this has some very interesting effects on the bottom here you you get what's called boiling what happens there is the liquid just came up and it was boiling and when it cooled down all the calite that was in there went away and just left these veins and these actual fins of really thin quartz and on this side we have what I like to call tuers you've got a crack or a a nice pocket of void in your heavy quartz and it gets filled with very very mineral Rich viscous liquid and when it cools the teeth the crystals come together just like teeth and crystals grow to different sizes at very specific rates depending on the temperature and things so if you know what kind of Crystal you have and the faces on them and the side of them will tell you how long they were exposed to various Solutions now this on this side see cementation happened things broke up and the quartz got injected in there and then got cemented together and we had quarts grow on top this was the kind of rock we have up there it's sort of a blue silt stone that just just very fine grain silt Stone doesn't polish very well and you can can see how the crystals were extremely clear so you had they're beautiful yeah you you've got extremely clear crystals with almost no inclusions in there so you had very very pure material that was not carrying a lot of sediment it was not moving much when those crystals grew whereas these crystals have a lot of cloudiness and a lot of grow lines in them there's there's nice banding in them and they grew from a heavier weight cloudier material that has more impurities in it this guy I left pretty dirty actually when he when I first found him he was all that Dark Root Beer color I knew because of the shapes that it was not Garnet it was definitely quartz but this is the kind of iron staining that you see when you got heavily mineralized ore around and it got dissolved and that iron precipitates out and stains your crystals so you clean these with a material called iron out that you can buy in your like hardware store works a lot better than CLR on these but we've got a nice little selection here yeah absolutely that I bought from Mrs wizard this one I don't know how well you can see it when I turn it but you can see how the crystals were growing in plates which tends to be caused by different levels of pressure but we got all kinds of different little guys here well I do appreciate you bringing those and would you believe the client who has this claim told me I can keep the crystals all this interested in is this weird yellow stuff I don't know what the heck is up with that I really don't well I I thank him too oh yeah I do I thank you very much well what do you say we fire up the mini slle and we'll see if we can't capture some gold out of this uncapturable material right here that stuff's actually we can get some of that I'm sure you will question is how much yep well we're going to find out okay now before we run it over that little cleanup slle over there we're going to strain some of this stuff out down to through a 50 mesh classifier here so this stuff is obviously good and dry it's a little bit Dusty and there look to be some material that's not going to go through there and that slle over there was designed for material smaller than say 40 or 50 for sure it's micro gold so we're going to strain some of this stuff out and fire that bad boy up see if we can't get a little bit of gold out of it it's kind of nice having somebody else do all the work burn right right riby pour the slimes in here to keep getting it too dirty all right so he's got all the stuff that was turned into powder back at his Ranch strained through a 50 mesh classifier and now he's going to attempt to pan everything that wouldn't go through the 50 mesh here and he says he's got a a fairly easy way to do this I've seen him try it on some material that I sent them and it just it's not the same uh that black poison I sent them I think you're were trying to do that with this stuff or that that stuff there and it just poison yeah it just didn't work but uh apparently this here see what I'm doing is I'm agitating it so it's fluidized the gold sinking to the bottom it's flat so it's going to be somewhere on this surface then while keeping it fluidized if I just tip it towards the front the stuff on top goes off the front and by only getting letting a little of it Go and bringing everything back down to the bottom again now we don't know if we're going to find any gold in here cuz this is kind of close to the top size of what I do uh I don't have a whole lot of gold corsers than 50 mesh that's just the way it is with hard rock well I got to tell you that scares me right there because that definitely will not work with that beach sand the flaky stuff with the flaky gold we get around here that it just won't go through the sand that sand sits at the bottom and the Gold flays Flat right on it now if you have real fine gold as you do this and you got good quality or you're going to see little corners of gold right there yep and typically that's going to happen add about A4 of an ounce to the ton let's see what we got here now there just a few big chunks come on gold oh I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see very much at all so it's like prospecting anywhere no this stuff's just too damn fine couple little pieces it looks like yeah most of our stuff is fine enough that it's definitely under 50 mesh by a long shot well we'll try to get that cleaned up and we'll pick it back up when we see some nuggets oh we're close right now yep tap them over there and let's see I think I can see one or two little time to get out the loop oh yeah that's a handy dandy little Loop there too it's got a nice light on it we never see nuggets there's no such thing as nuggets well let's see there's some welding slag so we're clearly getting coarse Stu there primarily what I'm seeing is welding slag but there's a couple of chunks there that one in particular it looks like a piece of metal that's been kind of shaved and rolled up impossible to tell but it's not a real clean gold at a minimum so why don't you take a look right there right above there well I tell you what you're not going to see it with that camera yeah we're not going to see it with the camera I'll take a look and then I think we're going to fire up the slle and see uh See if we can't coagulate a whole bunch in some of these riffles here that we can actually see I'm sure learning a lot let me tell you we like teaching a lot really time for the legendary PBR time for a cold PBR so I can get well I got to see something all right Keith did a pan of that really fine stuff and he got some extremely extremely small gold there it is up at the top you know we've seen some of this small stuff before so I thought I'd take a little crack at it with a little bit of a Placer twist yeah and we got some gold too yes you did all right let's see right here that stuff is extremely small all that stuff right there all the way down well that's gold right there let me see if I can get that in the light a little more see that extremely small and I got mine a little clean I'm hoping that we can capture quite a bit of that stuff through that SLO right there because that's what it was made for this is fairly light material there's a very little bit of uh heavy material in there there's some nice gold in there cleaner yep I would say we're roughly the same amount yep very nice stuff you know I think we can capture that only one way to find out though right well for me that's Co gold yep anything you can't see that's what he deals in we're going to see if we can put some stuff through there that we can right now all right we've got everything smaller than 50 mesh other than those two pans we just did in this here bucket so I'm going to go ahead and fire up my cleanup slle right here let me hook up the power there we go and we'll turn it on and we have juice almost there it comes looks like it's coming out extremely fast we're going to turn that way down always start low and go from there so that's extremely low we'll go ahead and grab a little bit of this here here it's just like it's almost like uh it's hard to explain like dry flow but it's wet so we'll drop that on there you see how nice and slow that's creeping on down that's about the speed we want but we need just a little bit more water to push the material down a little bit faster than that it's good thing that this water is just as clean as it is that we can tell what we need to do with our water and our pitch so I'll turn that up just a hair there we go and as you can see now it's starting to creep down a little bit slower or a little bit faster rather and spread out a little bit so I'm going to grab another one some more of this here flour and we'll put that one on there well that stuff doesn't even want to come off the spoon but it's really going down there extremely slow and you can see stringers in there where it's starting to bound up in the in the riffles a little bit but by the time they get down to the bottom that there's no more stringers because this slle has small riffles and they gradually get a little bit larger till you get down to the end and that's what those are for kind of a backup if you will so I'm going to feed a bunch of this through there and uh see what we come up with all right test number one complete we have all that material run through the cleanup slle and here's the gold right here that we captured let me see if I can put that in three a little bit hopefully get it to focus that is Micron gold all day long there's probably thousands of pieces in there and the size of those pieces make that a mountain right there just insane small gold that is all gold all the way down to the right and left so we did definitely capture gold now we're running a test to see uh tailings losses uh well I want to say it was easy to pan but it was easy enough to pan that I think we can figure out if we're losing uh gold I mean no system will catch it all but there's limits to your losses acceptable losses let's see well we've been playing around and playing around with different materials of this and that and those guys got it pretty rough over there but we did recover a bunch of gold uh we had a few losses just this material is totally foreign to me but we did uh I think capture an acceptable rate uh for sure uh you're not going to run tons through this system but uh if you're going to you know it's raining outside and you just want to sit in and maybe have some fun with a little slle that's the guy right there now uh these guys we went over the gifts they brought some really cool rocks some ore and these Crystal samples over here well we gave these guys a little something something to it's a limited edition flower gold wizard bag right there there's only two in the whole wide world I have one and now they have one and it's packed with all kinds of goodies and we're going to take a little bit of a look well that's not well you're going to have to do it you have stronger fingers yeah it's got a little knot in it there we go there you go that is a solidly constructed and so pretty I mean look at rri there is some definitely some stuff for even in there and you're going to really really enjoy I hope there's some uh polished rocks from Lake Superior in there oh and there's a couple of agots from down in Mexico that got polished up real nicely but I figured you'd appreciate them and that's why we included them and RI has been very well behaved the whole time RI is definitely been well behaved the whole time yeah he's a hardworking minor he's took yeah oh beautiful well he's been supervising yep he's the supervisor you realize Professor hard rock that this means you have to take me to Hobby Lobby because I need some wire so I can do oh wow that's native float copper yep people just go out and Native copper metal detect for that stuff you see this means I have to get some wire so I can do wire wrapp uh when in doubt go shopping when in doubt go shopping I really like this particular one here rig looks really good on that yep that's a about a five or six year old sticker right there or picture right in my lab there you can scoop some scoop some of that material on your slle oh that's going to be great in my lab for other things and that is a uper light polished right there let me grab a uer light light which is right over here yep right there native copper yeah that's that's copper that is and here's our uite there we go oh that's pretty does it turn in color oh yeah oh yeah beautiful orange there you go oh wow yeah here put it under here oh look that so great it is I hope you guys enjoy that stuff and of course we sent you a bag of flower gold wizard painter right there absolutely chock full of gold yeah way bigger than the stuff that you guys mind I really appreciate the native copper yeah don't have any samples of that well you do now this is going to be perfect for your sample box excellent going to be perfect for me well I sure had a blast I can't thank these guys enough for making the trip and bringing all the stuff and really showing me opening up my eyes I should say to other types of materials and other types of gold mining I don't know if I have the patience to work with all that stuff it's so darn small these glasses aren't nearly thick enough they'd have to be 5 Ines thick for me to do his job so thank you guys again for coming you're it really nice to meet you guys in person thank you and it's been great being hopefully sometime you can get over there to and we can show you how it works on a machine type scale absolutely that sounds like a lot of fun so go ahead underground so go ahead and check these guys out at Hard Rock University till the next episode like share subscribe please do leave a comment it helps build our Channel flower gold wizards and Hard Rock University out
