[Music] well good morning lion hearts at your old pal tour in the lion how are you all doing today i hope you said well i'm doing well i got to thinking you know this december i decided to go back to doing a daily vlog and so many people really really responded well to it a big part of that was that i love to vlog i love to bring entertainment to people that maybe can't go travel on their own and if you remember i did three videos in a row with todd fisher and katherine hickland about debbie reynolds their life carrie fisher and a lot of people commented telling me that that was like a christmas gift to them i you know sometimes i forget when i'm doing this how special some things really are to other people that can't get out and do them so today since todd was so great at telling us some of the stories about what happened when carrie and debbie passed i wanted to go out and illustrate them so today i'm going to take us out and walk us through exactly what he talked about and kind of fill you in on what happened how carrie passed how debbie passed and how of course todd told us how he picked where they're buried and we'll go out and take a look at it because when i vlogged this once before they had just been buried and their names weren't on their tomb yet their their statue that's there so we'll go out and we'll talk about what possibly could go there and just pay homage to debbie reynolds and carrie fisher who passed away around christmas time a couple of years ago and just kind of got me thinking we should go out and pay our respects to them so today days with jordan the lion it begins right now we're heading out to forest lawn hollywood hills cemetery let's go and of course since they were both animal lovers they're gonna have a part of you at the end of the vlog we'll feature you too handsome devil good morning jaw and when debbie and carrie passed away an artist named rick the chance drew this image and it really really hit a chord with todd and catherine and they worked with rick to use this image made these pins for both of their funerals and we're going to wear it today as we go out to their gravesite here it is up here on the left where these fountains are all right we've made it here and today's special patreon sunglass vlog is for winkle and you know i thought since todd fisher was kind enough to let us into his home and debbie's home to share carrying debbie's mementos i wanted to bring some flowers for his girls he wrote a book called my girls and uh these are for them so let's head on in i'll show you his path that he took to select where they are buried so this is the section that he chose and he told us the story of walking through here and he said first off he noticed betty davis over here which his mother was good friends with because the movie that she made with um betty and ernest borgnine the catered affair so he said i saw betty and i thought well that's pretty cool betty and my mom were good friends so here's betty we've done a whole vlog on her career before and betty was kind of known for being one of those people either she loved you she didn't and she definitely liked debbie so he said then he continued on and we will now todd said even though this was a sad event that happened them passing so close together debbie and kerry he said it was horrible yet beautiful truly magical is how he described it so we'll continue on up here and he said and then i saw my mom's other friend liberace it's very interesting if you watch this little two-minute clip online of a little documentary of liberace at his house in vegas they show the marquee of him performing at the hilton with debbie opening for him so he said i saw liberace which was also one of mom's friends and also liberace's buried with his mother then he continued on through here ronnie james dio is buried right over there i don't think that that had any bearing on why they're buried here though i'm kidding just having some fun you know [Music] and carrie and debbie are over here where this person is at right now so as todd said once he got out here he said he saw this statue of a mother and daughter together and he said then all of a sudden he was completely swarmed by hummingbirds and he said his mother and carrie both had a thing for hummingbirds so he said he knew right then he had to get this for the family plot and he even told me that that design that's on the pin that we're wearing he said that was what he was thinking of replacing this statue with having a vision of debbie and carrie walking away together debbie is herself from singing in the rain and carrie from star wars look at that so festive look at that man that's beautiful so what happened todd said basically was that carrie was in london promoting her book and that she was in really great health actually better than she'd been in a long long time and he said even talk to her right before she got on her plane ride to come back celebrate christmas he said she loved christmas loved to give and in fact would go all out for christmas so he said she was looking forward to coming back she was 15 minutes away from landing on the plane and suffered a heart attack and became unresponsive so he got a call from his mother and met at the hospital carrie was in the intensive care unit for quite a while and he said that during that time the doctors had even said it's you know it's a high risk thing we we can't be sure what will happen and he even said his mother was very close to god and would um would often talk to god and said that she felt that carrie had already left and um so he said even though my mom was very distraught she would have these moments where she was almost already accepting it and so when carrie finally passed he said that his mother said that i need to be with carrie and he said if there was ever a way to will someone's death my mother did it he said within 15 minutes she had fallen asleep had a stroke and 30 minutes later she was officially dead he said she wanted to be with carrie and he said there was some part of him that even though it was very sad he thought you know carrie's already kind of been up there with god for a little while maybe god's saying debbie i need your help now they had a very interesting relationship because if you know debbie never really even intended on being an actress she was born mary frances reynolds she competed in a miss burbank contest and then found herself getting a screen test with mgm and getting a contract and her first major starring role was with mgm in the um singing in the rain movie with donald o'connor and gene kelly she wasn't even a dancer at that time so she had a difficult time because gene kelly didn't want to work with a novice and wasn't really willing to help her so i had read that fred astaire used to help her out kind of help her with the dance moves and everything but she became so famous and then fell in love with eddie fisher while she was making a picture she was even pregnant with carrie a movie she was making with eddie had carrie and then two years later had todd and they were good friends with elizabeth taylor and her husband mike todd mike todd died tragically in a plane crash and when eddie was consoling elizabeth they fell in love and eddie ended up leaving debbie very publicly for elizabeth taylor and so todd carrie and debbie would almost become the three musketeers and todd would even say because i said did you know did carrie like being an actress did she like being known as princess leia and he said you know at first she didn't because she was in she almost felt like she had to be in competition with her mother and if you read one of carrie's books or see the movie that was made from it postcards from the edge with meryl streep and shirley mclean that's basically what the movie is about is carrie writing about this semi-autobiographical story of like her having drug problems and trying to clean up and her mother she has to live with her mother um as a chaperone in order to do this movie that she's doing and that she realizes that her mother just without ever trying is always overshadowing her and everything that she does so that was one of those stigmas that you could tell carrie felt like she had to deal with in part of her life and then just became accepting that she was her own actress and if you ever see interviews with carrie they're really funny because she's very humorous almost every line is said in a joking manner and she's very self-deprecating but not in like a um making you feel bad for her she makes light of some of her mistakes and even todd said that was one of the things he loved most about her was that you know she had a mental illness and she was open about it and she gave other people the courage to come out and you know live with that illness without being ashamed so you'll see here that right after christmas december 27th carrie passed away and todd said it wasn't you know he said we had all said everything before so there was nothing left unsaid and then of course right after debbie as todd said willed herself to pass and then you know just a beautiful beautiful thing where he said now they're together forever always debbie got what she wanted which is to be with carrie and he said even though you know there was a that time in carrie's life where she might have felt like she had to be competitive or live up to debbie they never really had that later on they really took care of each other carrie always took care of debbie and debbie always took care of carrie and all three todd carrie and debbie they were just always a true family true loving family with a great sense of humor and it's nice to know that todd had that moment here where he said that not only will he and catherine also be buried here but debbie's dog dwight will be buried here and debbie had always said to todd i don't want to attend my daughter's funeral and she didn't have to one of the things that i loved about meeting todd fisher was that he really made it clear that his family like his mother when she became an actress she took it very seriously and that became her whole life and she always gave back to the fans always treated the fans very respectfully and same with carrie carrie you know being princess leia became very famous for that character and would meet a lot of fans and ended up embracing it todd does the same thing he's very open to the fans of both his mother and sister and he goes out of his way to keep their legacy living on telling stories about them sharing their mementos keeping their mementos so that they're safe that's really like one of the greatest legacies that debbie and carrie both have is knowing that everything that they did that their son brother is keeping things going on and that fans will always get to appreciate their wonderful art and i said that um in the movie postcards from the edge meryl streep and shirley maclaine are the stars of that and that was based off of carrie's life meryl streep of course plays carrie and shirley mclean plays debbie it's kind of funny because ironically shirley maclaine was who they wanted to be unsinkable molly brown and because of a contract dispute she didn't get it but debbie wanted it so bad that she ended up getting it and almost won an oscar for it and um and debbie as far as todd said that was her favorite movie because unsinkable molly brown really was who his mother really was so really cool to get first-hand stories from todd to get to come out and share this all with you today and i don't know if this will stay if this statue will remain here the mother-daughter because he had told me that he's had different uh prototypes made of the figure i told you about that's on this pin i'll show you again so it's very possible that they will replace that these two figures right here with the one by rick lachance after i filmed the vlogs with katherine and todd kathryn took a fall and ended up breaking her arm in two places and had to have a head surgery so she's recuperating as i'm filming this two of the nicest people i've ever met katherine and todd so please send your well wishes out to catherine so what i'm going to do now is we're going to go out to coldwater canyon and i'm going to show you the outside of carrie fisher's home gate because carrie moved into the home that edith head once owned which is very interesting because edith had treated elizabeth taylor like a daughter elizabeth even had her own room at the top of the stairs and then carrie would go on to live in that house buy that house so elizabeth was her stepmother and then once the house next door was for sale debbie bought it so debbie and carrie were neighbors once you see the gate and everything you'll know why i wanted to show you because it's still the way it was when carrie lived there so let's head off to coldwater canyon so we've got a 25 minute drive from here since we're heading up coldwater canyon i'm going to stop and show you something along the way has nothing to do with this vlog but i thought you guys did want to see it i'm gonna stop off it eddie van halen's entrance to his house because there's something there i've noticed the last couple times i've been this way right here at the base of his gate fans have made a little memorial tribute right off the side of the road wish i had to brought some tape so i could help fix that okay carrie and debbie were on the beverly hills side of coldwater canyon so we're heading over the hill over mulholland i'm kind of surprised to see her gates were open we could kind of see a little bit of the house in there for a second but yeah you can see this was kerry's gate there's a pair of scissors and a sign that says beware of crabs now if we zoom over the fence a little bit we can kind of see the house a lot of history to this house apparently the like the doctor or captain or whatever from king kong lived in this house betty davis once lived in this house and then of course edith head and and you really can't see much i'm sorry um and then kerry bought it in 1993. they opened the gate again there's the house well what can i say we got what we could it's funny debbie said when carrie called her she said mom my neighbor just died and debbie said should i go to his funeral and she said no you should buy his house that's how it happened so not only was todd nice enough to give me this from the funeral of both debbie and carrie but he gave me something else and i'm going to share it with you since i can here you can see the little booklet from their funeral he was nice enough to give me one of these so i want to share it with you what a great picture of debbie and carrie together on stage young little carrie performing and then down here at the bottom of course it has their birth and death dates and then i can show you the inside is a picture of debbie and todd and that great and it says at the bottom we shall meet again then it says debbie reynolds and carrie fisher lived every precious minute of their lives they live nothing undone and nothing unsaid and today is our reminder to see to it that someday the same can be said about us they both loved a good party so what better way to celebrate them than to throw one with every choice we made in planning it we asked ourselves would the girls like this in the end though we realize there's only one thing that matters that you're here sharing the singular experience of having loved and been loved by two women who left an indelible mark on this world and on each of our lives thank you for coming to debbie and carrie's party your presence means so much to our family enjoy celebrate find joy and comfort in the love in this room today and above all live todd and catherine fisher and i love that debbie's there with her oscar and of course very fitting on the back don't be afraid of death be afraid of an unlived life and as promised a little bit more of that guy thank you all for watching you got what's going on over here jaw i promised everyone a little bit more pet activity at the end of this vlog why don't you wrap it up for us say thank you everyone for watching go watch some carrie and debbie movies have a great night and good bye [Music] bye you
