i just want to talk to you about from the subject gratefulness looks good on you gratefulness looks good on you father bless your word today bless every hearer bless every person that receives your word let it find us where we are anoint me o god to speak life today send your anointing god in this room and cause it to resonate throughout the world we will give you thanks for it in jesus name amen and a man gratefulness it really does look good on you so i know that y'all had an awesome uh holiday season i know that that god has been faithful to you we gave out a lot of turkeys here at the potter's house of north dallas we gave out some meals and i believe we said like over 350 uh families we we were able to be a blessing to to people that needed it so we we know that god used us to be food on on the table for a lot of people and we are grateful for god's blessing and even though this holiday may have seemed a little different to you uh than all of the other thanksgivings that you've ever had in your life uh just the fact that we are alive uh today is an absolute blessing now i know a lot of people have reduced thanksgiving down to a a thursday a thursday in the month of november but thanksgiving is so much more than a date on the calendar thanksgiving actually is not a day thanksgiving is a spirit it is something that we should possess in our lives every day of our lives especially those of us that have come to know jesus christ because we understand that he didn't have to do for us what he did but he did it anyway and sometimes he's done it in spite of us he's blessed us anyhow so there ought to be something in us that that says god i i am thankful i have i have gratitude can i tell you that gratitude is really an attitude gratitude um i read the other day was one of the most healthiest uh emotions that a person could have gratitude is a stress reliever if you are filled with stress i dare you to just stop and and and become grateful to god for something in your life gratitude makes you feel better uh gratitude it actually helps us live longer grateful people can live longer why because they don't have all the stress why don't they have the stress because they have an attitude of gratitude and so if you don't have one then i want to suggest to you that you do whatever you got to do to have an attitude of gratitude or to develop one well somebody says how do i so how do i do that pastor brady well we do that by understanding that god first of all he wants us to be appreciative he wants us to be grateful that's how if you're a parent that's how you want your children to be you don't want to just be a blessing to them and them look at you like okay so that's all you got no that's not going to go over well it didn't go over well my house it probably won't go over well in your house either no god says i want you to be appreciative he wants us to have a continuous uh attitude of gratitude and he wants us to continually be thankful unto him and to bless his name and first thessalonians 5 and 18 the bible says in everything give thanks for this is the will of god in christ jesus concerning you in everything he didn't necessarily say for everything okay he said but in everything there there are some things that that we might not be thankful for but in it we want to say god i'm in it and while i'm in it i give you thanks i love how the contemporary contemporary english version says it it says whatever happens keep thanking god because of jesus christ this is what god wants you to do so in everything we give thanks colossians 2 and 7 says let your lives overflow with joy let them overflow with thanksgiving so what he's saying to us here is that giving thanks is always in season there's there's never a season that we should not be thankful in our hearts unto god and if we don't have an attitude of gratitude then we need to ask god please help me have an attitude of gratitude well how are we going to do that well i'ma help us today a little bit so i trust that you got pen and paper or your notebook or something in your hand so that you can take down a few notes but today i want to talk to you from the life of the apostle paul and paul paul was a professional when it came to expressing gratitude okay paul he he was a master at it and when it came to expressing thankfulness to god and to other people paul lived in a perpetual state of thanksgiving not just to god but he lived in that perpetual state of thanksgiving to other people as well in every letter that paul writes in the new testament he gives thanks to god for all of the people that are there in his life he was a great example of how to be appreciative some people just don't know how uh to be appreciative well then we just got to look at paul and understand some things about him so that's what we're going to do today we're going to look into the life of paul we're going to find some answers as to why that we should express appreciation and what that we should express appreciation for and how that we should express that appreciation so let's begin today with the why why would and why should we express appreciation well you have to look at the root word of the word uh appreciation and you see that the root word means to appreciate now many of us know what it's like to buy a car and drive it off the lot and the moment that you drive that new car off the lot you it immediately begins to what not appreciate it begins to depreciate so appreciate is just the opposite it means to raise in value it means to increase so when when when something appreciates that means its value begins to move in an upward position and and and that that is not only true and things i mentioned a car but it's not only true in things it's also true in people when we begin to appreciate somebody that is in our life what happens is we begin to raise their value and we begin to increase their self-worth and we begin to increase their self-esteem that's why first thessalonians 5 and 11 says encourage one another and build each other up encourage one another why because as we do that with one another then we begin to build each other up you know life life has been a job in 2020 and it has broken down so many people but the bible says that we can fix that by the way that we build each other up how do you know that we can because the holy spirit lives within us and he builds us up and as he builds us up that means we have the ability to take the word of god and use the word to build up those that are around that are around us the good news translation uh uh no it's it's the message that translation that says in ephesians 4 and 29 watch the way that you talk let nothing foul or let nothing dirty come out of your mouth i if i was a clothesline preacher uh somebody i don't know what that means but if i was that that old old old school preacher i could just put my nail right there and and exit the stage with that because that preaches in and of itself the bible said let nothing foul let nothing dirty come out of your mouth say only what helps each word a gift say only if you're going to say something make sure that what you say is a word that helps somebody because each word is a gift he said in verse 31 make a clean break with all cutting with all backbiting with profane talk make a clean break with the words that come out of your mouth and be gentle he says be be gentle with one another be gentle with one another people need us to be gentle with them today be gentle with one another and be sensitive forgive one another as quickly and as thoroughly as god in christ forgave you so god is telling us what i want you to do is i want you to develop a an attitude of building each other up those that are in your family those that are in your your sphere of influence those that do life with you those that you have contact with he said i want you to make a habit of building people up and doing it with your words and and and words of a pre why why do it with our words because words of appreciation what they do is they raise a person's value it was william james delayed william james he was born in 1842 and he died in 1910 but he said in one of his writings the deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated the deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated every one of us has a need to be appreciated every one of us has has this thing where we want to know and we want to feel that what we do and who we are is appreciated and that it really matters to somebody mark twain said this he said i could go two months on one good compliment two months on one good compliment that that what that tells us is that's just how far that a compliment can go you know when kids get hungry they get cranky and and and they want to be fed well let me tell you something grown-ups are the same way when they get hungry emotionally they want to be fed and and when we begin to appreciate those that are around us it meets a felt need that that those around us might have so paul is saying it is important so let me teach you how to meet the felt need that people have for appreciation so paul gives us uh at least three things i'm sure there's many many more but he gives us at least three things that we ought to appreciate in others that many times we we have a tendency to overlook i want you to write these down because i want you to practice them there are there i'm going to give you at least three things today what are those three things that paul gives us paul says appreciate you might you might be saying today well i i'm i'm so frustrated with a certain person in my life well let me tell you what paul said if you can't look at if you can't really look and you're like i don't even know i don't even know what i can appreciate about that person i'm gonna give you i'm gonna give you a little bit of help right here number one appreciate people's loyalty appreciate people's loyalty paul says in the book of philippians when you find somebody in your life that you can count on when you find somebody who has stood with you through thick through thin when you find somebody that has been faithful to be your right or die he said appreciate them appreciate them in in uh philippians 1 he says to us in verse 3 uh he's talking and he says every time that you cross my mind i break out in exclamations of thanks to god and each exclamation is a trigger to prayer he said when i think of you it triggers me to pray for you when i think of you it triggers me to pray for you he said i find myself praying for you with a good with it with a glad heart in other words i i'm i'm glad that i get to pray for you he said i'm so pleased that you have continued on this with us believing and proclaiming god's message from the day you heard it from the very first day that you heard it right up to this present day and then he says in verse 7 it's not at all fanciful for me to think this way about you he said my prayers and my hopes have deep roots in reality because you have after all stuck with me he said paul paul is telling you i'm praying for you and it's not just a fanciful thing it's i'm it's not that i'm just i'm i'm just wishing he said no i'm praying for you and i genuinely want to pray for you why because he said you have stuck with me all the way all the way from the time i was thrown in jail from the time i was put on trial and came out in one piece he said you all have stuck with me and paul begins to appreciate them well he should because let me tell you something these people had prayed for paul they celebrated paul they stood with paul they were partners with him they were supporters of him in ministry and in return paul is saying to them and you know what because you've been all of that i appreciate you and i recognize that you have been loyal to me i recognize that many of you all have have been behind the scenes your name will will never get on on the grand lights uh of broadway and and somebody may never think that you are special but paul is saying i want you to know that whatever i've been able to accomplish for jesus christ i would have never been able to do it by myself i have needed you in my life and i appreciate you because you stood with me you were there for me in the face of good you were there in the face of bad you were there you stayed with me and some of us really need to pause and just in this weekend of thanksgiving we need to stop and say god i thank you for the people in my life that have stayed with me some of us need to be thankful because our marriage partners are stayed with us they've been extremely somebody married somebody that has been extremely patient with you aren't you glad we're not in the sanctuary because your face might tell it all right now but you know that god gave you somebody that was patient with you when they could have lost their cool with you they were patient with you they that we need to thank god and appreciate people in our ma in our relationships that carry more weight than they really should have to carry but they've carried it and they've carried it well carried it and in spite of it they hung out they stayed with you through bankruptcy they stayed with you through your career changes they stayed with you through the affair and through the lies they stayed by your side through the lapse of leadership they stayed with you through the deaths that you experienced in your family they were there for you in the middle of your midlife crisis they were there and they stayed they stayed with you they were patient they were present they were right there and paul says that you need to appreciate people like that appreciate those who have put their life on hold so they could help you get your life back maybe they didn't always do what you wanted them to do and maybe they didn't always say everything that you wanted them to say but you need to appreciate them just for the fact that they stayed with you they were like a rock in your life they were consistent can i ask you today how long has it been since you thanked your faithful friend for just being faithful think about that paul said to them from day one you stood with me and you know what i want to say to the potter's house of north dallas today just like those people stood with paul you all stood with with me you stood with the potter's house north you stood with the cause that god has assigned us to some of you have been here from day one you have been you came the first year and you've been faithful the second year you came some of you came the third the fourth the fifth some of you just came last year but from the moment that you put your hands to the plow you said that's my church and i'm going to pray for my church i'm going to stand with my church in a pandemic i'm going to continue to tune in i'm going to continue to sow my seed and as the pastor of this church i want to tell you thank you for remaining faithful yo listen some of you have been with us from the beginning you were faithful when we didn't even have a building we got a building today but you were faithful when we didn't even have a building when you had to wake up and on sunday morning and go to facebook real quick and figure out okay where's my church meeting at today are they they meeting at the island they then center their where where are they meeting are they meeting out there at the ranch are we going to the main campus today and wherever we call church you made your way there without a building you said i'm committed when we didn't even have a parking lot for you to put your car on without messing up your shoes you remained committed you you came and you were faithful you came and entered his gates with thanksgiving and entered his courts with praise and you put up with us hello you put up as with us as we had to grow and as we went through so many changes you couldn't you you wanted to sit there but they wouldn't let you sit there so you had to sit over here some of you didn't even have no idea where you were gonna end up sitting but you were faithful to come you didn't know where you were gonna get to park but you parked anyway some of you said i would really like to meet the pastor you've been here two years i never even shook my hand but you didn't let that stop you you kept coming and you were faithful unto god you came because god has assigned you some of you set out in the overflow some of you sat out on the other side of the doors and even when the doors were shut you looked on that big screen and when we said clap your hands you clap your hands and when we said sing your song you sing your song why because you were faithful you have been patient with us you have been consistent with us you have been faithful in your commitment to god you stuck it out with us through all the changes that we've been through when we said will you bring a toy for christmas you brought toys when we said we're black and white you wore black and white when we said come on and help us buy a chair you said here i am and i'm going to buy a chair when what no matter what we came at you with and for you said count on me pastor and you watched us grow i'm talking to y'all today you watched us grow some of you came early if we ask you to come early some of you stayed late if we ask you to stay late some of you gave your time your talent your treasure you're saying in the choir you sang on the praise team you came and you worshiped god you stood for two services you worked in the children's ministry you worked in the youth ministry you sat out here and you prayed for people you worked the parking lot in the summer you worked the parking lot in the winter you were there you stood at the door and said come on in welcome to the pilot's house of north dallas you took pride in serving the lord in this house and as the pastor of this church i want to say i appreciate you i apprec i've always appreciated you but i appreciate you right now like i probably have never appreciated you before i appreciate your loyalty i appreciate that you trusted me i appreciate that in the in the face of of of so much racial inequality you come at every sunday you stood in this place or you turn on the the computer and you're a part of what is going on at the potter's house north i don't take any of that for granted you come because god puts you here and listen you stood with us when we did things that were right and you stood with us not only when we made right decisions but you stood with us even if we made wrong decisions why because you felt like i know their heart i know that even if they miss you god they're trying not to miss you and some of you have said i'm here and that's why i'm here and i want to say thank you thank you for believing in us thank you and i mean yo when y'all believe in something you really believe in something you are loyal and it is that loyalty that's one of the reasons somebody asked me this week when are we going to open up the doors of the potter's house north again and i tell you today it is your loyalty to this house to god to me that makes me say not yet because here's what i believe i believe that some of you are so loyal that what you would do you you would have to you would have to wrestle if i if you if i said come on come on to church next sunday some of you would be here and you wouldn't think none about it others would be like i have to wrestle lord i've got a pre-existing condition but i know my pastor needs me i know i can't i can't stand the thoughts of my church going on and me not being there when i know there's a need it's that wrestling that i don't want you to have to do i don't want you to have to wrestle i don't want you to feel like oh god i got to put my health at risk in order to to obey you god now i'm going to tell you something right now at this moment that's why i've said no stay home we're going to do it like this for a minute because you're too important to me you're too loyal to god and you're too valuable for you to have to go through all that kind of stuff right there i appreciate your loyalty the second thing that paul told us that we should appreciate in people is he said appreciate people's differences appreciate people's differences what is it about us that we want everybody that's in our world we want them to think like us we want them to talk like us we want them to process like us we want them to believe like us or we can't be friends if you don't believe what i believe and if you don't go where i go and if you don't do what i do no no no god wants us to appreciate the differences that we have in each other colossians 3 and 13 paul tells us be patient be tolerant with one another always ready to forgive if you have a difference with anyone for you we're called to live as one united body and always to be thankful what he's telling us here is is he's telling us you can have a difference with somebody but you're still part of the united body my hand doesn't look like my foot but it's still all a part of the body and he's saying to us don't just appreciate people in our lives because of their loyalty but appreciate them for their differences too appreciate them for the uniqueness the their their unique ability appreciate them for their individuality appreciate them for being different differences are wrong as the differences are not wrong they're just different and we appreciate each other even though we are different differences sometimes can provide a balance in our lives i could get completely out of balance if everybody in my world looked like me walk like me talk like me i wouldn't one thing for sure is i would never grow and you would never grow either why because we're all on the same level we're all looking at things the same our perspective is the same but when we have people in our lives when god puts people in our iron sharpens iron so sometimes god will put somebody in your life that thinks different than you that sees it different than you so that there can be a balance in our life differences can provide the balance in our families it can probably provide the the balance in our churches in our nation in our world we just came through an election and i am grateful for democracy i said i am grateful for democracy yes it was it was close but at the same time we have to say democracy had its way and so i'm thankful for that you know why because there's checks and balances in our in our in our country and there needs to be checks and balances if i had everybody that i wanted in office and you had everybody that you wanted in office and it was all the same then then i'm going to tell you that wouldn't be good for our country but that's why we have a voice because we have the ability to say hey i i want to see this happen and i want to see that happen and then we rest in the peaceful transfer of power and i am thankful today that we have that in america differences provide a balance have you ever noticed uh it it it really is obvious in marriages have you ever noticed this is how i know god has a really great sense of humor because he causes opposites to attract have you ever noticed that god will put people together in a marriage that when you when you find them and you fall in love and you're just like oh yes i love them and and and he does that somehow he causes us to love people that are opposite of us now once you get married and you've been married a long time then you're like i don't know why he has to be like that and and he's probably like i don't know why she has to be like that but initially he lets us attract each other oftentimes you can take two people you you got one who he he might be an early riser he's up in the morning singing just rejoicing wanting to just get in there get this coffee and go to work and you are the kind that's just like let me wake up slow will you just be quiet i need to wake up slow opposites one of you might be completely uh daring and you're you're quick to take a risk while the other one is cautious and conservative one of you loves details you're like break it all down i want to know every detail if our water bill is this much how many gallons of water have we used is our trash included in that and you want i mean you want every detail to everything and somebody else your spouse might be just tell me the bottom line tell me how much i got to pay we're we're just different like that one could be a spender one could be a saver one likes to spend money as soon as you get it the other one says uh we got to put something back we are different but differences help us to have a balance it's always been that way with me and bishop bishop's faith i've always said his faith has gotten us just about everything we've ever had in life he'll hit him and he'll be like now now let's and i'm like we can't do that right now oh yes we can right now let's do it right now so if it wasn't for his faith we would never get it but if it wasn't for my ability to manage we probably could have never kept anything so it's it creates a balance in our lives so paul is saying to us appreciate each other's differences because when you appreciate a person's difference you know what that says to me that's the mark of maturity that tells me that you are a mature person when you can look at somebody else and appreciate the differences so so if you're grateful and you want to find a way to show it to somebody appreciate a person's loyalty number two appreciate the differences and the third thing that paul tells us here he said we should appreciate in people he said this this is what i want you to do i want you to appreciate their efforts appreciate their efforts in other words don't take for granted a person's efforts regardless of the outcome well if it ain't good i don't have to tell them no did they make an effort think about it did they make an effort if they did then you need to appreciate the effort that they made first thessalonians 1 and 2 says we always thank god for you how you put your faith into practice and how you how your love made you work so hard that's what he says he said we thank god for you because of the way that you put your faith into practice in other words you would put your shoulder to the plow and you would work and you wouldn't just do it half-heartedly he said you would work so hard he's saying you made a great effort i told you paul was the best at appreciating people he was saying you made a great effort you put everything you had into it it's it's kind of like um have you have you ever been doing something in your kids you had some little helpers you know and they wanted to help you my kids used to help me that when they were little they would want to help me clean house and then they went through that stage where they didn't want nothing to do with cleaning house but you know they want to spray the windex and they want to wipe the window or dad they want to help you cut the grass or they want to be right there helping you do what you're doing and really sometimes you know or maybe you're in the kitchen making cookies and they're can i help can i help can i help and and you you know you you let them help but it ends up creating such a big old mess but let me tell you something even though it's a mess their effort is priceless it's priceless because they want to be with you they made a mess that they enjoyed being with you i remember when i was a kid i don't know if i was in kindergarten i don't know what grade i was in but we were making uh we were taking paper plates and it was around the i guess it must have been around the holiday season and we were making imprints with our hand and so uh we were going to make a right imprint and we were going to make a left imprint and we were going to take them home to our parents so the day when i made my imprints i made my right imprint right here and then i made my right imprint right there so i don't know i guess i thought that just because it was on two separate pieces of paper that it was my right hand and my left hand but that wasn't the case i had just taken my right hand and turned it this way and then i took my right hand and turned it that way so i took i took it home to my mom and i gave it to her and you know what was so beautiful about it is that it didn't matter to her that i really instead of going a left-hand right hand i gave her two right hands it didn't matter to her you know why because she appreciated my effort i think she knew what i meant i think she knew what i was trying to do when i when i gave that to her she knew what i meant and she appreciated the gift that i brought her that is important if you have children listen to me closely that is important because you know what that did for me that set the tone in my life as a child that i didn't have to be perfect to be appreciated i didn't have to do it perfect before she would celebrate me let me tell you what she didn't do she didn't laugh at me she didn't say you silly you gave me two two right hands and not a right in the left she didn't do that she didn't poke fun of me she didn't judge me she appreciated me she appreciated the effort even when i came up short that's what i want you to hear today she appreciated the effort even when i came up short and my question to you today is when is the last time that you just appreciated somebody's effort can i tell you that people people need to be built up 2020 has broke so many people down and you know what everybody don't know how to articulate it and so you might just assume that oh they're okay they said nothing but sometimes they're dying on the inside and they just need somebody to appreciate them appreciate people's loyalty appreciate people's differences and appreciate the effort so maybe they didn't get it exactly right but appreciate the effort paul told us he told us what we should appreciate and he also told us how that we should appreciate it write this real quick if you're gonna appreciate people this is what he says number one be real with it be real with it in other words whatever you tell people it needs to be heartfelt it needs to be sincere it needs to be genuine it needs to come out of you honestly don't be phony people can't take it today don't be phony i love how how he says it in romans 12 9 don't just pretend that you love others really love them really love them the second thing he said if you're gonna appreciate people you need to be real with it but number two he said make sure that it's recognizable in other words have you ever had anybody give you a compliment and you just weren't really sure if that was a compliment yeah bishop would he said to me a couple days ago he said i love your hair and my hair was a wreck and i just looked at him like i was i don't know if you did you really mean you love my hair was that a compliment or you just being funny people will give you compliments and you're not really sure so so we may you know why because we're not specific and we're not clear and we're not pure so what he's saying to us make it plain if you're going to compliment somebody complement them make it distinctive nobody has ever wore those shoes like you wear them nobody has ever stood with me like you have be specific make sure it's recognizable i i have never loved anybody like i love you [Music] well pastor brady my kids know i love them my husband knows i love him my wife no i told my wife when i first met her i loved her really you might do you good every now and then just to tell her again just to tell them kids i love you to tell your brothers and your sisters hey man i love you people need to hear it well that's just not me that's not how i am i that's not my personality i wasn't raised like that that's not how we did in my house well change that you can change that today change it in your house change it with your friends change it with your children break the cycle so that three generations from now your though the brothers don't have a problem saying hey man i love you i appreciate you i'm for you i'm with you learn to give people a compliment that's recognizable proverbs 15 and 33 says what a joy it is to find the right word in the right season there's nothing like it to find the right word to say at the right time how do you do that well you pray you ask god to help you but you also practice practice it practice putting things together when you see somebody practice having the courage to step out and say you know what i appreciate you i love you you know what people are people are leaving this earth like this every second somebody is dying make sure that you take a moment and if you really love somebody tell them he's saying when you compliment somebody make sure that it's real make sure that it's something that they can understand and i love proverbs 12 and 25 in the living bible it says a word of encouragement does wonders why why should i why should i compliment somebody because a word of encouragement does wonders in the i believe it's the king james it says worry weighs us down but cheerful words lift us up worry weighs us down every day there's something to worry about but cheerful words lift us up so when we show people we appreciate them it needs to be real it needs to be recognizable and the third thing it needs to be reoccurring reoccurring it means over and over again 2nd thessalonians 2 13 says we must thank god at all times for our friends you whom the lord loves we must thank god at all times that means continually we must thank god constantly repeatedly for our friends and those that we love we must thank them we must thank god and thank them perpetually unremittingly why pastor brady well here's a good reason it's helpful to them it's motivating to them and it shows the people in your life i i don't just take your presence for granted i don't just take the fact that you do life with me for granted galatians 6 and 10 says whenever we can we should always be kind to everyone and especially to our christian brothers whenever we can we should always as i sat there last night and i was working and i was writing this out i said i said that over and over whenever we can we should whenever we can we should whenever we can we should whenever we can we should those words just stuck out to me whenever we can we should the king james says as we have opportunity as we have opportunity so that implies or that suggests that just because we have the opportunity today doesn't mean that we will have the opportunity tomorrow and 2020 if it has taught us anything it has taught us that we cannot take opportunities with people that we love for granted and i close with this alex haley he is the man that wrote [Music] uh he was the writer of roots alex haley and he he said in an article this is while he was when he was young very young he was in the coast guard and he had worked all day in the galley on thanksgiving day preparing for all of the other crew he was preparing dinner serving dinner and that night after he got through cleaning up he said that he went back to his to his uh bunk he said that he just stretched out and laid out on the bunk he said i was exhausted he just laid there and he he started thinking about the meaning of thanksgiving so he flipped the words around instead of thanksgiving he flipped it around and said giving thanks giving thanks he said and i immediately thought i need to write a letter to every person that's been a difference maker in my life he said seven people came to mind and he said as i started counting them i realized that i had already lost four of them they were already gone they had passed away he said there were there were four of the biggest difference makers in my life and he said i realized i have not even told them how thankful and what a difference maker they were to me so he said immediately he just took his pen and his paper and he started writing to those that were still alive he said i wrote a letter to my to my father to my grandmother and he said i wrote a letter to the principal of the school that i attended who every day before class would open up class in prayer he said that prayer always made such a difference so he said i took the letter my pen and paper i wrote them a letter and the article goes on and he just talks about how that as he gave them the letter and thanked them for being the difference makers in his life how much of a difference that it made in their lives those three that he could still write to why are you sharing that with us well i'm sharing it with you because i want to challenge you i want to challenge you to think about the difference makers in your life and never ever ever take them for granted as a matter of fact this is still the season of thanksgiving and giving things why don't you why don't you make your list those difference makers that are in your life the ones that have stood with you the ones who believed in you when you didn't believe in yourself the ones who prayed for you the ones who you disappointed just stop a minute the ones who the ones who were always there don't take them for granted another day and the ones you know that always fixed your turkey on thanksgiving the ones who were always the first to help you decorate your house the ones who you felt like when you had made the biggest mistake of your life you could tell them and they wouldn't change the way they loved or cared about you why don't you say thank you why don't you just write a letter why don't you send a text why don't you pick up the phone and give them a call because whenever we can we should [Music] while we can we should while you can you should be grateful and you know what gratefulness when you help someone else by being grateful to them it doesn't just make them look good [Music] gratefulness makes you look good too so let people know but more importantly make sure you never take god for granted if you're in your life another thing 2020 has taught us is don't take god for granted [Music] don't take his presence for granted don't take his house for granted don't take brothers and sisters for granted don't take hugs for granted i understand there was a moment that we could all come in here and hug each other but in march for many people that ceased they haven't had a hug since march don't take things for granted don't take god for granted because the truth of the matter is church we owe him everything we actually owe god our entire life because we would not be alive if it hadn't been for him can i tell you that he came to earth 2 000 years ago and he took on the form of a human so that he could walk on the earth so that he could know what it was like to feel what we feel and face what we face and he also came so that we could know what god was really like he came came to restore our relationship with god he came to pay the price for our sin because no matter what we could pay it would never be enough but he came and paid that price so that we could have eternal life you might say i don't i don't understand all of that that's too much i don't understand okay so you don't have to understand all of that at one time just understand that he did it for you he died for you he gave his life for you he went to hell for you so that he wouldn't have to go to heaven without you today if you don't know jesus all you got to do is just simply say god that's it right now say it with me say god you made me you created me you paid the price for me you redeemed me and you offered me the gift of salvation and i accept it now right now i accept you as my savior today if you prayed that prayer and you believe that you are saved happy thanksgiving you have a whole new reason to give god thanks today
