hey guys welcome back to another episode of guitar of the day i'm your host michael lemmo and today it is flat top friday yes and we have a really cool guitar um but first of all uh we're open next week on tuesday and friday and then we close i think we're close saturday yeah christmas day we're closed and then we open back up uh january 4th on this tuesday uh so we'll be closed through new year's but we'll be right back at it um but uh yeah we got a really cool guitar today let's check it out this one has been worked on by our buddy my i'll say my buddy not everybody your best friend not everybody likes this guy it's got a stench no i'm kidding it was worked on by uh mr joel whitehead but this is a 1956 martin d18 with a new very joel pickguard whoa and i think it's really what what i was gonna say it looks interesting it's so cool something different it's something different and i really like it and most importantly is the sound of this guitar um so you can say what you want about the look but i will say this much if you're playing this and you get famous they're going to be like that's the look that's true that's true that's your signature right there uh which is pretty cool i mean everybody's going to be asking is that original which it's not but still you can explain to them that there was a couple marks under here nothing wrong the woods fine but he decided to cover it with this kind of funky guard it's obviously a big tortoise show guard you got a spruce top here with a couple dings in it this guitar definitely was played um upon arrival um you got mahogany back and sides definitely marks all over the body you got nothing nothing that's really like detrimental um it still sounds amazing there's just a hole back here so there's no uh strap holder but we can we could probably put one in for you if you do get the guitar to be honest i think it sounds so great i kind of wanted the guitar b i'm just saying that no no ways other than other than just it's just a great guitar uh it's a great acoustic guitar um so uh i gotta watch myself you never know also this is an old gibson case um so uh yeah it's not an original martin but we're gonna play it back here it's getting so crazy during holiday season they're partying out front now everybody's working their butts off that's what's actually happening um and a lot of t-shirts are going out yeah we're gonna try to get to you guys by christmas day with those t-shirts but yeah there's a lot of t-shirts and not a lot of us yes there's one gen there's only one me i mean i can't edit and pack at the same time i mean i can if i had you talking about eight eight hands there's an eight-handed gen you're higher [Laughter] [Music] um yeah all right let's check it out so kind of a bigger sound on this guitar [Music] do [Music] [Applause] [Music] do [Music] do [Music] [Music] you [Music] [Music] there you have it really cool guitar from 1956. it's a martin d18 with a wacky pick guard but i love it and a great sounding guitar you can check them all out at normandrakeguitars.com also on instagram and facebook i'm your host michael emma see you soon bye cool cool you
