normal guitar stores we thought we'd see what kind of hidden gems we could find in my cities pawn shops the city of Louisville where I live has a metro area population of about 1.5 million people making it the forty-fifth largest metro area in the United States and by far the largest in the state of Kentucky and as with any city of this size pawn shops are numerous and widespread however the high concentrations of pawn shops occur in two general areas the downtown and the southwest side it is this latter area we'll be concentrating on today the first shop we hit is one of a larger chain of stores called mr. money I've been in this place a lot in the past as I used to live nearby and I've gotten some good stuff here before it does look like they might not have many guitars right now if their Google profile is to be believed but the thing about pawn shops is that can change from one day to the next so we decided to stop in anyway and that would prove to be a bit of a mistake as you'll soon see both as steady as you can and the mic is wide right there so I'm sorry I'm just a youtuber we are going around to the different place that's cool yeah we're just looking okay are you the only what are you gonna do with with the info with the info yeah are you paranoid about something I really am I'm not sure I want people putting stuff on the end enough they get out of our property here okay you have any kind of identification or something I can make a copy of why would that do that because why would you come into my store and take pictures of stuff that you're planning on putting on the Internet well actually we were just gonna the young lady said that her husband was a fan of the channel that's what we were gonna film okay yeah videos I'm sorry you just caught me off guard I here's the thing I totally recognize your vibe right now and that's a vibe I usually put out that's actually so I'm like if being confronted with the same thing it's almost like yeah sorry I was I was gonna talk to Maria but never mind okay okay so yeah we just stopped in at a mr. money on Bardstown Road and met a nice nice girl named Maria walked in I might be hi Maria she recognized me instantly which was just oddball that's actually the fourth time we've determined for that I'm bidding that already that I've been recognized which is just weird because you're so damn I'm just not used to this you know at least not out outside the strip club you know usually everybody recognizes me they're like hey Brad yeah we've saved your seat no kidding I don't feel stupid anyway anymore anymore usually on weekdays try to scale back put it this way so how about that yeah so we I walk in you know Maria recognizes me instantly and I said hey you want to be on the channel and we start making a I was gonna make a clip of like hey you know what you got any decent old guitars that come in or anything I was just gonna ask her some questions you know like you would normally have in a conversation you would have in a pawn shop you know because that's what we were was the pawn shop and then one of her good she was like yeah yeah absolutely so I started start you know filming and then I was gonna talk to her and then the students out of the back room what's going on here was do you know and like just being real paranoid and it's like what was that off-putting about it is how I've been prepared for it it would have been fine like if I talked to him first but he just like made me all clammy yeah I clammed up I was like look I was like dude I was like you know I tried to approach him and like shake his hand go hey man you know my name is Brad I'm sorry we were just I didn't even know you're back there kind of thing and we were just gonna film a little bit of your guitars I have a youtube channel I was gonna I was gonna tell him you I have a YouTube channel this and that but he wouldn't even give me a chance to really when what are you doing here what are you filming my things for in the shop the precious things of the shop you know why are you filming these precious things at the shop kind of thing they didn't say that assuming the precious things of the shop we must stop him and he's like I had up I dealt with a band who had their gear stolen and all I see is one Squire strat and a couple of coos I'm like whoa where is it all if it's yeah and the thing is yeah he tried to give us some lame excuse like oh you know it he tried to walk it back like after Maria said you know hey he's like a youtuber and he's like you know he's okay you know basically trying to say he's on vacation to prove that my license doesn't say the pathology he was like I can't see some license that I can copy because to your license that could come like why would I give you my license to copy it's like why would I do that I did pull out my life since I was like here you want to see it here it is but I've got nothing to hide but why would I want to give you it to copy it's like what is this you know and why would somebody who has turned in stolen goods come back to film the stolen goods they turn is this like you're not thinking logically you're just thinking someone filming in my shop you know yeah well he's mine he has corporate protocol yet per protocol which okay that's fine but you know the thing is don't don't come at me with this paranoid not here I'm not saying it's an [ __ ] I wish I wish we'd actually got more of the love that on encounter I'm Maria if you watch this I'm really sorry Maria and Daniel I think your husband's name was I'm sorry that I didn't get to interview you on camera that would've been cool like to talk about some of the things that might have come in and things but uh oh well you know that's that's the however catch he thought it was I was like still pictures of stuff but the we was still rolling when he was yelling at Brad so I don't know how it would come out but I think I got I just kept it rolling and hopefully oh yeah yeah that was kind of sad anyway so that's what happened there sorry Maria so our first stop was a total bus but our next stop bobbing company pawn is independently owned so maybe we'll have more luck filming here you know what that has been here since the last time I was here that and I almost bought it when I was in here last cuz the head stop look at that yeah it's weird and kind of neat it is totally new it's it's like it's it's it's curved it's curved in like it's yeah what am I trying to say concave convex whatever that one pickup is out and this nut is kind of messed up see that's that's it hey what would be your best on this your that's been here for a TR it was Martin 167 but it's been here a long time I'll consider that thank you I was a there's a was it the board had become conducted and it took me forever to figure it out so I ended up making like four videos on the stand thing and I thought I'd had it repaired like three or four different times and it just turned out to be just parts at the end it was just like that's the board it was just the board was conducted [Music] I actually dig this Japanese PB Smith I really do yeah Duff McKagan was based off yeah there's the P base special I like that black painted neck on that I got 85 what I said earlier yeah ladies an old Japanese thing there you love the Suzuki it shows up signature they wouldn't put it on the back right they would have put it on the front but that's exactly how somebody would sign it's like you're where you want on the front of the bat you know if they sign on the back he would have put it flipped it and he would have been sitting down so one day we might try to get that off then Takei didn't that's cool Johnny still listen up Johnny now he died no throw laundry I believe Arnott the top is sinking in on this this is kind of loosen these strings because this has got a it's got a bad brace right there and somebody will be able to fix that I was showing him oh we've got yet got screws ins that look it looks like Johnny Cash concerned [Music] yeah that's an unfortunate repair actually the way that they repaired it and that's an old repair to that could look at the screws of these probably hit a while of them guitars probably got some store - I bet [Music] [Music] sounds fair enough and goes that is kind of messed up is it messed up what's what I do is it cool if we film a little bit and check out some guitars and and he was cool with it it was like just 180 180 degree difference from that other pawn shop that we tried to go to and you know I think the difference was just being able to talk to the guy immediately who was in charge you know and I should have probably asked that question hey are you the owner of the manager you know gonna be back and try it again no no I dunno but yeah this next place we're going to is it's called shark was that last place and that was called Bob's Bob's pawn shop and the place we're going to now is shark and I forget the rest of the name of this place but this huge this next one's really big actually so this should be interesting okay yeah this is sharp Mart a dark dance dance pond to see how much they're asking on that thing [Music] take 20 bucks the only thing of interests are like that telly down there that's a Nashville like I think it's Mexico and then that oddball right there that teal thing what does that say Sebring yeah I believe it goes SB 300 what space were you talking about sound oh yes they didn't used to have this in this configuration used to be it this wasn't here and it was just all up on the walls up there and you just walk in you could you could get stuff and it was huge I don't know what's happened they've redesigned it all I wonder if they've trying to get out of these instruments or something because they've got a lot less than they used to have [Music] based on one of those kb6 are you gonna check it out Mexico that's Mexican yeah so it turned out sharps what does that place call sharp sharp Mart sorry they changed their configuration so that's not as good as it used to be used to you could walk in there and you could just get the instruments off the wall and you didn't have to ask for [ __ ] or any of that they had a bunch more of it and that was usually a pretty good honey hole for some stuff one day I walked in and they had a really nice trainer head in there and they had it for like 150 bucks and I was like oh yeah and I was like I was like that's mine oh yeah oh yeah it was killer it was that was one of those good days this is like you don't know what you have and now I have it so that was a good day but yeah that's you know it's kind of a shame because they the way they change the configuration they don't have quite as much anymore apparently so too bad but I mean you never know what pawn shops though you might walk in there another day and some dude might have come in and you know offloaded a stash of fifties Gibson said you know you just never know what pawn shops but that's the thrill of the hunt man [Music] hey oh you did did he explain what we're doing okay I have a youtube channel we're just doing yeah that's actually a nicely made one cuz usually don't find them with the back on them like that usually yeah they don't put all that much effort into those and those yeah those two tighter bug mandolins too right beside it sometimes you look out on these and you'll get like you'll get one that's like Dyer Brothers made or Larsson brother stickers kind of 50 bucks to 75 on this one that's and it's missing up tuner is trade you better on the brawny thing you think you could perfectly I'll get fixed that nope no it's pretty done and it was I saying Baba's Bayla man Herman Herman stopped thing tapes are tapes are actually making a comeback and you pointed out that one vbx it's $12.50 holy [ __ ] dude I mean it's well-made yet you got anything that would fit in it or strappy fit I wouldn't want to put a strat in it but yeah just to get it out of here hey yeah yeah yeah that this would be like in a commercial polka music store but yeah that's a peddlers mall and what you get big back give back the 15 bucks and voxel first cash pawn yeah see this one isn't doesn't even come up when you say pawn shops power course this actually sound okay but it's not something I'd wanna I wouldn't trust in IDs right yes probably early nineties there's a sick sigma12 string yeah the EVs I saw that it's in good shape yeah it's like that's full retail okay yeah this would be definitely be the find I think in this store what is this a DT DT 3:12 string Sigma was the neck look like yeah that would be a decent little 12-string for somebody alright guys that'll do it for this one I hope
