Hannah Waddingham on Ted Lasso Emmy Nomination, Eating Terrible Biscuits & Playing Shame Nun on GOT

our next guest is nominated for an emmy this weekend and she is responsible for a sharp increase in global biscuit sales is part of the 20-time nominated ted lasso i've been asked to come in and tell you to lower your voices the vicar looked like he wanted to swear is everything all right yeah of course he's trying to figure out who rebecca shagging ah oh i know and it's good mother oh hang on waddingham [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you for coming it's very good to have you here it is bloody lovely to meet you and the show is so great and congratulations on your nomination crazy are you going to the show on twitter oh yes you are oh my god and i'm going to try and make sure i'm not drunk by the time i get there this is happy times for a little girl from south london you have to be careful because you know there's a good chance you'll win and if you do if you do i'm saying you're going to have to give a speech and you don't necessarily want to be hammered yeah good luck student yeah have you prepared your thoughts no you've not not at all i think that's danger path oh no no no no what if you forget somebody no well they're just gonna they have to deal with it okay because i just think you know there's seven glorious women all together and i just think whoever's name they call out i'm gonna be like because they're all effing brilliant okay all right it's very i mean i don't believe that for a second but i'll tell you that's so true no it's so true because i tell you what as well you know when you i i don't shy away from it when you're in the mid 40s and this suddenly comes along into your life i've had a lot of time to wait for it i'm just genuinely really proud of you excellent excellent well that's good well i i do that's good karma too you know i think that ups your chances of winning even more who knows yeah okay so um well i have to tell you something when i realized and i didn't know this yes that you were also the uh nun who said shame shame on game of thrones you mean me knew through the street yeah that was that was my finest prettiest hour [Applause] did people do people typically put that together do they realize that no no no they don't i mean they are left right and center now and thankfully everyone's shocked so that's good but i loved it because it meant that i could just sit sleeping in the trailer for hours on end looked like i'd been dug up and they'd go yeah that looks great [Laughter] and and you and lena headey are friends oh we all had you been friends before the show or was that how you met no we met on it and just fell in love with each other immediately much like myself and and juno on our show i just think sometimes you meet what we call in england birds you know birds birds and you're just like yeah you're a bird i'm a bird that's it we're in flunk spend time together do you guys hang out we in fact when i was here in l.a a few weeks ago for the premiere and then i had to shoot over to new york and i went out and met up for some food and we were thought we thought we were in a really like low-key little cafe and just sticking our heads together and and ruminating about things and what we'd like to do together work-wise and stuff after all this is finished and it was brilliant because about a week later this woman who'd come up and said could i get a photo of you we thought we'd been kind of inconspicuous this tweet said it was so lovely that lena and hannah had a photo with me and i'm so glad that you guys have finally come out together and it was like really like the world finally knows we do really love each other but well that's pretty crazy do you think she really believed that or she was goofing around no no it's the way she was just like i'm so glad everyone finally knows well yeah when you lead somebody through the street naked people jump to conclusions you're kind of bummed over that yeah do people give you biscuits a lot now oh my god any biscuit is better than the season one bit we got you some biscuits i know you like the biscuits ted i mean jimmy they're beasts yeah they're big biscuits yeah we don't mess around can i have a little chest you're gonna have the whole box if you want sure yeah let me know what you think i mean just immediately better better they're better than the ones although the the ones from season two i think because i have complained about them so globally they've added a lot of butter and a lot of sugar and that's always going to make things better are they baking those specifically for you for the show or are they buying it from a place oh no no but that was the problem because it was my own fault season one mm-hmm i am don't you take my business no no i'll i just want to make sure season one don't sneeze on i was meant to be eating the biscuit because there's a whole thing about eventually you know tip if there's any spoiler alert here ted's making them mm-hmm but i they didn't expect me to go at them like a truffle hound because i decided that rebecca should be like an emotional eater uh-huh so i'd be like and then at the end of the take they were like do you want like a spit bucket and i just thought no that's very inelegant so i just constantly went with them so it's not really their fault i did i did add it as quite a thing it'd be great if by like season five you've ballooned up to 340 pounds and like these biscuits are really really good does jason fit in jason sedegas with um i know you guys shoot over in london does he fit in as an american with the rest of the gang oh oh my god totally yeah him and brendan hunt they're just they just they've become these kind of anglophiles oh they have yeah yeah absolutely yeah i mean i suppose you just gotta embrace it and we are a nauseatingly happy bunch it's well it makes sense although it would be i guess probably people would think it was more interesting if this show about this nice guy and this group of people who are really coming together yeah really hated he was a real artist yeah yeah no i mean i would happily be stuck in a lift with any of them i would i would and that's so nice and and as you get older the most important thing and i suppose that's what comes through the screen is the fact that we dig the living out of each other it does come through the screen okay so you got the emmys are you going to go to a party afterwards we are going to all of the parties go to all of the parks of course are there parties no no can i tell you something it's funny you say that because i and i'm not bringing this up and don't give me the applause because because we are nominated for an emmy as well and i will tell you that i've not been invited by not saying anything they're saying something for sure yeah well um i hope i hope have fun at the parties oh it's like oh i will i'll call you can i tell you i wouldn't go to the parties anyway no you wouldn't want to go anyway no i don't need people sneezing on me no uh well congratulations on all the success of the show and um i have a feeling you're gonna you guys are gonna have like uh uh you know what the canadians did it last year and maybe the brits will do it this year oh my god i mean that would just be dreamy and i have to say that the most important thing for me as much as i love all of this i feel rebecca welton ripping through my bloodstream and i can't wait to sit at my desk in january and start shooting the next part of her story i think we're all looking forward to it ted lasso is on uh apple tv plus on fridays hannah
