HALLOWEEN (1978) Filming Locations of South Pasadena* + HADDONFIELD Museum TOUR Behind MYERS HOUSE

and so this Creature Feature begins at the corner of Oxley and Montrose in South Pasadena California and right here on the screen on my phone Haddonfield Illinois the establishing shot from Halloween 1978 and I'm recreating right here with my camera I'm gonna drop my phone what it looks like today the establishing shot this location of one of the most iconic horror movies of all time and I had to come here it's my first time ever visiting some Halloween filming locations oh man I'm so excited all that's missing is a few leaves Chris you mean like bees leaves right here yeah do you want to throw the leaves in the shot yeah nailed it a little more though just leave a little more leaves yeah just some more actually just throw them all out there hadn't found in Haddonfield okay let's try this again with the leaves there we are oh spooky I can't believe we're here oh yeah there's one too and here we are in Haddonfield Illinois 1978 Edition the original filming location I have always wanted to come here this is a big moment for myself and for Chris the girl both individually and together this is our first time seeing these locations I've really looked forward to coming out here uh Upon Our Journey here to California it also being you know Halloween right around the corner this movie's such a big deal to so many including myself Halloween there's some new movies out right now Halloween ends uh just came out like two days ago I haven't seen it yet but the whole point of this video right here is our experience my experience seeing these locations in South Pasadena for my first time ever ever and like I was super stoked and nervous driving up here and starting right here at the opening shot uh already Goosebumps and you notice right away that the Hedge yep is over there there to the left hedge ahead Edge ahead Michael Myers began right here in South Pasadena there are other locations throughout Los Angeles we're not going to do a full length filming locations video on Halloween 1978. a ton of my friends have already done that um not saying I I will never do it but I'm a little short on time but if you want to check out more of the locations check out some of my friends out there on YouTube and um yeah this is it it begins right here at the corner of actually in Montrose and uh Halloween 1978 the locations of South Pasadena there's much a hedge Michael a hitch Michael a hedge and I have Halloween downloaded on my phone so I will be actually showing some of the scenes and the current state of those locations just wanted to point out right here at the establishing shot at this intersection this house and the stop sign can clearly be seen today right there the peak of the roof was my biggest identifier as we pulled up in the rental car and just looked over looking at this shot I'm like oh yeah there's that house right there and also the stop sign and the Street Lamp all the same Haddon field had to find the iconic hedge Michael Myers headshot you actually just come right up the street here up the sidewalk on Montrose there's actually a gentleman up there taking photos of the spot right now second person we've seen out here so far just being here for five minutes quite a lot of people uh have been taking photos goes by the Hedge and I didn't even look over there one can't that we got here there's been here I imagine see more oh my God walking slowly up here I'm getting the Goosebumps it's the Hedge right down there yep for the shape that's where the shape first stood well oh no that's just the squirrel never mind you can also see these houses and Halloween as well when the reverse shot of Lori Strode walking actually she would be walking towards us away from the the bush I believe you can see them and here we are in screen the shot from the movie and here we are today holy cow this is amazing they even have a sign right there on the Hedge that says Haddonfield we'll get a whole lot closer but let me do that again this is so cool you can actually make out the edge of the house right here and there specifically that window up there and this tree to the right that's the same tree today just all grown up freaking Michael Myers oh my gosh I'm so nerding out right now this is amazing you play the scene too as it goes okay they're walking up this way [Music] just walking right there oh my gosh creep checking the bush Okay we're gonna get closer [Music] he wants to take you out tonight welcome to Haddonfield this is it Michael Myers one foot this way kind of like this you can see where a lot of people have been stepping here and stepping out looking back hey Chris the girl there's someone over here they want they want to talk to you yeah they want to take you out there you go that's what she says right there oh my gosh here it is then now wow shape actually let me let me play this scene a little more [Music] you're Jamie Lee Curtis right now and then they look [Music] standing right here scared another one away tragic never go out wow and then they walk kind of this way and you can make out this house hold on wait for it different angle but this house right here to the right and they walk past that edge so cool when they're done we can take a picture and the Hedge in Haddonfield right here in South Pasadena of course drawing a crowd a lot of fans doing the same as we just did right here all right you doing a fan film I've already been made it oh you did oh yeah CNC films CNT films okay so we posted it I'll have to check that out all right scroll down to like 2018 or 19. okay it's been non-stop non-stop since we got here I love it and cutting through Pasadena through the next Halloween filming location passing by the historic Rialto Theater a little update to my Scream 2 filming locations the scenes filmed in the beginning at the theater right here at Rialto and uh I believe I think they filmed Thriller here the music video it's a thriller I think this is the theater in the beginning cool mural here on the side of this building here on Oxley looks like Pasadena was uh founded in 1910. dude riding a buggy here ostrich Farm oh wow okay yeah the South Pasadena ostrich Farm 1910. okay so maybe the ostrich Farm was founded in 1910. you hear that oh this is creepy they sound like bats yeah I doubt they're ostrich I don't think they're the ostriches also a lot of Halloween decor in the Halloween neighborhood oh yeah look over here I know where they got that Spirit Halloween alert this one's good too you got a little graveyard we've arrived and we parked the car noisy birds back there yeah and a lot of people over here doing the same as they were doing at the last location right here at the corner this is where the pedestal is where you get the iconic shot of Lori Strode Jamie Lee Curtis sitting with a pumpkin right over there also this is the Strode house we're gonna show you a couple screenshots take some photos over here so if you're looking for the Strode house and the iconic shot you got to come to the corner of Fairview and Oxley right here in South Pasadena I'm gonna play the movie real time here so after the establishing shot you immediately wait for it wait till it transitions you immediately see right here there's the park the camera goes over here and this tree that tree right there and there's the Strode house and the camera kind of goes in like this past this tree and then you get a close-up of Lori coming out of her house right here here's the screenshot right here Jamie Lee Curtis passing her dad's car right there after she left the door to the left Strode Realty on the sign there the tree to the right still here today as well look at that different paint job different color this is where the Strode house was also she walks right down here to the corner hold on let the scene progress right here and then a shot this way of the house and the pedestal we gotta drop the key off at the Myers place oh my gosh look at that then now in a popular place especially this close to Halloween and I love it when the owners of filming locations iconic spots embrace the movie you're allowed to come up here sit on the pedestal with a pumpkin yeah they got some pumpkins for you they had some signage yeah there too that's awesome that they do that and so as you can see the folks behind us are doing that we're just waiting our turn right there's the pedestal this is freaking epic freaking sick man I keep saying that it's freaking sick and replaying the scene now this is a little later in the movie at the 2855 Mark Lori rolling past the street here rolling past the tree I've already placed the pumpkin on the pedestal she sits right here [Music] oh my gosh that's amazing and here we go I'm gonna have Chris the girl demonstrate all right she's going up into the shot all right you gotta kinda you're gonna kind of sit on the pedestal kind of hang your feet a little bit like that and look to the left I'm sorry to your right just like that let me go back a little bit hold on I have to shift the camera I think it's more like let's see oh yeah right there that's amazing all right my turn I gotta do it it's Gotta gotta holds it like this kind of looking this way and then there's a shot the screen uh the camera looking down the street this way all the way around this and of course she gets picked up by our friend got it there it is now we're here hello how do you feel move over there's a new effects predator in town okay we just had way too much fun Took a ton of pictures of course Jamie Lee Curtis sat right there almost what 40 45 years ago we're coming up on the 45th anniversary holy cow I think it'll be next year right and here you go we're just putting the pumpkin back on the porch thank you so much for whoever owns this house oh look they also have oh just everything we showed so you have a guide of what was filmed here and also there's an iconic shot of Jamie Lee Curtis in between the scenes of filming right out here in front of the house that is so awesome that they've done this I really love that they're embracing this okay now I think I think that just leaves us with one more location here in South Pasadena as far as this filming locations video Halloween and I think you might know where we're going it's one of the most important locations and all of horror yeah I said it we're heading to the Myers house oh my gosh and we're just heading a few blocks over we could actually probably walk there but we're gonna move the car here's some Halloween decor point four miles away a two minute drive here we come 709 Meridian Avenue passing the South Pasadena Historical Museum on the way nice little downtown area here oh another filming location right here Halloween oh this is the store I believe yeah okay got lucky that's cool and a train coming as we parked here in South Pasadena I didn't realize how close to the main intersection the Myers house is you can see it right here to the left as we came across here goes the trade there's a lot of folks gathered out here here we come oh man there it is sugar mint Gallery right behind the Myers house there's an event right here on the sidewalk what's it say s featuring screen news props behind the scenes photos tons of Michael Arch photo ops focus focus section and more this is happening with right now I think right now right now yeah right in there oh my gosh all right all right let's go what do you think we should check out the house and then check this out or should go to the house first hmm decisions decision what would Michael do he'd probably like uh annihilate everyone around here that's true okay Michael house right there Meyer's house Gallery okay let's go in here first okay maybe it'll make this more exciting it's already exciting I don't know we'll go in here oh gosh Chris Michael's right out back oh he is he's right there yeah just hanging out looking over at his house welcome to Sugar mint Gallery this is that's to say that actually startled me hey Michael what's going on dude just chilling chilling on the roof looks like he's got something in his hand oh I didn't know I didn't know you smoked keep sugar mint spooky okay twenty dollars each entry we've paid up and right here in the opening room just kind of take a look a little tour around here there's also there's also a little doggy in here so cute greetings from Haddonfield and just last night over at son of monster palooza I saw Nick Castle standing in the doorway of the restaurant of the Marriott Hotel in Burbank talking to the current Michael Myers James Jude Courtney they are both over at that convention together right now not far from Pasadena I always love this iconic shot I actually got an autograph from Nick one time on this same photo all right pay no attention to the Man Behind the curtain oh puppy scare oh wow there he is that's amazing welcome to Haddonfield you can't kill the boogeyman boogie man right here this is the Halloween kills the shape James Jude Courtney version it says it right here [Music] Christopher Nelson and Vincent Van Dyke special effects creation his burnt mask [Music] did he move D thought he moved ooh so far to see a lot of artwork right here in the front room creepy music playing and Michael right outside the window of the Myers house and some more uh paintings over here displayed on this wall I like the one right in the center Mikey Myers opening scene it's really cool artwork shout out to the artist this was painted by Robert Burr a six-year-old killer child on canvas for 850 dollars it could be yours did you hear that oh also look at that one that's John Carpenter creating the soundtrack and writing some still shots of the production of Halloween and some more artwork as we turn the corner into the second room Michael picking up the telephone here's the second room look at this really pops up the orange lights there's another Michael over there to the right wait for it wait for it here he comes boom [Music] that's the original shape right there Captain Kirk no there you go [Music] through the Miss and a collection of knives now this is like a linear knife uh it's paying homage to all the Halloween movies we got 78 part two we got Season of the Witch we've got the return the revenge the curse 20 years later H2O and then you have Resurrection I know that's everyone's favorite the devil's eyes have these are the Rob Zombie ones and we've got the white horse Halloween 2 Covington Georgia and then 2018 kills and they even have ends on here just came out two days ago the artwork in here so cool these are all artists local artists in the area their fans of Halloween oh look they've even got the McDonald's buckets right there that's awesome a little uh cross between Halloween three and the McDonald's buckets and as someone's taking a drink over there just showing you all the artwork on this wall what a lucky dog right behind the Myers house kind of got a Halloween three thing going on the TV there Michael also I hear the Beetlejuice soundtrack apparently they have us right behind the Meijer's house that's pretty cool it is awesome okay now according to the information below this book and all of you Hocus Pocus fans know what I'm looking at this is the screen used book from the movie right here in this Museum that's pretty amazing holy cow it's the Book of the Dead dude he said it incorrectly it's boom book oh wow that is so cool there you go okay so we have the side yard right here Meyer's house over there and also there's a room to the left and another room over there which door do we go through wanna go outside I think he said yeah she's saying go outside I guess I guess we're going outside looking right at Michael I know it's scary she's really looking at him she's like who's standing over there and she gave up Michael all right go slow Chris I think I saw a move holy crap I know this is awesome that's the house right there like this mural over here on the fence picket so sick yeah like all his freaking sick oh yeah check this out Halloween bucket pyramid and some Halloween three over here okay this is a much larger than I I thought it was not a really cool photo opportunity it takes a turn even goes out this way pretty cool place you got thank you you want to wash your hands is there a place just look at the look of everything I feel like I'm in Halloween sugar mint gallery right I know I love everything around here hello puppies are great take a screenshot here there's the back window he's a Peeping Tom oh wait wrong movie that movie also filmed in Pasadena though and a little Throne over here so many photo opportunities yeah this little Museum spooky skeleton one okay going into the room I think we're gonna go to the room to the right now the Sanderson Museum of Witchcraft oh okay that makes sense okay this whole room here is Hocus Pocus this is up our friend world of Mike is Ally you got Hocus Pocus and Halloween and here are four set photos of Bette Midler during the filming Hocus Pocus now I have not seen Hocus Pocus 2 yet it's been on the watch list I've heard good thanks and I've heard bad things no see someone's saying don't recommend on display next to Michael in here I walk past this have to point it out this is Officer Francis from the Halloween 2018. this is one of the props check that out oh man it's really good it's so realistic and last but not least the last room we've got Michael popping out of the closet just like the end of the film Michael popping through the closet door here really like this painting portrait style Michael by the Hedge and so much Halloween artwork all over the house so much and so good look at this I like that Halloween also kind of a cartoony version of Dr Loomis nice and there there's a cool photo of Jamie Lee Curtis holding the Dr Pepper just like we saw Nick Castle oh this is one of my favorite still shots Michael and Lamar's house looking down the stairs this whole wall right here all production um set shots check out John Carpenter peeking around the curtains there and all the way down here some really good ones some more down here how has Plumas in front of the Myers house oh look we were just there just there and now we're about to be right there here's a look out the front window and we're gonna go down to the sidewalk and go left this house right there and here we are real time walking by the Myers house for the first time coming around the corner just so you can see the angles you don't see in the movie wow quite a busy intersection I don't know why I didn't realize that just one of those things about visiting filming locations in the reel kind of gives you a different perspective it does definitely here we go do do do do do do do do do do do do oh lordy 1 000 the Century House AKA the Myers residence and we're freaking here freaking here freaking here you're freaking Epic Man freaking sick oh my gosh look at this right there okay so a lot of you probably already know this but they they move the house this isn't the original location but it's the house a very popular one indeed and just for the comparison I've got the screen grab of the Myers house from Halloween 1978.
