GOOD CAUSE for CCW in California - HOW TO and TIPS

so you want to get a concealed carry permit but you're confused about what good cause is and how to determine what you need to determine that you have good cause with your County today we're going to talk about that I'm gonna give you some resources so that you can determine whether your cause is good based on what county you live in gonna leave some relevant time stamps down in the description so that you can jump to certain points not all of this video is gonna be relevant to everyone but many points throughout it will be relevant to you all so if you want to see where I'm talking about what check the description check the first comment you'll see where I list everything depending on what county you're in and when we get down to it you'll understand why depending on what county you're in will depend what kind of good cause you meet in some counties you basically need to be a senator or a congressman need to be given the share if you know a dry tugger every once in a while donating to their funds in some counties it's difficult but in some counties it's very easy self defense Second Amendment right they see that as good cause it all depends on who your Sheriff is at the time so this information might change within the next year or so depending on if your sheriff's are being reelected now the reason it's gonna vary by county the sheriff is an elected official so depending on the constituents the people that are voting the people that are talking to the sheriff during the election times depending on what those people are saying and what those outreach groups are telling them that will determine their policies we saw this time in Sonoma County with you know Sheriff mark ESSEC he was a very well qualified candidate and he ran and one of the things that he said was that he was gonna be working on issuing more concealed carry permits because previously Sonoma County was a red county it was basically just do not apply we will not issue it fortunately with esic taking over it's gotten a lot easier because he understands that people might need to protect themselves and that's something that I agree with and it's something that people were very outspoken about so when it comes time to collecting a sheriff in your County be outspoken let them know where you stand let them know that you vote based on the second amendment rights that you feel you need so you can do something about it but my take some time so the sheriff that you live under you're gonna have to see what their policy is so what I'm actually going to show you now as you see on the screen here is a map based on the requirements that that county lists for good cause some of these counties you'll see virtually no issue exceptionally good cause heightened good cause moderate good cause and then the dark green you'll see that that's actually self defense minimum good cause easy to get now these big counties Santa Barbara Los Angeles Imperial Santa Clara Santa Cruz San Mateo Alameda San Francisco and Marin those counties you're basically not gonna get a concealed carry permit I say basically because maybe you're an elected official maybe you're a senator or congressman maybe you're a major contributor to the Sheriff's fund maybe you're the biggest business owner in the city you might be able to get one for most people and the people watching these videos you're probably not gonna be able to get one but the things that typically can be considered good cause in those counties can be carrying large sums of cash that would be unreasonable to have a security contractor transport for you so like those on guard or whatever it is the money contractor it's not always gonna be possible or physically feasible for you to have them transport it that can sometimes be good cause if you work in an industry that requires you to carry extremely valuable items on you in rural areas or areas with bad response times that can sometimes be considered good cause if you have death threats against you that are unavoidable and very highly documented that can also be considered good cause but it's not gonna be very easy now if we move over to the weirder area of this the yellow the heightened good cause we're talking San Luis Obispo Contra Costa Yolo County and some of these lighter green can also be lumped in there these are the counties where if you have a legitimate need and I'm not talking about second-ever rights I feel like everyone that's legally allowed to own a gun should be able to conceal carry or open carry however they choose but that's just not the way it is these counties you have to be able to articulate specifically why it is that you need to carry a gun those same reasons that I listed before are usually they're pretty much the same reasons but they're a little bit more lenient you might not need to be the most wealthy business owner in the county you can just be one of them or maybe you want a corner store that deals with a lot of cash some people might still be able to get it but it's still gonna be very difficult moving on to the moderate good cause so Sonoma County where I live is an excellent example of moderate good cause I checked him the forms checked what people were saying checked what Isaac ran on esic is the sheriff under that we live under what they were saying was that if you had a good way to articulate what you wanted to do or what you needed it for you could get it I was able to get preliminary approval for my CCW pending background checks and whatnot based on me carrying large amounts of camera gear me carrying all kinds of money when I work weddings in rural areas because sometimes these weddings I work I'm out 45 minutes from main road it's I'm not gonna be able to get a police officer out there in time to protect me and I might be carrying seven to ten grand worth of equipment on me I was able to get it for that reason and I saw a lot of other people able to get it for similar reasons and I think it's one of those things that you're gonna want to look up what your county is saying what people are saying about it and what you need to do but if you articulate well why you need it you have an excellent chance of getting it mmm the money counties we're talking these dark-green bad boys in here mmm yeah these ones self-defense and write a decent essay saying I think I needed to be able to defend myself you're getting that thing if you have good moral character no weird crimes not a bunch of duis last year you're getting it and that's awesome but a lot of people don't live in those counties like myself like people in la Santa Cruz San Francisco so congratulations you live in a great County now I'm going to show you a couple examples of each tier so Sonoma County we're considered a light green you look at the language show good cause for the issuance of a license that's pretty standard you know it's not super aggressive not super passive not super friendly but show good cause this one actually lists a few specific ways that they consider good cause there's an existing insignificant threat of rave to bodily harm and whatnot security firms duly appointed reserve deputy member of the magistrate but the biggest one for most people the applicant establishes the circumstances exist requiring him or her to transport in public significant amounts of valuable or inherently dangerous property which like I said would be impractical to have a security firm take it this is where most people are gonna fall under and it's not that difficult in Sonoma County and we look at Lake County Lake County was one of those dark green counties they're just spell your name right have a clean criminal history you're getting this and that's awesome but for a lot of the other counties it's a little bit more difficult and a little bit more questionable especially in those yellows and the bright reds you're gonna want to do some research in the best place in my mind to do that is gonna be on Cal guns kalgan's net has forums based on each specific location that you might live in so cal guns net the forums you go to the concealed carry and licensed to carry forums and then move over to the conceal carry discussion from here you can actually look up by county CCW Sonoma County and CCW Los Angeles County and whatnot and you can actually determine so let's see let's actually find one real quick so I'm looking here at the Sonoma County section so he basically just I was in the concealed carry Len license to carry and then this is a county information forum and so let's say example Santa Clara boom I'm gonna go to basically the last or maybe the second to last and you can look people talking about it it's a great place for you to actually determine what you're gonna need and how difficult it's gonna be based on the county that you live in and that's great it's great to have a place where you can talk to people ask questions go into it so I'm gonna leave a link to this in the description below and you'll be able to see what kind of it's going to take for you based on the county to get your concealed carry permit again I can't stress enough how thankful I am for all Thank you for sharing this here. This video covers the hard part of the ca ccw process. The “good cause” and how to find those resources for your county. Hope this helps out! Wish someone told me months earlier that Sonoma county was easier than it used to be.
