Hack for Soap Scum Removal: Clean your shower and tub in less than 6 minutes

what a good southern girl like me really show you her dirty shower I would if I could teach you something so come on let's go see it [Music] hi there it's Jerry and I just wanted to check in with you it's still one of my first video so forgive all that one thing I wanted to chat with you today is one thing that none of us really enjoy doing and that's cleaning the bathroom especially the places that get the most water spots like your shower your bathtub and even then the bathtub doesn't get water spots it's so easy for the different oils that we use maybe if you use a bath bomb or the conditioners the soaps that we use to kind of get that I guess soap scum going on so I found this awesome technique because I really love to try and do everything as natural as possible especially my cleaning products and you know and also like - I do a lot with vinegar and you're gonna hear me talk about vinegar a lot but I had tried so many things we've got and I'm about to flip it over but we've got these glass shower doors I guess now's a great time so everything it's not just the shower doors obviously the entire shower there is all glass and I think that is probably even more bothersome than when you have a shower that people can't see there that you can't see through and so if we get in here close you can definitely see like how we've got some build-up going on here we've got a squeegee you know and if we are very ongoing purposeful with the squeegee then you know we can keep some of this down I'm just gonna pull this door out so we can see a little bit more you know and this is tough stuff I mean I you know I've got like one major heavy duty you know chemical cleaner that's a brand name I won't say but it won't even knock out this but I've and I've had that cleaner that I'm talking about you know knock out amazing stuff so I found that this technique this very very inexpensive technique is the very best way easiest way and certainly the fastest way to get your shower and get your bathtub cleaned in a clean your bathroom before you go to work and a little bit after work because you could spray this in the morning it's typical set times an hour depending on kind of what it is sometimes I can just spray it in the sinks over there and hopefully you're not seeing too much of that but I can spray it in the sinks over there and it goes a lot faster but typically the time that you would want to have it sit is about an hour especially for shower doors like this or or for something that's really been a challenge for you for a long time in your shower maybe you've got a brown spot or several brown spots or a black spot even you know that might take a little bit more work the first time but even my experience with the first time I did this one hour was a miracle and it's so easy there's no there's not gonna be any scrubbing you're gonna see that I'm gonna wipe as lightly as possible now there's one drawback to this and that is that it is very strong and it's because it's a combination of a dish soap a very specific dish soap and we'll get into that when I share how to make it with you but the combination of those two really really amplifies the vinegar smell and and I thought the first time I did oh I use vinegar and all the time it doesn't matter I'll be able to handle it but it was tough for me and it took me a couple of hours to get the smell out of my nose so I picked up some little facemask from the dollar store and between that and running the mint and this time I'm actually probably going to put something down on the floor so that I can keep this door right here open and I'm probably gonna cut that because again you've got to see my dirty countertop so back to where we were so that's the only drawback is that it is kind of heavy with smell and so that's another reason why I see this as something really easy to do before you go to work you could spray it in one minute and when you come home maybe even that night when you like go to shower or just go in like you're gonna shower and rinse it off and then you've got almost like a 5-minute cleaning of a shower with no elbow grease so I'm gonna cut and then I'm gonna let you watch me show spray it on and after I spray it on we're gonna do a time check and then we'll check back in an hour and show you how easy that way [Music] you you okay so it's 3:19 and can you see that good okay so it's 3:19 we'll set a timer for one hour and we'll check back with you then so see you soon hi there so we're back and this is pretty much how things are gonna look just kind of like maybe some soap just got stuck to the walls or something so I'm gonna hop in there and we're gonna set a stopwatch and kind of get an idea just about how long it takes me to do this rinse process we figured out that it took me just about a minute and a half to spray and the mask really helped I don't have any residual smells of the vinegar going on for me now so now I'm gonna hop in there and excuse me I'm in my swimming suit but that's because I'm gonna get wet and I'm sure there's probably ways to do this and not get so wet but this is how I'm used to cleaning in my shower okay so I'm just gonna head in now with a little simple wash cloth and I really want you to pay attention to the fact that I'm not scrubbing at all I'm gonna go in I'm gonna get the water running really just enough to get this wet I'm gonna go along and just kind of smooth everything and make it even and then I'm gonna rinse it off and it's gonna be all done and then I'm going to use my squeegee just to show you how clear it looks there's gonna be a little bit of stuff that was on the outside but we I'm going to show you how quick and easy it is to clean that up also so here we go [Music] the you [Music] you okay solve designer it is basically at this point you wouldn't have to be doing this squeegee work but this is what I showers anyway so I'm also going to do it just to kind of help you see out there these are different mate like I said even outside water what okay so I just thought real quickly sprayed a little bit of a beginner vinegar on the outside of the doors use my same little washcloth rub it real quick oh look I still have a little bit to do on that side it didn't do that outside of that but let's just go in close and look at this let's hope clear and we timed it and it was like three minutes and thirty seconds or so that it took me to get that all rinsed down so like I said this really is basically a 5-minute cleaning the shower trick that will work for back so hi there welcome back now it's the time that I'm gonna share with you that magic recipe that helped me get my shower so clean and it really is as simple as these two ingredients my favorite ingredient vinegar just distilled white vinegar and Dawn the recipes that I found recommended dawn and specifically only this kind this special Dawn's that had platinum or any of this special bleach anything special but I'll be honest with you I did do this with a generic version of the plane just plain blue dawn from our grocery store and it worked exactly the same this we got today at the 99-cent store for 99 cents now I use this Pyrex measuring cup because I can do everything in the same container the original recipe that I got called for an equal parts recipe 1 cup of the vinegar and 1 cup of the dawn however I found that it's actually a little bit better if you back up on the dawn a little bit so what I do is a cup of the the vinegar and I do just a little bit less than a cup of the dawn and then we're gonna microwave it and and the reason why that is I think the important thing to know about this mix here is the dawn is enabling the vinegar to stay on the surface that you're springing it on that's that's why we end up with all the soap likes kind of soap looking drips on the window it's also got all the awesome cleaning power that it uses when you know cleans grease off your dishes and stuff like that but I really think the primary relationship here is keeping the vinegar on the surface so that they can do all the natural work that it's capable of doing and the other thing that I would mention there is that Oh another important thing to know about that is if you ever decided to use this in on a surface besides the shower a toilet or a sink where you can readily get water on it the thing that's gonna cut it if you will or make this soap completely dissipate is to use just pure vinegar spray and that's what I do on the outside of my shower doors when I need to clean up the spots I use a little bit of the blue spray on outside my washcloth to wipe it all down but then right before I go to use my squeegee and that's all I do is I just use the squeezy I really douse it with just a you know a water vinegar mix and a spray bottle and then I wipe down with a squeegee and wipe off with a towel and that's it it's it's completely done all right and the third thing that you're going to need is just the spray bottle and again this was 99 cents at the 99-cent store so altogether we've got about three dollars worth of an investment here and so it's very inexpensive and it's something that you can use over and over and make easily measuring cup I changed out measuring cups because I remember that I actually like using this one a little bit better and that holds four cups we're only going to be using two cups total and we're not gonna have any bubble over going on in this and it's just easier for me to kind of do so I'm going to put one cup of vinegar in here and this bottle I've done the small size is always going to be 8 ounces which is about exactly 1 cup and so to save time I'm just gonna pour it like this and I'm gonna bring it back up and I'm going to show you that I'm actually just going to take it right up to that line below the full two cups that's probably like 3/4 so probably 3/4 of a cup of Dawn and one full cup of vinegar and the next thing we're going to do to fuse and marry these two ingredients is we're gonna throw it in the microwave for exactly one minute and any time I look for a hat for myself or I look for it for you or even a recipe we're cooking at home if it's it's if it's something new I want to do it to a meat or it's um something that I've had before at a restaurant that I want to try and create at home I'll read several things and come up with what seems like the best scenario and one of one of the great tips I got is that you really only want to microwave this for exactly one minute so that's what we're gonna do now we're gonna microwave it for one minute okay we've got about ten seconds left here on the microwave so we're just going to let that finish out pull it out for you and there's not really gonna be a dramatic change in what we see when it comes out but one thing that you don't really want to do is is cause a lot of action and agitation with your mixture right now we're gonna stir it just a little bit with a whisk but it's not it's not gonna be anything fast and that's because we don't want what happens when you stir up soap fast against soapy and sudsy and foamy so we're just gonna do a little bit of a mix up there just a little and now we're gonna pour it into the bottle and you want to be very careful because one minute in a microwave for liquids is usually pretty warm and even you'll feel it if you're holding a bottle down here so I'm gonna try and hold it right here and slowly pour this into the bottle now once you have it in the bottle you know your again you don't want to shake this you can have a completely full bottle of this and if you shake it up all you're gonna be causing is a bunch of foam and air to get into your your squirt and mechanism and then nothing's going to come out and sometimes if you leave this sitting in the cabinet like you used it for one cleaning and you have some or quite a bit left over I normally would wipe all that out cuz that's that I will do that when we're done anyhow say it's been in the cabinet for a minute and it's just when you get ready to use it again you don't want to shake it if it's been in the cabinet a minute you kind of just want to swirl it around a little bit and if you then go to spray it and it's not really spraying out easily just add a little bit of vinegar because what is the vinegar to do it loosens up and breaks and cuts the the dawn just a little bit so those are the little kind of you know what do you call that when you know those are just little things to troubleshoot as if it's not spraying you probably either shook it up or you need a little bit of vinegar in there because your dawn got too strong so that's it and once you have that made up then you can head right into the bathroom or wherever you're working and go to work we've used it out on the patio table I just really want to encourage you to use it in places that it's easy for you to rinse it off and the kids are running through so that's life it seems like there's one more thing I wanted to say and I'm oh I really am really and truly I want you to get yourself a little face mask of some kind and and keep your kids away my kids they're not that fond of vinegar but when I go to use this they immediately they just go the other way and always run your exhaust fan that's something that you definitely want to always run your exhaust fan if you've got a window in the bathroom open that up great to do it before you go to work and this is a simple little $3.00 remedy that is really going to take the scrubbing and the egg out of your back when it comes to cleaning your bathroom in five minutes or less thanks hey listen if you like this today please do like but by no means at all am I an expert at hacking
