Gospel of John Chapter 6 Bible Study

praise God good day to you my brothers and sisters in Christ probably tired of listening to this my name is Clarence obviously I'm the pastor of United body of Christ Church I know those that I've been with us you always hear me introduce myself but I introduce myself also for those that I just joined us for the first time it is an honor to be here coming to you again with another Bible study we won't take I won't take too much of your time as always what we do is we review we'll be reviewing the Gospel of st. John chapter five we've covered this last week the the actual chapter we've covered last week however we'll review remember it's important the way I feel is if we we make sure that you have an understanding of where we were that you can have an appreciation of where we're going those of you that that haven't seen the other teachings of the Gospel of John you can reached you can get those on our website we're at www.uvu.edu/library until essing you'll also find my wife she was bless her she was able to make sure that there is a online bible that you can follow us first verse perverse just go to our website there again I give honor to God it is an honor to be here before you magnify his holy son the Lord Jesus Christ that's why I'm here to prepare the way for the second coming of the of the Lord Jesus Christ anyway without further ado let's get into the review again this is the review of last week's lesson the Gospel of John chapter 5 last week verse 5 going in through verse 9 Jesus was over at the over in Bethesda with verse two having five porches or five doorways and a certain time of the year an angel would come down there was a pool there and an angel will come dry come down and bless this pool and within this pool lift anybody that got into the pool got into the moving of the water they were healed of whatever infirmities that they had we had an opportunity to meet an individual that had an infirmity for some thirty and eight years and Jesus came up to him and axed him in verse 6 of chapter 5 will thou be made whole and I'm kind of found humor this but I guess kind of looking at it from his standpoint he was saying every time he says I've been coming in I've been coming here year after year you know or I've been here all this time and and unfortunately I am unable to put myself into the water and every time the trouble under the troubling of the water go where every time the angel come in and no move the waters everybody goes out ahead of me and I'm unable to take advantage of the healing that's been provided by the mercies of God so yeah all Jesus accidents will thou be made whole and so after he got done with his speech in verse 9 the Lord tells him take up thy bed and walk and it was a commandment that Lord gave to his body that was a withered and you know you would you would have to assume that the Bible says that he was impotent and you would have to assume that that that means his limbs especially being you know been somewhat paralyzed no function within his limbs and there's been like just for 38 years so the Lord spoke the word of healing and his body became obedient to the healing that came forth in a commandment from the Lord Jesus Christ and immediately it says in verse 9 the man was made hold and took up his bed and walked now all this was done on the Sabbath and we we found out last week that the decide birth was an ordinance that God had given actually you go back to the beginning the one when Lord God created the heavens and the earth you know he did it within six days and he rested on the seventh day and he framed that day as the day of rest men would have six days of work and one day of rest so the Sabbath was a day of observance observance I should say though that was meant to give man rest on that day and it was the Jewish Sabbath was from Friday evening to Saturday evening so we noticed that one of the things that we learned is that jesus healed this man on the Sabbath amen going down to verse 10 the Jews the Jews at the time had an issue with it they said here the Jews therefore said unto the man that was cured it is the Sabbath day it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed one of the things that we talked about last week is this guy been out here for years he says that he had this as the scripture said that he had this affirmative for 38 years so we know that they had to that had to be a familiar face to the Jews and to see this man carrying this bed you know he's been out there for quite some time because he's been laying on this bed and to see him actually have the strength after not having use of his limbs for thirty-eight years to actually have the strength to not only get up and walk but to also carry his bed that he laid on fall that time that that was praises due to God and instead of the Jews now you know they know the familiar face they gotta pass by the guy every time that they would go into this marketplace nevertheless instead of honoring God and praising him and be like oh my goodness praises be to God God is the only one that can heal you that you're caring is bad and instead of them giving God was due to him they just question the man as far as they're trying to persecute him because all this took place on the Sabbath day so that's one of the things that we had an opportunity to talk about they try to condemn them they told them in verse 10 that it is not lawful for thee to carry it let's see and you can read about the rest of that Jesus thing it says then acts they what man is this that told thee to pick up thy bed and walk and you know they was looking for Jesus Jesus took off but later on there's another thing that we had an opportunity to talk about verse 14 of the fifth chapter after where Jesus findeth him in the temple and said unto Him behold thou art made whole said no more let's say worse thing come unto thee and we actually kind of went into that last week because it would it would seem that the scriptures are implying at least back then and maybe some cases today but at least for sure back then according to the scriptures because the scriptures are true back then some sicknesses not all some sicknesses was due to the lifestyle of sin and the enemy having their way with us because of our lifestyle of sin that that was led back then and the Scriptures would imply that here in verse 14 we had an opportunity to go over to the Luke to the Gospel of st. Luke to kind of elaborate more on that in Saints if you don't mind for those that are just joining us that missed last week's lesson I like to take time out if we could to go back to Luke Luke's chapter or Luke's Gospel rather chapter 11 verse 24 oh you know they kind of laboratory is a saying sin no more lest a worse thing come unto thee so if you would go with me to Luke's Gospel chapter 11 verse 24 through 26 praise God let's see I don't want to be before you too long here now watch what Jesus is saying here about an unclean spirit and this is just referencing what Jesus was saying send no more unless something worse happened to you look what he says here in 11 chapter look beginning at verse 24 when the unclean spirit is going out of the man he walketh through Dry places seeking rest and findeth nun he said I will return unto my house whence I came and when he cometh he find it it swept and garnished verse 26 then goeth he and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself more wicked then it says and they enter in and dwell there and the last the last state of that man is worse than the first and that's what we have to pay attention to as I said the last state of the man is worse than the first and this is where Christ said send no more less something worse happen to you and I think last week we kind of um metaphorically defined it as to say that say you owned a house and fictitiously or metaphorically speaking you own a house and you've had tenants in your home that was just bad very bad no respect tore up your property no respect for your property very nasty you did what you could to get a mouth finally you got an eviction that you were able to go through the system you went through the courts and the judge gave you an eviction notice you know to to to you know to put forth to execute and within this once you got them out of your home you had an opportunity to get it cleaned up this is where Jesus said it was garnished it was cleaned up you had an opportunity to repair the damage to clean up however after you cleaned it up your house was empty you didn't fortify it you didn't fill it up with anything you just got him out cleaned it up and then you left it well that's according to what scriptures are saying and still metaphorically speaking you end up people see that there's an abandoned house that's attractive amen and so what they end up doing is coming and checking it out and seeing how swept and garnished it is they go back and get some some other tenants and they just get into your house and start living here and making it worse than it was before and that's kind of metaphorically what Christ is saying that once once he gets the spirits outta you once he get the enemy apart from you you have an obligation to fortify to allow Christ to fortify your temple and if you end up going back into the lifestyle that that puts you in that situation in the first place you're going to attract not only the demons that he already eradicated but they're going to bring some others there because it's now appealing to him again because Christ came and swept it all out cleaned it all up just like he did in the temple when the moneychangers was in there so I wanted to make sure that we were on the same page with that that spiritually somewhat supernaturally that might be the cause of sicknesses and pestilences you know the disabilities today as it was back in the scriptures did quite possibly I know the Scriptures talked about it back then so that might be the cause I wanted to make sure that as far as the review goals that we did touch on that again verse five and and 17 Jesus spoke about his identity you know the Jews were already mad because he's he's healing folk on a Sabbath day and it said they was holy jesus answered them my father worketh here the two and and I worked and so they once he starts and his father they wanted to kill him even more so because he's saying now he's declaring his identity as being the son of died so they wasn't have a nicer day they really took issue with him on that verse five in nineteen I thought was real interesting as Jesus began to to somewhat chest eyes them he says on to them that the Sun could do nothing of himself but when he said the father do whatsoever things he doeth these also doeth the son likewise and I thought what was sentimental about what Jesus was saying here even in this chest Heisman of love what was sentimental here is that he's describing the relationship that he has with his dad he's describing the father-and-son relationship and and and quite honestly this is the way it should be with our own children with our own sons fathers we have this relationship with our sons those that carry our name though our children are conformed to our image were conformed to the image of our of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is conformed to thee to the image of God and and that our sons the relationship that Jesus is showing here that he's telling about here is ideal that we won't with our our own sons same answer I wanted to make sure that that was touched on because it's real dear as you hear what he's how he's described the relationship there well let's see here verse of 5:22 and 23 that all men should honor the son even as they honor the father he that honoureth not the son on earth not the father so it goes on to say that if you don't accept the son then you're not accepting the father you can't believe in God but don't believe in the son that's that's not how this thing work if you accept God being the Almighty the everlasting the unseen king if you accept God you have to accept his son and Jesus put that out there very clearly you can't accept one without accepting the other Jesus go on to say here as he's berating as he's letting them know putting them into their place he says here we thought it was real interesting interesting that in five 28 and 29 Marvel not at this for the hour is coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice and and we believe that as he died we believe that he went down and ministered to those that had already preceded death you know he we believe that he ministered to him and gave them an opportunity to believe on him therefore I see ascended up into heaven when the time comes that that he comes through in that cloud you know with the great trumpet those that are dead in Christ those that are dead in Christ they accepted him will rise first amen so we wanted to make sure that Christ mentioned that and we want to make sure that we elaborated on that here and I think this should wrap it up for us of chapter 5 verse 43 and 44 we had an opportunity to discuss this last week as well it says I'm coming my father's name and he received me not if another man shall come in his own name him ye will receive and and and it's - and it was saying that how much of a stumbling block that that men pleasing is you know me of being men pleasers you know the fact that we one of the examples that we made last week is if even that of my own self if there was a major major pastor doing this like a creflo dollar or or TD jakes or you know a reputable name a man of God you know you would have probably more of an audience for say and this is kind of what Christ was saying here that when when you know he's a carpenter he grew up as a carbon even though he came from heaven but come in through this world his caretakers was his father Joseph earthly father which was his caretaker and his mother Mary which also was his motherly caretaker here and by trade he was a carpenter and so the authority that's resonating from him was being dismissed because all they can see is just this carpenter that that you know that's from Mary and Joseph they don't see him coming from his father and the stuff from the father in heaven and this spirit the power of his words that's resonating the miracles that testify of that what he's saying is true can't no man do what he was doing unless it was given unto by his father which is God so it was saying you know not to get caught up in what what you know big names you know cuz that's the only way if a big-name person that came there and he said he was from God they made him they might have believed him but you thought about somebody that that took on the form or trait of a carpenter you know and they had a hard time relating to what he was saying there so you know well praise God we'll get into chapter 6 and look forward to see what what we get a chance to eat today amen so here we go chapter 6 after these things Jesus went over to the Sea of Galilee which is at the sea of Tiberias and a great multitude follow him followed him because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased remember especially the impotent man you know pick up thy bed and walk you know and he did that and then this guy was inflicted for thirty-eight years okay and Jesus went up into the mountain and there he sat with his disciples it says and the past over a feast of the Jews was near or nigh when you seen I it means near and when Jesus then lifted up his eyes and saw a great company come unto Him he said unto Philip when shall we buy bread that these may eat or how much do we have that we can buy bread so that they can eat us what he's asking and this he said to prove him for he himself knew what he would do so basically Jesus is throwing a question out there he's Cana he know what he's about to do so he's kind of setting it up for Philip here you know through Philip here he's setting it up and verse seven Philip answered him two hundred pennyworth the bread is not sufficient for them that every one of them may take a little you know so king you know two hundred pennies worth then and you know of course I'm given the opportunity we'll look some of the stuff up here two hundred pennies worth or a denarii was two hundred days worth of wages a denarii was one penny so you figured they would get a penny a day for two hundred days so that's pretty much what had 200 pennies which is an American terms is $200 and you're talking about feet and you know multitudes of people and they're talking about bread so that's you know courting a Phillip Phillip this and looked us all we were you asking everybody to take crumbs off that cuz this is not gonna go too far verse eight one of us disciples Andrew simon Peters brother said to him there is a lad here which have five barley loaves and two fish two small fishes but what are they to so many verse 9 of I'm sorry verse 10 and Jesus said make the men set down now there was much grass in the place so that the men sat down in number about 5,000 now understand what the scripture just said here and Jesus said make the men sit down now there was much grass in the place so the men sat down in number about 5,000 that's not how many God that's not how many people got fed that's just the men alone 5,000 men alone that ate okay but there was you're talking women and children that didn't get included within this count a man verse 11 and and and and again well let's read on and you'll get a chance to see where we're going with this and Jesus took the loaves and when he had given thanks he distributed to the disciples and the disciples and and the disciples to them that were set down and likewise of the fishes as much as they would have or as much as they would eat as much as they can get fool off of so not only that the men women and children eat but he also fed his disciples and no one was without food and not only was they not without food but they had enough food and that they would get full off of amen verse 12 and when they were filled there you go they had enough to get full and when they were filled he said until his disciples gather up the fragments that remain it that nothing be lost my wife can relate to this because she makes sure that there is no she don't believe in wasting anything and that's how we ought to be you know you know when you have too much to wear you eat a meal one time and whatever it's left you just you just throwing it out you know that's not the way God would have it you see that whatever was left you know God made sure that it was gathered up he didn't let anything go to waste so just wanted to put that on out there for so I can be guilty of that from time to time myself but when you see it written in the scriptures you know that we not we need not be that way verse 14 oh I'm sorry verse 13 forgive me therefore they gather they gathered them together and filled twelve baskets with just the fragments alone of what was left over all that was left over they end up filling twelve baskets of the fragments of five barley loaves which remained over and above unto them that had eaten wow just that much that was left then those men when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did said this is of a truth that proper thought should come into the world verse 15 when Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force to make him a king he departed again into the mountain alone himself and and you know in other other scriptures and the gospel said that when he went into the mountain he went there to pray but let's pause right there for a minute they wanted to make him a king one of the reasons is because what they saw and what it's not just the miracles that they've seen him do like the healing but they could get something out of him and that's and and somebody that's able to provide you know they they wanted to just roll with him you know not because of his deity but because of what he was able to do and to the point that they were going to aggressively take him up snatch him and make him a king you know not by choice they were going to make this happen and and it was for the wrong reasons and and then that's not what he was there for him accepting the role of King at this time what would have hindered him from completing it the will of the Father amen and and they especially their motives was wrong in the first place even if they had right motives at the end of the day there were still needed to be a will of the Father that needed to be at year two and going the route that they wanted it wouldn't have gotten done verse 16 and when evening was now come his disciples went down with us into the sea and entered into a ship and went over to the sea toward Capron 'im capernaum brother and it was now dark and Jesus was not come down to them verse 18 and the sea arose by reason of her great great wind that blew so when they had rowed five or and twenty or thirty furlongs they see Jesus walking on the sea drawing near unto the ship and they were afraid now a furlong one furlong is considered an eighth of a mile so you talking about twenty-five to thirty furlongs at most they rode about about 3.75 miles three and three-quarter miles almost four miles they rowed out and then the midst of them rolling out there was a great great voice Turris wind on the sea and you know they the wind was contentious that day and they you know they got got a little fray because not only were they dealing with the wind but what they see here is Christ walking on the water here it says then they see Jesus walking in the sea and drawing near unto the ship and they were afraid they thought it was a ghost but he said until they thought it was a spirit he said unto them it is I be not afraid then they willingly received him until the ship and immediately the ship was at the land whether they went now I love the book of John and I believe that the Lord has led us to to begin teaching here and then you know moving around in the scriptures now in saying that I want you to get a clear understanding of what went down you know with the walking of the walking on the water here and and therefore I asked you if you would turn with me to Matthew the 14th chapter because Matthew actually surmises the events to where I think that they would be a festive to your spirits here so if you would allow me hold your places here in the book of John keep your places there and then I want you to turn with me let me get my book marker here I want you to turn with me here to Matthew the 14th chapter beginning at verse 23 amen Matthew 14 starting at verse 23 and and again the reason why we're doing this is because I believe even though this make mention of what was going on but there is still a lot that's not being mentioned that I believe we can use as tools in our spiritual development sake my man so Matt through 14th 14th chapter starting on verse 22 of you will and straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into the ship and to go before him unto the other side while he sent away the multitude or why he sent the multitudes away and when he had sent the multitudes away he went up into the mountain apart to pray and when evening was come he was there alone but the ship was now in the midst of the sea tossed with waves for the wind was contrary or the wind was contentious the wind was violent and in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them walking on the sea and when the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were troubled saying it is the spirit and they cried out for fear and I mean come on you haven't seen anything like this before not only are you dealing with how rough the the sea is now the waves beaten but beating on the ship the winds trying to turn the vessel over not only are you handling that but then lo and behold now this is that night time okay and Jesus is walking so you know not only is he walking he had to be glistening he had to be radiant walking and on the seat like this and so they're seeing what appears to be in their minds they don't know what to call it but a spirit so verse 26 and when the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were trouble saying it is the spirit and he cried out for fear but straightway Jesus spoke unto them saying be of good cheer it is I be not afraid and Peter too answered them and said lord if it be thou bid me to come on come on to the water and he said come and when Peter was come down off the ship he walked on till the water to go to Jesus but when he saw the wind boisterous he was afraid and beginning to sink he cried saying lord save me and immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand and called him and said unto Him o thou of little faith wherefore did is died out and when they were coming to the sea the wind ceased then they that were in the ship came and worshiped him saying of a truth that thou art the Son of God now the reason why I want to see as you can see that gives more that that surmise is more the events that led up to this and don't call it as it is a miracle I mean you got you got Peter number one you got Jesus walking on the water and then number two you got Peter being able to walk on the water now first thing I want to illustrate here is I believe the enemy try to send those winds to take out not only the disciples of Jesus but to take Jesus out himself you know but Jesus is in control and as Jesus is walking on the water and and his disciples see him I would probably be the same way you know bit me to come on the water and Jesus said bring it on you know and his faith you can see you know the the very fact that you could take the first step and end up getting on to the water that is a testament of Peters faith but Peter began to look at the elements going on around him how boisterous the wind was that that caused him to fear all of a sudden the faith that he got that had was replaced by fear if he had no faith he wouldn't have been able to get into water in the first place but remember it says that not only you know it gets on the water he looks around and he takes inventory of the strength of the wind that's coming at him and he begins to be so afraid and it begins to sink okay and then Christ reaches form how many times do we look at a situation nowadays things that are going through our lives and I'm not trying to preach to you I'm just trying to illustrate some things to you I'm quite sure you heard this in messages before that winds are coming through trying to tear your life up and what Christ I believe was trying to illustrate here was for that we have the faith we have the strength through our faith through Jesus to conquer our storms they may come we didn't Christ didn't make the wind stop in this sense what he did was he was showing the disciples how to handle the wind you know in the midst of the winds these winds can't cause you to do nothing that you don't want to do I don't care how bad the winds are coming at you use this to your advantage you get out here and you use your faith to walk on this water and it wasn't the winds that caused Peter to sink it was his fear of what he surmised what he began to rationalize in the natural Peter was moving through the spirit until he began to start moving through his flesh and in your flesh what you have is fear and your spirit you have faith this Peter began to move by faith onto the water and he began to accomplish it remember the scripture said that when he took inventory of the wind he began to sink which mean he was already walking on the water so I want to share that with you Christ wanted to share that with you that's why it's written in here Peter was able to go out and stand up to the wind on own natural elements he's standing on top of it through his faith and the only way that it began to overcome him as he began to fear if you want to be an overcomer and I'm not just I'm not this this is not cliched this thing is real you want to be an overcomer you got to get this faint you got that a mustard seed of faith is what it takes okay and this these words here there this is your faith get this into your heart and you meditate on this I don't care if it's just a mustard seed of faith that is enough faith to stand up to whatever the devil would try to do I believe the devil trying to take out the disciples and Christ and he stood up to it you know but he began to sink when he took inventory of how wild the winds were so I wanted to make sure that the book of John is fantastic but we wanted to make sure that we went back and cover exactly what was going on and how significant that is for us today amen back to the book of John verse 22 the following is said the day following when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other both they're saved that one we're unto his disciples were entered and Jesus went out with the disciples into the boat but that the disciples were going away alone how via there came other boats from Tiberias near unto the place where they did eat the bread after that the Lord had given thanks when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there neither his disciples they all took shipping and came to Capernaum seeking Jesus and when they had found him on the other side they said I take him rabbi wins whence cometh our which cometh thou hither so basically what they're saying is they knew that Jesus didn't go out with the disciples and there was no other boats there and so later on the next day when they look and see you know they see that they see Jesus over there they're like wait a minute how did you get here we didn't see you go out with your disciples because remember they took some boats and they went to the other side and they like they don't understand what Jesus got there jesus answered them saying verily verily or truly truly I say unto you you seek me not because you saw the miracles but because you did eat of the loaves and you were filled laborer not for the meat which perisheth but for the meat which endureth unto everlasting life which the Son of man shall give unto you for him have God the Father sealed that is major and let me set this up I don't want nobody to think that I'm knocking prosperity churches I just want to set this up here Jesus you know God's do says seek ye first the kingdom of God and all of this righteousness the donal things shall be added on to you and we we are able to receive I mean you pay your tithes the Lord gives he gives you exceedingly abundantly and abundantly above all that we can access and think and but what happens is we begin to labor for that we begin to follow Christ because of what we've seen that he was able to do are you pay your tithe efficiently and faithfully you give to the Ministry faithful and you do what they want but you're doing this because of what you are able to get out of it and and it it drives you to keep doing it you know you need a new car let me pay more on my tides you know let me go let me go give to somebody because I want a new house I want a new car you know and these are the material things and Christ is saying that those are the things that come natural just like he fed the people there and it was more than enough and you can best believe just like the water to wine how it was more than enough and how it was good you know that this was good too and it was more than enough and what's what he's saying here is people were put into the ministry when people would put into the church they were put into Christ because they already seen what they were able to get out of it they are labouring for the wrong thing he says you need to be laboring for eternal life you know more you there are people out there right now that will give 500 or a thousand dollars to a church but if they see somebody on the street they won't even give five dollars to you know and that's not the things that we labor for you know you want to make sure that you you know as Christ is saying here you give to those that can't give back to you hoping for hoping that they don't give get your money back to you because you won't God to have you if they give you money back then you just got your reward from them but if they don't give the back you got your reward from God these are the things that Christ is saying that we shall labor for but people don't do that nowadays because they know how powerful that is that that ministry and that the Word of God is they know how powerful that the Word of God is that it give and it should be given unto you and that does this how that is but Christ is saying that even though you know how the system of God works labor not for those material things labor for eternal life so I wanted to make sure that debt that we that this was expounded upon because this is said it's serious for him to have this in here for us verse 28 then said they unto him what shall we do that we might work the works of God or what should we do that we may believe what is it what is going to take it said jesus answered and said unto them this is the work of God that ye believe on Him whom he has sent they therefore said unto Him what sign show us out then that we may see and believe thee what doest thou work now wait a minute do you remember in the fourth chapter of the book of John's the Gospel of John here where the Samaritan lady remember when he ministered to her no signs of wonders he just ministered to her he was able to to look into our life and tell her some of the things that she had done wrong and and you know he just spoke to her and then she witnessed she went to go be a witness and to her people and brought her people back and they gathered around Christ Jesus and he began to minister to them and they testified even to the lady and said not just because of your worries but because we had a chance to hear him ourselves we believe that this is truly the Messiah those were Gentiles that means that those were they were not the chew there were not the chosen of Jews or the Hebrews those were Gentiles that means anybody that is not of the Jews are considered Gentile now in saying that here he just fed over 5,000 we're talking just 5,000 men alone not even counting the men of his own disciples just the 5000 men not even including and women and children that's not miracle enough they said if you want us to believe what signs are you going to show us remember he the reason why they didn't they couldn't get this because they were following him for the wrong reason they just wanted to eat and you can see by their statement here what you know what they're saying you know where they are as far as the belief in Christ it's not there they just wanted a meal and man verse where we had here Oh verse 31 our fathers did eat manna this is them talking i father's dating men in the desert as it is written he gave them bread from heaven to eat then jesus said unto them truly truly I say unto you Moses gave you not that bread from heaven but my father giving you the true bread from heaven for the bread of God is of he which cometh down from heaven and give his life unto the world basically Christ is saying that he is the bread of God then said unto Him then they said unto Him Lord even more give us evermore give us this bread and Jesus said unto them I am the bread of life he that cometh to me shall never hunger and he that believeth on me shall never thirst but I said unto you that that ye also have seen me and believe not all that the father giveth me shall come to me and him that cometh to me I will up at the last day and 41 the Jews then murmured at him because he said I am the bread which came down from heaven verse 42 and they said and they said is not this Jesus the son of Joseph who father major because what he was saying is the reason why y'all not receiving is I don't care who y'all y'all claim that y'all children of Abraham y'all claim that your children and Moses whatever I don't care what y'all saying but just because you fall upon the dost you know you claim that they're your fathers or what-have-you you don't have my father in you and if you don't have basically it goes back to the beginning that what Jesus was saying before if you don't accept the son you can't accept the father and vice versa if you didn't accept the father you can't accept the son so they're what Jesus was saying here is this the only way my father would have given you to me is if you had accepted my dad if you've accepted my dad then he would have easily handed you over to me and you would be receiving this word rather than receiving a meal that meal that you just had is called perish but this with us it won't perish that's what he's saying here now verse 46 not that any man have seen the father save he which is of God he has seen the father Jesus speaking of herself verily verily I say unto you he that believeth on me hath everlasting life and he keeps saying it again you keep trying to try to get them because he doesn't want to be responsible for losing nobody so he keeps trying to emphasize the gift that he's given him is this eternal life he keeps trying to draw them but they just don't want to get it here verse 48 I am the bread of life your father's did eat manna in the wilderness and are dead those things that you're laboring for those things that you are holding on to you keep talking about how your father's ate manna dumb cats dead right now however you take this bread in you're going to see them again because you're going to have everlasting life I'm going to be a tree I'm gonna be a life the bread of life not tree of life the bread of life for you that you take this in you won't have to worry you'll have everlasting life and this is the bread which coming down from heaven that a man may eat thereof and not die I am The Living bread which came down from heaven If any man eat of this bread he shall live forever and the bread that I will give is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world know what the Jews therefore strove amongst themselves saying how can this man give us his skin his flesh to eat look can you imagine that somebody telling you hey you know not now you got to take him seriously because of the miracles that they've already done the things that they've already been able to show you remember the same people that he's talking to not only did they see this the two loaves that the five fish - two loaves of two Lowe's five fish not only did they see that get expanded to where everybody had a chance to eat but remember they were already mad because the the guy that had the infirmity for the infirmity for 38 years he was healed so not only are you seeing healing but you're also seeing massive eating feedings okay and now all of a sudden he's sand on that you can have this everlasting life but you don't the only way you can get this is that you have to eat my flesh and drink blood and they can't get down with it but the reason why they kicking down with it is because they never look cept at the father so because they never accepted the father truly that they've never accepted the father then it's hard for them to discern what the son is saying had they have accepted the father they would have been able to discern what the son was saying it and then wholly and truly accepted him the only ones that they had accept it was Moses and they really haven't accept that Moses all they accept that was the law that was given to them by Moses that's all they accepted they were hard-hearted they were stiff Nick and hard hearted people okay 40:53 brothers then jesus said unto them verily verily I say unto you except you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you will have no life and you who serve a eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life and I will raise them up at the last day he keeps saying that that this gift he keeps reiterating a gift and rightfully so because he don't want to be responsible for losing nobody for my flesh is meat indeed and my blood is drink indeed he that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood dwelleth in me and I in him and this is how we look at communion today those of you that that do take communion we take the the wafer and then we take the wine and we do it in remembrance of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we look at that as being his body and his blood but the other the other importance there is he's talking about something that's going to sustain them spiritually they're looking at the natural food that they had and he's telling them that you you're laboring off the wrong thing and you keep talking about what what you were giving back in what your forefathers were giving your for easy y'all looking at the wrong thing y'all looking at the natural food that and that natural food didn't help them they died but I'm trying to give you this spiritual food that you may live that you may prosper now and live forever and that's what he's trying to convey to them but they're not getting it 59 these things said he and the synagogue as he taught in Capernaum many therefore of his disciples when they heard these when they heard these things said they said unto themselves that this is a hard saying who can hear it when Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it he said unto them do this offend you now the word disciples here beings students you know that's us all students at this particular juncture this is just students here when it is when Jesus knew that the moment he said that do dis offend you verse 62 what and if you shall see the Son of Man ascend up where he was before is that is it gonna take that to - you know is it gonna take that to make you believe you know because you won't get what I'm telling you do you have to see me as send it up but by then it might be too late for you why don't you get me while I may yet be found 63 it is the spirit that quickeneth all restored the flesh profiteth nothing the words that I speak and that's what he's again this is what we're saying that he's trying to convey they're laboring and to fulfill the natural man which is there you know they keep talking about how they father's ain't man is back in the day and they following him for that fish that they just got because they ate him with field but as he's saying the flesh profiteth nothing he said the words that I speak unto you they are spirit and they are life now does another scripture reference notice what he said he means this literally that the words that he speak there are actual spirits coming out trying to minister to them their spirit and they are life and they not they're not receiving it I wanna I wanted us to go to another scriptural reference here and we're about to wrap this up here but go with me if you will to proverbs 18:21 i'm just want to re-emphasize on what christ jesus said here that the words that i speak their spirit and they are life so hold your places here and I know you moving around today but a lot of this is just to make sure that you have a clear picture of what Christ is saying here so proverbs 18 and 21 and watch this proverbs 18 and 21 look at what this says here death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit of it so that scripture speaks for itself that spirit their spirit in life it says death and life are in the pond so your tongue has the power which is the spirit that's released from your mouth when you talk this is why your kids if you think about it if you have kids if you're always downing them you'll never amount to nothing you're no good in school you're lazy you don't do what you supposed to do you won't an out you won't amount to nothing there is a spirit that's going out and ministering to them in the wrong way and and and it stays with them it's like a spirit that's abiding with them and so they begin to grow through life they begin to go through the childhood they begin to go through this life and it begins to manifest because now they're not living based off the faith the living based off the fear nothing good comes out of that that spirit that you just released out of your mouth is destroying their future their present lives and their future however the opposite you know you you you're great kid you are blessed out to have yes my son or my daughter you're very good you know you're beautiful you know I know your grades I know you can do better you know I see the best in you you keep up the good work imagine what that spirit is doing now it's edifying them and as it begins to edify them it begins to build up rather than to tear down it begins to build up prosperous things in their lives because of that spirit that's released abides with them amen it says death and life are in the power of the tongue and those that lover will eat the fruit of it you know you begin to see how you control this thing you begin to see that you're building up a tearing down with your with your tongue and you begin to get good at it that's why it talks about you eat the fruit of you get good at it and you use it to your advantage or disadvantage amen so when Jesus says here that the words that I speak they are spirit and they are life he's trying to get them you know this not only is this eternal life you know despair that is the words of the Spirit is going out to whoever will will receive this spirit and come on to me I can't make y'all come but the Spirit is still ministering to you to see if you would come and it's going to go out and accomplish just like what it's doing now the Spirit of my mouth from the Word of God is going to come out and it's going to touch somebody's heart that may be listening to this amen let's get to the end of this and then we'll get a chance to open up the gates to the kingdom of heaven 64 but there are some of you that believe not but jesus knew from the beginning who they were that would that believe not and who should betray him and verse 65 and he said therefore say I unto you that no man could come unto me except it were given unto him by the father verse 66 from the time many of his disciples went back and walked from that time minha disciples went back and walked no more with them it was it was too harmful but they were not meant to be with him in the first place they had not God within them and if you don't honor God and came out of the Sun and God never gave them to Christ Jesus then they couldn't come in the first place you know that says how that is and it's hard but it is what it is verse 67 this said Jesus unto the twelve will ye go away also or will you also go away then Simon Peter answered and you answered him Lord to whom shall we go thou hast the words of eternal life now they just got done listening to this man told him I eat my bull eat my flesh treat my blood but they understood the bare bones of that they understood that what he was talking about was eternal life Peter just declared he has an understanding heart of what Christ was saying he called an eternal life amen and watch what Jesus said and we believe and are sure that thou are that Christ the Son of the Living God jesus answered them have I not chosen you twelve and one of you was the devil well he's talking about Judas was going to betray him later those of you that knows your but his only Sunday only begotten Son that he would send his son to you to come down to this earth knowing that people would not accept them and that they would brutalize him but that he would let them do it so that you may live he may let them take his life that he may give you life that's how much he loves you so he's asking to marry you he's asking to - to put a ring around not only your finger but your little height because he loves you just that much and this is not cliche this is real he sees the best in you you may not see the best in yourself you may keep judging yourself for things that you've done yesterday or even things that you've done today and you may think that you're not worthy to take this walk with him hold what my brothers and my sisters if you're conflicted within yourself if you're saying that you're not worthy you know that you are the devil wants you to believe that you're not strong enough to take this walk with him but see the devil knows that in Christ is all good things and strength all you have to do is agree he walks for you he becomes the strength of your laid he becomes the beat of your heart he becomes the petition within your prayer he be he becomes the joy that wipes your tears he becomes that hope in the midst of sorrows and the midst of disappointment he becomes everything that she's been looking the more because he loves you he loves you that much and the father had already given you to him but he can't snatch you up even though he chose you he can't force you to come all he can do was put his hand out because he's asking to marry now when you hear that if you ever been to a wedding and the the man of God is saying is there anyone here that's that see fit that these two should not be wedded guess what you got the enemy standing up right now that's saying wait a minute stop this because he wants to keep going back in accusing he wants to accuse God God ain't trying to hear him Jesus ain't trying to hear him right now so he's going to you and saying he's trying to plead his case to you look don't do this the devil is telling you don't do this I'll make this right I don't make that right just don't don't do this and what he's trying to make right is only temporary just so that he can try to keep you from going to try to keep you from going to the side of love this side over here is lust this side over here is love this is God this is Jesus this side over here is faith this side over here is fear this side is man if I don't you know I got to give this up in order to have this I gotta have that this side over here is fear if I don't conform to this I can't keep this I can't keep my husband I can't keep my wife I need to go do it this side over here is the walls of the day but over here it's life you got to decide where you're gonna choose you're either gonna choose death but you're gonna choose life he's asking to marry him now you just said I do okay let's just say you said I do so you say how do I make this thing complete this is what you do it takes the faith to believe in your heart that he is the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God and it takes the confession from your mouth because you know when somebody is asking to marry you if a husband is asking the the bride to marry she has to confess to say I do so this is how you say I do this is how you say it you say god I come to you just as I come and I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the son of God and I believe that you sent him to and that he was crucified that he gave his life and was resurrected on the third day after his death and now has ascended up to God and is on your right side God that I may have life eternal I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God if you said that oh also let him know accept me as I am I'll come to you as I am I want Jesus to come into my life yo heart in my heart you'll love within me and your will within me it's official Amen Saints he loves you that much now don't stop there cuz praise God if you've accepted that if you've said that if you surrender cuz that's what we did in the end will you confessed and you surrendered amen you're giving him an opportunity not only to accept you to come into but you're giving him an opportunity to take control of your heart and your life they clean out those things that do not belong and I praise God now one more thing you have to be baptized this is the actual you're engaged now it comes to ceremony and you hear me talk about this weekly you he takes you you call a man of God I don't care if it's out of the church you know go to a church you can call a man of God and tell them you need to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and not that sprinkle stuff okay you this because this is why we say not sprinkled the wedding ceremony is this being baptized for the remission of sins you get put down into the water you submerged and that's because you go down like you're going into the grave and that you're coming up you're being resurrected as a new man because you're about to come into a new life so the old life has got to be put away this is what the this is what the the baptism does it's the baptism of remission of sins the old man goes down into the grave which is the water here and the new man comes up and that's what happens when you're married you begin to take on a new name amen it was the same
