This is beyond amazing. I wonder what it would cost to build it. I cannot believe how rounded he made it. I would love to see an official Lego version of this where the designers reworked it and designed new parts if needed to make it stable and more rounded where needed. Epic.

It's just a shell for that swimming pool.

His star destroyer is also epic. Beyond the Brick has a video for that as well

[Music] hey there Joshua Hanlon here at brick Fair Virginia 2019 and I'm with Matt you might remember his massive Star Destroyer from last year with the detailed interiors that we featured here at brick fair but you're back with another incredible new Star Wars ship this year so what do you have here well I built a lot of Star Destroyers in the past so I figured it was time to build a rebel ship and last time I mentioned that I was working on a a Mon Calamari Cruiser it's not quite done but it's getting pretty close so this one it's based on the home one but I called it the MCA da independence which was according to one encyclopedia is a another Mon Calamari ship that was at the Battle of Endor and this one like the Star Destroyers comes apart actually a lot easier than the Star Destroyers and it does have an interior so I'll try to show you this is great so where do you start with this one you take out these back sections here like this and we got some like crew sections you know this is definitely based on the home one scene and you can see seat pilots there that came off got Mon Mothma and now there actually was a lot less interior space in this shape of a ship than I anticipated so I wasn't able to include everything that I wanted to I wanted to have like diplomatic quarters and different aliens but there's just not a lot of space up here compared to the Star Destroyers the Star Destroyers just are so wide at the back it really gives you a lot of space to do whatever you want whereas this was much more limited the heads of these Mon Calamari crew members are just there right against the edge of the ship so you can't you can't go any higher than that kind of a different shape in general here with us so many rounded parts that you don't have with some of the other Star Destroyers yeah that was definitely a challenge at that I mean this ship took a while it's been I've been trying different things for a long time and see what's the best method of doing that and for the most part I just use hinge plates I'll show you those in a second we got the engine room back here there's a functional door that leads into the hangar the engine rooms not quite done I'm not quite sure if something should go up here maybe like a walkway or something and maybe something in the back or underneath this crew section we have started a hangar bay and you can carry three of these custom a wings they're a little bit smaller than the sets got the size of the juniors a wing and actually use that piece from the juniors a wing and got some crew members walking around down there this one's a bit finicky you'll see if I can take it off so there's the rest of the hangar bay even though there's not a ton of space there you can even fit some of the smaller ships and minifigs in ya and rebel like there aren't many iconic areas of Mon Calamari ships because we don't see much of them except for the bridge which we'll get to in a second and hangar bays and rebel hangar bays I think are one of the most you know distinguishing things that the rebels have and they're sort of always have their ships like caddy cornered and like little trucks and things running around so that's what I tried to to capture there and up front we have the bridge which like couldn't quite capture because there's a little room but I got the two guys with their little consoles and I decided to make the captain someone other than Admiral Ackbar Adam Rock bar was actually in the in the crew section back there and there is a swiveling chair he swivels pretty well which was really complicated to do actually kind of those rail pieces there to run it back and forth yeah they're not only are there rails but if he put tiles under the rails it becomes way too tight so there are actually these are like those 1 by 4 panels under there that are like going side to side sort of snot it just that took way longer than I thought it would to just do a swivel chair and we can remove that [Music] we sort of have a atrium or a swimming pool because I figured that Mon Calamari need water because they're like water people and and there is a cross-sections book that actually shows an atrium with a lake in in a Montcalm in the home one actually although it's more of like a pine tree type forest in there in that one I didn't have room enough to include trees so I went with a tropical being instead like it it's like a whole swimming pool on this ship yeah and you got you got Luke Skywalker and Han Solo and Princess Leia in there and I figured that Luke never learned how to swim because I assume there are no swimming pools on Tatooine so he's got all his swimming gear and maybe Han is making fun of him I'm not sure but uh I mean that's probably my favorite room in the ship even though some of the early feedback I've gotten is that people don't quite get why there's a pool on the ship but I really like it it's very unexpected when you open up a Star Wars ship so that was I mean that was a deal like deal-breaker room I really wanted some water in the ship what do we have in front of that this sections not quite done but I did get my little poker or subak table in there this sort of makes a little more visible some of these things come off it's supposed to come off in one chunk but here we go Sagat Lando playing with some aliens and an interdimensional traveler it's nothing up front yet I might include maybe like a droid repair station something up there that's so much you know awesome stuff you're able to including there even in a smaller space so talk about the overall design of this ship with those rounded edges how were you able to achieve that on there's just tons and tons of hinges lots like if you want to remove this just hinge plates on each of these segments has four hinge plates they stay pretty rigid there'll be something like this cheese slope keeps it rigid so the ship is overall pretty rigid and each of these segments is really strong so you can't crush it up and down to transport the whole ship splits in half which makes it really easy compared to the Star Destroyers actually because the Star Destroyers the frame stays in one chunk so you always have to move that huge frame chunk which is really heavy and has sharp edges and stuff but I can fit this whole thing in a big plastic bin once it comes in then once it breaks in half these things come I'm trying to figure out what the easiest way to show how it's built is but and these are pretty simple these are just these regular hinges and you got tons of brackets all over the place then you can make it you know use all those pieces together make it pretty strong yeah and you got each of these segments is on hinges as well a lot of snot in there sort of you got studs going up top and such at the bottom these are generally mirror images of each other top and bottom you have it on the nice stand here as well so do you got to build all your ships that way so they aren't just sitting on the table um this one can sit on the table but I just if the standards just to make it easier to view unlike the Star Destroyers that have the you know the like tile and plate you know panels that go up and down their ship one for yet though are those panels won't be able to hold away the ship so it has to be on stands otherwise the ship would collapse whereas this one the bottom is you know sort of flat at a certain point and you can you could rest it on the table it's involved in a little conflict here so what do we have going on there with the aggressor over there yeah so you saw that ship last year that's the aggressor it's roughly to scale with a Mon Calamari Cruiser and I just figured I'd set up a little battle if I had table space to do it so I threw those are supposed to be shield impacts there and the aggressors firing some missiles but the aggressor is losing its the smaller shipment so uh taking some Battle Damage go yeah it's awesome to see such big ships like this you know actually set up in kind of a battle like that you don't see that very often no certainly now with a Mike on rye Cruiser I know this is yet the the Mon Calamari Cruiser here is the latest one you have claims to continuing this type of idea with kind of interiors and big star warships no current plans I mean this one still is not quite done there a couple of things on the exterior that I'd like to rework I mean just for an example like we've got this front section here and it's sort of I've worked on this gap I've revised that like three times how that connects that gap between this part in this part and I'm still not totally happy with how it is so I may take another crack at it still got a couple interior bits to work on too but it'll be done eventually and then I'm not sure what's next [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
