GROWING AN OLIVE GROVE | Farming Simulator 22 - Haut-Beyleron | Episode 43

hello everybody and welcome back to farmingsmith 22. so it's now march we're into the spring which is great because it means today we're going to be planting olives for the very first time and in case you're wondering about the previous episode when it was snowing no it never did settle so i never got the opportunity to get a snowplow and push a bit of snow around if i had more days per season or per month uh yes would stand a better chance so i'm sure today there's gonna be quite a few eggs to pick up to take over to the cell point and of course more of these to slide over here that is the other thing which i need to do today i'm going to probably sell this one and buy the biggest one that we can possibly get we also have to prune the grapes over there and there's not a huge rush to do the drilling but we do need to do the drilling and the planting as well so let's just take a look and see oh look we've got all this stuff in here that's pretty nice but we do have a nice baler anyway but we'll wrap it at the same time up to we could do 180 centimeters if we're not wrapping 150 if we are so yeah it's nice but we do have to spend the money elsewhere today it's going to be a bit of a an expensive job doing those olives good grief okay so i'm gonna have to drop actually what am i doing no i'm not gonna drop the rule about not stacking what we'll do is in the future we'll just use the flatbed trailer which i've been using for bales and the best thing to do also is to get that shunting tract which i mentioned but it doesn't want to be too slow 24 miles per hour or maybe it's just worth doing in several loads with the pickup truck well the most important thing is that the full crates are out of the trigger then they can keep creating eggs forever uh the chickens may require some more food but i don't think they're desperate at the moment so we must focus on today's job and that's our brand new john deere which is going to be used for the planting but as i said we need to look on here and see when we can plant up until it looks like some crops are april and summer may obviously summer march but we don't need to worry too much about those so today is not going to be a mad rush to get the crops actually in the ground we're going to focus on olives grapes and we may well do a field because i do want to use the john deere we'll probably plant that field there so first things first let's head off with this because that is actually in the direction of the the olive field so there we go check the price for eggs hopefully it's good i haven't sold eggs for a while uh could be better but yeah since we're not selling them all we can uh get away with it yeah i got the john deere in the previous episode which you probably already aware of i'm not sure how many people watch every single episode that i do uh thank you to those people who do watch every single episode but yeah uh if you didn't watch it we got it in a sale it was a bit of an impulse buy i wasn't going to buy it but it was too good to refuse we will be selling it eventually to replace it with a massive ferguson but for now for this year at least we are going to be using the john deere for planting and anything which requires higher horsepower got over 300 horsepower so it's a decent tractor i am also aiming to get the vineyard tractor today the fence we do have landini but ideally we need to keep a tractor over here thankfully we don't have to worry about theft in fs but we can just leave a tractor in a field and it will be there when we come back unless have experienced some kind of weird glitch unless there are virtual thieves hopefully not so get a bit of money in from these gives us a boost looking good very good forty three thousand four hundred and forty eight so that will almost cover the fentanyl i think the factor is about seventy thousand so well it's it's a good step in the right direction anyway there is our field our lovely phone number 12. i do like this field a great deal it's a pretty field because we have the trees at the top as well and uh yeah we need to get into the construction page so that we can start planting the olive groves we're gonna put them in at the top and then we're gonna keep bringing them down here but i'm not too sure at the stage where we're going to go up to we'll have to find out the cost is going to obviously be the deciding factor we shall start right at the top leaving enough space to turn around without going completely on the road so yeah we need to go into production orchards and they are more expensive than the grapevines which is saying something so probably about there went to 12 000 with the grapes but then we do have a great deal of space before we even reach the cultivated part so it looks like it's going to be 16. we will do it to there and i want to keep it as square as possible we don't want to have a really wonky olive grove there we go so again we need to be at ideally exactly the same place so somewhere here is that as close as we can get them see if i can go closer nope nope if you go too close it's just gonna join on from the previous yes that is as close as we can go i think but at least it helps us out and keeps it straight we don't have to worry too much about it being wiggly it will be a fairly even distance from the previous okay that's good that's very good but the money is going down but this is gonna look impressive about there i think yep as long as they have even spaces between them doesn't really matter about anything else just they just have to look symmetrical okay and we'll be on we've got a hundred and seventy four thousand pounds left we need seventy thousand or seventy seven thousand for the fence tractor luckily all the other machines except for the harvester are the same as for the grape vines so we don't worry too much about that okay i'm gonna keep going until i feel with the sensible place to stop [Music] okay so i think that is about right and yeah as it says here olive groves are planted in rows and need to be cultivated fertilized and mulch to gain the full yield so exactly the same as the grapes whoops let's take a look in person oh yes this is going to be interesting and yeah i think they're quite a bit taller than the grapes the grape vines so i'm guessing the harvester is a bit taller as well i'm not too sure exactly in fact we can obviously see it without buying it olive technology looks quite different at the front the rest of the machine looks very similar yeah a very big opening it's a big mouth it's like a fish and then we can store the olives in here yep so very similar but not similar enough we still have to have a separate machine 10.1 tons that ways this one's only 8.6 yeah it is a much bigger machine so yeah they can now be left to grow but they do well i say they do do they actually need to have any work this year as they're new they might be pre-fertilized hmm peppering of fertilizer well obviously they've got something because it was grass they've benefited from that but yeah interesting really is very inconsistent it looks like yes it would be worth failing soon and cultivating and yes we'll try and spray them i guess we might as well spray them but now we need to have a suitable tractor over here so as i said small tractors could go for this it is a great price difference it would make sense to get another landani but it's not really experiencing everything properly so we are going to have to go for this 79 horsepower how much is the landini 70. so even the base model is more up to 112 we can go but power's not been an issue at all 114 we can go up to there so yeah i don't know why it's so much more expensive but it is so it's just the way it is 207 should be powerful enough i can't see why it wouldn't be different wheels as you can see this one here is designed for the vineyards and orchards so we should probably stick with it we'll go for the wider rear wheels though because it looks better i think it's a very narrow tall machine i'd love to get it in the sale but obviously we can't do so that's going to live as mentioned somewhere near to the vine this is the groves but i'm guessing it would make sense to keep them at the processing factory because it's just up the road how do i know the perfect yes let's get this into there back into customizing just call it olives or olive let's see uh probably gonna be a bit too many characters there who call it oliver top gear uh no we'll call it how could you call it olive actually can you have no no i guess you could put dashes but it's not very fun looking there we go just there we go olive that's the name so i think we have to click customize it's free so that's good and we have our tractor called olive we could name all of our tractors or is that taking it a bit too far i'm not too sure so what we're going to need is the flail and the cultivator in the near future but we do also need both of those soon over at the vineyard as well but we're not going to buy double we'll just have to put them onto the trailer to transport them in the future so i could possibly cultivate now i'm sure it will let me if we prune and cultivate the uh the vineyard then we could take the cultivator then over to the olive grove there's not really any grass to mulch so hmm just not really the time here yet to do everything that's the issue probably could get away with spraying anyway i want to put these side by side yeah our two vineyard tractors there we go so yes what we need to do is put this onto the cultivator yeah i think we'll take the cultivator and the sprayer with the fence this is probably a bit of oh maybe we can cultivate and prune that's a good idea two in one let's get on the front we don't have to prune the olives so they're probably less labor intensive but they were more expensive to plant so yeah it's always a reason okay here we go as i said might be the wrong time to convert let's just see if it works it does work and it makes you really question why you'd want to have a higher horsepower version since it can do both these jobs at the same time without any problems at all well i'm very impressed i think this is good very good so i'll crack on i'll get this done then as i said we'll put the cultivator on the fence and we'll put the sprayer on the fence as well [Music] [Music] yeah it works well really good and as you can see the trees are growing which i planted on the roadside i'm not too sure if we're ever going to cut those down they're not going to interfere with this vineyard i'm sure they won't they might cast a little bit of shade but there's a good gap between the closest fine in the tree so yes i have one more to cultivate up and one more to prune so i cultivate on the way back down that's the pruning done for another year i know it feels like more often a bit like i said eventually we're going to have more days per month but i don't know when that eventually is going to be but because now my money has gone into the olives it means the next thing which a substantial amount money is going to go into is land so now we can just start growing the farm and then we can expand the machinery again so get a bigger combine but yeah more land is the next step oh not forgetting of course the olive harvester we have to get the olive harvester in sale so if it hasn't come up before harvest time we'll just have to rent it but i'd really prefer not to actually how much olives worth i check after i've planted it but i would have done it anyway just because it's a new crop type olives ah we can make olive oil pretty good actually look at that 1875 not well look at that really good grapes do seem quite high but then how much is olive oil if we were to get the olive factory yeah i thought as much quite a bit more and if we had the olive factor well the oil factory it must be able to do sunflower oil and canola oil as well so we could really take advantage of it fairly neat so we can leave that to grow we'll probably flail this at some point but yeah next big thing will be fertilizing spraying it i shall take off the cultivator and we can put this back in here keep the pruner attached so i have the cultivator and sprayer on olive i'm not sure if i should call this one grape uh i don't know should we call this one great but yeah olive makes perfect sense for this tractor looking good probably should put a beacon on and it seems quite impressive that a tractor of this size can do 26 miles per hour i like that oh it's all the screen everything's screen no dials it's all digital buttons and screens let's see what this tractor can do first things first spraying we might as well loosen the soil after we've driven over it so take that off of there and it shouldn't consume too much and yes we will have to do the flailing as well but not now when the grass actually grows this seems probably a bit tighter than the vignette unless it's more bushy this feels right this feels good the grapevines do feel ever so slightly too far apart but not to be an issue yeah this is good so i will check and see what kind of an impact that has made see if it was actually worth doing good tractor very good uh yeah so you can see just there in particular that it did have to be done and yeah i'm gonna have to drive on the road i don't see it being a big issue looking good so because we do have the trees here i think when we come to expand the olives we're going to actually just go straight down off these ones keep going from this road to the bottom road and then maybe leave all that area there for another field so i'll probably cultivate up the grass we can put another crop in there but for this year these are all the olives we're going to have so we can put a crop in this lower part i said before not too sure what crop is going to be but i will think of something probably i think we are going to really take advantage of the planter this year since we have the john deere and we have several different crops to choose from that the plants can put in the sugar wheat turned out to be a great success so uh well i guess we could do sugar beet again or we could do sunflowers i think about some flowers though really i think we'd have to have the factory cause i don't think sunflowers are really worth it yield wise but we'll see we've even got cotton but it's not really the right environment not the right climate i don't think although maybe maybe it's all right here but again the renting of the machine might be problematic it's gonna be expensive [Music] another screen many screens uh yes so this is the final run um yes i have decided that we might actually do a huge maze silage uh session this year on the farm so we could do every single field of sage but as amazed i should say but it's going to be um important that we get the biggest harvester because last time it did drag on quite a bit so we can take advantage of getting a big trailer big harvester get it all into our pits hopefully it will fizz and then yes make an absolute fortune the other benefit this year is we do have the jcb so we can load up the trailer without having to rent anything did take a very long time but there wouldn't necessarily be a rush about it anyway let's hope that it's a great big block of blue on the fertilizer map yeah although there are still a few missed pieces which is amazing because i went up and down every single one but yeah clearly the majority has been covered so that is perfect so nice to see olives it'd be nice where we can see the actual olives growing on the plant okay so i'm just wondering maybe we can put the flail and the cultivation at the same time it would make sense to do the two together but i don't know if the flare which is designed for this is actually a front-mounted flail i didn't think it was but then i could be wrong or it might just work anyway i think i would be tempted just to put it on the front and say where is it i've lost it i've lost my flail here it is it was hiding you naughty flail uh right so yeah is it a front mounted flail as well yes it is as i said i'm not too sure if it's supposed to be but it does work that's the most important thing so what we can do is we can put the flail in the trailer and take some more eggs up there for when we're ready but at the moment there's no grass to cut so we'll just leave it for now but i'm just as happy with the vent tractor as i am with the landini so they're both great seems to work fine nice so yes we will we'll get into the john deere we can start putting some corn in just gonna do the one field today my trailer is uh somewhere i need to try and find it and then put it in still here at the field so actually good if i can put the sprayer in the back take the sprayer to the farm let's see if this is possible it might be a bit heavy or too big but we shall see if i put the tailgate down right we wanted the ramp on the trailer try again i'm going to look around onto mod sites and see if i can find a really small shed just to fit this tractor in and maybe one implement i think this field would benefit from a very small shed just so the tractor isn't left outside okay bear with me i'm just gonna have to try and maneuver seems a bit big but might be possible i think it is possible okay as long as it's not in the way of the uh ramp there we go seems okay yep does him okay just go a bit further forward turn the tractor's engine off nice tractor and we'll see if we can take it back without any problems uh we should also build a strap yep that's locked it down so it's now part of the trailer very good this is the way we're going to do this because it's such compact machinery we can just use the pickup truck to transport things quickly no problem at all that's great and here we are safely back at the farm ah that couldn't have worked any better really happy about that so what i'll do now is i'll tip the trailer put the ramp down take the straps off otherwise i'm gonna have a bit of an issue uh and then get my landing tractor tow the sprayer off and put the flail onto the trailer then we can lower the trailer and put some eggs in it's gonna be such a great system okay spin round because now this sprayer can be used here it will be used here put the flail in shouldn't have any issues with that except my flair is still switched on which is kind of lethal there we go what a perfect fit that is just fantastic until you jack knife the sprayer but yeah that really could not have been any better at all there we go so yeah i certainly stick with the idea of having two tractors i think it's necessary but we only need one of each implement which is going to save so much money if we can move over here and we can start to put egg pallets in and then not only the hats but because the sell point for the eggs is right opposite we can make some money every time we go to the olive field probably should strap that in there we go and we've got another one over here still got a glitch pallet there which is costing me money because we're not making any money somehow i need to dig it out but i couldn't find a way of doing it i did use the landscaping tool before but just here it's too close to the fence so won't let me do it anyway there we go brilliant perfect everything is great so into the john deere tractor get it started up for the first time since we brought it back and we can attach the planter but it probably needs seed and possibly fertilizer oh no no we're all right so con there we go we've got con selected we need to go over here and then attach to the side of it yeah the tractor's still worn out but i know most of the planters want it but it doesn't really seem to make a difference so i i yeah i don't know maybe the speed that we work out i really don't know we will get it fixed but not now later i've got my john deere weight on so with 60 seed we will have to fill up i don't know if we'll have to fill up with oh look at that really does that must be april then because yeah corn is a bit later uh let's just take a look here yeah march is a bit too early yep april may but if i'm doing corn in every single field we could move on i wasn't going to it's going to mean we do have to do a few other jobs first like water and a bale they've got water they've almost run out of food oh crikey my palates are fighting uh yes i'm actually talking about honey pallets that needs to be done oh yeah the glitched one uh let's see here is it worth selling 5 000 pounds how much did we pay for it animals bees 12 500 okay so maybe it's worth just adding to it then and we don't have any money to deal with so we'll leave that for now until we've sold some more eggs let's just get a hay bale for the sheep need to keep them going and do the chickens have enough food probably not so i'll do that as well [Music] right then so the chickens have got all the food they need the sheep will have all the hay in need to last quite some time i would try once more to try and get this stuck honey palette off or out it's stuck in the ground it has been rages and it's kind of annoying same with the egg palette but i think the eggplant is completely stuck this one might come out if i can just get underneath it to lever it come on that's saying something a vengeance should just pop and it will actually come out i've done it before you've just got to get underneath it enough okay well i might have to just do this off camera another day yeah okay uh so yes water is the only of the concern but i think it might be okay yeah it's not good enough park this over here and then we can get into the lorry i just saw olive to do this put a bit more water in there providing it leaves us some yep good okay so as long as they've got a good trough everything will be fine as i said i wasn't going to move on to april quite as quickly but since yeah i've pretty much decided now that we're going to do corn in every field we might as well oh okay they didn't need much let's go and rest and no i have not found any collectibles for several days now i think we're probably collecting a few too many uh we were probably taking advantage of bits which was really not what i wanted to do i don't want to take advantage of them because it is 50 000 pounds every time so in a few episodes time we might return and get a few more but for now i'm quite happy with the progress and the money that we have okay right let's see if we have any more used machines we kind of do but nothing which we need so that's fine let's now get into the john deere and we'll do this one field more eggs grape vines are looking good oh and they're ready to be flailed so we can do that we'll do the um the olives first then when it comes back here we can do here there's no rush and yeah that should all be working fine as i said though we're going to consume the seed pretty quickly i doubt we'll get through all the fertilizer but we might do the possibility is there looking good oh look at my forest wow so that forest is a year and a half old and they'll put in as very small saplings but it looks like we do we have some growth from those ones that weren't growing i guess that they were willow i don't know for sure the reason why i said it was weird is because they might oh look they still haven't grown it's weird because willow grows really fast there it is going through my weight so there must be something wrong with those but look we've got some deer in here this is dense it's a real shame maybe one day they will grow but it's been enough time for these to grow like this i have transformed the landscape and i've attracted wildlife right i will see you in a minute when this is all done we might have to get a bit more seed [Music] we'll have to see [Music] but by the end of it we'll have a lovely corn field [Music] need a bit of a top up so we've got seed on the front and fertilizer on the back which is fine uh we should be able to do all actually without even getting out of the cab so seed into there they seem to lift up and then fertilizer if i boom out enough will go into here okay i think i'll just open it up myself brilliant we're full so in the future if we need any more we know where to come and you've probably noticed it's a bit laggier now seems to be only when i look in one direction though don't if it's the trees it was a bit laggy in that direction before i got the trees over there although yeah now it's kind of laggy looking in this direction as well so no idea anyway let's get things finished off your notes have left a bit of a gap between the fence and the crop last time i had the crop pretty much growing in the fence which didn't really work out too well and we're off more corn going in yeah this will definitely be enough for the rest of the field we don't really have much more to do the john deere is performing very well no issues at all no complaints that's for sure a bit of first-person view one thing i can definitely say about john deere is it's very clean looking there's nothing that makes the controls look really cluttered or you know just hard to operate it just looks so clean that is the best description for it i'm happy with it but like i said if we do get a good deal come up for a big massive ferguson we will go for it [Music] yes apart from some framework issues having the forest if that's even what's causing it looks so nice and it will probably look even better when we have a fully grown crop of corn although if we're going to be doing it with the forager which i think we are we can probably harvest it one stage before it is totally ripe so when it's still green we won't have to wait quite as long for it to be ready either so there we go we're done so there's no need to fold it up or anything because the next field is going to be called as well common mr unadventurous but it's going to be more effective much more cost effective since we're going to be renting such an expensive harvester the more fields we do the better the less it'll be per field so yeah we're ready to go next time probably a worker though for this particular field and there we go so i really hope you've enjoyed this video made some pros we've got some olives new
