YES!!! Hope everybody jumps into the ring. The faster we get to the singularity, the better.
I think it's now clear that ChatGPT was the first shot. And it was louder than anyone expected. Now, the tech industry and researchers at every level are jumping into the ring. They have to know on some levels that whoever develops the best AI won't just win the war. They'll secure their place in an emerging market that could be worth trillions. It's hard to overstate just how big the stakes are. It's just a matter of whether or not these AI products can be properly controlled.
ColdFusion does a video, I watch.
Began, the AI Wars have.
thats the problem when you control 90+ % of the market. any eye balls that decide they would like to spend time with Cgpt or another platform is one less eye ball for the google machine. If they knock it out of the park and produce something mind blowing they will keep their monopoly position but there is no 150% market share. so they just have to blow us away just to stand still from a business angle. Where every single customer that Cgpt captures is a customer they didn't have yesterday and they are experiencing exponential growth. Google will survive but they will not have the monopoly position they have today. end of story
Google definitely dropped the ball. They had tech similar to this in early 2016 when their CEO showed some of it at a conference. And for almost half a decade they released NOTHING to show for it (in terms of products) that utilize AI due to ethics.
good the more AI bots are out there the lower the outrage impact will be when redteaming jurnos work their socks off getting them to say bad words.
it will just become background noise akin to the absolute shocker that when you do an image search for shit it shows you shit. (no shit.)
What's worth more, an employee deliberately getting the companies AI chat bot to say racial slurs so they can be annoyed or the 10X increase in performance of all the rest of the workers that are using it sensibly to help do their work.
I'm sure I'll get down-voted for this, or even have my post removed for being contrarian, but I really hate how everybody keeps calling it a 'war' or 'race' now... I get it, and I get why people want to accelerate this, but if you rush these things then you're almost guaranteeing a bad scenario. Putting market pressures on these companies so that they release more and more quicker without thorough testing, and then setting that as the default mode of operation for other companies is a really bad idea. I'm not even talking a Terminator situation here, but there are a number of potential consequences. I know that sounds like it's contrary to the singularity itself, but it's not. Acceleration will happen, but if it happens prematurely then we might not even reach a singularity. AI and AGI will need some time for both safety testing, and for public adoption, and that's not something to carelessly accelerate. But the more and more people that say stuff like 'the race is on' or 'the competition is heating up' are just driving capitalism, not progress.
In the worst case, Google would fail which would mean that Microsoft won for now. In the best case, they will produce something far superior to ChatGPT. But I think that the most likely outcome is something in the middle. Obviously I hope that Google will manage to throw images or more in the mix. It's okay for the bot to produce only text, but it would be better to get charts and diagrams too.
There is no trillion dollar market, it will be the only market. It's over. This is what new ages referred to as the electric wars of the 2nd creation era.
