last tuesday of the month and also we have baptisms on the last sunday of the month if you would like to sign up to be baptized you can do that via our the ark website and if you go to next steps you'll see a section for baptisms it's very easy it takes about two seconds or maybe a minute it might take you but yeah if you've got any questions you can come and see me on a sunday and we can talk could just take their seats so we can going on so as you all know um we are encouraging people to come back to church and many people may have some anxieties um surrounding covert and everything like that so we have got a system to let you know what people are comfortable with is that okay is that okay church okay so it's pretty simple it's very similar to the traffic light system if someone doesn't have a wristband that means you can slap them hug them whatever you want to do jump on them they don't mind if they have a red wristband that means they are social distancing so please respect their space i think it's six to six meters i don't know but give two meters give them their space um no hugging um no high fiving no touching just make sure you give them the distance if someone is wearing yellow that means oh sorry red also means they don't really want to talk not in a bad way but just because naturally as you talk and if you don't have a mask you can transfer spit so essentially they're wearing red just give them a distance you want to talk to them wear your mask um but respect social distance in rules um if they're wearing yellow that means they're okay with talking um they're okay if you interact without having a mask but no touching and if they're wearing green it means they're okay with hugs they're happy with hugs does that make sense so what does red mean social distances thank you what does yellow mean just nudges you know okay with talking but no embracing and if they're wearing green it means they're okay with hugs for everyone that has taken a wristband please return them after service we are going to um sanitize them and reuse them for future services amen so i'm going to take a few minutes just to um invite the holy spirit into our service this isn't a an event it's not something you've come to attend it's an experience we've come to experience god here and to be encouraged um as a community as brothers and sisters in christ so if you could please just stand up it's not me praying for you we are all praying together inviting god into our hearts opening up our minds letting go of all our worries during the week and just really allowing ourselves to be vulnerable to him amen so in this time just pray to him pray to him say thank you for the breath he gave you this morning thank him for the fact that you are able thank you for the fact you were able to arrive in church you weren't fearing persecution you'd have to hide your bible or tell lie about where you were going this morning you are free to worship you are free together amen so please just worship in this time pray to him thank him adore him because he is great his ways are greater than our ways he is amazing he is a good good father he is reliable he is faithful he is rich in mercy we just love you jesus we love you for what you did on the cross for us even though we are not worthy even though sometimes you may not even be grateful just thank you for your sacrifice we thank you that you love us the same even though we sin continuously maybe this morning we even sinned but lord you still love us lord you still please please pray to him at this time i'm not praying for you pray to your god pray to your abba father you have your own personal relationship with him so right now speak to him you don't know what to say sing to him you don't know how to sing clap your hands in worship but please use this time to communicate and thank him for this day not everyone got to see this morning you are a lucky few you are a blessed minority there are many people that didn't wake up this morning not because you are better than them not because you have offered mooring tithing but god has shown mercy on you undeserved mercy undeserved grace so let's just take this time to worship and say thank you lord thank you father thank you for who you are not just what you are doing but because of who you are because you are king of kings you are lord of lords you are abba father you are the lion of judah we just worship you lord we just exhaust your holy name hallelujah hallelujah amen if the worship team could come up we could begin the service i walking around and they're expressing their praise expressing what they're going through right now it might not be familiar to you but we're a radical church and we do things differently and we want to be led by the spirit of god and i just want to say that if as jordan was speaking in tongues if anybody has a interpretation of those tongues then please come and share as well thank you worship just says there's going to be an outpouring because our souls has to be cleansed it's going to be a cleanse never like before because we got to go to battle but our housing is not right our housing is not right we can't go to fight unless our souls are cleansed so get ready for the outpouring the liquid lights of streams that will penetrate you in the midnight hour in the early mornings but the lord god almighty says i am cleansing open up your hearts and your soul into jesus name i pray amen hallelujah um [Music] just feeling that the lord is saying you've held yourself up for so long during the pandemic with all of your scaffolding and all of your chains and i'm feeling the frustration of the lord and his pain and he's just saying today would you just let me break all your scaffolding would you let me break all of your chains would you let me break everything that you've used to hold yourself up would you just allow me to lead you would you just allow me to lead you because i want to break you today not for your hurt but for your good so all the ways that we have all our coping mechanisms everything that we're doing the lord is saying he wants to break it today so let the lord lead just submit to the leading of the holy spirit because he wants to break everything all of us set up all of our get up he wants to break it just allow him to move to breathe so that he can break it all so that he rely totally and holy only on him amen can we just lift our hands up and surrender on those two words that we received and please raise your voice and say to the lord you are waiting for him to break it you are making yourself available you are saying lord take it take it he says in his word that all those who are heavy laden come to him and he will give you rest so if you want rest raise your hands up this morning lift up your voice and says lord i want rest i want rest of my heavy burdens amen praise your god praise your god ask him petition him i can't do it on your behalf you know your issues you know your burdens so lift up your hands and ask him to come into your life come and come into your heart come into your mind give you peace of mind to give you peace in all your aspects in jesus name amen amen amen and the first word that we received i'm gonna count three two one and i wanna hear a war cry are we ready are we ready i'm gonna say take your seats guys welcome welcome welcome everyone good morning to the ark forest skates welcome to those online too we welcome you all um as i said earlier it is my first time here i'm extremely nervous but i've seen all your friendly faces thank you i've seen all your friendly faces so i do feel better in jesus name just on the topic of just being anxious [Music] i went back to work this week and i had a mixture of emotions i couldn't tell you why exactly it could be a mix of things it could be the fact that i actually have to bath before i start work um it could be the fact that i'm not looking forward to being squashed on the train and people's bad breath all over me and stuff like that but ultimately what i do know is that i was really struggling with understanding why i had to go to work when the past 18 months i'd proven to myself and to my work colleagues that i could stay at home and still get the job done similarly my sister went back to uni on tuesday and although she didn't have the same anxiety that i had she was also frustrated because she really wanted to save her student loan to buy like a car or something wisdom right um because who knows uni life is hard like it's not easy who's ever had cereal for breakfast lunch and dinner at uni just me yeah no it's not easy i remember one time she told us that she cooked spaghetti and bolognese for the whole week and i was like yeah that's great wisdoms you don't have to buy takeaway she said oh no only last the day i was like why so well in the morning i had spaghetti bolognese in the afternoon i had spaghetti bolognese for dinner i also had spaghetti bolognese and for a midnight snack what do you think she had no the bolognese had finished so she just had spaghetti so it's not easy uni is not easy so for her mentally she thought you know i can stay at home have all three meals different meals this time save my money buy a car but her school wanted her to come in and have lectures in person and for her she was frustrated because over the past 18 months she had proven that she could take lectures take exams from the comfort of her home essentially she could get the job done so i want to talk to those at home i understand there may be some anxieties i may i know they may not be easy to change your habits i understand that you're probably really enjoying the fact that you can have a late saturday night wake up at 10 55 put worship on even jump in the shower our worship's on maybe even have breakfast while worship's on and then when the preaching starts you can sit there from the comfort of your living room probably scrolling through instagram at the same time scrolling through your emails at the same time because essentially the past 18 months has shown you that from the comfort of your home you can still get the job done you can still attend service and hear the word but when i went to work on thursday i must say it was a blessing because i've worked with so many people online virtually on all these deals but i didn't have a relationship with them so when i went into the office i was able to meet them have a chat have casual conversations because when you're working from home you don't call someone for a casual conversation but in the office you can pop into their office have conversations learn from them be encouraged by them and hopefully in jesus name get promoted by them because they know who you are pray for me guys pray for me and similarly my sister she went for our first lecture and she found a good group of people who she's hoping that she can actually create a study group with so they can learn from each other and hopefully get better grades amen so what more you that's sitting at home right now i understand that you know you've got the job done at home i understand that you are hearing the word but i want to encourage you to be a doer of the word i want to encourage you to be a doer amen amen i want to encourage you to be a doer of acts 242 where it says they devoted themselves to fellowship i want you to be a duo of the word that says in hebrews 10 25 do not forsake the gathering of the saints i understand that you've attended service but we want you to participate in service there's so much joy in this place am i lying guys there's there's so much peace in this place so much encouragement fellowship is so so sweet i understand that we've for many years we've seen it as church service and you know we were served but we want you to be here so you can also serve be encouraged and be encouraging to others amen so we're really hoping that we'll see you next sunday as i said previously we have got things in place for those that are worried about um covet 19 still but we want you to be in this place and to experience service not just attend service amen and for those in the building for those in the building when people do come in be a lovely face to them smile encourage them if they want you to hug let's not just be a church where we say hi and say bye ask them how they are listen to what they actually have to say and let's truly be a family amen let's truly be the bloodline that keeps the church alive church isn't this building because when am i not in it it's empty and it's cold we are the lifeline of the church we are church amen amen thank you guys so at this moment we're going to call the lovely beautiful family of baby noah for a baby dedication we're so blessed that we can encourage parents to come and dedicate their children in the house of the lord they look so beautiful don't they so you want to give them a round of applause for the parents of baby now and their family and friends godmothers godfathers aunties and uncles grandparents friends of the family please come up [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Applause] so [Applause] [Music] [Music] see [Music] [Music] [Music] children wanted to come to you your disciples were trying to push them away but you said suffer the little children and let them come unto me and father we want to present baby noah to you lord god and bless her through you lord jesus christ and father we want to thank you lord jesus christ that she has eyes to see ears to hear lord god and she has hands and feet lord god she has a mouth she has a nose and we want to thank you for her life thank you lord jesus christ even at this tender age that she is alert lord god and lord god that you are developing her understanding you're developing her knowledge lord jesus christ i thank you lord jesus christ that even as her name is lord god it means that she is knowledgeable and that she will be like a sponge lord jesus christ and lord god that she will just develop and be able to grasp very quickly lord jesus christ i thank you lord jesus that even as she goes through the educational system lord god that you will be with her that you will be a shield around her lord god that you will keep her that you will prepare the nursery lord god you re you prepare the primary school the secondary school every educa every educational system lord jesus christ you will just move on her behalf lord god you will prepare her teachers that when they see her lord god that they will see an exceptional child lord jesus that she will be able to retain and restore knowledge lord god that she will excel way above her peers lord jesus christ that she will be the head and not the tale lord jesus christ that she will have confidence lord jesus in what she what she knows lord god and that she will be able to relay that knowledge lord god with great understanding father we thank you lord jesus christ that even as her parents teach her at this tender age lord god that she will just be able to take that knowledge and be able to develop into a young woman lord jesus christ and mature according to your will and your purpose for her life father god i thank you that she is like an arrow shot out lord god with purpose i thank you lord jesus christ that you already know her destination lord god i thank you lord jesus christ that she that every person that she comes into contact with lord god will know that she is a woman of integrity a woman of honor a woman lord jesus christ that holds herself hallelujah and puts god first we thank you lord god our heart is a worshipper we thank you lord jesus christ that she will have psalms lord god and that she will be able to minister your word we thank you lord god that your anointing is on her lord god in the name of jesus and father god as she goes forth and lord god as she goes through that educational system she may go on to university but she may be like her dad she might have that entrepreneurial skill lord god and we speak that over her lord jesus christ that she will lead lord god men and women that she will be a restorer of those that are hurt lord god hallelujah lord god that you would destin her life for her lord god and that she will walk according to your word father god i thank you for her life and even lord god as she grows father i pray that you will keep her from molesters that you will keep her from harm lord jesus christ that every negative word lord jesus christ will fall to the ground hallelujah but that you will keep her mind hallelujah you will keep her ears lord god and lord god that she will just be pure in heart before you and lord god when it's time hallelujah and as you've got her father and her mother around her lord jesus christ and even as she comes she may come with a young man saying or he may present himself lord god to paul hallelujah i pray lord jesus christ that paul will not raise up in his flesh but lord god i pray lord jesus christ hallelujah that it will be a man of integrity lord god a man of honor lord jesus christ and that he too will hold on to your word and paul will see through him lord god that your spirit dwells within him and when she walks down to our lord god i pray that there will not be any broken fragments lord god but that she will be whole lord god she will be whole hallelujah and we thank you lord jesus christ that you have destined in our life lord god to be virtuous lord jesus that whatever she fat whatever her hands fight to do that she will do it well lord god she will prosper in all her ways lord jesus she will lack for nothing and father god from this day and even from her mother's womb that she was blessed lord god but we thank you right now as she's come hallelujah to be presented before you that she will be blessed in everything that she does we thank you right now for her life in jesus name amen the sweats in my eyes [Music] [Music] yeah and we just anoint you noah and we confirm the name of noah leo we we confirmed the name noah leo ession over you and from this day forth you are blessed in jesus name amen amen we are just going to pray we're just going to pray for the family the extended family uncles aunts his grandparents here grandpa but we're going to pray for them anyway and we're going to pray for just the whole village and just ask tj if he could pray for you guys [Music] [Music] thank you for those that for any reason couldn't make it here today but that you have blessed to be part of this family oh lord father god lord just as she is surrounded by love by family and by friends today all the father god we pray that that will be her situation all the days of her life oh lord father god just as people have showed up for her today may they show up for her in their time of need oh lord father god may they show up for her in her time of celebration oh lord father god and may they show up for her just every day oh lord father god as a family should father lord i thank you for the parents that you have chosen for our lord father god your word said before she was in her mother's womb you knew her oh lord father god which means that you intentionally put her into this family and i thank you for her mom and i thank you for her dad oh lord father god and lord right now i just pray for for her dad i pray for poor love father god may you just raise him up as the leader in her household oh lord father god lord father god i pray that as she grows she can look onto him as an example of what a man looks like oh lord father god that when she is looking for a husband she will say i want somebody that's like my father oh lord father god for the example that he has set lord i pray and i know that he's a builder i know that he builds everything that he touches oh lord father god and i pray that he will build up her life also oh lord father god that he will continue to sow into her that he will continue to be present for her lord father god at any time that she needs that male advice that she knows i can turn to my dad lord father god i pray for shantel also lord father god as she keeps this family together as she pours out love and and holds everything together i pray that you will bless her lord father god i pray that you will just put a peace in their house that surpasses all understanding oh lord father god that all their children both know and the other child will want to be at home or lord father god that they will not grow wanting to be outside or to be at friends houses oh lord father god but that they will know there is love in my house oh lord father god and lord i pray for the whole extended family o lord father god i just ask that you will put a burden in their heart that never lacks o lord father god that they will feel a burden for noah oh lord father god not just on birthdays and christmas oh lord father god but that they will want to call her just to ask how school was oh lord father god to ask who her friends are to be involved in her life every day oh lord father god give them that burden i ask in jesus name but i thank you for this family i pray they will ever be present in jesus name we pray [Music] [Applause] [Music] amen you just clap for them as they're coming off stage such a beautiful family [Music] amen so everyone here you're all anointed ones i'm guessing do you know why i'm calling you guys anointed do you guys know i mean many people are probably not here because they couldn't get petrol like it's not easy it's as simple as that so you guys are clearly chosen god has blessed you he made sure there was provision so you could get petrol you could come here amen let's praise god for that alone amen amen so i've got a few announcements to make um like i said earlier we are aware that many people are still concerned about covid and we have pulsamic in place because we are nice and considerate we had the wristband system so just it's similar to a traffic light system if you see red what do you do stop yellow what do you do so people don't know some go some get ready i think i think it's get ready i don't know what the official thing is and then green is go go go so similarly with the wristbands if you see red that person is social distancing so all the rules we had out there in terms of the two meters wearing mask around the person not touching them that will all apply um if they're wearing a yellow wristband they're okay with conversations but no touching um so just again respect their distance them and the last one the green one means they're okay with hugs um if they're not wearing a wristband just assume that they're okay with with anything you can kick them if you want whatever you want to do in jesus name that is up to you um bible study can i get whoop whoop come on guys bible study let's be excited for the word um so we are having the last of the series this wednesday and it's at 7 30 and you can catch it for those that can't come in person because we are gathering person it will be on youtube at 7 30. and we also have worship flag dance classes led by the lovely michelle wilson so if you want to come to that um i don't know if you've got posted for that yet but maybe i'm going too fast sorry um if you want to come to that it's held on monday mornings or friday evenings but please please please speak to michelle for some more information on that now we have new members orientation so during lockdown i can imagine many people have joined ark whether virtually or in person we are so honored that you'd come and worship with us today and forevermore amen um but we have an orientation which basically just kind of explains the history about ark how we function and what we believe in so it's very very beneficial to come if you are a new member or you haven't yet had that new members orientation that will be on the 10th of october um if you have any questions please see the amazing jason upfront or the beautiful marilla up front here as well we also have a higher tech here at arc you know you can see with the fancy you know screens and stuff so we're on it so we also have a qr code um that will actually be hitting those that are on the email um list will actually be hitting your emails in three minutes then you can scan this and sign up to the new members orientation i have paper here as well that you can scan but we'll also have the qr code out front for you to scan and that way you can sign up very easily amen um the worship team can start coming up please we are now going to be preparing for offering and tithes um i think at this point everyone kind of taps out because they've heard it all right yes you want our money yes the church needs it for the building yes we give to the poor we know all of that right it's not new information but truly i want to encourage you from the scriptures because it's not pastor p saying you guys must give so the building can get bigger it's not jason saying that you must give because he wants to buy a new house it's not that at all scripture does encourage us to give um so i want to put up proverbs if the tech team could put it up for me as well please [Music] proverbs 11 verse 24 to 25 i didn't say this this is god's words yeah and so don't just take my word for it listen to what god has to say one gives freely yet grows all the richer another withholds what he should give and only suffers want whoever brings blessing will be enriched and one who waters will himself be watered that's god's economics you know the world may say differently but god's economics in his kingdom when it comes to things concerning him he says when you give you only receive and it may not come back directly and that once you give five pounds you get ten pounds it may come away in an opportunity a relationship peace of mind someone's saying don't worry about that debt is cleared who knows but when you give god promises that he will give in one way or another that is his economics so can i encourage you to give today um as a church we have free methods of giving you can give a direct bank transfer which is our preferred option um you could also give on church suite with this which is an app or link to our website and you can also give via envelopes if you like an envelope please put your hands up the ushers will be giving them out but please give not because i said but give because god promises great things in jesus name amen hallelujah hallelujah as you are given we will declare that our god is the lion of jesus because he is so once you've given if you like to stand to your feet amen amen have your hands hey [Music] [Music] [Music] every chain will break as broken hearts declare his praise who can stop the lord almighty our god is the lion the lion of judah he's roaring with power and fighting of battles every knee will bow before him our god is just want us to pray because as as we heard those um words of encouragement the lord was also saying and sensing that sometimes we put idols in our hearts that need to come down we're singing worthy is the lamb but still we have things in our heart and i just want us to take time just to be still and just pray for our hearts right now and that we just have a pure heart before god so can you just lift your voice and just put your hand on your heart and lift your voice and just ask that god will give you a tender heart thank you jesus father we just come before you right now and we just ask the lord jesus christ that you would give us a tender heart a broken and a contrite heart you will not despise lord jesus and father we just want to submit to you right now submit to you our hearts and the pleasure to introduce a young lady that's just gonna come and give us a word from god she's been with us since august 2019 she's been active in the kingdoms so she's coming from a different church but at her she is a worshipper so i just want us to give her a warm welcome a warm ark welcome and that is davina stewart if you would come and just share the word of god to us praise the lord everyone good afternoon church good afternoon can i see your hands can you just wave back at me if you're here and happy to be here god bless you as you heard my name's davina stewart i am a i feel like a new member because we've kind of been on lockdown for a long time so i'm sure many of you don't know me and if you're wondering why i'm up here i'm kind of wondering the same thing too god knows god knows why i'm here my heart really is to just worship god and so if you'll help me worship team um i will try to worship now we've been talking about the greatest help we've been talking about the holy spirit for at least a month and i don't know about you but you see this morning we kind of got a taste of what god really wants to do i don't know if you felt what i felt in worship today but i feel like god is saying yeah it's time to receive the holy spirit that we've been talking about it's time for me to really pour out it's time for me to really help you the way that i want to help you amen and so if you're feeling that this morning i want you well this afternoon now i want you to help me the song there's a lot of songs in my head so i'm kind of just you know just going with the flow i'm sure you know it the song says there is a sweet anointing in the sanctuary thank you if you know it please help me i often start things too high now you can hear from my voice i'm quite low yeah there is a sweet [Music] anointing in this sanctuary stand with me there is a stillness in the atmosphere come and lay down command lay down [Applause] the burdens you have hallelujah father the prince of peace show up in our circumstance show up in our situations god show up in our families jesus show up in our church lord show up in our community we're looking for you lord we're the church cheerleader because i just like to push i just like to push people in worship but you know there's something that god does in worship that he that doesn't happen any other time do you know like you can hear a message and you know you get bits of the preacher you get some comedy you get some background you get all kinds of stuff but when you connect to god in worship you get what god wants you to have amen and corporate worship is powerful but personal worship is even more powerful when you can take this to at home with you when you can experience this beside your bed that's real power amen and so i want to encourage us we've been going over the fact that god is our help but i want us to take this help with us you see because we often come and sing he's the undefeated champion you know how the atmosphere gets charged when we sing that undefeated champion but then on monday morning you're the christian in the corner just worship in your ears only [Music] yeah everyone knows you're a christian but you're kind of low-key and i feel like god is challenging us god is challenging us because he's our help i'm not the most confident person trust me i've been shaking all week like and telling my friends and family i just give me a little space because i'm a bit anxious i'm a bit stressed but god told me yesterday and the day before just worship me and so i'm so glad that you were happy to worship god with me this morning because in the worship god is working and i want to encourage everyone that's here today you know sometimes when you have different things to do in the house when you could be the person who's in charge of the order of service or the offering or the admin or the musician or the worship team or the tech team sometimes your mind is so consumed with the things you have to do that you can miss the god that we come to serve and so i want to encourage every single person in here today take god home with you take something from the service back home with you let it impact your family let it impact the environment in your home be determined that the same god we've experienced here in worship is the same god that wants to manifest himself to us in our private space amen amen because we don't come for performance as we heard this isn't a show it's an experience but it's an experience that's supposed to overflow it's an experience that's supposed to have an impact outside amen i'm sure the neighbors don't always appreciate the noise but i'm telling you that there is a peace of god that impacts even the homes of those that don't like the sound of the worship amen there's some people who might have been experiencing domestic violence that the spirit of god is troubling and moving and adjusting things yeah there are some children that might have been neglected in homes not far from here but our worship can impact the atmosphere it can drive away the forces of darkness that the devil wants to use to oppress people and so we won't keep silence amen but we will continue to worship god and not only worship him but to declare the truth of his word which is my assignment today yeah so i'm going to try and leave a little words with you amen even though i just i just want to worship all right so god bless you i i forget my manners greetings to um lady carys and pastor peter in his absence and so pastor jason and michelle and to everyone to tara moderating everyone god bless you all of the elders all of the ministers all of you that serve today to the worship team thank you for making it easy for me to lose my nerves today in worship every single song that you sang took me to a place and reminded me of something god told me this week so thank you even your t-shirt that says fearless is reminding me of something god said to me this week so god is a god that confirms he's a god that gives assurance yeah he does it in so many ways in so many i mean and he's so personal about it because god knows how best to feed his children if you're a mother you know what your children like what they don't like when's the best time to feed them when's the best time to do x god is so particular about every single one of us that even though we're here in a corporate setting god can drop a word for everyone at the level that you can take it he can drop it at your understanding and he can make it personal to you and so the theme that's on my heart today is simply god is yeah yeah and if i said to you who is god to you every single one of us would come up with something slightly different maybe but maybe but god is essentially according to our theme god is our help amen god is our help and i just want us to read from psalm 46 um as just a base i think we've read it a few times this month already but i'll just read it i'm reading from the king james version i'm from kind of a old school church you might have noticed i say amen a lot someone told me you say amen at the end of every line i said do i i didn't notice this is old school psalm 46 god is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble therefore will not we fear though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea though the waters thereof roar and be troubled though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof there is a river the streams whereof shall make glad the city of god the holy place of the tabernacles of the most high god is in the midst of her she shall not be moved god shall help her and that right early the heathens raged the kingdoms were moved he uttered his voice the earth melted the lord of hosts is with us the god of jacob is our refuge come behold the works of the lord what desolations he have made in the earth he maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth he breaketh the bow and cut up the spear in sunder he burneth the chariot in the fire be still and know that i am god i will be exalted among the heathen i will be exalted in the earth the lord of hosts is with us the god of jacob is our refuge amen i love the psalms i really do maybe because i'm a bit of a passionate person at heart but david has a way of just boasting in god he has a way of just bragging about god being his help the way david brags is almost like nobody else knows god like he knows god he's just like the lord is my shepherd you know i mean i shall not he's so confident in his relationship with god and i think that just that's a result of being close to god and god wants all of us to have that same confidence towards him he wants all of us to have that same reassurance and so this verse here the first three verses well first two verses god is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble it's not just the psalmist talking about himself but he actually makes it a corporate thing he says god is our refuge yeah so we recognize like i'm not the only one hiding in jesus i'm not the only one that gets anxious i'm not the only one that's sometimes fearful and wondering what's going to happen next but in verse 2 he says therefore will not we fear so there's a difference in the attitude and the behavior of someone who has god as their refuge to those that do not have god as a refuge there ought to be something significantly different about our attitude and our approach to situations to chaos to crisis yeah to petrol shortages there should be something different about us well my mom did tell me on friday to get petulant and i did go yeah but i didn't fill up my tank like other people like i saw someone with 25 liter bottles two of them going to putting them in his boot to go to the like that's just selfish then you had other people in the queue telling you to only take 10 pounds only do 10 pounds and then they come behind you and fill up the tank like all kinds of selfish behavior but it's because of the uncertainty it makes people who don't have a refuge act a certain way but i think the psalmist is saying look even if the very earth beneath you starts moving how mad is that sounds like a a movie even if the earth is being moved the place where everyone else is standing the place where everyone else's confidence is is being shaken where is your confidence at that time when everyone's being made redundant and they are just so anxious are you just as anxious as them or is god your refuge we're reminded that we have help we're reminded that we have help the psalmist also goes on to talk about the river that flows and again that brings us into new testament see that's the wonderful thing about david he's old testament but he's kind of new testament at the same time he knows that there is something that is flowing from god that feeds the people of god the river that he's talking about is talking about life he's talking about the spirit of god it makes us glad yeah there's another analogy or metaphor for the spirit is talking about new wine it talks about oil of joy it talks about different things these all are signs of the holy spirit but we know that it is god on the inside of us is feeding us yeah he's feeding us he's energizing us in ways that the world cannot understand yet so there is a source that we are tapping into jesus said i am the vine and you are the branches there's a connection that we have that we can't afford to let go of there's a source that we have that we can't afford to disconnect from because we are completely dependent on this god he is as osama said the source of our strength he is the strength of our lives and if he really is that what limit do we have what restriction is there on on you if god is the one that's working through you now i want us to really i've been challenging myself about fear this week because i believe that god gives us help to fulfill his will sometimes we want help to do what we want to do and that's sometimes when we can get into friction with god and we can think oh god i thought you were with me i'm trying to do this i'm trying to accomplish this i'm trying to build and i can't seem to get any breakthrough but actually what's the will of god actually what has god called you to do because where he's purposed you he's gonna make provision all right so let's just move over to romans chapter eight oh gosh all right actually maybe i'm jumping a bit too fast all right i wanted to talk a little bit about who this god is that we're supposed to put our confidence in so before i get to romans let me step back a little bit because maybe not everybody in here knows this god that i'm shouting about all right who is this god in genesis it said in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth so the bible doesn't leave any gray areas as to um who created whether there is a god it's all answered it there in verse 1 genesis 1 there is a god and he created he was not created he's a self-existent one everything that we see everything that we know comes from him so there's no power there's no authority there's no jurisdiction that is outside of the reach of our god our god is just everywhere everything all powerful all-knowing ever-present that's our god that's who we're talking about and the thing about god is that we can't know anything about him unless he shows it to us yeah all that we know about god is what he chooses to reveal because really we can't look up and discern or detect god he has to turn on the light and so genesis starts the first thing god says is what let there be light but he wasn't talking about the sun because he created the sun later on when he said let there be light he is beginning to reveal himself yeah let there be light see john tells us god is light and in him there is no darkness at all and so the beginning of the revelation of god is light and that's the first day god decides to let us in he decides to show himself my gosh and here we are like we're just we're moving forward and god is just god is just showing us bits and so in isaiah 43 amen it says but now thus saith the lord who created you o jacob and he who formed you are israel fear not for i have redeemed you i have called you by your name you are mine god not only chooses how he's going to reveal himself to you but he chooses and decides who we are and he looks down and he says you know what i choose you you're my child and he tells you and when god speaks to you the word of god the scripture tells us that faith comes by hearing and it comes by hearing the the word of god and so just god uttering a word towards us is supposed to inspire our faith to take action so when god says i am your help you're not supposed to be looking around and saying but i don't have you're supposed to say god where is it what are you doing you're supposed to say god look show up because he says i am amen and so we are completely dependent he names he reveals himself and he tells us who we are in him and so he says fear not i've redeemed you now you can imagine at this time when isaiah is prophesying amen i believe that the kingdoms were the kings were already divided so so israel is already a kingdom but but they're not doing so well because they keep going back into idolatry they keep serving other gods and they always want to be just like the other nations yeah and so often times god judges them and allows them to be taken into captivity and allows them to be oppressed but he does that with hope he always he might let you suffer a little bit but he does it with hope and so he says don't worry i've redeemed you i'm gonna bring you back i'm gonna restore you to what i have purposed for you and he goes on to say look you're passing through waters but i will be with you and through the rivers but they shall not overflow you when you walk through the fire not that you won't experience fire not that you won't experience some things that you may consider trauma see sometimes we wonder look god why is it necessary for me to experience or why am i past that i have to experience x y or zed but god's saying you've gone through it but actually i'm i didn't allow you to be burned it didn't destroy you it didn't destroy you yeah nor shall the flames caught you for i am the lord your god the holy one of israel he goes on to say listen i gave egypt for your ransom so you see this thing about the god that chooses us he bypasses this just sounds this this is a little bit of a hard thing to hear but god says i gave this nation for you so you see when god took israel out of egypt yeah he killed the firstborn of the egyptians to bring out his son to bring out israel who he considered his people that's what god did so god is showing look don't take it lightly when god says he fights for you don't take it lightly when god says he chooses you because he's the he's the sovereign god he decides who he chooses and he decides who that is hard it's hard to take it but it is the truth of the fact that the god we serve is sovereign and so as we're here we don't know who god calls we don't know who is sheep and who is not but our responsibility is to make our calling you know that verse make your calling and election sure it's not for us to discern who is god and who is not but it's for us to make sure that when god calls us we say yes it's for us to make sure that when we hear the word of god we apply faith because it's only by faith that we access the help of the divine supreme sovereign god amen when you think about israel as they journey through the wilderness amen god has just given them a word saying i'm going to take you out and i'm going to bring you in now they'd lived in egypt for like 400 years they hadn't really experienced god but just on that word he required them to obey and to have faith as they journeyed god did some miraculous things he said i'm gonna rain bread from heaven and they're like moses you brought us here this wilderness has nothing there's no food there's no animals there's no water you brought us here to die we would have preferred to be slaves and god said i'm gonna rain down bread i'm gonna do things that you have never seen even though you're murmuring and complaining i'm gonna do it because i promise to bring you out and to bring you in amen and so god is a god that stands on the veracity of his own word and it's just for us to catch that word and to walk in it faith is a requirement of ours to experience the power of our god he revealed himself to them as the lion that fought for them amen he revealed himself in battle for israel amen when they came out of egypt and went into the promised land of canaan they weren't necessarily trained in warfare they weren't necessarily experienced in in any kind of strategic battles but god raised up judges yeah god raised up someone called gideon who had no confidence in himself and god caused his army to be stripped down to 300 because god said you know what if you've got so many people you're going to say you did it so i'm going to make it ridiculous i'm gonna make it so outrageous that 300 men i'm gonna choose to give you the victory by them and then god says to him one more thing you know what if you're still afraid after all that i've done to prove that i'm with you if you're still afraid go down and listen and so gideon takes someone with him his servant and he goes down to the enemies camp and he listens to what they're saying and he hears one man talking to another man saying i had a dream yeah that something came down like a stone came down and it destroyed the whole army and they said oh my gosh this this and they gave the interpretation of the dream the enemy gave the interpretation in gideon's hearing and gideon in response to that goes away and says oh god be praised he just starts worshiping because god inspired him through the mouth of his enemies do you know that your god can put a word in the enemy's mouth to encourage you the same person that you are frightened of and running from god can put a word in their mouth to tell you what god is going to do for you because you didn't believe what god said the first time god can speak through anyone at any time because he means what he says and because he's so committed to your success he is our help amen hebrews 11 and verse 6 says that he that cometh to god must believe that he is yeah criteria number one you must believe that he is james tells us that if we doubt if we waiver we won't receive anything from god and so god doesn't play when it comes to faith because he's got so much in him to give us yeah god's got so much in him to give us he's promised us so much he's already done so much for us that he's not waiting around for those who are not sure about what god is going to do actually he wants you to just have confidence in him and he keeps plugging us he keeps supplying things to give us more confidence to believe in him amen he's a fake for god he helps us along the way amen i want to encourage you today i think no my time's not up i saw a little bit more time you see the greatest help that god gave us was the fact that he came to redeem us yeah the fact that the lion also is the lamb is as is a great mystery yeah it's a great mystery because the greatest help that we need is deliverance from sin yeah that's the greatest help we need and even after we're saved we're still in a bit of a struggle which is why he gives us the holy spirit the greatest help is that god would lay down his life and he says look i'm doing this willingly i'll lay it down and i'll take it up again yeah he was willing to be spat upon he was willing to be bruised for us amen the god who created the scripture tells us that he created all things he created all things yet he submitted himself to the creation that he made yeah now i don't know i'm not a parent but i can't imagine my child slapping me can you imagine can you imagine like sometimes you see sometimes you see it sometimes you see at a bus stop here somebody's kid slaps them and you're like that would have never like i was telling i was telling somebody the other day about like the levels that my mum the levels the levels like my mum was a person if you did something publicly the retribution is coming publicly here and i've got friends from my church used to be like my mom is so polite yeah she's been she's saying stop it darling and she's she's talking to you nice while she's beating you at the same time just mad my friends use my friends at church used to laugh about the fact that we would like my mom would take us around the back of church just quietly because obviously we were ramping in the service she would take us around the back and then she'd come through looking all calm and we would just be all you know what i mean but i'm saying that to say that she didn't play but this god that we serve here this god who created us who planned from before the foundation of the world to save us knowing that he made human beings and that we would sin knowing that we would choose to disobey him knowing that we would then ridicule him and mock him and cheer him yeah he still chose to come and to die yeah so god choosing to do it is one thing but god actually doing it yeah actually experience because you can make up your mind to be kind to someone and then that person is rude to you and you say i just they didn't know i was going to do that so if i don't do it they just missed out but god is not like that what he purposed from before the foundation of the world he delivered on it despite what it cost him because he saw you as i also said he saw the travail of his soul but he was satisfied he was satisfied seeing you here today worshipping him he was satisfied knowing that you would say yes and open your heart and make room for the holy ghost to come in because all he really wanted to do was to live in you and to tabernacle with us because you know as we've heard we are the temple of god we are his dwelling place we are god's desire and so he puts everything in place just so that he can live within us amen and so he brought salvation to us and so i want to encourage anyone who's in it today that may not have given your heart to god already you know that you need help just as i know that i need help you know that life without god is not fulfilled and maybe you thought your life was fulfilled maybe you thought everything was okay but something today something in this atmosphere is challenging to think there's something more there's something i'm missing i want you to know that god has made this salvation accessible to you yeah just as let's see there was a woman in scripture who decided that she was going to take healing from god nobody told her that touching the hem of his garment was the route to deliverance from her sickness but somehow the faith in her made her think i just need to touch this guy i just need to get access to him yeah and so she did so without asking any questions without having a conversation with anyone she just went through and touched him and so i want you to be so encouraged today that even if no one prays for you if no one thinks you'll make a good christian if not if even you don't if you're not sure how it's going to work out i want to encourage you that the god that is calling you the god whose voice you're hearing so clearly is allowing you to hear him because he's able and he wants to save you he wants to take that life of yours that has been so battered so troubled so difficult or maybe even it's been successful maybe it's been alright but he's saying i want to make it better i want to show you what you have been designed for i want to release in you your purpose i want you to know me that's what god is saying and so i want to encourage you this place is a place of prayer this house is a house of refuge and the arms of god are open to you i also want to encourage believers who are struggling that god is not separated from your struggle the holy spirit that he's given to us he tells us in romans 8 the holy spirit is given to help our weaknesses he helps our infirmities we've been taught about what the holy spirit is for but i want to encourage you he's connected to every single emotion every single struggle every single difficulty he's right they're feeling it with you but he's not just feeling it he wants to feed you the strength that you need and so today i want you to let god reach you we sang you are my strength strength like no other it reaches to me and i want us just by faith even today as we're going i'm ending i'm sure my time is more than up um i want you to allow the strength of god the love of god the grace of god to reach you because there are things that god has called you to do there's things that have been predestined for you to walk in that you cannot do without the spirit of god you can't do in your own strength amen you might be in a relationship amen and it's beginning to be a struggle to love it's beginning to be a struggle to even nurture your children the way you wanted to but there's grace for everything there is grace there is anointing that is for your home there's an anointing to love your children and to nurture them the way that god wants you to because sometimes it's a challenge but god sees your challenge there is nothing that is too much of a challenge for our god there's nothing you can bring to him that he doesn't already have the answer for there's no challenge for our god our god is more than able there is super abundance in him and so i want to encourage you amen let your faith be supercharged today let your faith be encouraged let your confidence in god be boosted because your god is your refuge he is your help amen he is that present that right now that immediate help don't forget that tomorrow when you're at work don't forget that when you're facing your difficulties he's right now he's ever present god bless you i'm going to pass back in jesus name [Applause] jesus thank you lord thank you davina so why don't we stand but let's actually respond to the message that god is so if you're if you're actually struggling um like davina said like just come out let's let's pray for each other you might want to just pray for yourself in your seat but there's people that will come and pray with you so let's respond to the actual message if we can just sing um you are my strength um for a couple more minutes and we just have space for people that want to just come and pray or be prayed for um thank you jesus [Music] [Music] you are my strengths [Music] lord [Music] [Music] reaches me thank you jesus thank you lord it might be your first time here or even like you might have been coming a couple of times and you feel a tugging in your heart that's god saying that i want to come i want you to come close to me so don't be afraid don't look around to your left or right but just come come to the front and we will pray with you we will help you on this journey and if some people can come and tend and pray these young ladies for me please thank you jesus thank you lord [Music] [Music] reaches me [Music] reaches me [Music] [Music] is [Music] is [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he died [Music] you [Music] [Music] today if he's speaking to your heart today i want to encourage you to come forward and declare today that you accept him as your lord and savior if praise and worship can continue singing for us please [Music] [Music] me [Music] amen amen so when i pray for the congregation today i just pray that the word will permeate through all of our hearts our soul and our mind and as we wrap up this series of the greatest hope that we will truly truly believe that the lord is our greatest help there are many types of help in this world but the greatest is him we can find refuge in him we can find peace in him we can look up and we can see that he is alive very nature oxygen proves to us that he is alive the fact that the world confunction proves that he is
