however i'm not the only face you'll be seeing here tonight apart from the awesome ministers who will be here i am going to be co-hosting this with an awesome gentleman who is a child of god a minister of the gospel an entrepreneur and the ceo of a clothing line ladies and gentlemen please make welcome my co-host praise in this age peter oh thank you so much bella i i almost didn't think you were talking about it's such an honor to know that you think about me that way ladies and gentlemen my name is pisa like she said and it is such an amazing privilege to be here with you this evening yes i'm going to also introduce my friend my sister and my co-host belarus okojie who wears many hearts she is a broadcaster a tech editor an actor a voice over actor and so much more i can't on this earth today we're going to listen to and watch great music from gifted artists and wonderful musicians and it's an opportunity for us to sing to dance and adore the lord in addition to that it's also an opportunity for us to listen to amazing stories from people who are caring for indigent children children with special needs and orphans across nigeria it's an opportunity for us to worship for a change right to make a difference in the lives of these children today this concert seeks to benefit the farid center leprosy mission nigeria godswing orphanage and the ready foundation these are charities that are doing amazing work an amazing work in the lives of special children and i'm actually hoping that today we'll be able to raise like a hundred million naira i hope i can hear a loud amen where you are and i think that that is actually a good opportunity for us to actually pray concerning today's events and so father we just commit these events into your hands we just ask of god that your breath lord will be upon it will be upon the music will be upon the band will be upon the equipment will be upon all of us who are watching it we ask of god that lord will be the task of providing special care for our labs when we give birth to a child with a liberal policy his name is mohammed farid we give back to him in 2001. we had to make a hard conscious decision an effort providing him with the special care and attention required and this came almost naturally and effortlessly we are opportune to be eased into it gradually by those we met during the journey of seeking help and intervention for him therefore the realization of the unique challenges associated with caring for a child with special needs informed the establishment of the farid foundation so after much consultations with expect advice from elite professor ibrahim colon the ferry center for people with special needs opened its doors for six months counseling families those that have children with special needs and this was presided over by dr uachiku as a chair at kingsley the ferry center was initially designed to cater for friends of fairy to give known families with children in similar situations as furry the much needed awareness and early intervention well in a society where there is so much misconception about what special needs it truly is sensitizing and disabusing people's minds and de-stigmatizing such meats can be a bit of a daunting task but i find passion in this [Music] it's like a drive in me the experiences that i've had along the line over the years has shaped me and i make people to understand that to achieve a modicum of independence that feeling that they have that the unachievable is possible so it's an innate drive within to be able to make that make sure that these children get that special care the joy on their faces when they come to the ferry center the spirit with which they want to give you what you ask them to give them give to give you makes it worthwhile at the end of the day so after all when you think about it no one is an island we all have to help one of one another to push forward to strive to be able to survive oh yes difficulties but i don't see them as difficulties as such i see them as being challenges accepting what was happening to farid was hard enough without having the society look at him and people similar to farid as being hopeless cases or a waste of funds the society will wish them away some will even wish them debt but be that as is me we've carried on and we've engaged a lot of people experts who will help us with the therapy that is needed for these children to blossom for these students be able to get to that developmental goal that is being set for them weekly monthly yearly and then that teacher at harry primary school in goji kualiel city today we thank god today mark the beginning of tlm and green worship school projects this program will have our purpose we have the parents and we have the school because as you see this community most of their parents are going for begging to get what they eat what they provide for the puppies for their school so it to reduce the burden of especially providing uniform for the children sanders books and what are views most of these pupils are coming to school without their footage without standards some are coming with mufti without uniform [Applause] yes we are here today this morning at the yangoji leprosy village specifically at the alhari primary school this school is a school meant for the children of people affected by leprosy and we have been supporting this school over the past couple of years for a couple of years back now we've not been able to get funding support for these children and we are glad when pastor walia denugga and the green warship team shortlisted the leprosy mission nigeria as one of the organizations that is to receive support for the year 2020 we are excited that we got the sum of 1 million 250 000 from the green warship team and we have allocated this money to support 200 children here in the alhari school very inspired i'm very very happy because as you can see the kids are very happy they got uniforms sanders bags books in fact the aspect of learning they have everything and they are very happy and they promise us that there will be more serious now as they got those materials we're very frank i am short of voice i don't know which word to use in appreciating this effort i think this wouldn't have come in a better time than this first of all thank the leprosy mission nigeria and green worship we thank them more sincerely we want to use the opportunity to thank the green warship for this wonderful support that you have actually made available the children are excited the school teachers their parents everybody is happy for this wonderful support i will just want to say thank you and god bless you for helping to address the need of these children we are materials help to orphanages and houses that need help i want you to join me to support them so that they can make a difference in the lives of these children there is no amount that is too small no listen to their prayer to the vulnerable members of our society who should be protected from the walls and foes to these examples of dependence the kind that is required by god of us do not hinder them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these to the child with special needs willing the father of the fatherless to carry him on his shoulders taking him farther than his feet could possibly take him let us be reminders of god's power let us be witnesses of his love to the diamonds in the rough to sparklers of joy and greatness that the world is missing out on let us be reminders those who should be sheltered and covered not powered let us be god's harms his psalms his proverbs his warmth affection and revelation two those who should be shaping our world that we keep bending with the vine to achieve something so divine and i don't know about you but the sight and thought of neglected children breaks and grieves my heart so much so it compels a helping hand let us be [Music] oh foreign foreign foreign oh is [Music] oh [Music] [Music] my name is crystal chibu and i am the founder of the ready foundation eradi foundation started from the place of my pain because i gave birth to a daughter with a congenital lymph deformity and at six days old we were told that the limb had to be amputated i was shattered i was devastated and unsure about what the future had for me basically what happened was it took me two years and three months alongside my husband to be able to decide if we were going to amputate the leg our daughter had at the time it was really really devastating eventually after two years and three months we actually went ahead with the amputation of the limb the amputation was done and after the amputation was done we decided eventually to get high aesthetically for us it was like a new lease of life because then we could go about our daily activities we could do the things that we wanted to do with ourselves after we got hyperstatic claim i realized a lot of other children were going through the same thing my daughter was going through but they couldn't afford to get themselves prosthetic limbs because their parents at that time uh could not afford it and pretty much i started thinking and asking myself what if i'm able to help just one child to get a prosthetic link and not only get a prosthetic limb which is an artificial lip but also help that child go back to school and pretty much that's how the story of the radio foundation started because we started just to be able to help one child go back to school by providing that child with prosthetic legs one of the things that is the most fulfilling when you think about giving a child prosthetic limb is just even child stand up and walk kind of puts that light bulb in your eye you literally uh just see the laughter the smiles on the faces of people it is so satisfying to see that you can help just one person fulfill their dreams going back to school but pretty much it goes beyond just that child it's their family my colleagues and i every day we see these children going back to living life normally gives us a lot of joy this journey has not come without his own challenges a lot of times when we consider and ask ourselves are we on the right part one of the most challenging times for us is when we have some of the children we have worked with [Music] die because what probably led to the amputation is cancer and we've lost about three children to cancer and that is very painful for us and sometimes really when you think of not being able to provide a limb for somebody that needs a limb or you know the questions with which getting that limb for them will go a long way to change their lives and the lives of their family that in turn really makes us happy but really what keeps me going at every point and i think also my colleagues is the fact that we know we have a problem we've seen ourselves do this before and the children that you know have succeeded from this have a lot of joy and they're living their lives to the fullest so that's the joy that we have the joy that we know that their lives are changed keeps us going so pretty much it's one child at the time it's not a thousand children it's not five hundred thousand children even though we know we're going to get there something but it's the fact that we know that that's just life that one life that we have touched will be transformed that's one of the best things and that's what keeps us going every day hi there my name is adenike for 15 years and counting i have lived with disability in nigeria so when i tell you that i know what it is to live with this ability or special needs as the case may be i know what that means every orphaned and vulnerable child in nigeria came and many people thought i was mad because that was when people were expecting money the the money coming into the the workforce and i was opting out and so so many things were said about me and that when i focused on what i saw god never put me to shame and the glory be to jesus today god's will orphanage that i got from god himself came up fully with children that you are seeing today and they the joy i have is when these children are brought they would they grow into full children that will go to school that will go to higher institution today and the other challenge is that as these children are growing there is the need for them to grow physically spiritually mentally and then educationally they need to go to school so we have a school and teachers are not easy to come by because there's no financial backup as such with the trend of events that these are so costly these days teachers want us to increase their salaries which sometimes we may not be able to and they leave the school and so we are barely having challenges of teachers enough teachers that will go around this the class and health wise the children are expected to go to hospital for treatment the it's not all the doctors that will understand with us we're going to stay in the hospital for two days it's a lot of money this day these days and also when we come to their educational uh needs some of them need school fees bags shoes uh they need also writing materials which are really high now we are happy that you have come into our lives to change situations by this little exposure i've given
