hi welcome back to pc builder i'm jason we did it we're there hallelujah the gpu crisis is over i'm declaring it right now we've got massive amounts of gpus at msrp and even below including the rtx what is this madness going on right here we've got intel disaster of gpu launch oh my god it's completely falling apart and we've got new gpu launches on the horizon as well as new generations of gpus coming we'll talk about all that coming up if you get value out of the video give it a like it makes a huge difference to the channel of course subscribe and click that bell icon that way you get notified when we release cool content with that let's jump into it before that this video is sponsored by vip scd key say goodbye to crazy expensive windows 10 licenses and that terrible activate windows 10 watermark right now use the links in the video description head over to vip std key and get a windows 10 home or pro oem license for a great price pick your product license then use the pc builder discount code pc25 for an additional 25 off go to the activation settings on your pc put in the code and boom you have a fully licensed windows 10 for a crazy low price which can be upgraded for free to windows 11. use the links in the video description below all right let's jump into the pricing right away because oh my gosh the gpu crisis may be over look at this folks look at all that green on the msrp column over there so many gpus at msrp we'll get into what that means why some of the numbers are what they are but let's start off with the individual card pricing for the rx 6000 series then we'll jump into nvidia cards and then we'll revisit this crazy gpu crisis is over moment finally so let's take a look in march pricing was down significantly across most of the rx 6000 series cards it's fallen even further even steeper dives on many of the cards especially like the 1600 xt and 6800 but let's start at the bottom the rx 6500 xt of gpu that i do not want you to buy just for the purposes of market analysis we have to include it yes it finally hit its msrp of that's the 199.99 color fighter edition this even isn't even the tiny little itx crappy version this is the power color fighter version so that's not bad again don't buy this gpu but it is it msrp but don't buy it then if we look at the 6600 it fell 15 down to 315 and the 6600 xt fell 21 down to 370 both of those below now they're msrp in fact you can even get some of these cards over at amazon now for decent prices here's a 6600 for about 330 dollars a new egg scott a model that's about 15 unless it's a rebate you'll have to get used to rebates by the way that's how most of these retailers are going to actually be able to cut their prices because remember they bought these cards when they were super expensive and now they're going to have to sell them at a loss unless they get rebates from the manufacturers to help them out otherwise those cards are going to sit there for freaking ever and they're going to take a big loss similarly for 370 after rebate here uh msi is coming through with a whole bunch of rebates so is gigabyte on the higher end cards but msi is really doing it at the low end they've got about 15 to 20 off most of their cards which now puts this below msrp the msi mech radeon rx 6600 xt another massive price dump this month was the 6700 xt and this happened like a day or two ago still was massively overpriced still more money than the 3060 ti at the time and then all of a sudden boom the other day just prices just plummeted everywhere and you can see it's come down 19 to 485 dollars again another msi mech radeon rx 6700xt honestly the coolers on them don't matter that much at this level of gpu these coolers are absolutely fine uh after rebate here you can see this one's 484. they are also on the amd website though if you want the reference model for 479 for the msrp but right now newegg for five dollars more for the aftermarket model not bad all right let's round it up with the top end of the rx 6000 series the 6800 fell 15 down to 759 and it's actually a pretty good model too it's the azak radon rx 6800 phantom d looks really nice the 6800 xt fell 20 20 biggest jump of anything except the 6600 xt down to 799 dollars that's actually really nice model that's the sapphire pulse now that's with the promo code but of course that's how they're doing this and finally we've got the radeon rx 6900 xt didn't fall very much just down five percent to 950 so as we can see on the radeon side we've got a pretty big dip into msrp we have several cards that are actually below their msrp let's jump into the nvidia pricing and you can see some changes in spreadsheet just got made because newegg just updated the pricing and a couple of models i was going to show you that were just there this morning for about 35 minutes have gone out of stock thanks so much newegg i really appreciate you not all right so let's jump into the 3050 i was about to show you a 300 model of the rtx 3050 and i was almost going to say it might almost be time to think about buying that gpu but it went out of sale immediately by the way folks do not be buying this gpu at 300 or 329 it is a glorified gtx 1660 super with dlss that is it there are much better deals including now better deals uh for nvidia cards if you just can't stomach buying an amd graphics card for whatever reason still came down quite a bit from last month where it was 350 fell about six percent would have been nice to say it fell all the way down to three hundred dollars but again that card was there and gone maybe next month we'll see it even lower the card i would replace it with is the rtx 3060 now came down all the way down to 389.17 dropped that was pretty huge and now it's in the range where you could almost start to think about it still not competitive in my estimation with the amd uh equivalents out there for 389 dollars i would buy this over the rtx 3050 every day absolutely even the four hundred nine dollar one and there's some other models that are priced around that i do think that with the price drops of the rtx 3060 obviously following the amd price drops nvidia is clearly letting amd drop all their prices first and then they're just kind of adjusting as amd goes down unfortunately i have some bad news on the rtx 3060 ti which is that the model was going to show you it went out of stock i've adjusted this to 589 that's actually a three percent increase over last month you're like what the heck jason how could these gpu prices be going up hear me out for a second i think what might be going on with the 3060 ti is that since this is actually a cut down 30 70. this is not a souped up 3060 die this is a cut down 3070 die at this life kind of age of the node right now the yields are probably very very very high for the 30 70s and they're probably not running into many that they actually have to cut down or they may be mostly producing them as 30-70 ti's and if they are having to cut anything down it's just to the 30-70 level i would say if you wanted one of these things i would just wait a little while and wait for the 30-70 to come down but 589 is not terrible just not competitive versus its amd counterpart right now and i feel like is kind of really falling out of step with the rest of the gpu market 3070s are a little crazy like i was saying uh 730 dollars for a 30 70 absolutely the same price as it was last month zero percent change however 3070 ti's are now cheaper 699 dollars remember 3070 ti only has four percent more performance than the 30 70. it's just basically if anything kind of almost like a factory overclock if you will now i know a number of you are going to be super excited because the 30 80 has come down 18 to 820 at the same time you're probably like well i might be waiting we'll get to that towards the end of the video should you buy now or should you wait now i don't track the 12 gigabyte differently than i do the 10 gigabyte the performance between them is very very close uh but right now uh for 849 dollars with the 30 promo code if you are looking for a 12 gigabyte one again i wouldn't do this but 970 dollars after rebate i just wouldn't do it for the the price difference and of course we got the 3080ti came all the way down to 1150 that's a 12 drop that's pretty sizable and technically now under its msrp oh my goodness now i don't agree with the 1200 msrp i think that's a load of bunk uh given that the 3080 msrp was almost half of that that of course is a pny model for 1150 also a gigabyte model for about 1200 and finally the rtx 3090 down 11 to 1700 dollars and not a bad model for 1700 gigabyte gaming oc card uh you got the evga one with a 280 millimeter evga rgb all-in-one liquid cooler for 1800 so if you need the liquid cooler that's probably actually the better deal for you right there okay so where does that leave us you can see tons and tons of green over there at our percent over msrp that means those cards are within a msrp what do we mean by that well for the cards that do not have founders edition that's nvidia or reference models that's on the amd side then the msrp is just the msrp they have to hit that number for cards that have a founder's edition or reference model typically in a normal market you could see aib partner board aftermarket cards priced up to about 20 of that so anything within 20 we're calling within the msrp but even if you don't accept those numbers even you say jason that's a bunch of bs i don't agree with you at all at the rate these cards are falling they're gonna hit that msrp within the next 30 to 45 days now some of the cards have stagnated no look the cards are not going to fall to zero right at some point they are going to begin to level off where do i think those prices are going to level off well for the 30 60 ti i think we may have seen it so i don't know as those cards will get significantly cheaper we'll have to see in the next 30 days the 3060 i think has room to fall i think the 30 50 certainly has room to fall as well on the amd side i would expect the 6600 to get even cheaper but frankly i think the cards at the high end of the market are going to have to fall because a lot of those buyers now are just waiting for the next generation so i think overall it's looking much much better and at this point yes the gpu crisis is over and if we take a look at the graph the historical graph we can see the massive massive dive the gpu prices have come down largely gamers have won the battle quickly jumping over to take a look at the older generation of video cards you can still buy new gtx 1650 1660 ti and super and the rtx 2060 they're all terrible values but they have come down quite a bit since february they've fallen 22 percent to 27 within the last month though not a lot of movement nobody should be buying any of these gpus right now if you're even thinking about or if you just bought one return it get something better similarly on the amd side used cards you should absolutely avoid the rx 5000 series which is our dna one and the vega series vega 56 vegas 64. these were amazing amazing mining cards for ethereum that's why they come at such a high price probably we'll see these come significantly down in price once we move to proof of stake jumping quickly to where budget builders might want to look right now that's the pascal and maxwell series older nvidia gpus well this group has fallen up to 37 for the 980 ti and about 30 to 35 for the rest of the group now listen you can actually get some of these cards down for around 200 much better than 6 500 xt and finally another place a budget builders might want to look is the polaris generation for amd radeon graphics that's the rx 470 480 rx 570 and 580 and even the 590. now one thing i've noted on ebay is that the overall volume of like the 470s and 480s come way way down 580s are out there in numbers as are the 570s this is a lot of cryptocurrency miners are selling these cards off they just don't make any real money anymore so they're trying to get what they can from that being said 180 right now for the rx 570 that's a very very good value card but overall the rx5 gigabyte 200 and honestly that's where i would look if i were building a budget gaming pc let's jump into why prices continue to fall we're going to keep it short this time because crypto mining has become less and less of an issue and that is why prices are falling right now yes the silicon shortage early on definitely contributed to higher prices however the infinite demand the gpu miners out there mining cryptocurrencies primarily 97 98 ethereum out there is what drove graphics car prices insane they'd start off with rigs like this then they'd build bigger rigs and then it would just become absolute insanity and they would pay top dollar any price for gpus they have warehouses full this is as recently as uh december of 2021 not that long ago right massive massive warehouses if you have enough graphics cards you have to put numbers up here on the top that's too many graphics cards so you want to know where all the graphics cards have actually been as crypto has crashed in terms of its value and its mining profitability gpu prices have absolutely plummeted crypto mining because they are moving rapidly towards proof of stake they're gonna shut down gpu mining we expect that to happen sometime between uh probably july and september this year they're getting very very close on the test nets out there that's why gpu prices are coming down so where does the gpu market go from here well we know that cryptocurrency mining demand is absolutely dropping off a cliff in fact as i'm filming this cryptocurrency prices are dropping off a cliff so we will see at some point a mass flood of used gpus hit the used market again that's not going to be for a while though that's not going to be until probably later this summer maybe early fall some of those miners are going to hold on those cards hoping against hope that something's going to change it's just not going to the other thing that's going to happen right now in the more immediate term we're getting the 50 xt updates to the 6950xt 6750xt 6650 xt don't have pricing on these cards just yet future jason here just before the video goes live videocards.com leaked the amd upcoming pricing i believe this was on a website somewhere here 1099 for the rx 6950 xt that's a hundred dollars more 550 dollars basically for the 67 50 xt that's 70 more than the 6700 xt and the 6650 xt 20 more up to 399 usd the performance on these for this 66.50 xt supposedly about 15 more performance 6750 xt supposedly about 17 maybe up to 20 on the 6950xt over the 6900 what do i think about the prices they're stupid they're really stupid i don't know what to tell you i don't mind 20 more than the 6600 xt that's probably fine if you're gonna give us 15 more performance seems actually kind of like a little bit of a deal there i just don't see how the cards are going to be competitive in the mid-range and the high end remember amd only produces about 20 of the overall gpu share right now if you want to take market share away from nvidia nvidia has mind share people will mindlessly buy their gpus just because it's nvidia if you want to take that market share away you've got to give them more incentive i just don't see where this does it and frankly i don't even think these msrps are really going to be real maybe on launch day however within a month i expect these to be down about where the other cards are because can they realistically continue to sell these cards at this price given that the gpu market is kind of nose diving right now in terms of price probably not on the intel side wccf tech released a big leak today as i was filming this intel art graphics ready for showtime and they say that the a750 a580 and a380 are going to come out this is rumored right now i'll link the article down in the video description you can take a look at it i do just want to take a little bit of issue with this right now in terms of the pricing because if intel is going to release these gpus at the comparable performance that they're listing here in you know end of may and early june lol on the launch date you know intel's been promising these forever but let's take a look at the price to performance here so a gpu the a750 is supposed to compete with the rtx 3060 at 350 msrp eek no way right now you can pick up for 389 an rtx 3060 and what would you rather have an rtx 3060 at 389 or the a750 completely untested unknown supposedly just the same performance as the 360 for a slight discount like 30 bucks no no one's gonna buy this thing these prices are absolutely going to be a disaster for intel so i can only surmise that either this leak is wrong on the pricing or that they're just going to kind of paper launch these things to say that they did it so when battle mage comes out next year which is the next generation of arc gpus they don't get beaten up over price comparisons that's the only thing i can think and then shove the rest of these chips into laptops where they can probably sell them at a much better price and i think at this point you know with new gpus coming out i just don't know where these place in the market and i wouldn't count on them of course coming down the pike and probably hurting demand right now as well is the fact that we've got new gpus launching towards the end of 2022 and that is the amd rdna 3 that's the rx 7000 series and we've got nvidia lovelace that's probably going to be the rtx 4000 series and the performance on these is going to be anywhere from 80 to 120 of current generation now we'll get into should you uh by now or should you wait in just a moment we're just expecting the halo cards and the flagship cards to launch around q4 of this year maybe even early q1 2023 with the rest of the cards to follow on a very staggered launch schedule so don't get too excited if you normally buy like an rtx 3060 and think you're gonna pick up a 40-60 by the end of the year probably not going to happen let's play everyone's favorite game should you buy now or should you wait well honestly at this point graphics card prices have plummeted we are in a normalized market right now we have cards at msrp it really depends if you're the kind of buyer who just wants a graphics card it's a great time to buy at the budget end i would still probably go used on the new side uh yeah at the budget level the rx 6600 looks phenomenal in terms of its value i would expect that maybe to come down a little bit more but don't expect that card to fall a lot more at this point on the high end though i think you're probably just gonna wait to the end of the year you know again if you're going to wait just remember it's not like december is going to come or the launch is going to come you're just going to get a card things are going to go immediately out of stock maybe for up to a month maybe for up to two months who knows depending on how much volume they're able to pack in there so you know i could see somebody still plunking down money for like a 30 80 right now it's come down significantly to you know 830 not terrible pricing if you want to keep gaming remember it's only may right now we still got like seven more months to the end of the year one thing i really want to know from the audience is would you like me to continue to expand this series out the gpu market obviously continues to normalize but originally i conceptualized this as looking at the overall pc parts market and figuring out what it costs every month to build a pc and when prices go up for certain components and they go down and comparing them over time however the gpu market news just dominated everything over the last couple of years so that's where this series went let me know if that's a series that you'd like to see on a regular basis and add it into this video or even done separately if you got value of the video give it a like it makes a huge difference channel and subscribe and click that bell icon that way you get notified when we release cool content and if you want to super thanks us with a tip we just got approved for that by youtube down there check it out we really really do appreciate the support of the channel are you still trying to figure out what gpu is best for you in terms of the features and performance well check out our best gpu for gaming 2022 video we basically go through and explain all the technical details how to figure out the difference between them and how to get the best value for you and we'll catch you on the next one
