today we'll be exploring the wonderful world of guide bridge station got some fantastic features to show you and from plenty of clues of what it used to be like in the past once we've been around guide bridge will then have a look at the stabling point this used to be a major stabling point full of electrics and diesels and to finish this section off will nip up the road again and look at a very major stabling point this was called jus snaps and again very close to that there used to be a very big wagon and carriage works to finish the video will nip up the line and have a look again at a major major Junction called godly Junction this used to have a split Junction as it says in the name one group going by the Cheshire lines to Warrington the other route is the Woodhead route so come on guys let's check it out right here we are guide bridge station obviously as you can see this is the disused part of the station beep originally just slow lines that serve the intermediate services as you can see also covered the electrics and that there if you veer off to the left its dilute that used to take you Stockport and obviously straight ahead we wanted to solve service so here we have some of the Victorian architecture look at that it's absolutely amazing very similar to Langston Yorkshire railway even though this station was built by the Sheffield Ashton and Manchester railway company in 1841 amazing achievement now this station has undertaken many names originally it was called Ashton and who leaked Hill that was changed to Ashton in 1842 and it finally got its name of guide bridge in 18 45 as you can see he's been rebuilt and rebuilt and right as you can see here you've got the canopy and we've still got the original wooden bridge so as you can see here we've got four platforms now these buildings have been derelict for a while but hopefully they'll be listed and be looked after so looking straight ahead here you may just be able to see some of the clues that's a walkway that goes over the all the lines now here is a siding it was at the side of the building you look right at the bottom there you'll see a buffer stop this was served by the electrics as you can see there with a gantry over knee and on the side here we've got some of the older outbuildings as it were called like two generations here these were built in the eighteen hundreds now in nineteen um birds this is a 1900 as you can see it's made a red brick Accrington kind of bricks that sir all the mills were made off actually nice Pacha architecture there and these old-style stone buildings very old II will the Victorian style to them you have one of the good sheds I think this was served by good vehicles not railway traffic it's pointing the wrong way the railway is behind it let's see we can have a look inside a nice structure a nice structure but yeah road traffic I'm sure of it there you go some nice wooden beams held up by these metal pillars or such very old ly well but still nice to see standing hopefully someone will preserve these and then make it into some kind of museum again these are very notorious for the Victorian eras same again like very similar to the line from Yorkshire railway style buildings tall brick structures for the chimneys I could say this area is scattered full of all these different buildings outbuildings this looks like some kind of a checkpoint I'm still very railway plenty of clues to identify to the railway infrastructure right as you can see ahead we have the signal box just before the signal box we have another platform now this one for passengers this was for cattle this is the goods platform so the band's used to come up to this edge here the cattle run were unloaded and on the other side you strap the railway tracks we rented used to love them onto the wagons and such a go here you can see a better shut of it if you notice just behind it you have to signal box originally surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of sidings and now it's all on its own all these Jack Jones just look at the canopy you can see where the lines used to go looking up ahead here we can see where the stabling point used to be this is the neck oh here's a sad sight oh this place used to be a mecca for locomotives Mecca stabling point basically at weekends this place was shut down you could go around have a brew it was always heaven luckily on this side we still have the engineering sidings as you can see still in use at least it's not all totally disused yeah so this is a I think this is called Brookside sidings but yeah the abdi track machines and I'll have bits and bobs but still I just say nicer seating use and with that bridge I was telling you about a lattice bridge there she is in her beauty look at that absolutely fantastic well the stabling points is a big main shot here's the actual point as it looks now it looks like a wreck and nature is finally taking its toll I'd normally be showing you everything here but all you can see is trees I'm now literally on top of the fuel depot it's that overgrown you've hours at the base now you'd see nothing but trees as you can see here I'm on top of the fuel tanks so this is looking straight ahead it isn't look like a an old sidings as you say it's still got all the old markings on and there let's have a look yes here's an old look again very very orientated obviously been reused so at least it's not being destroyed like the rest of the infrastructures let's have a look and looking straight ahead this is where the holding sidings will be look at it shows you how much fuel was used here a have a nice overall shot of everything I think that is a avoiding line if you watch over I'd guide bridge coming in from Sheffield you take the curve that was Pat of what we call the guy bridge triangle I went all the way along joining the other line the section down that will take you to Stalybridge this is heading up to all of our new sidings there is that curve dividing line and there again psyched for where the stabling point was not used a lot but still has its general use these are somewhat weird I'm not sure what this is all about what it's like some kind of signal gantry of old oh and it gets weird of still I haven't got a clue what that is just in the middle of the field it's as if it's a barrier of some kind so here we are coming up to the next set of sidings Duke snaps just beyond that bridge is where juice snaps is on the left and here we have the same old story I'm afraid what used to be look at it it's a mess look at them siding so used to be hundreds of sightings here this is the main holding sidings before they went into Manchester if you understand how important it was at the time and yes these were served by electrics as you can see there you got all the country's going over so all the Tommies Rin this sidings as well as far T's forty sevens you name it they were here shame but there you go there's a nice overall shot to give you an idea on what it's all about now over there is some works this used to be the wagon works this is really great central railway carriage and Wagon Works obviously became Yale on ER when he changed hands but yet globe works it was cold so yet he used to make wagons passenger carriages to the lot still plenty of noise coming from it so it looks like it's set it's still got a good use to it but nothing railway related I'm afraid still nice piece of architecture still kept intact you say there were sightings in the top end both ends feeding into guide bridge as you can see look at the counter pick notice how it goes right across here we are back at Gate Bridge poor old signal box at all and it's Jack Jones all these lines was so so busy look at it now it's just a shell of its former self he bag on well just in case you didn't think about walking over the line watch out for them trains here we are up the line here we are at godly Junction I should say it been abandoned it's now closed well it used to be a major major major junction at this point but this is where basically you have the wooded line joined up with the the Cheshire Line the trains would transfer here on here to the Cheshire line by a stop port Warrington and then it lead down to the Liverpool docks note you saw there on the side that's where all the exchanges were taking place look at the canopy as it gives you a clue on how far in used to be how are you were sidings on both sides behind those trees and behind those trees so I just say that is the line that is no more let's see if I can get you a better angle on that used to be some station buildings here but not many clues at the moment oh yeah so dead this is where the platform used to be like to say for the branch line that went to Stockport and you see a better idea on how the Holding sidings used to look now just a mass of metal shame really ah here we have the footbridge I was hoping to get you a nice shot on the top of here but I'm not getting involved in all that vandal paint right let's have a look this is looking towards Manchester now now can you see up on the right-hand side the canopy that gives you an idea on where the cuts lines used to be at the back of the station not sure but there might be a building back there I can see stee outlines of something it looks like the line has been suddenly stopped but er yeah did used to go right at the back of that station avoiding passengers I think you had mg our wagons the lot here it was a very very busy route let's see if I can get over that good side ah yes here we are so here we have the good sidings with the original building wow I didn't think this existed look at it yes still intact and well-maintained I'm not many vandals have been involved in this building yeah obviously this was used for all the exchange sidings whether it be cold weather it be cotton whether it be well whenever they did in them days but certainly a busy location at this time there you go you can see where the original canopy was compared to where it is now it's kind of close up on that building hang in the best of conditions still it looks like it can do someone with it original stone buildings bring you down and in engineering a Wow oh jesus this place is well packed up I was hoping to get inside but no chance so this is where the road traffic used to come into this shed as you can see with a bay and everything so looking out from the shed some offices there but no access at the moment I'm afraid down never mind ah there you go there's some clues from the rail side of things that's on the rail Bay of that corrugated building sort of few of them in six you but the older architecture their blast from the past they may be the AB male trains here I'm used to seeing a plenty of those down at Mayfield and Piccadilly in its time found this in the middle of the yard very strange object looked very Victorian and look at the marks on the side that's been well worn out and whether it be ropes are whatever but certainly used for pulling are straining something maybe some guys can give us a clue let's have a look at some detail shots on this building now as you'd say is very very tightly secured I was hoping to get in side book not a chance in hell I'm afraid I hope it's been secured because it's listed it's listed and hopefully we can make this into some kind of museum or something and look amazing if it was you've got plenty of space and plenty of scope to expand yeah all original stone building lovely here we go no nothing so I've just had a quick look inside I've managed to see inside one of the fences and the roofs still intact so it's still being well preserved so hopefully someone will do something with that in the future there we are Godley Junction good sidings no chance of breaking in that is there look at the side of them blocks that's going nowhere me that's what you look like from the outside come on you preservationist get out there by this land bring it on all right let's link back to the station 8 sorry let's get this quick shot of the the building again and then we'll Nick back to the station let's just say needs a bit of investment but not that much to get it working again here we are back at the station back in the island platform as it were I hope you enjoyed the trip [Music] you
