what's up everybody figured i jump on the youtube bandwagon i'm gonna cook some wings up today i got this new uh little accessory for my weber kettle it's at the vortex i'm gonna use it for the first time today kind of review it while i cook them but uh yeah just uh crack you open the beer enjoy the show all right so the first thing we're going to do is fill the vortex up with this cowboy hardwood briquettes fill it up we'll just let that burn till they get glow and red and then we'll be ready to cook some wings so it takes a good 20 minutes for this charcoal to burn down to where we want it so while we wait i think i'll grab me beer number two i gotta stick with trusty pbr so while i set these wings on here i'm going to explain to you a little bit of what this vortex does it's hot the heat comes up from the center it's like 500 degrees hits the lid comes back down onto the wings gives it that crispy skin that you're looking for when you're cooking wings and uh so what i'm doing is putting them around in a circle you don't put them directly over your clothes just kind of round them out let me get these on here and i'll show you what it looks like when we're done all right so the wings are on i'm just gonna a lot of people season them before they put them on but i'm just going to sprinkle some of my rub over the top just kind of give them a nice even coat try not to burn my denim arm hairs off that gets hot just kind of brush them out what i'm adding to them is this killer hogs barbecue rub awesome stuff goes good on anything chicken pork beef but today obviously we're using it on chicken since i got them seasoned up really good we're just going to close this lid we'll come check on them in about 30 minutes and in the meantime it's gonna drink more beer all right so we're about 30 minutes in we're going to check on them see what they're looking like i'm going to use this little cloth to grab this handle because as you can see that dowel is wrapping around so it's well over 550. so we're going to check on these and see what they're looking like oh yeah getting a good crisp it's just what we want be careful if you get one of these things and don't move your hand directly over the top of it because it will send your damn arm hairs off but yeah they're looking good so i think we're going to leave them on here for a little bit longer we'll come back in maybe 20 minutes or so see what we're working with all right so we're going to give these one more look before we get ready to take them off look at that tell you what youtube needs smell of vision because you guys are missing out smells and looks delicious i can't freaking wait to eat every one of these i'm just kidding i gotta share unfortunately yeah they look good check them out good crispy skin so let's get these babies off of here and i'll see you in a few all right boys and girls we done so these took about 40 minutes to cook skin's good and crispy they'll get you a good shot right here so you can get a good it's kind of getting dark out here but the skin's crispy just what we wanted um i'll bite into one of these and see how good they are you know i usually don't toot my own horn but these things are delicious you know this vortex that i'm using i didn't know how well it was gonna work i've watched a bunch of videos on it what i like the most about it is i put two rings and the outer ring of the wings cooked just as even as one closest to the coals didn't have to flip them i didn't have to move them around left them where i put them when i first started and that was it just left them on there let them cook and you know like i said good crispy skin uh you know they're not dried out just uh be sure when you're cooking chicken make sure you're at least at the internal temperature of 165 before you take them off that's like the safe tent for chicken i cook these a little more um i think these are like 1 70 175 they're perfect but yeah i hope you like the video and uh i'm gonna go crack me up in a few more beers after i finish this one and watch clemson beat up on virginia tonight cheers you
