[Applause] happy [Applause] [Applause] we will be happy [Music] here we are Wednesday June 10th 2020 my how time flies can I believe it half the year is over but God is good it happy years open we're still here yeah god is good I pray that you know God is good and he's been taking care of you and you are grateful to him and as you end this day the middle of this week you're saying god I Love You God thank you let me do a few announcements and then I want to step into the work first of all I want to say to you that Sunday the 7th the reopening it was a success we had a good time in the Lord's house I already imagined I'm just guesstimating I would imagine it was a hundred or so of us there and we were doing social distancing temperatures were being checked we just had a good time we got a chance to see each other smile at each other we didn't do moments of fellowship you know how I love to to tell the church get up nude moments of fellowship we didn't do any of that so you don't have to worry we're not gonna put you at danger anyone else at danger we know it's still out there but we had a good time and I want to encourage you call somebody and somebody you know probably they were there and they will tell you that it was a good time and you can come and and not be affected adversely we were there for about one hour and so we were in and out and it was good and then I want to mention to you that our real goal is June 21st Father's Day what we're trying to do on Father's Day is get the family back in the father's house all Father's Day so these few Sundays up until June 21st we call it a soft opening June 21st we're trying to get people back to the father's house again we're gonna be there our we're gonna be in and out and we're gonna praise God like I believe God would have us to do that's the 21st now also on the 21st and I've been talking about for a number of weeks now we want to do what we call a guard milk stimulus check there are a number of people like myself perhaps like you who have not been affected adversely by this financial crisis that we're going through but you're still as strong as you were before the pandemic financially and you know that there are people around us who are hurting and and especially members of the Church of Christ and there is a passage in the book of Galatians says do good to all men especially to those of the household of faith and so people from all over the country have been listening to this program and been calling and saying you know what I want to help can I help what we're asking people to do is give one day of their wages a special offering it's not going into the general offer and it's a special offering just for people who have been hurting I want to talk to talk and walk to wall and you can help us walk the walk by allowing us to use your blessing to bless someone who needs a blessing so that Sunday we want to take up monies so be prepared let me do some immediate family news but they'll see we're up went to the hospital yesterday excuse me and I know he is desirous of your prayers I know grandma many is desirous of your prayers you give her a jingle and pray for pops I know that he would appreciate knowing that his church family is praying for it sister Patricia of Greeks lost her granddaughter and we funeral eyes her granddaughter last Saturday at the facility please reach out to assist the Greeks she's such a loving sister and it was a tragedy that happened all of a sudden 22 year old went to Saint Marcus went tubing and before the day was over she had gone home to be with the Lord so please reach out to sister Greaves and then sister Davis sister Juanita Davis lost her father and I know that just to call to her a car to her would mean the world so sister Juanita Davis you reach out to her and then as we mentioned on our last broadcast but the Coleman Lewis his wife Ella and their sister sister Teresa Shelvin Lewis lost their mother and so you'd be mindful of them and pray for them before we step in the program let me just say to you I apologize to you this past Sunday a number of you tuned in we did not mean for the program not to air we had some technical difficulties and we could not recover from those difficulties in time to air the program we will we plan to air the program every week regardless of whether or not we're in the facility or not in the facility so I want to apologize to you and you forgive us and you tune in Sunday if the Lord says the same we'll be on the air it's hard to tell because the devil so busy yeah but if the Lord says the saying we'll be on the air however that leads me to it was a message Sunday that I believe God gave me I really do and I believe it was a message for what we're going through right now and if God will allow me I want to take the next two Wednesdays and I want to parcel that sermon out I want I want to revisit those words the words were good that God gave me and I want to spend time there if you don't mind grab your Bibles and meet me in the book of Matthew Matthew chapter 22 is where I'd like to and we'll pick up at verse number 34 and conclude with verse number 40 you ready Matthew chapter 22 verse 34 before Jesus is speaking and I need you to focus on his words verse 34 saying says hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees the Pharisees got together one of them an expert in the law tested him with this question teacher which is the greatest commandment in the law jesus replied love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your mind this is the first and greatest commandment and the second is like it love your neighbor as yourself all the law and the prophets hang on these two Commandments let's pray and then let's dive in the Word of God would you let's pray together father I thank you thank you for your word I thank you for the opportunity to deliver your word I thank you for this medium to deliver the word I thank you Lord for the opportunity to come into someone's home and to speak a word on your behalf you're such a good guy and for the privilege to be able to be a spokesperson for you we're so thankful we pray now that these words that we speak these words will touch lives change lives bless lives we love you and we ask this in Jesus name Amen yeah I know you already know it I know you already know it but let me say it anyway we're sitting right now right in the middle of a pandemic and Penn demonium can you believe it I have never in my life sat in the middle of such a dynamic situation and the minute a pen Dimmick and pandemonium crazy absolutely crazy when you say pandemic what you think of is you think of mass or massive sickness massive sickness and there is massive sickness all over this globe all over this planet people are sick when you think of pandemonium you think of mass confusion and then there is mass confusion all over this country all over this planet and so I believe this particular passage we're looking at today Matthew chapter 22 I believe that if we examine it closely if we look at it closely we'll see what Jesus says is a viable cure for the pandemic and the pandemonium he deals with the first one in the first commandment he calls it the greatest commandment and then he deals with the pandemonium in the second commandment so so examine it with me I'll kick off your shoes rest yourself grab your word let's let's just let's just look at the word but before we look at the word let me describe again the settings that you and I are living in 2020 you know what it's like in it when when we talk about the pandemic 1.9 million people in America 1.9 million people in America have tested positive that's unbelievable and the truth of the matter is that number probably doesn't even come close to reality because most of us are afraid to take the test and if we had taken the test perhaps that number would have skyrocketed 1.9 and then and then what they tell us is that the death toll the death toll through June through June yesterday June night the death toll is a hundred and ten thousand people 100 and then for some reason when you look at the curves and you look at the numbers it says that we're on the decline but but scholars say that before the end of June the number is a hundred and fifty thousand so I don't know I don't know I don't know how to reconcile that if it's on the decline and then we're going to get approximately a third of the deaths that we have experienced in the month of June it seems as if that this stuff is far from being over in fact there's a resurgence in 22 of the 50 states the number of increases virus increases is on the incline if it's a pandemic like never before it's sickness like never before and and and I would encourage you uninfected us it's affecting us in so many ways unemployment when you look at unemployment for America unemployment for America is almost at 15% when you look at unemployment for the black community unemployment for black people the unemployment rate is almost 17 percent and so we are affected adversely by this we're waiting in lines we're hoping for an opportunity to get back to work it is hard right now this pandemic is working havoc on us and right in the middle of the pandemic here comes pandemonium pandemonium it all started Memorial Day Memorial Day George Florida cries out on a concrete ground I can't breathe I can't breathe and as a result result of his death and that cry a hundred cities across the United States exploded with protests and not only here in the United States but across the globe people are protesting sad for me to see police cars on fire sad for me to see buildings burning down sad for me to see people looting sad for me to see police in full riot gear sad for me to hear that the National Guard is on full alert sad for me to realize that the White House is under siege and the president is running to the bunker that's sad and so it doesn't bring me any happiness George Floyd's death brought me grief and anger and here we are in the middle of this pandemonium and somebody says now now it's just the middle we just buried george floor yesterday is the worst to come or is the worst / I don't know that's my answer I don't know but but somebody says now what's the solution what's the solution to the pandemonium it is the solution that those four officers that were involved is it those four officers being convicted tried and convicted is that the solution I think it's more than it is it is it more than than people being just tired of injustice I think it's more than that I think it's more than just the funding the police force I think it's more than reforming the police force somebody said purcha what do you think it is if it's not the officers being convicted if it's not just injustice if it's not just the funding the police or the department if it's not just reforming the what is it I believe here it is here it is I believe God has a word I believe God wants to talk to you and I you know God is still on the throne you know God sees what's happening right now you know God has a word and so this this particular passage that we're looking at though it was spoken almost 2,000 years ago I believe there is some relevance for what we're going through right now Matthew chapter 22 Matthew chapter 204 moment before we step into Matthew chapter 22 let me share the background with you let me share with you the bag this passage the background of this passage is that it is uttered in Passion Week you know what Passion Week is passion week is that last week that Jesus will be on planet earth as a human being then it is it is it is a Tuesday you know we right now we're having Wednesday in the word it was a Tuesday and it was like Tuesday in the word there were three religious groups there the Herodians were there the Sadducees were there and the Pharisees were there and so it's the last week of his life by Friday he is going to be on a cross dead and here it is it's Tuesday and as it is Tuesday these three religious groups are there now you would think that this is a peaceful Bible study you would think that since these are believing Jews Jews who claim they know God Jews who claim they love God you would think that they would be in love with the Son of God but the truth of the matter is they hate him the truth of the matter is they are questioning him all that day because all they want to do is trap him and so they come up with their best questions but their best questions are to get answers that will help them get closer to God their best questions are questions that will hopefully lead to a trap but Jesus is smarter than that and I need you to see it they claim that they're all spiritually well but they're all spiritually blind they they are sick with the virus that I call sin just like we're sick with the virus called kovat 19 they're sick with a virus called sin before before that particular chapter is over they will rush out and they will rush out to plan to crucify him to take his life and so I need you to see these words that he is going to speak because he's God he recognizes what's going to happen Friday and so I believe these words have sustenance for us I believe that a dying man's words that keeps giving us George Floyd's dying words I can't believe I can't breathe I believe these are words that Jesus speaks that are valuable words and we need to hear them and so so here it is they run and they asked this question they asked the question teacher which is the greatest commandment in the law teacher what's the greatest commandment in the law I need you to hear it because I believe that if we embrace what Jesus says as his response to this question it is going to help us with this pandemic you say now what what was it what Jesus was Jesus response Jesus response is love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul with all your mind this is the first and greatest commandment in a very concise statement Jesus is saying love God somebody shout somebody shout shout out there you got some had in the room with you because this is the point he says love God love God love God I believe that that what we need to hear right now is we need to hear love God studies have been taken and studies show that 70 percent of Americans don't go to anybody's church studies have been taken and studies say that so many people today are saying I don't believe in God let alone love God and so here we are here we are we're dealing with a statement a command that Jesus gives and the commandment is to love God but yet we have drifted so far a way that we don't believe in God let alone love God fact if you took the pulse of a number of millenniums especially black millenniums before this covert nineteen many would say that's that believe in God stuff is old-fashioned stuff that's that's that's for the slaves of the cotton fields of Alabama Mississippi and Georgia don't believe that believe in God stuff that's for people who wrote on the back of the bus I don't believe in that believe in God stuff that's for people that didn't go to Morehouse didn't go to Spelman didn't go to Howard University or any other University and all of that was what was said before covet 19 after covet 19 arrived that belief and that love God stuff had a a change you said what causes a change well all of a sudden we started fighting an enemy that is invisible all of a sudden we started fighting an enemy that was so powerful and so deadly all of a sudden we started having refrigerated 18-wheeler trucks parked outside of hospitals as makeshift morgues all of a sudden we started having refrigerated 18 wheelers filled with virus parked outside of funeral homes all of a sudden we started digging mass grave then then then we started looking for God that's what we started looking for God we started looking for God to give us a cure we started looking for God to protect us from the vows we started looking for God in an online Bible study just give me a word of encouragement just give me a word to remind me that that things that I'll be all right that's when we started looking for God and so this pandemic has brought many curses but it's brought a blessing because we're looking to God now more than ever I believe this time has reminded us that that we need something bigger than ourselves this time has reminded us that we need something bigger than our jobs this time has reminded us that we need something bigger than our savings account we needed something to grab our attention that was bigger than ourselves and so this pandemic has caused us to look beyond ourselves and to look at God and-and-and-and somebody ought to be saying in the midst of this I realize I needa all of us ought to be seen in the middle it is I need God you know you know what has happened to us is that we've had to rethink our luvs we had a lot of different loves before this pandemic occurred we love going to the barbershop I have been to the barbershop in months we love going to get our nails done we love watching NFL football games we love watching NBA basketball games we love going to clubs we love doing a whole bunch of things but all of a sudden those things that we loved were snatched right off from one of us I'm wondering this is just me I'm wondering did God permit all of this to grab our attention and to remind us because He loves us so much don't be so in love with the gifts and not the giver of the gifts uh-huh can I say that again did God because He loves us so much permit this calamity to happen so that all of us who are in love with the gifts would be reminded don't be more in love with the gifts than the giver of the gifts well I think I said something I think I think that that what this thing is done is its kicked us back to what Jesus said Jesus says I need you to hear that the greatest commandment is to love God or you could you could love going to the barbershop you can love getting your nails done you can love going to the health club you can love a lot of different things but don't love these things more than you love God Jesus says love God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your mind yes I know it's easy to get caught up in things we love our accomplishments we love our jobs we love our careers we love our cars we love our houses we love our clothes we love all those things but those are just things and right now right now instead of loving things you know what we love hear me we love the fact that we are alive that's where we look we wake up in the morning and we say you know what I'm koban 19:3 I don't have a fever I don't have a car I love the fact that God you woke me up today so we love life and we love the giver of life and I think I think that's more in proportion to what God would have it to be God wants us to love him love him with all of our hearts and so there were a number of solutions that people have put forth to resolve this pandemic some people say well what you need to do is you need to wear a mask well I got I believe in wearing a mask I'm gonna wear a mask every time I go I got the mask oh so mater said well the cure is not just wearing a mask the cure is social distancing well I'm gonna keep my six feet apart I'd love to shake your hand I'd love to hug on you but I know it's not a kosher right now and so I'm not gonna do that somebody says it's it's not only wearing a mask it's not only the six feet distance but but it's developing a cure and so if they develop a cure or vaccine I'm gonna take the shot I'm gonna take the pill I'm gonna do whatever but but can I tell you in my estimation it's more than wearing the mask is more than the six feet social distancing it's it's it's more than a virus or a cure for the virus can I tell you right in the middle of all of this is got to be a word from God and and and and the word from God is look to me look to me I I firmly believe that nobody can fix it like God you know God can fix it you know God can fix anything you see we get through this virus and there'll be something else and so what we need is we don't need the resource we need the source if we get to the source then whatever our situation is whatever our problem is we'll have a cure because God is the source that can fix anything when my mother was up and about and I was a little boy my mother started spoiling me every time it was my birthday my mother would create this unbelievable cake called apple cake and I don't know many people that would cook an apple cake but my mother would take time and she'd have all different types of apples in that cake and that cake was good my mama would fix that apple cake for me and and my whole birthday week I would just pinch off of that kick just so happy and then as my mother got up in years my mother gave the recipe to my wife my way to fix the cake for me and tell you the truth don't tell her she fix a pretty good cake she fix a pretty good apple cake well but nobody nobody can't fix an apple cake quite like my mother who you said Jenny what's your point nobody can fix us quite like Jesus oh he can fix us he made us he knows what's going on in about it he knows how not only to prevent covet 19 but if there's a covert winning and a covert 21 and a covert 22 I got I got I can fix it and so to me the solution is yeah let's wear the mask the solution is yeah let's stay six feet apart the solution is yeah let's get a shot let's get a peel let's get whatever we need to cure the virus but let's get closer to God and let's stay close to God God wants to bless us this is this Old Testament passage from the book of Deuteronomy that that that God speaks as his children gets ready to go into the Promised Land comes from Deuteronomy the 11th chapter beginning at verse number 13 I need you to hear what God says to his people and I believe I believe God is whispering the same thing to use people today listen listen to what God says so if you faithfully obey the commandments I am giving you today to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul then then I will send rain on your land in season both autumn and spring rings so that you may gather in your grain new ones and I live I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle and you will eat and be satisfied it never what we need you know what we need God seems to say in this passage I know what you need and I'm able not only do I know what you need but I am able to provide what you need so you'll be satisfied but it's conditioned upon you loving me you serving me with all your heart with all your soul Oh church church I love what he promises I love what he promises he promises you know what I'm gonna take care all I need for you to do is have a love relationship with me I need you to love me love the gifts love the toys I give enjoy the toys I give you I want you to have life and have life more abundantly but I don't want the gifts I don't want the toys to block our relationship I want you to enjoy the gifts the toys but always look to me the source that has provided your gifts I believe what what God says in this pandemic I can fix it for you I can protect it I can protect you but I need you not to just give lip service to what I'm saying I need you to love me with all your heart all your soul it's all your mind I know nobody has to tell me I'm talking to somebody right now the truth was told and I ask you the question don't you need God to bless you he would immediately say yes yes and not only would you immediately say yes but you would immediately go to the area that you need God to touch that area right now the sensitive that area right now that's hollow that area right now this your man you need God's blessing God says listen listen I know how to take care of you I know how to bless you but-but-but-but put things in order love me with all your heart with all your man I'm talking to somebody today that that you need God to bless you help that's really what you need you like God I'm I'm not feeling well today I haven't been feeling well for a while and I don't know what's going on in my body bless my hell bless me I'm talking I'm talking to somebody today they're your finances you you made it that's what you've been paying attention you've been watching your spending we've been watching you your outgo cuz your income is not that much and you made it that's for but what you really need is is you need God to bless your finances you need God to keep providing you need God to open the windows of heaven and pour down a blessing upon you I'm talking to somebody today that your relationships your relationships are in question I don't know I don't know if it's the relationship with the spouse I don't know if it's the relationship with the children oh if it's relationship with the in-law but right now if the truth was told relationships is how you need God to bless you it's like god bless my bless my relationships all of us need God to bless us there's a passage that I want to read to you and it comes from the book of Matthew Matthew chapter 7 and in this particular passage Jesus is speaking verse number 9 Matthew chapter 7 verse number 9 Jesus is speaking and Jesus is talking about the power of prayer but he is not only talking about the power of prayer he's talking about the Father's love for us and in this passage he compares it to our love for our kids I have two kids and I love they're both grown and so many times I say fly away little birds fly away little bird but I love her and if they called me and said they don't need this I'm gonna try my best Marcy and I are gonna try our best to help them of what they need listen listen to this passage with you Matthew chapter number 7 at verse number 9 he says which of you if his son asks for bread will give him a stone or if asks for a fish will give him a snake if you then though you are evil know how to give good gifts to your children how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask him he's in the Blessing business he's in the blessing business right now the cure for the pendant I believe the cure is that we need to look to God I'm praying for vaccine I'm praying I'm praying that that those things happen that will keep us safe but but but really I'm praying that all of us get closer to God that we spend more time in prayer that we spend more time in Bible study that we spend more time and we should thank him that we spend more time not just with lip service but with saying I love you and then he promises that if we love him he'll satisfy all our needs that's all one again this program today and I want to end it with prayer I believe that God answers prayers as I want to pray for somebody if if you if you if you want to join me in this prayer with you right where you are stop what you're doing close your eyes and and let's that's big God for his blessings let's go to God Father God ooh father God we're so happy to call you our Father so many things are happening right now yes father there's a pandemic that's happening we know you know yes Father the the the number of viruses here in Texas are on the increase we know you know it and and yes Father we need you and and we are standing in the need of your blessings it's like the song says it's me it's me o lord standing in the need of prayer to us what it is but we know father then you're the great physician and we know that you have never lost a patient there's a Lord we pray for healing we pray that your word that says by your stripes or we heal we pray for healing spiritual healing we pray for physical healing and then Lord we we know that there are some among us right now that are listening that the finances are in jeopardy the well-being the ability to provide for the kids the ability to provide for the family the ability to provide oneself to pay the bills to pay the rent to pay the mortgage to pay the light bills to buy groceries we we know finances Lord we we know that as it relates to finances that you own everything we know you own the cattle on a Thousand Hills you said that if you were hungry you wouldn't even tell us and so father we know that you are the great philanthropist and we know that you bestow blessings of upon your children there's a Lord we are praying right now that you bless us financially then Lord we know that their relationships that are in jeopardy some relationships need your blessings some need spouses somebody's spouses to do better some need blessings upon their children some need blessings upon their co-workers upon that friend our relationships locally we know you made us we know you breathed the breath of life into our lungs we know that you're God and you can fix anything until Lord we we pray right now for those that are listening those that are going with us in prayer we pray your blessings upon them we pray Lord that you will touch and you heal and you make whole you promised that never would you leave us and never would you forsake us and so right now farther in the middle of this pandemic in the middle of this pandemonium oh we need you and we pray your blessings upon us hear our prayer we love you in Jesus name Amen hey before you reach and disconnect if you're in a far country you've drifted away there's no better time than right now to come home tomorrow's not promised today is the only time we hear the Bible says if we confess our sins he's faithful and just and will forgive us from all of our sins you you need to write your relationship with God the Bible says come let's reason though your sins be risk ransom they will be white uniform distant country you you've never surrendered your life to God you're at a place where you're saying you know what I need to get off the throne and I need to put God on the throne I need him to be the shot-caller I believe that if you believe that God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son I believe if you confess that Jesus Christ is the son of God I believe if you turn from your sins and say Jesus I need you I believe if you go down in the water we grab a baptism he'll wash your sins away wonderful time to surrender wonderful time god bless you thank you so much for being with us the Lord says the same deal with the pandamonium today we just deal with the pandemic but I believe there is a cure both for the pandemic as well as the pandemonium god bless you the lord says the same we'll see you Sunday morning the Lord be with you oh happy day [Music] [Applause] [Music] me [Music] [Applause]
