I was too hasty in thinking that the Intel Arc A380 was pure garbage kind of I mean it isn't the greatest GPU out there in the performance that I was having in the first video that I uploaded about this thing the test video was abysmal to say the least According to some comments on that original video they mentioned that maybe I should try turning resizable bar on for this thing well what is resizable bar I'm gonna go ahead and read that here resizable bar or Base address register is a PCI capability that is a mechanism that allows the pcie device such as a discrete graphics card to negotiate the bar size to optimize system resources enabling this functionality can result in a performance Improvement well we're gonna test that today now I thought and I'd reply to some comments in that original video that I did have resizable bar turned on and I did at one point however with that original a520 motherboard I did have to pull the CMOS off after it bricked itself in order to get it to turn back on right so setting reset oops and then I completely rebuilt the system altogether so the b550 never had it turned on to begin with well we have it turned on now and I want to put this thing back through its pace is to see if there is a discernible difference in performance between our original testing and this new testing now that way if things have changed I can update my findings and share if this card is actually something that you should look at or not I don't want to put out any wrong information so I wanna I wanna test everything that I possibly can I'm trying to be a source of information and you know if I don't do my due diligence with this I would just not feel right about it so let's compare the tests between this and that original video and we're going to start that off with heaven now in heaven in the original video we pulled a score of 2097 on medium the retest with resizable bar turned on this time actually did bump our score uh to 2100 and 27 so not the greatest performance hike but let's see what else there is out there in heaven we did have a high of 140 a low of 62 and our average FPS was 83 our one percent lows in heaven did run down to 62 as well so they coincided with each other on the low and the uh one percent low so interesting I did also decide to run superposition running superposition on medium preset on this guy just to see what score we could obtain we pulled a score of 5235 which is odd because the only other A380 score on the leaderboards scored well into the seven thousands I assume the user on the leaderboards was probably using something like the gunnier I think that's how you pronounce it the gun air A380 over the ASRock A380 the gunnier looks a little more a little more Tech heavy right we got dual fans we got overclocks the ASRock version is a single fan short PCB version so I I'm assuming that perhaps they were using a different version of the card that is the only other version that I'm aware of I guess now I did do a slight overclock on the card as well as good as I can I'm not an overclocker I've never been an overclocker so I don't know you know too much about it but I did try to gradually increase power limit uh and power boost while keeping a stable system and actually after that uh that little overclock that we did we ended up losing 11 points from our original score so I'm at a loss time spy in our original test pulled out a score of 3129 and drum roll please the new test pulled a score of 3130. that's right we did increase our uh we did increase our Times by score by one point uh however let's take a look at fire strike now the old fire strike test was 7146 and the new test actually pulled a score of 7471 so the fire strike did see a little nice nice little bump in the score there uh so that was that was interesting to see but none of this matters if it can't game right that's what we want to know so let's start the gaming segment with Counter-Strike and I'm actually kind of Blown Away the original test was seeing frames between 70 and 173 the new test was seeing frames between 80 and 279 depending on where you were in the map the low side does have a vast Improvement whereas the high end saw literal leaps ahead of the old test very playable very enjoyable very surprised that's great I hear you saying with your snarky voice but what about Halo infinite let's look at the old test we were freezing every five seconds and maxing FPS around 45 when it wasn't hitching playable if we weren't hitching but now let's try on for size over 60 frames per second with zero hitching that's right mind blown Halo infinite had no hitches now although the recording does look a little weird uh actually in game it was smooth as butter felt great uh we had a high of 101 FPS a low of 52 and our average was 64. our one percent lows were 45. my God it was beautiful and it actually made me a believer in resizable bar at least for Intel gpus for Apex Legends in the old test we had an average frame rate of 69 giggity minimum frame rate of 18 maximum of 129 and our one percent lows were 29 FPS the new test saw a nice Improvement as well averaging frame rates of 67 uh minimum frame rate was 37.8 our maximum was 113. our one percent lows were 35. now we did have lower overall averages however it was more consistent and more more tight right they were tighter together than the other ones were like our lows in the the old one were like 18 you know what I mean so while we did have lower average FPS and a lower higher or yeah lower higher FPS we still did end up performing pretty well and far more consistent this time than the original test and now we come to the finale fortnite right our old test uh had an average frame rate of 74.5 our minimum frame rate was 43 our maximum frame rate was 111 and our one percent lows on that were 38 frames per second now for the new test our new test was very playable as well and DirectX 12 on medium our average frame rate was 84.9 minimum frame rate of 51 maximum frame rate of 115 and our one percent lows for fortnite DirectX 12 on medium was 62 frames per second way better numbers across the board 10 higher average FPS Alone by just flipping a switch in the Bios sadly I don't have any grass for this and I would like grass for this to compare the two kind of together but the original graph I made for that original video was pretty trash and I'm not exactly sure where Tech YouTubers are creating their graphs for I'm gonna have to do a little more research find something customizable for me that we can use in the future just know on average this thing with resizable bar turned on did improve its performance by a noticeable degree I'm gonna stand by what I said though I I mean honestly I cannot wholly agree or I cannot wholly uh say that you should go out and buy this card however if you do go out and buy this card I would say to make sure you turn resizable bar on before you start to game with it and honestly the honestly the Halo infinite test alone made me a believer in this my mind is melting 100 you guys realize that I went and I rebuilt the entire bench because of this hitching issue in the in the dropping GPU usage issue right like I went out and completely replaced the bench every single part in the bench except for the graphics card only to find out that maybe I made a mistake and I thought resizable bar was turned on however it was not and now that it is I'm impressed actually it could have been way worse it could have been our original test right however turning that setting on did seem to massively increase performance uh we we increased averages things got more consistent across the board uh very pleased now I I originally didn't buy this card to Game On I bought this card to Media encode as I think that that's kind of more what this card was or is aimed for I don't think you know people were like oh you're gonna be gaming AAA titles on this thing no problem like I'm not gonna replace my 3080 with this right it's not that good good it's it's not even great to be honest but it's more impressive than I thought it was again more better options out there if you're on a budget than this card however if this is what you get for your birthday or Christmas or something like that just make sure you turn resizable bar on it will save you a massive headache overall I'm way more pleased with this thing than I originally was and uh yeah I I'm a Believer in resizable bar so thank you to the comments that original video who had the idea to maybe turn resizable bar on and see if there was a difference and I said I I do and there's no discernible difference I was wrong you were right I made a mistake and I wanted to make this video to correct that mistake because like I said in the beginning of the video I don't want to be a source of misinformation on YouTube when it comes to Tech and graphics cards and parts and performance so if I ever make a mistake can you call me out on it I want to follow up on that to see uh if that's the case and take responsibility for information that I put out that might have been incorrect there you go guys that's the video if you liked it like it subscribe to stay up to date on all my latest content and I will see you in the next one take care
