oh nice sorry maybe this will save it more choose than I would have liked to go down so classy BuzzFeed I'm Celine and I'm Haitian and I have been making Haitian patties for about two years hey everyone I'm Kat LeBlanc or cutlene LeBlanc I am Haitian and I've been making patties for about a year and a half now hi my name is samanthina Zenon and I am Haitian I've been making homemade patties since I was eight years old what sets Haitian patties apart from other patties is the crust it's so good it's flaky it's amazing to me personally it's the filling because I don't want to just buy into bread I want to really taste what's inside of it you know what I'm saying the filling matters to me I really love like ground beef chicken and also the algon cell which is called like Erin filet you can also put hot dogs and eggs inside of them if you want so the fillings matters to me the most my mom and my grandma taught me how to make my Haitian patties it was just one day we were just in the kitchen and my grandma was like okay put the plate here put this here fold it this way and they've kind of got through it step by step for me and that was kind of a fun experience that I'm gonna hold forever what makes my Haitian Patty the best is my secret ingredient which I'll just tell you now old dog I put a lot of Sushi's in like just hot dog sausages pieces in it which I think gives it a lot of flavor laughs okay so this is a pate called it it's deep fried not into fried foods but do it for the culture let's see it's a little Spire stew which I love on the sweet side I would have liked a little kick I like spice I like the fact that it has the ground beef but also onions so I really do like the mix so the crust is bready and it took more chews than I would have liked to go down I feel like though the fry one I'd rather make them myself but I think I would prefer the one that are baked so these ones are like layered it has an interesting take texture and it's also a lot softer lots of peppers lots of onion which is very common in our culture and I see some sausage sometimes there's a surprise boiled egg which I'm glad was not in here I actually really like the fillings for this part brown patty I mean I definitely taste the seasoning but I guess for me personally I would rather a little bit more salt on a scale of one to ten based on my preference of not having to eat apothecore this morning and knowing what a pate for the tastes like I give this a six I'll give the cross a good egg because it's not really too hard so that's good I would say the same thing for the fillings this filling I give it about a six as well I would have liked like I said a little kick spice because our food generally does have a kick of spice we love that Scotch bonnet pepper in there good my Haitian Patty is better than all the rest today I'll just say today because I don't want to have a big hit about it definitely the fact that I put my own twist to it the type of fish I chose today was salmon my dad actually did own his own Bakery so I was really proud of him and I would go visit all the time I'd watch him make the patties and that's where I learned how to make patties my daddy boy oh nice I love all of this oh they got the piglies and the sauce so this is piglies it's actually a cabbage that's funny it's it's like soaked in like vinegar it's like our relish kind of we don't typically use sauces when we make our patties so that's definitely different the crust on this Patty like immediately I could tell that this is gonna be good I already felt the crunch I lifted it up I was like oh I definitely love the presentation and I love the look of it all it seems like it's more like baked than fried so I'm very curious to taste it a little nervous okay this definitely is the salmon one I think because I see some salmon in here it's really soft those taste like the type of patties that I would probably get like a bakery and also if you go to a Haitian event they'll probably serve these type instead because you can go to these bakeries and buy like a dozen of them people have fun this I think it's really good I would probably eat the Patty by itself without the dipping because I'm not really used to that dipping let me try it with the pinkies the piglet is not really um spicy I think I like it just the way it is without any of that other stuff what was the next question in my lifetime I would say that this Patty is definitely ranking on the high scale the cross is to me is a good nine mainly because it's very soft and this particular type is prepared differently and the crust shouldn't be too hard if it's too hard then it's overcooked when it comes to the cooking part that person did a really good job I'm gonna give this crust a 9 out of 10 because they really authentically like you're you're but fair they really like hit the powder just to make sure that it came out really like look like I'm touching it and it's literally crumbing up right now the fillings I would probably say seven if she would have I guess do the filling like more like homemade or do put like some eyepiece I think it would make the flavor go a lot more up there because I don't really taste the IPS in the fillings but it still tastes good but I feel like the fillings that feelings is not really the type of feelings we would usually use when we make our patties big like that the filling I'm also gonna give that a nine because I really think they took their time because which is fish is really hard I feel like to get into a Patty and and they did this really like elegantly leave that for me I'm gonna finish it God these are the best because I made them with so much love and I've been making them for so long I'm kind of self-taught because I watch adults making them when I was growing up in Haiti I used to have like a little Patty stand and it became a hit and I remember one time my grandmother who was living in America came to Haiti she was such a big fan of the patties personally for me when I'm like doing the dough I put oil in it to make sure that it's nice and soft and I roll it a lot because having a really good dough matters when you're making your patties [Music] which means this is a big boy oh another particular day am I the only one who made the regular Patty at least she gave me some pickles okay girl I see you we love pickley's here I'm a little sad because I didn't bring no piglets I missed the piggly's memo kick is loading all right okay I like the presentation I think it's really cute I could tell that this sap for a little bit was really getting the color so I like that I really do like that sorry it looks hard definitely crispier than the last I know my grandma's probably watching this like because I'm eating like I haven't eaten before it would say in curl they'd be like and I'm like Grandma okay very brighty again I do like the filling she definitely seasoned it very well it's um it's really doughy so the crust was cooked a little bit more than the other one I had it's crunchier but then towards the center is more ready and dough like on a doughy Patty I feel like sometimes it can like take away from the filling you know I'm gonna try with the piglets because maybe this will save it this crust is giving seven honestly just the personal preference of a don't like the deep fried like I have to be in the mood like I have to be like I'm gonna be bad today I'm gonna give this crust a nine though because I do love how crunchy it is I do love like listen to the prince I don't even know if you can hear it I'll give the filling an eight because it is really good there's just a lot of filling along you know filling is giving an eight if I was in the mood for a party for a day and I had to choose I would choose this one this is good y'all got some more [Music] thank you so much I'd like to thank puppy I knew I was gonna win I mean how can you go wrong with the flaky crust and the sauce that I put on the side and my own custom salmon on the inside like she it's just good and I just know that the Haitian person that made this you did that you did definitely go out there and try Haitian patties you can find Haitian bakeries and queens Brooklyn everywhere they are just a great snack at events and they are very delicious yeah one two day point blank period foreign
