Gorgeous Furniture Transformation // Furniture Makeover // FB Marketplace Furniture Flip

hey everyone welcome back it's dean and andrea and today we have a huge dresser transformation but before we get there we have several really exciting things to share so the first really crazy thing to share is that at the beginning of last week diy wife was actually selected as youtube's creator on the rise for a day so crazy so crazy which means that this channel was put right at the top of the trending page along with videos like mr beast and these other huge videos with millions of views and then three videos down was diy wife so thank you to all of you who have been watching and liking and sharing and commenting because really it's thanks to you guys and i'm sure that is what helped the algorithm or whatever however it works to actually get selected for that creator on the rise but is really dramatic i'm calling it the ugly duckling because of where it came from and where it went to and we're gonna be showing a little bit of footage from our 13th anniversary trip that we took to the texas hill country so let's dive in [Music] i picked this piece up on facebook marketplace for fifty dollars and i could definitely see some potential in it but it was in some really rough shape it needed a lot of repairs so i definitely have my work cut out for me with this one the dresser also came with these psychedelic drawer liners and i tried to get andrew to keep him but in the end we just tossed them [Music] i started by taking everything apart just to get a better look at it and started the cleaning process and after pulling a few of the drawers out i found this oh my gosh what is that [Music] what [Music] after vacuuming i started wiping down these detailed areas but honestly they ended up being so dirty and dusty that i moved them inside to use our sink sprayer and that worked much better [Music] next i did a scuff sand over the entire piece and then i ended up sanding all of the drawers just because they were so dirty and so stained and then made some just basic repairs on the drawers and sanded down the tight spots that were making it hard to open [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so when it came time for primer i decided to use the spray paint version of the primer that i like to use so that i could get a nice even coverage on all these detailed areas [Music] [Music] [Music] i knew i wanted to add a custom base to this but first i needed to remove part of the old base and so i used my rip cut guide with my circular saw to do that [Music] i built a custom wood base for this piece and i wanted to get a really light color on the wood that would tie in with the hardware i chose so i used a custom mix of watered-down acrylic paint with a touch of green to cancel out the red in the red oak [Music] after a light sanding and another wipe down i got ready to paint [Music] i went with a really creamy off-white color for this piece and i used my spray gun to apply two solid coats [Music] [Applause] [Music] uh [Music] [Music] i finished the piece off with two coats of my favorite polycrylic and a matte finish [Music] box [Music] after we finished painting we put the piece up and took the rest of the week off to celebrate our 13th anniversary cheers to 13 years yeah this is how big kids celebrate in style we went to the texas hill country and spent four days enjoying hiking kayaking and swimming [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] we even got to try wake surfing for the first time and andrea was pretty dang good at it baby come on baby yeah come on come on after wrapping up our trip it was time to finish this piece and i started by attaching a custom wood base [Music] [Music] for the hardware i went with these really unique rattan knobs and the color tied in perfectly with the wood base [Music] [Music] after everything was assembled it was time to stage and list this piece [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so wow obviously this thing underwent a massive transformation it could have been like on extreme makeover back in the day and so i love the way it turned out i don't know what your thoughts are on it yeah i had a lot of vision going into this one on the front end and i think i just really love a good dramatic transformation and finding a piece of trash that literally nobody else wants this guy had been trying to sell this dresser for weeks and weeks and we finally snatched it up and i was like this is going to be good and i love how it turned out all right so now let's talk about the numbers on this piece again we bought this piece off the facebook marketplace for fifty dollars and then between the base the new paint the hardware we put about 90 into it we sold it for 450 giving us a profit of 310 and for the first time we did a delivery here locally it was only about 10 minutes away we charged 50 and we have some clips of that right here [Music] hey we don't have a pro set up for the camera haven't got that bar yet game time baby [Music] hey it was super easy hey flipping furniture moving virgin furniture is so easy easy money easy money quick we don't work hard at all but we sold it we got it done delivered all right so finally let's talk about how many hours you put into this piece and what you made if we were to break it down by hour this piece took me about six hours and that includes the finding on facebook marketplace all the way through the staging and the listing it so if we break down that profit for six hours that's just over 50 an hour if i'm giving myself an hourly pay and then of course there's the 50 delivery fee which it's kind of tricky to figure out what your cost on driving 10 minutes there 10 minutes back so small amount of gas small amount of wear and tear on the car call it what you want took us about 30 minutes and we made 50 so
